One thing that every gamer, young and old, can probably agree on is that water levels in video games are usually pretty bad. Now of course there are games that nail this concept, especially ones that take place entirely underwater, but that’s not what this video is about! Today I’m looking at a handful of the most memorable water levels in gaming! These aren’t necessarily my favorites or the ones I dislike the most, but ones that stuck with me for better or worse.
NOTE: In Sonic 1, we mistook the Shield for the Bubble Shield from Sonic 3 – we thought they did the same thing while making the video.

September 10, 2023 at 2:51 pmHi James! I’m glad you mentioned Majora’s Mask. Being able to swim as a Zora in that game is a lot of fun, but it is also incredibly frustrating. If you choose to take on the challenge of racing the Beaver Bros. (to get an extra jar) it is very very difficult. You have to be precise with the steering and also compensate for the camera spinning around in unpredictable ways. And they make you do it all twice over there, too! It is EXTREMELY difficult. But, because it’s Nintendo, they factor in the controls, so it’s still possible to win. You just have to practice A LOT to get the hang of it.
