Hi, awesome movie! Can’t wait for the vid!

    • October 14, 2015 at 8:14 am

No more zombies please, I am sick and tired of those movies. In fact I have never seen one of the 2 billions they made about zombies because I dont find zombies interesting at all.

        October 14, 2015 at 9:29 am

So, you’re basing your opinion on movies you’ve never seen?
        ….. sounds reasonable! πŸ˜€

      • October 14, 2015 at 9:35 am

Too bad for you, because it’s one of the best movie ever in my list. Sure, zombies got popular and attracted a lot of derp lately, but it’s no reason to hate it.

      • October 14, 2015 at 2:35 pm

Yea and no more cop movies, or alien movies, or gangster movies, or movies with people in them….

      • October 14, 2015 at 6:51 pm

So if you’re not watching them anyway, what difference does it make whether there are more or not?

Hey Mike, do you guys make (not upload) the Monster Madness series before October, or after? If so, do they affect the amount of time you’re able to put into your streaming? I’m having withdrawal symptoms from not getting my fix, if you know what I mean. I’m kind of hooked on them.

    • October 14, 2015 at 3:28 am

Monster Madness is uploaded all through October – 1 video a day.

new friday the 13th game coming out, looks good.

      • Andrew Kocher

        October 14, 2015 at 4:04 am

But are they made and edited during October?

        October 14, 2015 at 10:00 am

I’m just going to take a wild stab in the dark and say he starts compiling and watching movies around August-September, but keeps editing the videos throughout the month until they’re released. There’s a few different styles this year; the casual unscripted conversation with Mike, the traditional talking over scenes (like this one) and also some re-edited older videos (comprising entire serieses). James has mentioned before he’s really busy lately, what with a family and all, so I’m guessing this is the most time-efficient method.

        October 14, 2015 at 2:25 pm

Too bad that Friday the 13th game is a Kickstarter project. When it comes to games on there, AVOID.

        October 14, 2015 at 7:57 pm

Regarding Bud’s comment. This year James has admitted at least once that he hasn’t watched some of these movies recently, though in other years that hasn’t seemed like the case.

    • October 14, 2015 at 5:57 am

I remember James saying somewhere that they start making them months in advance.

    • October 14, 2015 at 7:53 am

There is absolutely no way that James and Mike could make these IN October while it’s happening. Just no way. They have said before that it takes the better part of the year before October even hits, to get this all ready, meaning that these are all already done. And mind you, they’re making MM throughout the year while also making other content, like AVGN, Board James, James & Mike, etc.

I did two Monster Madness inspired podcasts where I reviewed a different zombie/werewolf every day for a month (The Dead Walktober, FebruWEREy). I did it all in October/February as I released them. Watching a movie, writing the script, editing in clips, and finalizing the whole thing every single day is absolutely maddening.

    • October 14, 2015 at 9:49 am

Typically, it takes about 6 months, from the time I start watching the movies, taking notes, writing the scripts, recording, editing, and they barely get done in the nick of time. This year, in particular, I am very behind schedule. Working on too many big projects at once. To answer your question, most of it is done before October starts, but not all of it.

    October 14, 2015 at 6:11 am

Great choice in movie and one of my faves. If you’re doing more horror/comedies, I hope you guys eventually get to the movie “Fido” which is also one of my favorites.

If you like the Cornetto Trilogy then watch Spaced, a British comedy that was filmed in the early 2000s and also stars nearly the whole cast of Shaun of the Dead. Is one of the best cult TV shows to ever air in the UK and is also made my Edgar Wright. The pan shots are a signature move that he has always used and gives his style the unique look. Check it out guys, i think you will enjoy.

      October 14, 2015 at 7:51 am

Also, can’t believe that ou don’t have Cornettos in the US. You haven’t lived.

        October 14, 2015 at 12:40 pm

We have Turkey Hill which is superior to Cornettos in every way. Ive had both. Also on the east coast we have custard, which is superior in every way as well. We are all set on ice cream here in the states, but thanks.

Cant post the episode! don’t know how the html coding works but Google it. i can guarantee that everyone on this site will love its pop cultural and movie references and influences.

    • October 14, 2015 at 8:30 pm

Spaced is fantastic. Although not as funny as Peep Show. But thank you UK for both of those genius programs.

    October 14, 2015 at 8:47 am

    Cornetto icecream is really good!

  • October 14, 2015 at 8:53 am

If you like Pegg and Frost, you should absolutely watch Spaced. Really great and funny sitcom which is full of pop culture references. it was on Netflix, but if not, it’ll definitely be on 4oD

    • October 14, 2015 at 9:37 am

Yeahhh, I’ve wanted to watch it for a while. I think that a lot of the actors in the trilogy were from that show too.

