Looks more like the battle with Jason in Friday the 13th NES game. Speaking of which have you seen the Friday the 13th video game coming out next year? YOu can play as jason.

Also I am having trouble replying to comments. it says it goes through, but then the message never shows up.
November 9, 2015 at 2:01 am
This game looks so off. the Training stages remind me of Rocky on Master System.
November 9, 2015 at 9:51 pm
Rocky’s were way better.
November 9, 2015 at 2:07 am
Epic Punch out II
November 9, 2015 at 2:21 am
JAMES AND MIKE!!!!! Not James and FUCKING DOUG!!!!!!! Good job!!
November 10, 2015 at 11:22 am
Right? Can’t stand Doug.
November 9, 2015 at 2:46 am
I get the concept. Mike Tyson is considered the best, so no one on Earth can top him. So they take him into space. World Champion must become the Universal Champion.
What happened to Little Mac? His trainer probably ate him.
November 9, 2015 at 2:51 am
Would have liked to see the nerd play this game
November 9, 2015 at 3:27 am
This game is so awful that it makes Ring King look like a masterpiece. Getting through the training portion correctly is crucial, and if you don’t build up the three meters in the training areas you’ll never get anywhere. There are some hacks of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, and the one called “Phred’s Cool Punch-Out 2 Turbo” has an opponent named “Ken Barryhil”, which happens to look a lot like James:
November 9, 2015 at 3:45 am
If this wasn’t connected to Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, I doubt they would have gone so far as to call the game garbage
November 9, 2015 at 4:42 am
Joking around and calling games “garbage” or some variant of the word is kind of their thing around here… You are at the home of AVGN and these two are the brains behind it, after all. It’s just natural that some of that is going to come through even though it’s not an AVGN episode itself.
November 9, 2015 at 6:26 am
My brother bought this game from Fingerhut back in the day. We both actually became quite good at it. Albeit we took turns but we got so far as the final fight. Btw the key to the training part is when you see the trainers glove flash you have to hit it quickly with the correct hand it takes a lil bit of getting used to but once you do your stats will increase enough to do plenty of damage. As for the fights themselves as you found out you can’t go full throttle right away. The name of this game is patience. Give it a go again it’s not as bad of a game as you might think. Keep up the good work fellas!
November 9, 2015 at 6:36 am
The problem with this game is that if you don’t have the attention span or patience to do the training stages well, you’re going to get clobbered. But..If you do well on training, you’ll kick major ass.
November 9, 2015 at 8:36 am
James & Mike Mondays is just depressing. I wish, instead of whining about how bad every game is, you two would put a little research into what you’re playing. Obviously the training stage was important. Show us what that’s all about. Introduce us to the game and have fun with it instead of acting like you don’t even want to do the show with your arms crossed on the couch.
November 9, 2015 at 8:41 am
Rewatched the show again, and this is by far one of the worst shows you’ve done. Quality over quantity guys.
November 9, 2015 at 10:38 am
FYI – Mike Tyson went to prison on rape charges and that is why Nintendo replaced him with Mr. Dream.
November 9, 2015 at 9:44 pm
Both you and James are correct. Nintendo’s contract with Tyson had expired, and since Tyson had gone to jail for rape, they had no real reason to renew it. So… there ya go! 🙂
November 9, 2015 at 11:17 am
What I heard was Mike was taken out of Punch Out because of the whole rape trial thing.
November 9, 2015 at 11:25 am
They did make a game about the next guy. It was on the Genesis and called “”Buster” Douglas KO Boxing”. It was better than Power Punch II, but I definitely wouldn’t call it good.
November 9, 2015 at 11:30 am
Oh, and the next guy? He has a game on Genesis as well and it’s called “Evander Holyfield’s “Real Deal” Boxing”. I wouldn’t really call that one “good” either. The next and, I think, last guy Was Riddick Bowe, who also had games on the SNES, Game boy and I think Game gear as well.
November 9, 2015 at 12:17 pm
you guys should research or practice the games a bit before hand
November 9, 2015 at 2:17 pm
Sounds to me what you want is punch out exactly as is, just re skinned to outer space.
November 9, 2015 at 5:24 pm
Super Punch Out on SNES is fantastic. I am very surprised to hear Mike say its shitty. I’m not going to compare it to its NES predecessor because they are both extremely well made, but slightly different. The see through thing is not a big deal, you get used to it quickly.
The rhythm that James was mentioning is very strong with Super and the new characters are all fun and interesting to fight.
I hope you guys give it a chance!
November 10, 2015 at 6:55 pm
Yeah, Super Punch Out is classic.
November 9, 2015 at 6:06 pm
On the training just hit on the flashing trainer glove instead of spamming any key.
November 13, 2015 at 8:49 pm
This is pretty obvious, and I think they figured that out. You can see all the punches come in late. I don’t think it was a lack of understanding what to do, just that there wasn’t enough time in the training sequences for them to figure out the timing.
November 9, 2015 at 7:38 pm
Of course the game sucks! It was developed by freaking Beam Software, who gave us the LJN “classics” Back to the Future and BTTF2&3!
