This game sucks, don’t play it.”
Perhaps, it’s just you” (I’ve never played it, btw.)
90% rating with over 4000 reviews.

2000 to 3000 people constantly playing this game at any random time of day:

You guys should try the mixed nuts sorting simulator next.

  • July 7, 2015 at 6:03 am

The sad truth of the matter is that these games are popular because youtubers think they can make money playing them, and they do.

funny! who buy these games? funny vid Mike & Ryan!

      July 7, 2015 at 9:20 am

Harvest moon was a good example, but it isn’t a simulator though.
I guess owning and caring for a farm is still kind of a fantasy fo some. Probably not you mike since you live nextdoor to one xP

I guess any job simulator can be interesting, but maybe not as a mean of fun. Maybe it’s calling them ‘games’ which is an error.

Was just doing research on this game. Coincidence? I don’t think so! It’s a sign, guys. A sign that I’ll meet you guys one day!

This is odd!! I live in the town on the sign in Euro Truck Simulator 2, Växjö. It’s a small town in Sweden. Is this an elaberate joke on me? A person they didn’t even know existed.

  • July 7, 2015 at 8:03 am

    1:55 – Växjö, that’s here in Sweden 😀

The actual purpose of these games is listening to podcasts while you play them. While farming simulator does suck, Euro truck 2 is actually pretty good for that. All the cities are modeled after real life and it has a lot of neat details that help spruce the atmosphere up. With a podcast on, it’s pretty enjoyable to play (or so I heard).

I certainly understand why this game is not for everyone, but I do know someone who does like it. Some of the things he likes about it is how there are many different things you can do in the game to make more money, from growing crops, to logging, to selling your materials for bio fuel and you can do whatever you feel like. Also yes I definitely agree some of the graphics don’t look very good, but they did do a good job with the tractors and such. if you look at them close up on high graphics settings, they are actually quite detailed and nice looking. That’s another thing he likes about the game. He likes seeing all the moving parts and he finds it satisfying when he saves up enough money to buy a bigger, better machine. So yeah, definitely not a game for everyone but I can see how some people might like it.

What a bad game, but a great shooting location, and a nice picture in the field. Great video!

  • Weldin Dunn

    July 7, 2015 at 12:19 pm

I looked it up, and there is a blowjob simulator. It’s called Super Deepthroat. Also, when I played this game, all I did was run tractors off of cliffs. THAT was fun.

  • July 7, 2015 at 12:39 pm

(green face): Where did you learn to farm?

  • July 7, 2015 at 12:44 pm

Just because somebody likes simulation games doesn’t mean they lack imagination.. this whole video came off as douchey.

    • July 7, 2015 at 3:42 pm

Anyone remember when you could dislike something popular without someone calling you a douchebag for daring to disagree with the majority about something?

    • July 7, 2015 at 9:15 pm

It must come off that way because of your complete lack of imagination…

  • mike king

    July 7, 2015 at 2:09 pm

i like, you guys tried to change your setting in this vid for the theme of the game but i cant deal with the wind blowing over the mic non stop

  • July 7, 2015 at 3:13 pm

These “games” ain’t games. They are simulators. They are made for people, who want to learn how to do things like farming, so they have no need to buy tractors or any other tools. They are suppose to be for warming up.

    • Kane_Magus

      July 7, 2015 at 6:24 pm

Speaking as someone who lives on an actual real-life farm, I can tell you with 100% assurance that you will not learn farming by playingrunning these gamessimulators. Trust me.

  • Jason Adkins

    July 7, 2015 at 5:17 pm

I’m sure on a real farm people have in fact ran over many cows.

  • JayRam

    July 7, 2015 at 5:35 pm

Speaking of cornfields, why hasn’t James made a horror movie in one?

Also, where are you guys at, exactly? The location was so random, and yet fitting.

  • Wayne

    July 7, 2015 at 6:48 pm

The only way I see this game being useful is to provide kids with a safe, interactive demonstration of the various tasks farmers do. They could probably have a whole series of games similar to this for just about every job out there… kind of like a career counselor… then if the simulation career seemed appealing enough, the person could actually look more into what that career was about and the training/education required.

    • July 8, 2015 at 8:20 am

And sometimes the “simulation” is more optimistic than real life. They look it up, pass all the “theory exams”, and fail at the real practical deal.

      • Wayne

        July 8, 2015 at 12:47 pm

I agree with you. The only way to know if a career is right for someone is for them to have actual experience in it.

  • Satnav

    July 7, 2015 at 8:13 pm

Actually the distances in EuroTruck are compressed, it doesn’t really take twelve hours. 😉 But no doubt someone has modded it already to allow that…

  • itscmillertime

    July 7, 2015 at 8:16 pm

You are comparing the graphics on an indie game to GTA V which had the highest budget of any game ever… Ok

    • July 7, 2015 at 9:37 pm

Probably not a fair analysis in that respect. But I guess the point was, why would anyone play this when you could play GTA (or a million other better games).

