I love the invisible man, nice review James.

Thank god mike wasn’t in this video as well. Every episode his annoying voice, cutting off James to say some constricting opinion that will instantly change if James says something better. Keep up the great reviews James πŸ˜›

I used to come to Cinemassacre every day but now I come once every few weeks. Mike Matei’s ego has turned me off of coming here. He acts incredibly immature & constantly over talks James. It’s hard to watch, it’s like when you have a friend who hangs around with a guy who’s just not very nice.

I can’t judge the guy because I don’t know him but he’s definitely alienating alot of fans.

I’d be interested to see if their numbers are dropping because of this.

I don’t think James should bin Mike but he (James) definitely needs to do wayyy more solo projects.

I hate to say it, but i am relieved when Mike isn’t involved as well. He has very simplistic, immature opinions and views that really are a turn off. James isn’t exactly the deepest guy in the world either, but his obvious love for what he’s doing overcomes that most times.

        October 29, 2015 at 3:19 pm

Simplistic, immature opinions? Really? Not sure I agree with you, depends on how you judge the opinions. Also I think so-called “maturity” and “sophistication” are far too worshipped and keep the Real out of things. I’m not a fan the too-oft-interrupting of James (I agree with people there), but other than that, I have no complaints.

        October 30, 2015 at 10:17 am

I feel like there are a lot of intended deeper meanings to things that Mike simply doesn’t get. It is frustrating to hear him spout his opinions that are obviously based in lack of understanding.

    • October 29, 2015 at 10:35 am

I really enjoy having Mike on the show. It’s nice to hear a different viewpoint on things.

      • October 31, 2015 at 12:16 pm

i bet Mike is a great help, but as a speeker or side kick he absolutely sucks. He doenst articulate as good as james and to top it all he steps over james A lot. When James is talking you can actually learn; Mike badmouths every little aspect of everything and honestly you can easily see how far he is from james either in cinematic culture and sensitivy over the artistic aspects of whatever they are analysing.

      October 29, 2015 at 10:52 am

Actually, I am always a bit disappointed when Mike’s not there! I strongly believe that James and Mike are building better and stronger opinions when they’re sharing their point of views. Mike’s doing a great job. Maybe you’re the one who’s ”not very nice”

      • meinerHeld

        October 29, 2015 at 3:19 pm

I am definitely NOT disappointed when Mike’s not there! I love the solo James!

      • October 29, 2015 at 6:39 pm

I would have to disagree with you.

I am also not disappointed when Mike isn’t at front.

For things like James and Mike Mondays, Mike is indispensable, which can be seen in the episode where he leaves and James has to finish the video alone. You could feel a huge void even behind a computer screen. That said, I don’t necessarily like it when they handle their movie reviews like a J&M show, but Mike, without a doubt, complements this site in more ways than one.

One of my all time favorites when you were the joker. Truly hilarious and unforgettable. Hope you don’t take it personal. I feel bad now me sorry πŸ˜›

I generally like that James has someone helping him.

    • October 29, 2015 at 6:13 pm

What I suspect may have happened is that James asked Mike for help doing short free-style talks, maybe to save time and/or energy (remember 80s-a-thon?) and that Mike was like “sure, I’ll help you out!”, James is married and has a small child, he’s probably not exactly swimming in time. Perfectly plausible and sympathetic of Mike, yes yes?

      • October 31, 2015 at 1:21 pm

well… i think james job is cinemassacre. So you cant cut corners on your job. Specially when you pioneered in a certain style. its awfull, but james set is standarts so high that mantaining them its a dauting task. i bet mike is a great guy and probably the reason that cinemassacre gives us so much but having Mike, as a reviewer, its worse than realesing less articles. I love mike as a shadow master not as the front man.

    • October 29, 2015 at 6:36 pm

I just created an account just to agree with this statement. Mike is getting too annoying.

I dont dislike Mike, but yeah he just gets way too excited and constantly talks over James. I know he’s not doing it on purpose, he just loves to talk about movies. But still, its annoying. He needs to realizes that theres no rush and to let james speak when he has something to say. After all, we all watch Monster Madness to hear what James has to say.

      October 30, 2015 at 5:13 am

Every Cinemassacre video Mike is in, I want to avoid. I was really bummed James didn’t review Human Centipede or The Descent without Mike. He’s always cutting off James and for being in his mid 30’s, he’s incredibly immature.

    • October 31, 2015 at 1:14 am

i can see where you are coming from but i don’t know, i didn’t mind him that much, i seem to have liked their unscripted discussion videos

He was the Invisible Man once as I’m sure you know ya smarmy fuck. I thought the movie was pretty decent. If you can dig his humor of course.

  • October 29, 2015 at 5:39 am

I feel like I’m invisible and nobody loves me. lol I’ll finally watch this one all the way through on the projector sometime soon. I’m trying to do a horror movie a day until the day of our lord.

  • October 29, 2015 at 6:48 am

FINNALY, a no-mike video. Now i can actually learn something.

    • October 29, 2015 at 11:34 am

What the hell are you talking about? 20 of the 31 videos don’t have Mike. Have you even been watching?

      • Lukas Sprehn

        January 31, 2016 at 1:56 pm

Thanks for finally speaking up for the way people are critisizing Mike. Mostly they’re spouting opinions but not being constructive at all. There’s a lot of spite in the comments, and it’s a bit annoying.

    • October 29, 2015 at 2:17 pm

You want to learn something? How about proper manners. Example: If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it. Maybe after that you can learn how to spell. πŸ˜›

Mike will you follow back @Apache_blood? Thank you so much, great video.

