This game was sweet! Fun times!

    • July 13, 2015 at 1:25 am

Lets take a moment to be serious. Iwata Nintendo’s President has passed away. Best wishes to his family.

      • greedo

        July 15, 2015 at 9:08 pm

I was shocked to find out that he’s passed away. Can’t believe he’s gone. May he RIP.

    • Smokingspoon

      July 13, 2015 at 8:14 am

James’s got a family and responsibilities and yet he gives us at least 1 video a week plus an orgy of movies at halloween and still avgn once in a while, give him a break. I think he’s incredibly productive. And I’m sure Mike helps a lot too.

    • July 13, 2015 at 11:26 am

I love these guys as much as the next guy, but if making these videos is your source of income you should be giving the fans what they want. If he choose to have a family then he should be providing for them, not be “given a break” for it. He’s not ‘doing his friends a favor’, making videos in his off-hours. This is his JOB.

    • Highwing

      July 13, 2015 at 12:17 pm

Have to agree with all the above. I don’t think it’s because of his family/personal life either. I do think it’s a bit of burnout (no pun intended). Is one short AVGN episode a month really too much to ask? And I mean short – even under 10 minutes.

    • July 13, 2015 at 1:39 pm

I’ve been making comments about that for a while. I dont know if I hit the send button or if i hit the delete button before I send. Anyway, I think there is only so much AVGN to be made in the world, and maybe James has trouble bringing himself to thinking of what to do for an AVGN episode. I am hoping he can shift more to Board James and put AVGN on the shelf. He should also come up with another character. Not just himself blabbering on about some game like in James and Mike Mondays. He could also try to come up with an idea for another movie. Maybe he could outsource ideas to his fans to see what they want to see made in a movie. He could also open his site more to his friends who want to make videos, but don’t really have the stand alone power to start a new site. An example is the Mike and Ryan videos. They fill in the gap a bit while we wait for a James video. And frankly, Bootsy seems like he is muscling in a bit on the Board James videos. Maybe he wants to get more involved in video making. An any case, I hope this site doesnt get saturated with all of these “watch us play games” type videos. Lets hope James can catch his breath and find purpose and direction, and get back to work. It is his job after all.

    • MrBrrumpkins

      July 13, 2015 at 2:00 pm

I enjoy J&MM when they play old school games and stuff. The Mike & Ryan videos are pretty weak. The Board James story line was pretty cool, but I’d rather see a ‘normal’ review of them. James should kick out more short movie reviews.

    • Smokingspoon

      July 13, 2015 at 2:24 pm

I’m not even a fanboy, I’m just being logical. James has no obligation and he does most of it out of passion. The fact that he gets money from sponsors on his work is not a carrot big enough to keeps you going with passion. I’m looking more forward to J&MM than a new avgn as I thought they were becoming less fun than before, or maybe it’s just getting old. I like avgn and games, but I just love the cinemaphil side of him that I didn’t know about until recently.

    • July 13, 2015 at 2:31 pm

@smokingspoon: This is james job. He does have an obligation. Sooner or later we all have to get a job. He chooses to do this instead of doing a different job. Kevin Finn was in a video as the glitch gremlin. Kevin Finn doesnt make these games, he is a producer elsewhere. Either way, you have to do something. Jerry Seinfeld made Seinfeld episodes because it was his job. Michael Jackson’s job was to make music. Kudos to those whose job is something they like. Kudos to James who gets to make videos about content he likes. Kevin Finn probably has to produce things that he has no feelings about. My message to you is to make no mistake, James doesn’t only do this because he loves the content. It is his source of income.

    • Highwing

      July 13, 2015 at 2:31 pm

I agree, he doesn’t have an obligation. My point is that he just seems to feel burnt out because of the negativity surrounding the AVGN movie as well as recent episodes, which I don’t think should be the case. I just think AVGN can be as good as it used to be, and I wish James felt the same. I also think people have given excessive praise to J&MM, sometimes even thinking it’s better than AVGN, which makes no sense considering the amount of work/talent that goes into AVGN (or Board James, etc.) And this mentality probably makes James feel even less inspired to make AVGN.

    • Highwing

      July 13, 2015 at 2:33 pm

Well, to follow up to what Brandon said, I guess he’s right that James has somewhat of an obligation IF he wants to be a filmmaker. He could just choose some other job, though. But do we want that to happen to James? Don’t we want to see him make more good films?

    • Highwing

      July 13, 2015 at 2:35 pm

I really don’t wanna see him just making J&MMs for the rest of his life.

    • July 13, 2015 at 3:05 pm

I think Highwing has just said something that we all feel but hasn’t been explicitly said yet. We like James. We all want him to make quality content. We all hope he feels better. We all hope he doesn’t go back to his day job.

