Tusk (2014) Monster Madness X #10

Hey, that fly from the Presidential Debate is hanging out on your pumpkin! 😛

I enjoyed this movie a lot. I could listen to Michael Parks speak that crazy old-fashioned dialog all day. He was great.

    • October 10, 2016 at 12:17 pm

It shows up again in James’ armpit at 5:05 and slowly crawls up his arm until it’s walking across his shoulder at the end of the review!

It’s no coincidence that James mentions The Fly in his review.

How did you even notice that?!

Oh god. My uncle told me about this… He also told me not to watch it. I glad he did.

I also noticed you said “Jason Long” and “Harry Joel Osmond”. And there was a fly on your shoulder at the end. XD

I noticed that too. Really really weird to overlook something like that. I don’t think James is used to watching modern movies with modern actors. 😛

Kevin Smith does body horror? Yeah… I don’t know if this one is for me.

  • October 10, 2016 at 12:34 pm

Thanks James, I was eating cold pizza when I watched this review. I’m now too sick to finish my lunch. I had no idea this movie existed, and I enjoyed my life before it too… Horrible. I just can’t watch body horror films.

Interesting movie but I now see it as not an original so I probably won’t care for it. You do see other movies in it and that to me just seems like movie maybe only to see once just for the hell of it. I sorta feel I got the whole movie in your review so I don’t need to see it so thank you. People should come up with new stuff sometimes. I do feel like there is an overload of music and movies out there that someday it will be hard to make new stuff up. I get why they did remakes for a bit too cause they needed to just for money and to keep making movies. If there wasn’t so many people making movies or music then 50 years later would be finding new stuff only.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, ENOUGH with the movies about walruses, it’s like the twentieth one these couple of years! Each movie that comes out is the same: a remake of a classic movie about a guy turned into a walrus! Yawn! Get creative Holywood! How about, and I know this sounds crazy but hear me out, a movie about zombies??! Or some sort of shapeshifting robots?

During the video you mention a drink at 5 minutes in called: Chug-eh-Lug made by: Eh 2 ZED.

Being from Canada i hope this will clarify it:

The whole thing is a American joke made on people from Canada. Many of Americans believe we say “eh” very often( which i believe to be a stereotype towards Canada) and Zed instead of Z(Zee). Therefore by substituting the “A” for “eh” it’s used as a joke since they are in Canada.

Just thought some viewers would like to know about it.

No kidding. I grew up in the north and everytime I mention where I’m from everybody breaks out the Fargo accents. “Oh yer from up dere in da U.P. eh? I hear the accents are rough. What’s that a’boot? Her her her”.

Makes me want to break out the boxing gloves.

Yes, Tusk! This is the Cinemassacre/Kevin Smith crossover I’ve been waiting for.
I have to disagree, I think Johnny Depp’s Guy LaPointe was one of the best things about this movie. It’s such a strange character, I find it really memorable.
I’m one of the only people who really liked Yoga Hosers. I think of it as a tribute to Charles Band and his Full Moon Pictures. It has little bratwurst Nazis running around (the “Bratzis” are played by a beardless Kevin Smith with a Hitler mustache) and it’s so demented and cheesy and weird. Guy LaPointe also makes an appearance. Bring on Moose Jaws! 😉

  • October 10, 2016 at 5:07 pm

This movie actually made me quite sad

  • October 10, 2016 at 5:30 pm

    That fly, so funny xD

  • October 10, 2016 at 8:22 pm

The same guy in Tusk played by Johnny depp is also in Yoga Hosers…. now am confused lol The same character… Now now! Any idea why?

    • bud

      October 10, 2016 at 8:55 pm

Yoga Hosers is a semi-sequel to Tusk. It’s set in the same universe. Kevin Smith calls it his True North Trilogy (concluding with Moose Jaws, in which he will reportedly kill off his Silent Bob character). The idea for the spin-off was the two girl clerk characters from Tusk (played by Kevin Smith and Johnny Depp’s teenage daughters). They, as well as Johnny Depp, will be returning in Moose Jaws.
Also interesting to note: Justin Long is also in Yoga Hosers but he’s playing a different character (he’s the yoga instructor).

I can’t watch this movie, it’s too much for me. Was very dissapointed that Smith spent his time on making movie I won’t see. Can’t stand body horror / torture flicks… I mean the ones like that wretched centipede!

What I expect with Kevin Smith movies is crap. He never disappoints.

    October 10, 2016 at 9:36 pm

Kevin has a name and a fan base. He exploits them to make money, disguising the effort as art.

  • October 10, 2016 at 11:10 pm

I didn’t watch this video. I just listened to it instead. I can almost watch any kind of horror movie and move on without a care, but simply watching a video review of this one about a year ago made me sick to my stomach. I could barely eat for about two weeks, especially if it was meat. Thanks for reviewing this one, but personally, I will humbly pass.

Umm, HARRY Joel Osment? JASON Long? 🙂 Still, a good review, man. What was with that fly?

  • October 11, 2016 at 10:42 pm

He said Jason Long half way through.

Hope you plan on doing Unfriended. 🙂

MM Easter Egg #3, the skeleton on the computer monitor changes positions 3 times in this review.

  • October 30, 2016 at 10:24 pm

I wonder if when he said “Jason Long” instead of Justin Long, he was maybe thinking about Jason Lee? He’s starred in almost all major Kevin Smith movies. (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Jersey Girl, J&SBSB, Clerks 2 + others) Not to mention the Justin Long’s moustache in this movie is similar to the one Jason Lee has in My Name is Earl, his most notable role.