  • October 29, 2015 at 7:31 am

While i agree that i like it better when its just James doing a review, theres no need for all the hate on Mike.

    • Hanglyman

      October 29, 2015 at 7:42 am

Or at least no need to be rude about it. I personally don’t like Mike’s style either- he interrupts a lot to the point of overpowering James verbally, and is kind of crude and misogynistic in his commentary. He’s also done a lot for the site behind the scenes, is good in his AVGN and Board James roles, and sometimes does have some interesting stuff to say. Constructive criticism is fine, just have some respect for the guy.

      • Fred Fuchs

        October 29, 2015 at 12:11 pm

Misogynistic? What because he said a movie has hot girls in it? Lol go fuck yourself Tumblr.

  • Hanglyman

    October 29, 2015 at 7:34 am

The Invisible Woman also looks really risque for the time when you remember that, to be completely invisible, a person has to be naked. Even the review seems to feature her stripping down to nothing in front of her boss! Granted, the men have to be just as nude, but it’s a little less titillating when it’s a power-mad monster or a desperate spy.

  • October 29, 2015 at 8:19 am

oooooooh man!! πŸ˜€ I LOVE the Invisible Man

  • October 29, 2015 at 8:56 am

Great review but what about the two remakes? ‘Memoirs of an Invisible Man’ and ‘The Hollow Man’.

    • Cilliandrew

      October 29, 2015 at 10:18 am

Sam Neill was awesome in “MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN”. Rhona Mitra was about the best part of “HOLLOW MAN”. I always felt that was a bit toooo mean-spirited. Normally i like Paul Verhoeven.

  • October 29, 2015 at 9:58 am

I’ve been waiting years for you to do this series! I feel like the Invisible Man has always been overshadowed by the other monsters.

  • October 29, 2015 at 10:50 am

Love this site. Can do without the same ad playing for EVERY single video. Oh well, James and Mike are worth it.

  • October 29, 2015 at 11:56 am

I must admit, I prefer the monster madness the old way and think they got a bit lazy this year, as all the James an Mike ones were obviously done the same day so they didn’t do a video a day like the past.
But saying Mike has an ego is a bit much, He’s just as much a part of Cinemassacre as James. Almost always involved in everything.
Yes MM was better the old way, but times change, And don’t just blame Mike, an so what if he agrees with James a lot, so do you lot!

  • handsome pete

    October 29, 2015 at 12:23 pm

I like how the Invisible Man series is kind of similar to the Dracula series. There’s a murder mystery sequel, a female sequel, a John Carradine sequel, and an Abbott and Costello sequel.

  • SirSuperSouthern

    October 29, 2015 at 1:39 pm

Do A Serbian Film – it’s a horror porn with a great message, an extremely dark one though it is.

I also have to agree with the posters here who’d like to see/listen much less Mike. In a recent horror review he couldn’t STFU during the entire thing instead of just sitting back and chime in with nice observations…

  • October 29, 2015 at 2:37 pm

That last one looks uber funny! Would be amazing to watch stoned!

  • fanboyfilms

    October 29, 2015 at 3:18 pm

Nice reviews, I haven’t seen any of these classic Invisible Man movies!

I also have to take these posters to task for the Mike hate, it’s not deserved. Mike does talk a lot and sometimes interrupts but it’s clearly because he’s enthusiastic about the subject matter, not rude. He and James talking comes across very natural as two old friends talking about something they love.

I do also like when James does his solo videos, as his thoughts are more organized and he can actually get a word in edgewise. πŸ˜‰

I think what most commenters are trying to say but don’t know how to be mature and civil about it, not all because some are well spoken, but we just want Jales to finish his opinions. All of them. Most people, if not all, come to the site to see James. I like Mike in everything he does as well, I’m not one of the haters, but it’s like we really wish James would finish what he’s trying to say and not be so nice in completely stopping what he’s saying to let Mike bear over him, or like when Mike tries to talk louder than James thinking that’s the way to get his time to talk. We love James ANS want to hear every word he has to say, crazy as it may be, but that’s just the way it is.
Anyways I always loved the Invisible Man. I used to stay up late with my Dad to watch these in the late 80’s when they would air late at night. Still blown away by the special effects for the time. Still amazing.

Solo, scripted James is the best reviewer on the net.

  • macs311

    October 29, 2015 at 9:25 pm

really? Mike’s “ego” is getting in the way of James’ reviews???
the videos they perform together are just CONVERSATIONS, they’re not supposed to be only James’ showing his point of view and his experiences, they’re talking about a movie, as “equals”, just like sometimes there’s someone else in other videos. It’s not a competition and surely they don’t feel like it.
I’d like to see any Monster Madness video made by the two of them, cause together they bring up more facts and things and opinions about the movies, more than just narrating briefly the plot which is most of the time what happens (still interesting, but less) in the solo videos.

Surprised there was no mention of Paul Verhoeven’s Hollow Man. I know it’s not technically part of the series, but it’s about a scientist who turns himself invisible and goes off the deep end shortly after. Seems like it warranted bringing up at least.

This is not related to the video but I will say yes I do find Mike’s voice cracking annoying at times, and yes he can sometimes be unbearable to watch but he has his good moments too. I don’t mind him doing his own reviews which is interesting. When he is with James it seems he is kind of ass kissing when he changes his opinions or seems unsure of what he is saying but maybe he is just gets nervous. Either way he helps James with camera work and a lot of things behind the scenes I just think he needs to let others speak and wait for his turn to talk. I really enjoyed him in the Board James Halloween special he played an awesome role there. Both funny and entertaining.