  • October 14, 2015 at 9:04 am

loved shaun of the dead.. funny yet gory.. a great comedy zombie film

  • Mac Tonight

    October 14, 2015 at 9:12 am

Out of the 3 cornettos trilogy this is my least favorite of the 3. I just don’t find this movie that funny or interesting. It just feels like another generic zombie movie. Hot fuzz and the worlds end were better movies for me.

  • October 14, 2015 at 9:56 am

What’s with the low quality video?

  • October 14, 2015 at 10:08 am

Probably one of my top 20 movies of all time, definitely in my top 10 horror movies of all times.

  • Jackred89

    October 14, 2015 at 10:20 am

    18. Shaun of the Dead
Man this was surprisingly a great parody movie. One of the few to be it’s own thing. I love how the entire movie plays out. A lot of great scenes for just one zombie movie but totally worth rewatching.

    • October 14, 2015 at 3:07 pm

Well, that’s because it’s not supposed to be parody. It’s a zombie movie and a comedy, but not a parody. Edgar Wright talks about this in the commentary.

You know it’s good when George Romero praises it

  • jake westbrook

    October 14, 2015 at 10:50 am

yea this is a pretty funny movie but hot fuzz and worlds end are way funnier.

  • October 14, 2015 at 11:06 am

Why are the video servers SOOOOO SLOW !?

  • Joorum

    October 14, 2015 at 11:17 am

Love how they use Goblin’s soundtrack piece “Zombi” from Dawn Of The Dead during the montage scene. Btw, I think Cornetto ice cream is gross. Way too sweet.

Cornetto is average, imo. YouΒ΄re not missing much. πŸ˜‰

  • Forsythia

    October 14, 2015 at 2:08 pm

This movie is more of an homage to zombie movies, like Galaxy Quest was an homage to Star Trek. The word ‘parody’ sounds too negative to my liking.

But yes, it’s a great movie. The entire Cornetto trilogy is great!

Now I’m off to the supermarket to buy some Cornettos, you guys are missing out! πŸ™‚

Awesome choice. I haven’t seen this in a while. I check it out again.

  • October 14, 2015 at 3:11 pm

I highly recommend The World’s End to anybody who like’s the Wright-Pegg-Frost trio. It is very nearly as good as Shaun of the Dead and better than Hot Fuzz.

  • October 14, 2015 at 3:33 pm

    October 14, 2015 at 10:45 pm

Not a bad movie, but considering this is strictly a comedy, its clear that MM is coming to an end.

Red is Horror (Zombies) – Strawberry
Blue is Action (Police Drama) – Vanilla
Green is Sci-Fi (Aliens) – Mint Chocolate Chip

It’s also known as the Ice Cream Trilogy

Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright did the same style of filming and editing previously (1999) in a British TV show called “Spaced” also starring Nick Frost. It’s still great and holds up, I recommend checking it out.

I love zombie movies and I love Shaun of the Dead!
The movie isn’t just a great zombie movie/ zombie parody/ romantic comedy (?) but also a great hommage to Romero’s zombie movies. Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have a cameo in Romero’s Land of the Dead ^^

Enjoying MM 09, but prefer the ones where you have a theme running through. Godzillathon, Camp Cult, 80’s athon etc… choices are very random this year, but hey it’s your baby.

Maybe you guys could do a Hot Fuzz entry in Monster Madness one day. I mean, maybe it’s not a horror movie per se, but it definitely has horror elements and the feel of a suspense thriller when it’s not being a buddy cop comedy. It’s also supposedly part of a trilogy sandwiched between two clear zombie (comedic) horror movies.

While it’s not exactly the same tone as the others (which I admittedly haven’t seen all of) it’s just a thought for a possible future Monster Madness review.

  • October 16, 2015 at 5:03 pm

It’s a great movie which i haven’t Seen for a while. I think i’ll give the original version a try, because i’ve only seen the german translation couple of times.

  • October 16, 2015 at 6:57 pm

I’ll echo what other Brits have said and recommend Spaced, a show from 1999. Brilliant show with so many TV and film references and shot in the same style as Shaun. Definitely worth a watch!

That movie always looked stupid to me. I’m not sure if it appeals to me more now that you’ve done a review, either. Still, hearing your thoughts on it is cool.

    • November 3, 2015 at 8:52 pm

I was actually hesitant about seeing this movie. I love zombie flicks, but its been done so much its ridiculous. With a title like Shaun of the Dead I was sure it would just be another goofy spoof. But, I finally watched it one day and to my surprise I really liked it. Like James said, the movie succeeds as a spoof and as a straight up zombie movie. This one is definitely a must-see.

  • September 12, 2016 at 10:45 pm

Shaun’s such a great, easy Halloween costume. I did it one year, and went bar-hopping, and I lost count of the number of “You’ve got red on you”s that I got.
