Part 2 of my Oz book reviews. This time, I cover Land of Oz (1904), Ozma of Oz (1907), and the movie Return to Oz (1985). Also, I give my first impressions on the premiere episode of Emerald City (2017).

Want to see a really nice adaptation of all this? See the anime Wizard of Oz from the 80s. Its AWESOME and it is very faithful to all the books. Which I didnt know until now after watching these 2 videos. Back then I thought they had made up all that.

Love these videos! Signed up to tell you to please keep making them. Even when I haven’t heard of the movies/books/games you’re reviewing, I still really enjoy the video. Thanks!

What’s about the “The Land of Oz” episode of “The Shirley Temple Show” from 1960? To bad you didn’t talk about that version. It’s a nice adaptation.

It sounds like the Oz books took some inspiration from Alice’s adventures, which to my understanding is an even older series. It’s interesting seeing how some stories inspire others, which in turn inspire more. I’ve never read any of the books or seen Return to Oz, just the original film and also the Muppets adaptation, oh and I think I might have seen that remake with an entirely African American cast that has Michael Jackson in it. It does sound like the Oz books are worth checking out though.

I can imagine Hungry Tiger in movie
Its like Tigger from Winne the pooh but replace his happy all around mood to eating fat babies 🙂

James if you haven’t already you should watch the Japanese anime tv series.
My sisters and I watched this when it originally aired and thought it was great, but as we never read the books we don’t know how faithful it was.

Wow I ran into Return to OZ movie when I was looking at older movies Fairuza Balk was in and saw she was in that movie so I watched it. I was only like 10 year ago too and I thought it was kind of scary even for an adult. Just so freaky to watch. By the way I remember a movie where a lion was hungry and looking for a baby to eat. I am not sure where I seen that or if it was in a cartoon or something but I remember seeing one asking around saying I am so hungry do you know where I can find a baby. When you said something about it it came to me like I have seen it. I wish I could say what movie it was in or if it was a cartoon of it that I saw. I forget but remember something like that.
