Great episode again & conversation, keep up the great work.

I think Stranger Things was merely homaging 80s films, not trying to replicate them exactly.

Let me make it clear that Oracle of seasons and ages are 2 parts of the same game. If you use the passwords correctly you actually get to fight the real final boss. It’s awesome but a lot of bullshit since the gameboy didn’t have internal memory lol

    • November 28, 2016 at 1:49 am

Was it a password system, I can’t remember. Surely not as bad as the 5 pages long password between Golden Sun 1 & 2. It’s awesome to do something like that, but that password’s length, wow!

Ether way I want to see James and Mike play them since they’re a couple of my favourites in the Zelda series and highly underrated IMHO. I think James would love them too, like I do even though they’re non-nostalgic for me.

The best dungeon ever in Zelda is actually a water level, the one in A Link Between World. To me anyway.

How come you guys didn’t get the level 2 Boomerang? You get it in the same place you get the level 2 Shield in case you don’t know. Also, you know you can catch faeries right? I’m asking because you bought Red Medicine and I never do that. I’m not trying to be a smartass. Just saying in case you guys don’t know.

    • November 28, 2016 at 8:32 am

Because we had to beat the entire game in a short amount of time. If we had unlimited time to film episodes, we could be more complete.

That makes total sense, if you’re talking about getting all the heart pieces, however, you guys obviously got the shield upgrade. As Batman91 pointed out, the boomerang upgrade is in the exact same spot from the same fairy. It certainly isn’t necessary to complete the game, but it’s way more efficient than the original. It can fly much farther and can also mow down bushes. If you were not aware, there’s also a neat trick you can do by throwing an empty bottle into any fairy pond, which will return to you with a full bottle of magic 🙂

Also, when you’re in one of the rooms in Dungeon 5 (Ice Dungeon) you were whacking at those green duck things (called Pengators) with your sword. The hookshot kills them with one blow, just for future reference 🙂

I’m really happy you guys are finally playing through this game. It’s been my #1 favorite since I was a kid and I’ve beaten it so many times I’ve lost count. I always go directly to dungeon #4 after beating #1 so that I can get the final gloves, and tempered sword for more damage. It definitely makes #2 and 3 a lot easier. The boss on #4 is usually a bitch, so I’ll use the blue cane there to avoid all the projectiles.

Shit…now I want to play through it again LOL

P.S. Those grasshopper looking things are called “Buzz”…Wow…that’s kind of lame. They don’t make any sound or even have wings.

In comment on netflix current shows, you really need to see Black Mirror. It is te best “show” on there! Each episode stands on it’s own and very well written. Produced by Charlie brooker, the host and writer of a very funny show called screenwipe (BBC). I’ve been a fan of cinemassacre since 2006 and want to thank you guys for making al this content! Greetings from the Netherlands! ✌

I just started watching Black Mirror a couple days ago. The episodes “Playtest” and “Shut up and Dance” were amazing. Especially the latter, blew my mind!

I’m so glad that someone feels the same way about Stranger Things as I do. I think it was overhyped and people just jumped on the bandwagon and suddenly it exploded. I watched it the day it was released on Netflix, thought it was pretty good, then a week later everyone was talking about it and I couldn’t figure out what the big deal was. The title screen and the music are good, but it’s just one of MANY tributes to the ’80s that have been done in the past few years (like Super 8). We’re inundated by them, this one doesn’t stand out to me at all. Other than it’s just something people talk about because everyone watches Netflix.

Speaking of homages to the ’80s, has anyone here seen Turbo Kid? That was a pretty good one I saw recently.

My version of the brothers making up is that you go into the room later and they’re in bed together.

This is great! Thanks, guys! Where on your website is the link to Mike’s swordless run on Zelda? I’ve seen it before, but couldn’t locate it again until now…

The Zora/Zola thing should be an issue of the transcription from Japanese. You know, the old “R” and “L” stuff.

I love how Mike kept saying Absolutely. Is he Rocky or something?

  • November 28, 2016 at 4:45 pm

I think the grasshopper enemies are called “Buzz”

Would like to see the magic powder turning bubbles into fairies and I’m also a big fan of the Fat Fairy in dark world!

Everytime Mike wears that brown longsleeve, I seriously think of my grandpa and his 70s looking clothes lol.

An item better than the hookshot, definitely the magic wand from the original Legend of Zelda. No magic meter, permanently ranged attack, upgraded to set $#!T on fire with the book (a ridiculously easy item to get), as strong as the white sword.

Hi, I’m a new member but a long time viewer 🙂 awesome show once again! Seeing how there was a moment where you both mentioned wanting to make Zelda references but couldn’t because of obvious, I recommend you look into Adventure Time: the secret of the nameless kingdom. I know you all are very busy but it’s worth the look mainly to feel the astonishment of “how did they get away with this!?”

It’s a great Zelda clone in its own right. It’s Hyrule…in the adventure time deminsion o.o

Two tips if you plan an animal abuse list:
Links Awakening: You can burn dogs to their death with the magic wand.
Dead Rising(WII): You can run over poodles with a lawnmower…

    The “grasshopper” is called buzz:
I agree it’s the best Zelda!

What’s more awesome than the hookshot? TWO!

You should have grabbed the magic meter upgrade near the blacksmith when you got the level 3 sword. That would have made the ice palace boss a lot easier.

“…there’s nothing wrong with it. It was just that everybody hyped it up so much that when I did see it, I was disappointed because it wasn’t as good as what everyone made it out to be.”

Ha! Pretty much my thoughts about this game when I had played it through. It really is not worth all the praises it gets.