    • July 13, 2015 at 3:07 pm

He heasn’t “retired” AVGN, He just doesn’t have the same time to do it anymore. Also, Cinemassacre isn’t the only thing he does for money. You might not have intended to be a jerk, FOA, but that’s what it sounded like. Calling someone a “confirmed fanboy” (as if there’s something wrong with being a fan of something, i’m sick of this term) didn’t really help your case. Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, but you don’t have to be a jerk about sharing it.

This isn’t James’ “job”, and it’s not the only thing he does for a living. It’s just one of many projects for him. If you don’t like it anymore, just stop watching. He doesnt’ have any obligation to anything.

    • mike king

      July 13, 2015 at 3:34 pm

i think its funny as shit that mike changed his name to fuck off asshole…lmfao!!…if you no longer enjoy the content of the site why keep coming back and commenting on every video. im not saying you cant. but why the effort, just to waste time on videos you dont like.

      • MrBrrumpkins

        July 13, 2015 at 4:04 pm

We are fans expressing concern about the site’s content. We want James and Mike to take notice to improve the content.

      • Highwing

        July 13, 2015 at 10:23 pm

It’s not a waste of time, it’s constructive criticism. I just think James is a talented filmmaker and comedian and thus shouldn’t have to be relegated to doing a bunch of “let’s play” videos and hardly anything else. These comments sections are for all kinds of comments, not just positive/praising ones.

    • Grandmasterp

      July 13, 2015 at 5:24 pm

Burnout 3 is an awesome game to play a lot.

    • ToadRoad

      July 13, 2015 at 6:17 pm

I’ve wondered how much other work these guys do. I know James said in one video he was able to quit his corporate video editing job once AVGN got really successful and partnered with ScrewAttack/GameTrailers. Then for a while he was doing nothing but the movie, but now that he’s done with that the lack of content suggests he’s busy doing something else. Some people say he has a kid now and that’s the sole reason why, but it’s not like he just sits and stares at his child for 168 hours a week.

    • Smokingspoon

      July 13, 2015 at 7:19 pm

@Grant Dotter: Thanks for saying it, I wasn’t feeling like debating anymore but at least I wasn’t alone on this haha.. I don’t feel like Fuckofasso was a troll though, and being called fanboy doesn’t bother me much (Unless I’m not aware of how pejorative it got?)

No public personality has any obligation imo… But I guess it’s relative to one’s value. Any music star can just quit if they feel like it, but usually they are living expensively and wouldn’t want to lose that life. Idk what James cachet or lifestyle is, not that It’s anyone’s business, but as far as I know he’s doing this part time with another job or college studies.

Although, did an admin/mod really changed that guy’s name? Seems unlikely lol… I’m pretty sure anyone can change their own name anytime on here also.

And finally. I have to say I liked that episode of J&MM..! I was laughing as hard as them and it was great. Now I just feel like someone should delete this whole thread of reply. It’s clogging the whole section with an useless argument Dx…

    • FFXER

      July 14, 2015 at 2:06 am

@SMOKINGSPOON what are you talking about? You make it sound like were hating on James. Its just obvious that many fans feel the same way about this situation. Were concerned that Cinemassacre has changed and unfortunately not for the better. It went from unique video game reviews that were funny and educational but still managed to give decent feedback of the game, to mediocre reviews that you see all over youtube. JMM’s are fun to watch but they definetly shouldn’t be the feature presentation of Cinemassacre. I remember back when waiting for an AVGN episode felt like waiting for a Game of Thrones episode. You couldn’t wait for it and were so eager to watch it. Now it’s just ehh… I’m bored I might we well just watch this.

    • Highwing

      July 14, 2015 at 12:37 pm

Yes Ffxer said it pretty well. There is no hating on James here (or on Mike, or on anyone else). We just think they’re talented people and should be showcasing their talent better. They’re obviously capable of much more unique content. No they don’t HAVE to give us anything, but the reason we’re asking for better content is because we respect James and his work and want to see him put out more of it.

    • S3ntinel2001

      July 15, 2015 at 12:41 pm

James & Mike mondays are *Not* video reviews, get it straight.

  • Glorious Gerbil

    July 13, 2015 at 12:47 am

Burnout is a pretty nice racingseries, generally speaking though racing has got to be the most boring game genre. Except maybe sport games

    • ToadRoad

      July 13, 2015 at 4:17 am

Any game genre, like film or music, can be boring. Those are broad generalizations.

  • generalleoff

    July 13, 2015 at 12:48 am

The trucks max speed is 12.3 Undecillion MPH.

    • ToadRoad

      July 13, 2015 at 6:18 pm

      Haha. Did you check?

