    My personal
    1920: Caligari
1930: Dracula (mummy close second. I also love Bride)
1940: Wolfman (house of frank and body snatcher honorable mentions)
1950 alien: Day the earth stood still (honestly by a long shot, it just so ahead of its time)
1950 monster: tie between Godzilla and the Blob
1950 science: Forbidden planet (honorable mention the fly)
    1950 horror: house of wax
1960: Easily Night of the living dead (Though Carnival of Souls is underrated, and one of the few old films i find scary by modern standards)
1970: Jaws is probably the best movie on the list but not sure its the best horror movie. I’d give that to the original halloween. (Alien is also amazing. Alice Sweet Alice and Black Christmas are very underrated.
1980: The shining is probably the best movie but if I’m being honest the one I have the most fun watching is the Fly. (Got to give a shout out to poultergeist, which is a fantastic and scary film as well)
1980: Comedy: Personally for me it “An american werewolf in london. I just find it visually appealing and funny in its more subtle humor/ one of the best bits of dark humor ever is when there in the porno theater have a matter of fact discussion about how david should kill himself(no disrepect to Gremlin and Ghost busters, both great films)
1990: Well Misery is one of my favorite films of all time, so I have to pick it. But it hurts ignore silence of the lambs and Candyman. (If you want to talk pure horror and less suspence and thriller, than I’d go with candyman)
2000: Probably the first Saw or Trick or treat.
2010: Hereditary, easily for me. (Though I love IT chapter 1)
