I know I’m only 19, but you guys would be the coolest friends to hang around. All my other friends only care about the new PS4 games, and hardly ever share a love for vintage games like I do.

I know how you feel. I have a whole game room filled with NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii and Wii U games. But none of my friends want to play NES or SNES. Not even N64! Gets kinda lonely in there.

If you live in Cali, we should hang.

I feel you. Guess I got really lucky though. Met my boyfriend who happens to be 25 (Im 36) who loves retro gaming

  • December 7, 2015 at 3:08 am

Seeing that big Star Wars logo, it makes me remember.. I’ve always wondered about how it goes with copyrights of anything featured within avgn or other cinemassacre shows. Have you guys ever been forced to remove stuff before?

    • December 7, 2015 at 3:12 am

Yeah, especially when Nintendo is so anal about youtube.

      • Andrew Kocher

        December 7, 2015 at 3:15 am

Let alone downloading “illegal” roms for games that are so old, they’d would cost whole lot of effort and a fortune to actually collect them all to play.

What nintendo is really about is the illegal use of emulator. But our James and Mike are recording with the real machine.

What nintendo is really pissed off about is the illegal use of emulator. But our James and Mike are recording with the real machine.

Fair use is perfectly legal to take other people’s content to discuss or review.

        December 7, 2015 at 6:15 am

Let’s be clear, “Fair Use” is a perfectly legal DEFENSE against copyright infringement. He could still be accused and have it make it all the way to litigation before he could invoke fair use.

I think some videos have been taken down from YouTube because they featured movie clips or something like that (I know some AVGN episodes had to be re-edited for the DVD releases), but that content has usually been allowed to be posted on this website in their unedited form.

        December 12, 2015 at 5:16 pm

I think a lot of people are getting confused about what Nintendo tries removing. They definitely hate the emulator/rom/hacking scene, but ALSO they are very vigilant in reporting streaming Nintendo games on youtube- UNLESS that streamer has already agreed to Nintendos streaming terms, which I hear are just ridiculous. This is different. There’s nothing streamed here. Even if you were streaming Nintendo games, that whole thing about Nintendo only applies if the (nintendo) game is either brand new, or hasn’t been released yet.

How funny would it be if they were so far behind, they were still in the process of shooting it? I wonder if it’s ever come down that close to the wire.

Ha no, just forgot the embed code. Not the first time. Probably not the last. But far behind, Yes! I’m still finishing up the 25 Bad Game Cover videos, still haven’t started on AVGN episode, amongst other videos. The whole year has been a race against the clock.

I think it sucks that Disney decided not to use Lucas’s treatments for Episodes VII-IX. At least it still has Luke, Leia and Han though. If I recall correctly, Lucas’s idea also involved their children.

It was really fun hearing you guys talk about Star Wars. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the new movie. I have my ticket ready for 12/17 7pm IMAX 3D!

It’s funny that your daughter inherited your shit humor. XD

    • December 7, 2015 at 11:32 am

I dunno man, I saw the treatment he gave Episodes 1-3. While they aren’t bad Star Wars movies, I don’t consider 1-3 cannon to 4-6. For one reason, they aren’t even connected that well to each other. So we’ll see how well 4-6 connects to 7-9.

    December 7, 2015 at 11:35 am

Apparently Lucas’s ideas will be used for some of the new expanded universe stuff that will come along with the films–I would have been fine with him doing treatments and then Abrams and co translating them to scripts and films since, well, while people can bitch about the prequels, that’s what they did with Lucas with Empire, and that turned out just fine (well, ROTJ too, I like that film as well.) Lucas does seem actually surprisingly chill with him being put aside, I guess he wants to enjoy retirement and be content that if they fuck up, he won’t be the target for once. 😉

  • gjr7318

    December 7, 2015 at 12:57 pm

They could write about them eating pie in the sky and it doesn’t legitimize it any more if it’s written by Lucas over some random goon.

  • Weldin Dunn

My favorite thing about the prequels is the “death sticks” scene.

  • December 7, 2015 at 7:04 pm

It’s kinda annoying how every thinks Lucas was THE guy responsible for the awesomeness of the original trilogy.

    • December 7, 2015 at 7:15 pm

Ugh.. The 3rd was a turd. Although Darth Maul is in for 10 minutes total, I thought he was incredible. I love how just aggressive he is and stfu. Episode 2 was the worst to me, all those cheesy love scenes kill it for me.

