Love that they had Die-Hard Arcade. Was sad not to see any of the Capcom D&D beat’em ups there. Great to see Ninja Baseball Batmen or whatever that was!
Bittersweet to watch; I live about 20 minutes from Galloping Ghost and go pretty frequently. Had no idea this was going on…:( Never have met James, and even auditioned for his movie years ago. But still love seeing GG getting some love! I love that place.
What the fuck? A place like this exists? I seriously want to move to Chicago now. My mind is blown. Why can’t they have a place like this in every state?
I’ve wanted to go to Galloping Ghost for years! However, since I live in Cleveland I am going to be boycotting all things Chicago for a while. And now I’m sad.
I’m from Colorado but have a few friends in Chicago, and I’ve made it a point to visit the Galloping Ghost whenever I can, most recently this summer! I’ve only been able to make it twice, but I beat Moonwalker one of those times, and the other time… yep, Ninja Baseball Batman. Every visit always feels like it lasts about half an hour, though… there’s never enough time. I could spend weeks there!
Likewise. I never have enough time there. I felt obliged to contribute, so I donated a game there this year. (Blazing Star for the Neo-Geo. Middle of that back wall.)
Looks like a lot of fun. Especially when there’s nobody else there.
How long were you guys there for? Seems like you beat a lot of games.
I’m so glad Ninja Baseball Bat Man has nothing to do with baseball.
Wow James! Playing F-zero AX! That game is very rare in the states ( allegedly they are only like 20 or so in North America) If you had a Gamecube memory card with F-zero GX file you could get exclusive cars and tracks added to your game (or unlock them completing insanely challenges/use Gameshark)
If you guys head into the city, go to Headquarters. They have locations in Lakeview and River North. Free play all the time, and great beer! That was my go-to bar when I lived in Lakeview.
That looks like a nice arcade. I don’t know about $15 though. It wouldn’t be worth $15 unless you’re there for more then 3 hours and playing non stop. I guess it would be fun though. I really want my own CarnEvil arcade game. There was one at a pizza place I used to go to but that place got taking over by another owner and CarnEvil disappeared. I would of bought it. I will get one someday.
My annual trip to Chicago in March may need a full dedicated to just visiting this place. I live in a town that used to have a few small arcades, but nothing of this magnitude.
Galloping Ghost is the real deal. $15 all day, over 500 games (they have the list on their website). I live about 20 minutes away, and the only drawback is they don’t have a whole lot of parking, so you may end up parking on the street somewhere. Lots of nice restaurants in downtown LaGrange as well, so you can really make a day of it.
So glad you made this video. I’m only the hours from Chicago and my friend was trying to figure out what to do for his birthday. Guess where we’re going?

The have both of the D&D games. They’re on the same cabinet, you have to flip a switch to choose which board to play.

The Disney in Florida also has a place like this (door fee and the arcades are all on free-play).

What was that game with the little walking Goro?
November 8, 2016 at 1:56 am
Judge Dredd. (The other one.) It’s a Midway prototype.

With most arcades charging over a buck a game these days $15 is a great deal compared to those damn “credit points” card based arcades.
November 18, 2016 at 10:49 am
$15 seems like a heck of a deal for me!
November 9, 2016 at 10:13 pm
Awesome video. Love the arcades, made me nostalgic, and aptly it’s great to see Doug.
