What Happened to Saturday Morning Cartoons?

Remember Saturday Morning Cartoons? From the 60s until the 90s, the 3 big TV networks, ABC, CBS and NBC would show a block of cartoons every Saturday, generally from 8am till Noon or 1, give or take. So let’s look back at this tradition to remember a bunch of shows I used to watch. We’ll talk about the reasons for the decline, and how I feel about it today.

I’m around your age and also remember watching all of these on Saturday and not realizing it was a thing. Loved it, Muppet Babies and Garfield & Friends was my jam. And Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue omg. We watched that at school in the gym. Maybe part of the DARE program? Or they just thought it’d be a good idea to show a buncha elementary school kids. Man that cartoon stuck with me. Freaked me out, but I also loved seeing all my beloved characters together. Do you remember Denver the Last Dinosaur? Good times.