I remember working at KFC during the release of Episode I and seeing all of the characters in game tokens you could collect and redeem for prizes. I even won an exclusive set of pins for selling the most collector cups for the month…yay. I have to say I was excited at the time to see the movie, I even enjoyed the movie while watching it just because it was in the Star Wars universe; it never compared to the original three though. Can’t believe the prequels have audiences who think they are better than the originals. That just goes to show that some from the newer generation lack appreciation for the time and effort it took to pull off those sequences for it’s time and the technology available to production crew. A great story line always trumps any special effect in my book, the originals just so happen to have both.

Crappy Doo with Poopy Power ;))

  • December 7, 2015 at 11:08 pm

In the Japanese text, the Darth Vader introduces himself as “Scorpion Vader” actually. It still doesn’t make much sense but at least he doesn’t call himself “Darth”.

    • December 7, 2015 at 11:12 pm

He says “I am known as Scorpion Vader. Your friends are inside here.”
      Something to that effect…

As a father of young kids, it is great occasionally hearing about your daughter. I am sure that your realized you could do a bullshit episode about baby girl socks. Each pair is unique which means you will never find matches and she will grow so fast that you will never find any that fit.

Good God… Everyone should Google search “Gary Kurtz IGN” and read his interview about HE and Lucas conceived the entire Star Wars saga together. Hearing James talk out of his ass about George coming up with concepts and plans for the sequels sounds so asinine.

    • diegowar

      December 9, 2015 at 10:37 am

I’ve just did what you said, and I don’t see what you’re talking about. In no point in the interview is there anything to disprove the fact that it was George Lucas thinking about how the sequels and prequels were going to be. If anything Kurtz pretty much says that it was indeed George who came up with plans for 9 films in totals. I really can’t understand what you’ve been smoking to think that Kurtz conceived the whole Star Wars Saga on the same level as Lucas. He was a producer, he discusses with the director and writer, that’s what every producer does.

This was the article that made me most interested in Lucas’s treatments for the sequel films. I guess we’ll never know.

      • December 8, 2015 at 7:16 am

I loved the unofficial stuff that were released.. Books, games etc. Pisses me of that the next movie will just ignore it all even if it was meticulously constructed to match everyone’s stories.

Luke better be the Sith at least.. It’s like the only main thing that should stay.

      • bud

        December 8, 2015 at 11:18 am

They’ve made such a point to leave Luke out of all the trailers and marketing and all that (even press interviews), I’m sure they’re doing something interesting with his character.

      • December 8, 2015 at 4:46 pm

Finger crossed! Btw, do you have some kind of trick to receive notif. when someone replies to you? Talking on here is so hard because you have to keep track of everything.

No trick as far as I know. I just have to keep checking! 😉

        D’oh. Thanks though.

  • December 8, 2015 at 2:06 pm

It took 6 minutes to start the frickin game !! My god!!

  • December 9, 2015 at 11:48 pm

So ok, I work directly on SWTOR and Lucas still has all say on content and design, despite the Disney takeover. Just thought you would be happy to hear that.

  • December 10, 2015 at 6:08 pm

    Hey guys,

Since you are going to make pure Star Wars Games on all December and you already tackled Star Wars (Famicom), how about if you tackle Super Star Wars from Episode 4 through 6, or just Episode 4 next week, that would be cool.

Also, in two weeks, why don’t you tackle Star Wars: Rogue Squadron or Star Wars Battlefront 1 or 2 or even Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on GameCube or Xbox. I would love to see you guys tackle any of these games in two weeks.

    • December 10, 2015 at 6:17 pm

And yes, I checked the Game Collection lists and they say that James has Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64), Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on GameCube and Mike has Star Wars Battlefront 1 for the PS2. So you can play them guys.

Try Super Star Wars next week or probably Star Wars Rogue Squadron (N64), then go in two weeks Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and in three weeks, go and tackle Star Wars Battlefront 1 as the big finale. It would be AWESOME!

Alec Guinness knew it was going to be a hit. He hated the series. He hated the lines he had to deliver, but he knew it was going to be a hit. On the Alec Guinness page on Wikipedia, it says, “He negotiated a deal for 2.25% of the gross royalties paid to the director, George Lucas, who received one-fifth of the box office takings. This made him very wealthy in his later life.”
