James and Mike re-re-re-re-re-visit Ghostbusters on NES once again, for the sole purpose of defeating the stairwell WITHOUT using Game Genie.

GHOSTBUSTERS haha. Another shitty game I can’t wait to try to beat on my NES. Just finished Back to the Future recently.

I don’t think the PK energy has nothing to do with getting in the zuul building actually, I believe it is based on a certain number of the money. I tested this a long time ago so I don’t quite remember, but I put in a code for lots of money and I was able to get into the building.

I just tested it. Just put in the code for $1 million and you can enter the zuul building right away.

Why do the Ghostbusters look like three Luigis in a conga line?

You need to check out the Sega Master System ghostbusters. It was probably tge best 8 bit version. I know it beats the shitty NES and C64 version, even though it doesnt have the awesome digitized GHOSTBUSTERS

Congratrations for this video not being about ID4

That’s hilarious. It’s like saying it with a southern drawl. Anneeasss.

Why the glitch works: Once the stairway stage starts, a single-byte variable in the programming holds the number of “lives” the player has. This number of lives is “unsigned”, meaning it does not store a negative. Therefore, the number of “lives” is a number that ranges from 0 to 255 (just like rupees in Zelda 1, incidentally). But the ghost behind the door takes away TWO lives. So you lose 2 lives to the floating ghosts purposefully so you have only 1 left. Then you open the monster door which takes away 2. 1 minus 2 is -1, but the programming doesn’t check for this. Instead, 1-2 wraps around to 255, which makes it seem like you have infinite lives.

I used to use the Max controler too for this game. The reason why there was only 3 was because there was originaly only 3 ghostbusters. The reason why they had hats is to make them all match lol.

Commodore 64 version is the best. Great music, can choose a variety of cars, no need to collect gas and no fucking stairs stage!

I wish James, Mike and Bootsy were the new Ghostbusters. I bet a Ghostbusters style movie made by James would be insanely good!

  • July 14, 2016 at 4:35 pm

I’ve always loved how the Ecto-1 and other cars look like rejected enemies from Spy Hunter. ?

Hey, Nerd, please, check this out!!! Do you know this NES version of Ghostbusters II? It is a production of Hal, published in 1992. I had never seen this before, and is a very good version compared with the other shits related to Ghostbusters in 8 bits. Mi nombre es Andrés y te envío saludos desde Chile.

PD: I miss the REALLY ANGRY nerd in your show…
