Oh, I’ve heard about this movie, but didn’t know it takes place in my native Ukraine. Still wish it wasn’t a found footage film. I can’t watch them

I found the Blair witch project to be extremely boring and highly overrated

Thanks so much for these new Monster Madness videos. They are the perfect return to form for the super long running series. I love these reviews and rewatch the various seasons from year to year around the Halloween season. It’s great to finally re watch them with my kids now that they are gaining an interest in horror movies.
Thanks again for being there all these years.

as you said, this is not a good example of a Czech horror film given your complaints. If you really want a good example, watch Little Otik (aka Greedy Guts). What’s interesting about the Otik movie is that it formed the basis of the creepypasta known as the Grifter.

this film has real footage of a serial killer: Andrei Chikatilo, the “Rostov Butcher” (the guy at 1:31)

I’ll be honest. The reason I liked Monster Madness is because you used to review movies that you actually RECOMMEND to see, not choose random examples from a different country and review them. It sounded interesting at first, but you talked me out of it.

The man has been doing this for over a decade. I’m pretty sure he ran out of his own suggestions years ago. Don’t be a wet blanket.

As you mentioned, this is not a good example of a Czech horror film. Czechs don’t have well-developed genre cinema due to 40 years of occupation by the USSR (for Soviets the horror film was too decadent), but there are still some interesting exceptions. I would recommend The Cremator (of which you used footige in the video), Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, or Visitors from the Arkana Galaxy which is f*in’ weird.

“I almost feel bad when she dies but not really.”
I strive to be able to sound this casual.

“If you were a Russian prostitute on a date with serial killer Andrei Chikatilly, aka the Rostov Ripper, and he couldn’t achieve an erection, that was NOT your lucky day”

Yet another obligatory film just for the sake of “around the world” but a lame addition to Monster Madness. It’s too bad Cinemassacre isn’t the passionate outlet it used to be…

As a native, I have to mention at least one Czech movie worth mentioning. If you’ll possibly get your hand to Journey to the Beginning of Time from 1955, please try it. The movie is a journey of a few young men going on a boat through a cave river taking them backward through the history of Earth. It has one of the best slow-motion I’ve ever seen from a very brief period between the German and Russian occupation where Czech movies tried to be world-class. And it has the very first fight of tyrannosaurus with stegosaurus.
Greetings from the heart of Europe!

If you want some suggestion for next year, try the Czechoslovak movie “Upir z Feratu” also known as “The Feratu Vampire” which is all about a vampire car!
