Note: Keep in mind, these are my choices at this time. On another day, in another mood I might choose a slightly different list. That’s what’s hard about making a “favorites” list. My opinion today might not be the same as it was in the past or how it will be in the future. That said, this list is pretty close to how I’d probably feel at any given time, even though I might swap it around a little at other points.

SMB3 is as close to a perfect game than anything else that has ever existed.

I know! It wasn’t rivalled until Super Mario Galaxy 2. Except maybe, Super Mario Land 2.

I never understood why people always debate megaman 2 and 3 as the best. 3 has some of the worst weapons EVER, some are just cheap knock off’s from megaman 2. Snake man, top man, wanabe metal man, the lazer. Everything feels a little off. If i had to pick the two best, it would be 2 and 4.

Haven’t watched it yet, but I’m gonna bet Lolo is in there 😛

I loved Zelda II as well, but I think the n64 zeldas were the creepiest. There’s a game I think you guy would enjoy, Solar Jetman: Hunt For The Golden Warship. It’s a great game, simple, but very fun.

Another game people seem to come back to is Dragon Warrior (Quest), even Zelda II seems modeled around it because of its popularity in Japan. And what do you know, the third installment is superior! Just like Mario, Zelda and Ninj Gaiden.

My regard for Dragon Warrior 3 on the NES is the same as Mike’s for Zelda!

I’m compelled to suggest this short cover by Electro Quarterstaff… the power of Metal compels me. Enjoy!

You wouldn’t need the Bubble Lead in Castlevania 2. Holy water lets you find the false platforms in that game.

    • June 22, 2017 at 5:20 pm

you have to continually throw the holy water. The bubble lead, would roll along the ground to reveal the gap.

Goonies II is one of the best NES games ever. I never knew it was not well received. I just thought it wasn’t well known.

Never mind. I looks like you can’t post paragraphs; you have to keep your comments short. Got it.

I knew you’d have Bucky, but I’ve got to call you out for referring to him as a TMNT clone. Bucky actually debuted the same year in the comics as TMNT, though he definitely only got a cartoon series because of how popular TMNT ended up being. Bucky is more of a Star Wars parody than anything.

Great list! I’m happy to see some love for Kung Fu and Zelda 2. My list would be similar, but I’d find room to include Kid Icarus and Jaws. I might also include Wizards+Warriors, Solstice, and Faxanadu. The only puzzle game I’d include is Wario’s Woods. Also, I’d choose Ninja Gaiden 2 instead of 3. So… I guess my list wouldn’t be similar at all. Anyway, thanks for the video! It was a lot of fun, and it put me in the mood to play some NES games.

Great video, Mike. I will say that I’ve been watching Cinemassacre for so long that none of these came as a huge surprise, lol

Someday I’ll do my own top favorite games on SNES. Just so all know and hopefully not hold it against me, I’m not a Zelda fan. I love Donkey Kong more, Bomberman and Mario. If I’m going to top a game with puzzles, it’d be an RPG game. But I want my choice to be unique and not common. I hear Zelda too many times to be considered the best and everyone’s favorite and I want mine to be different.

Thank you for recognition of Ducktales Mike; a game that was nothing but fun in my youth, and one of my favorites.

It’s always nice to see Kirby on a top 10 or 20 list. It was a personal favorite of mine. Though I never thought it was very hard it was just a fun game to play, and the power-up variety always kept things interesting. I just wish I could keep the UFO for longer!

The Tengen version of Tetris is a lot better than the Nintendo version.