      • Smokingspoon

        July 13, 2015 at 7:22 pm

Iirc, the needle on the speed indicator just kept on accelerating haha
There isn’t a limit to it’s speed and it makes it even more funny!

      • generalleoff

        July 14, 2015 at 1:51 am

        Some guys on youtube checked.

  • July 13, 2015 at 12:52 am

From farming simulator to burn out… quite a change haha

  • Bags

    July 13, 2015 at 12:54 am

Half of this game is drifting. I recommend learning how.

  • itsahme

    July 13, 2015 at 12:59 am

Fun looking game! It reminds me of Destruction Derby.

    • Glorious Gerbil

      July 13, 2015 at 3:55 am

Destruction Derby 2 was absolutely gold! Remember gettin it on my lovely ps1 and you could feel the hits in your body when you got a real good crash! Been ages since i played it, think im going to have to look for a ps1 emulater this afternoon!

      • Mats Hiim

        August 12, 2015 at 5:12 pm

U guys should try Destruction Derby Raw which was the third game. Its very good, got splitscreen on everything. There is a scyscraper mode, were youre supposed to drive all the other cars of the roof. Its megafun to play against a friend. Can get the game on ps1

  • Bajter

    July 13, 2015 at 1:13 am

You guys should check out Rocket League! You’d both definitely like that title.

  • July 13, 2015 at 1:15 am

Burnout: Paradise for the PS3 is a little better.

  • July 13, 2015 at 1:23 am

Lets take a moment to be serious. Iwata Nintendo’s President has passed away. Best wishes to his family.

  • July 13, 2015 at 1:33 am

please play Die hard trilogy if you have it. Part 3 has a driving scene at the start and you can destroy your car by hitting the pedestrians. It is fun for about 5 minutes.

  • July 13, 2015 at 1:41 am

You should check out Road Rash Jailbreak on PS1. Easily the funniest and coolest motorcycle game out there, still unmatched.

  • LumpyKoalaBear

    July 13, 2015 at 2:29 am

The way they keep talkin’ about “getting burn” makes me think that “burn” is some new drug that they’re playing a game to collect.

  • Wayne

    July 13, 2015 at 2:29 am

It’s always a good idea to get engrossed in playing a game like this for a couple of hours and then take your family out for a drive on the expressway.

Someone should make a new video game based on the original, 1975 version of the movie Death Race 2000.

    • AbsoluteDeicide

      July 13, 2015 at 8:22 am

They did for the Atari. It was… not good.

      • Wayne

        July 13, 2015 at 7:46 pm

It looks like the Atari 2600 Death Race 2000 was just a hack of River Raid. There was an arcade game called Death Race that was released in 1976 that was supposedly based on Death Race 2000.

But, the potential game I’m describing would be new and would be released for at least one of the current game systems. It would have similarities to Burnout 3 or Grand Theft Auto but be based on Death Race 2000. The main thing for the game is that you could immerse yourself in it as one of the drivers in the Death Race… the old arcade game and Atari 2600 hack are way too simplistic to do anything like that.

  • Herbman420

    July 13, 2015 at 2:50 am

Its so weird seeing james play such a modern game. Ps2 has such a great library of games. I hope to see more ps2 games on the show. Good shit guys, as always.

  • July 13, 2015 at 4:40 am

I love that game, i still play this game on my psp!

  • Kent Gissing

    July 13, 2015 at 6:39 am

Still have this one for the original XBOX! The only game to this day that has made my sister literally break down on the floor laughing hysterically from playing 😀 And the music is so awesome! TIP: you WANT to stay on the wrong side of the road as much as you can, because passing by oncoming traffic basically gives you an endless burn-meter. ^^

  • CaptainSuperKing

    July 13, 2015 at 8:00 am

Wow what a coincidence that I’ve been replaying this lately trying to beat it 100%, and even further than I have that exact same Led Zeppelin shirt!

  • Briany

    July 13, 2015 at 8:09 am

“If it looks better than what you can see, then how the hell do you see it?”!

That, right there, underlines the absurdity of the race towards better and better resolutions.

  • AbsoluteDeicide

    July 13, 2015 at 8:20 am

Definitely one of the best racing games ever made. Stuntman: Ignition is up there, too, as far as arcade racers go.

  • July 13, 2015 at 8:44 am

“-BURN MOTHERFUCKER BURN!” – James Rolfe as AVGN

  • July 13, 2015 at 10:03 am

I also highly recommend Need for Speed most wanted U for Wii U, it is kind of rare but was also made by Criterion Games who did the Burnout franchise.

  • Weldin Dunn

    July 13, 2015 at 10:44 am

This is the third time Mike and I have the same shirt. Stop stealing my clothes you motherfucker!

  • Jeff Parson

    July 13, 2015 at 11:23 am

This is one of the best racing games Ive ever owned!