November 10, 2015 at 1:20 am
Snes punch out is (in my opinion) better than the nes version. Punch out on wii is very good too. Played the arcade once, also very fun, but the fight commentator was really annoying. Basically, only this crap (power punch 2) sucks.
November 10, 2015 at 2:25 am
So surprised to hear that Mike doesn’t like Super Punch Out, and that James has never played it! I think you guys should give it a chance, it’s very good.
November 10, 2015 at 1:09 pm
I was shocked and a bit disappointed too. Super Punch-Out is an excellent Super Nintendo game and a lot of fun, James never even played it? Weird. I am a die-hard Cinamassochist but sometimes can’t help by shake my head and some of this stuff
November 11, 2015 at 2:35 am
The whole time you guys were ranting about how Mike Tyson’s Punch Out never got a proper sequel, I was thinking what about Super Punch Out?! And then when it finally did come up you were completely dismissive of it. Disappointing to say the least. I know if you gave it an honest shot you would like it. Like the original though, it’s a tough game that takes a lot of practice to beat, but at least it’s a good game and not this Power Punch 2 horseshit.
November 10, 2015 at 2:48 am
Week 24 of 52: I would like to request ‘Archon’
It would make a great video 🙂
November 10, 2015 at 3:53 pm
Fight night champion is the best boxing game out there.
November 11, 2015 at 5:01 am
There is a character you fight later on that has a tank body, and looks a lot like General Dark Onward from the AVGN Movie. Ever since seeing the movie, I have wondered if this was the inspiration for the character.
November 11, 2015 at 5:03 am
He’s an army guy, too. Skip to 20:05
November 11, 2015 at 5:04 am
oops forgot the link.
November 11, 2015 at 1:18 pm
Do comments need to be approved somehow? just posted 5 paragraphs long comment, but it did not appear =(
November 11, 2015 at 1:46 pm
Jesus, you guys are fucking pathetic. Do some fucking research before playing a game, nobody wants to watch you whine the whole episode. Especially Mike, shut the fuck up.
November 13, 2015 at 8:33 pm
How dare you basically accuse these guys of being lazy! Fuck you, dude. This is them playing the game right out of the box, never touching it before. If you are expecting a “proper” internet review of the game with all the research and hours of time put in and only some key moments, tips, tricks, whatever then this is NOT the show you should be watching. That isn’t what this show is about. Get a life.
November 11, 2015 at 2:52 pm
Normally I’m not one to repeat something already said many times but about that Super Punch-Out… really, give it a go. It’s so much fun. It’s got the same therapeutic effect you talked about when you played Batman Returns but also the joy of figuring out the patterns. If “being transparent” is the only reason to criticize that, that’s just lame.
November 11, 2015 at 7:58 pm
This is my favorite show on cinemassacre! The only reason to wake up on mondays without wanting to die is knowing there will be a new episode! Please for the love of people that hate mondays, NEVER STOP DOING IT!
November 12, 2015 at 12:31 am
Someone recreated Mario Kart with the Unreal Engine 4 and put it up to download it for free.
I thought you guys maybe wanna check it out in a James & Mike Monday or maybe with Ryan.
However here is the link to that Youtube video:
November 12, 2015 at 4:18 pm
If you haven’t seen Mike Tyson’s Mysteries on Cartoon Network, do yourself a favor. It comes on Sunday nights at 11 PM central. It is AMAZING. Lol!
November 16, 2015 at 7:18 pm
I normally really like these shows but why are you endlessly whining at this one… very underwhelming. It’s like you are going out of your way to hate it. Not fun.
November 17, 2015 at 8:37 am
That training screen is supposed to be a “power up” phase. You button mash to get your strength and power up to beat that borg … but GOOD LUCK getting your stats and power up!!
November 19, 2015 at 11:59 pm
Tyson was convicted of rape, that’s why they took him out. The contract on Bird Vs Jordan probably ran out too but they never changed the game.
November 20, 2015 at 12:10 am
Mike is seriously an idiot.
He doesn’t get the concept of scarcity with Zelda titles and hype with IP’s that both, took a lot of thought and development at the time and still does, and why having lots of them ruins the special nature of the games.
Nintendo also had other series to work on.
November 20, 2015 at 3:11 pm
Funny that you mention Don King, the original prototype version did feature him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf4Bg4hqG5E
November 23, 2015 at 2:25 am
I have not played the game, but what I can tell from this awesome video, is that the training is the key to success. I noticed that the trainer is in so-called 3d. If he moves his outer arm (his right arm) you must match the punch holding the up, left (for straight punch), or down; then push the button for your players left arm to punch the trainers right hand. I assume your player’s left arm is controlled by the NES controller”s B button and the right arm by the A button. So as the trainer moves his glowing inner glove (defined by his body blocking the view of the whole upper arm, Left arm) I would suggest moving the d-pad to the position then hitting the button that represents your players right arm, (probably A as deduced earlier). I am very curious to see if I am correct. If anyone can check it out, please let me know the results. Thank You in advance.

I’ve never even heard of this game. With good reason, it seems. This is a really shitty sequel. I’m surprised you didn’t save it for AVGN. Not enough material? Oh, there was a Punch-Out for Wii, too.