      • itscmillertime

        July 7, 2015 at 10:35 pm

        Fair enough. Thanks for responding!

I am now fascinated by this game……I would love to see the career mode haha. Must be epic!

I think this Mike and Ryan weekly series is great!

  • DerManiac

    July 8, 2015 at 3:25 am

Ryan, you are misinformed about Euro Truck Simulator. Trips that take you 12 hours in real life don’t take 12 hours in the game. They only take about 20 minutes. They didn’t literally map all of Europe.. So it’s also “fake” as you call it.

  • DerManiac

    July 8, 2015 at 3:33 am

A little background information for you, because both of you seem to not understand the genre. There basically exist two types of simulator games nowadays: Actual simulators and “pewdie-bait”. The actual simulators (farming simulator, flight simulator, train simulator) are meant to appeal to people who have a passion for a paticular hobby but don’t get to do it in real life, or for people who just want to try out something they dont get to do. Not everybody owns a huge farm, so not everbody gets to know what farming is like. So they like to try it out, and some find it to be a soothing hobby. It’s like model trains or painting figurines.

As for the fake simulators (grass simulator, goat simulator, etc) they are what’s called “pewdie-bait”. They only exist because they know that suckers like you or pewdie-pie will make a video about them and thus act as free promotion. This sparks people’s curiosity and then they buy it just because they feel they have to know what it is about. They are not meant as games, they are meant as bait for online personalities like you are. At least you only mentioned them on the side, so I guess you didn’t entirely fall for it 🙂

Aperture Inovative (Crop Circle) Farming! 😀

  • ToadRoad

    July 8, 2015 at 2:31 pm

I think the big issue is viewing it with the idea that it is a game. Sure it’s interactive, but so is entering a captcha.

  • SoTH

    July 8, 2015 at 2:58 pm

Gamers have been saying this for years, but games aren’t merely about make believe or fantasy, and so the prospect of games requiring fantasy doesn’t grasp the point of gaming.

I don’t think “oh, I get to pretend to a mobster or a space man! Wee!” because its a little childish, but I do like partaking in all the events, activities, goals and objectives, with the skill and strategy that go with it.

While not all simulators are all that fun, playing a game like this isn’t any different from playing Sim City and neither are they any different from playing a simple game of cards or dominoes, as its more about the goal at hand being occupied. It’s a pass time for many.

However, I think the genre is indeed quickly being saturated with shovelware titles, but to each their own. Some seem pretty interesting on an adult gamer level.

For future reference, a quick and dirty fix for wind noise in post is to use the “highpass” audio effect and roll the low end (bass) off around 200 hz. Most of the low rumble should magically disappear.

  • July 8, 2015 at 10:53 pm

I actually came across blowjob and rape sims now that I think about it. Weird…

  • geddon

    July 9, 2015 at 3:56 am

That game is bad, but the video is good.

  • July 10, 2015 at 11:16 am

I watched this video expecting the usual quality for a Cinemassacre video but i was very disappointed. The total lack of empathy and understanding from these guys for gamers who enjoy simulators (the serious one like Farming, Trains and ETS2) was mind boggling. And the missing research on the other games was worse (it does not take 12 hours to drive from Berlin to Paris in ETS2; more like 20 minutes; your remark was either a lie or just stupidity). And i’m not going to enter the subject of imagination. Only simple minded buffoons declare other people’s imagination level based on what they play.

I accept your opinions on the game. But your attitudes were very disrespectful. Especially that Ryan guy. I hope James watched this and realized this is not a quality addition to his team. Maybe if he wants to turn the channel into pewdepiemassacre. Otherwise maybe he should keep him behind the camera or out in the cornfield 😉 I hope for better quality or at least more intelligent videos in the future.

Cinemassacre caters for console plebes, what can you expect? Very rarely will they touch or reference anything PC related.

Would like to see these two do real farming shit.

  • Don Skiver

    July 12, 2015 at 11:38 pm

Look guys, there’s no accounting for taste. Just like how there’s 50 million different types of weird kinky ass porn on the internet, there’s a metric fuck-ton of weird ass games to play. Some people really dig this farm simulation shit, and since it’s sold 5 million copies, I’d say the developers are doing pretty damn well for themselves.

I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t try to figure out why some people out there get a hard on when they watch a chick blow her grandpa while shitting into a diaper, and don’t try to figure out why some people out there relax by playing some euro bus game. Different strokes for different folks.

What’s with the sound in this vid? Even with the cameras up close, it was quiet(though audible). Did you guys use a boom mike?

    • greedo

      July 15, 2015 at 8:51 pm

Check that. The problem was on my computer. The in-video volume was on too low. 🙂