  • July 13, 2015 at 11:44 am

The thing about graphics when you’re a long time gamer like me is witnessing the gradual evolution of graphics. It makes what you see today less impressive to me. Now if I could time travel back to 1987 and show my younger self today’s graphics. I would probably go into shock and ot only because of how amazing the graphics look, but because time travel is real and I’m looking and talking to my older self.

    • ToadRoad

      July 13, 2015 at 6:28 pm

I agree to an extent. However when N64/Ps1 came along I remember that being a distinct change in graphics because they were three dimensional. Since then I haven’t been wowed too much, since it’s just gradually making those objects more photorealistic. However, sometimes I’ll pick up a game and be blown away by how water/fire/a landscape looks.

I fucking love James Rolfe. These videos are awesome

  • DenOndeBoss

    July 13, 2015 at 3:54 pm

You should try out Burnout: Revenge! It’s even more insane 😉
Also you should play it in multiplayer and try to wreck each other, that’s much more fun 🙂

    • July 13, 2015 at 6:01 pm

I played Revenge a few weeks ago on the 360. But in my opinion it gets boring very fast.
And i missed the comments from Takedown.

  • itscmillertime

    July 13, 2015 at 5:47 pm

I love. This game! I roommate and I used to play this all the time. I have come so close to beating it 100%

  • July 13, 2015 at 5:56 pm

I loved this game. It’s by far the best part of the series, before Criterion was selled to EA.
We played it nearly every evening with around 10 guys, sometimes friends of friends of friends, on my XBox. What a cool time this was…

  • ToadRoad

    July 13, 2015 at 6:32 pm

I’m surprised they spent so little time on the crash mode. It’s a game mode shown at the beginning where you try to cause as much destruction as possible to earn money. It’s even more fun than racing.

  • July 13, 2015 at 6:37 pm

hey james! hey mike! if you like crashes you should try out PAIN on PS3 😉

  • itscmillertime

    July 13, 2015 at 7:02 pm

You guys totally ignored the fact that the crash mode is the best part of the game! Unlocking dump trucks and driving them into busy intersections to cause maximum carnage. I want a part 2 of all crashes! 100x better than the racing!

  • Andrew DiGiovanni

    July 14, 2015 at 10:01 am

I don’t know if this is the right place for recommended games, but I think you guys should try Bayonetta 2 on Wii U.

  • restfulcargo

    July 14, 2015 at 10:21 am

@3:53 – In this game you are supposed to drive in the wrong side of the road (fills up your boost meter).

  • deniii

    July 14, 2015 at 3:52 pm

I always thought Burnout was mediocre at best. Now for a real awesome racing/crash game, you have to play Flatout 2.

  • handsome pete

    July 15, 2015 at 1:24 am

Not really a good game for a video. It doesn’t have enough things for fans of race cars, but not enough wackiness either. Burnout Paradise would have been way better, that game is nuts. Excite Truck is another game kind of like this but with much crazier things happening, you’re a dusty pickup truck ramping like 100 feet in the air and doing tricks, you flip cars by triggering mountains to spring up out of the ground, things like that.

    • disrupture

      July 16, 2015 at 11:21 am

    • Dan021

      July 16, 2015 at 3:22 pm

I’ll divide the comment into shorter section here then : They are poeple who enjoy J&MM and some who want almost exclusive AVGN stuff. I understand the position on both sides but I don’t think asking for more videos from James is right. People saying it’s his job so he has to give us what we want. Well no, because no matter how much you offered in the past, these videos are a way of expressing passion for film making. After so many videos (I can share the pain here) you want to do something else.

      • Dan021

        July 16, 2015 at 3:22 pm

I think Board James are just as good as AVGN videos. Sure, the nerd has some special space in our hearts but posting about it on every video will get you nothing in return. James is James, he will do what he wants to do. You will choose to watch or not.

      • Dan021

        July 16, 2015 at 3:24 pm

I love the AVGN, Board James and MonsterMadness. I still enjoy J&MM and YouKnowWhat’s Bullshit but not as much and IT’S FINE. But if you want to help them make better content, make suggestions and offer some support.
        Have a good week-end everyone!

  • July 17, 2015 at 12:40 pm

Burnout 3: Takedown is just the best game there is! I remember playing this with Xbox360. It even came with Achievements that you could collect by doing different kinds of takedowns. It was fun!
PS. Speaking of games where you can drive through pedestrians.. Does anyone here remember Carmageddon?

  • July 17, 2015 at 11:27 pm

Holy crap why didn’t i think of this before, you guys NEED to get a copy of Getsu Fūma Den, I have no idea where you guys can get a copy tho, but it’s the game konami made directly after castlevania, and its a really awesome sidescrolling platformer
