Mike saying “Can I try?” is his nice way of saying “James, stop messing up and letting me show you how it is done”…

Then: FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!! (hitting couch with fist) LOL!

      • March 16, 2016 at 12:16 pm

James really does STINK at a lot of these games lol. They should both just give the controller to Bootsy while James rubs his feet and Mike feeds him Dr Pepper through a straw.

As always, awesome stuff! Hoping the rest of the games on the cart are just as good.

I’ve always been tempted to rip the sprites from Action 52, remake every game, and toss it out on Steam for free. Even started doing that to Jekyll and Hyde but could never find the motivation.

A real cartridge of that stuff is amazing though.

Great video, I was stressing out just watching you guys play. Imagine your lives were limited? I’m glad you guys enjoy a challenge. These types of the games are the most entertaining to watch.

Stephen King’s It (the novel) came out in ’86. I know I’m the millionth person to say this, but the book is really better than the movie. The last time I checked they were having trouble getting the ball rolling with the remake.

I programmed the menu system and a few of the included games (Thwaite, Concentration Room, and ZapPing, though not STREEMERZ). You might see some of them on the next episode where they delve into the other 15 piles of

It looks fun, but the ROM for it needs an emulator with mapper #28 support… and, it’s not really worth installing another emulator and maybe even more software just to play it.

Thumbs up, just because Bootsy is in this episode! <3
    He´s awesome!

“Kiss me, fatboy”! Literally the best line in the miniseries! As for the book… Haven’t read it… just yet. Don’t know why, but I’ll definitely get around to it, one of these days!

This is awesome! I remember the Action 52 version of ’21: Streemerz’. It had clowns, rabbitd in hats, balloons, money bags that turn into angry faces. Guess they went a different route with the Action 53 version.

James/Mike/Bootsy, in case you didn’t know, this game very likely exists, at least in part, thanks to James’ Action 52 review. When the popularity of Action 52 increased thanks to the exposure people started remaking the individual games but trying to make them more fleshed out, and more importantly, good. ‘Streemerz’ was a shit ‘game’ in Action 52 and this is the remake of it. It’s part of the “Action 53” collection of remakes, hence the naming.

Also, this isn’t a mod of Bionic Commando. A mod MODifies another games code to create something new. Most mods are stupid little changes but you’ve covered some of the more complex ones where people actually knew how to modify the code itself and not just the graphics and stuff.

This, however, is homebrew like Battle Kid. Most homebrew is simple since they start from scratch and learning how to code an NES game from scratch these days is not a talent most people have, or is even really in demand. So, the fact that something this fleshed out that was coded from scratch was made should give you a little more respect for the developer. There is NO Bionic Commando code in the game at all. It obviously has been inspired by Bionic Commando but that’s likely just because the coders of Action 52 were obviously inspired by it as well when they made Streemerz and, how do you make Streemerz not suck? Well, make it more like Bionic Commando, a great game! =)

Just thought you might find that interesting!

Any Chance you guys are going to play “Legendary Wings” or “Gauntlet” for NES? Wings was a game i played all the time growing up, and Guantlet (2 at least) was one of the few four-score games, and damn if it wasnt’ fun…and frusterating. Be cool to share this w/u guys.

Why not do an epic 7-10 part with a classic RPG like final fantasy or even something like Ocarina of time (not a true rpg) but something that requires some time and investment from everyone. You could even include comments for hints and tips and so on. Just a thought
