πŸ˜€ Another amazing ‘three-way’ with my favorite guys on the whole internet. Nice to see Doug actually kick ASS at a game.

  • April 27, 2015 at 12:30 am

that one guy is so neurotic, it gives me a headache

    • frostare

      April 27, 2015 at 1:10 am

Which one? That guy with the glasses? =P

    • Powdered Toastman

      April 27, 2015 at 3:28 pm

It reminds me of back in the day, when your hanging with your best friend playing games. Suddenly your mother says _____ is coming over. ______ is your annoying cousin or neighbor that never shuts up,seems like all he eats is sugar, and is only good at one video game and hes totally bringing that one video game.

      • April 27, 2015 at 5:55 pm

Yep you nailed it! Sucks the fun out of the room with his boasting/whining

      • kory mclaughlin

        April 28, 2015 at 12:26 pm

Toastman, that is completely accurate. Well done.

  • April 27, 2015 at 12:53 am

Levar Burton did the voice of Kwame in Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

  • April 27, 2015 at 1:00 am

Please do Super Double Dragon for J&MM!

  • Thifurious

    April 27, 2015 at 1:09 am

Anybody else kick ass at retro games, until a puzzle game comes along? That’s what happens with me; I play a puzzle game and get destroyed – like a grandma playing Contra.

  • frostare

    April 27, 2015 at 1:11 am

You should play Asmik-kun land, weird game.

  • AllMightyMasterBaiter

    April 27, 2015 at 1:12 am

    12th!! i love you Doug!!

  • str8spaceball1

    April 27, 2015 at 1:22 am

Doug again? i’m 3 minutes into the video and he keeps talking over James already, jesus christ. I really hope this is his last appearance. Love ya James and Mike, good video despite him :).

    • April 27, 2015 at 2:36 am

I guess they did several video’s while Doug was there. At least he’s not in his Nostalgia Critic persona, be grateful for that. As himself, he’s okay-ish. I’m just not really into the threeway thing. Forcing two player games into three player ones isn’t adding anything positive. I did love how Mike keeps mentioning “Mode B” when James and Doug don’t even seem to notice. Splitting James and Mike up like that seems to be killing the magic a bit. It’s like when you’re going out with one extra guy tagging along, that friend that isn’t as close as you and your best friend.
The vibe is different, not necessarily worse, but in conversation the one-two-rally gets interrupted.
Bottom line really, guests are cool to see once in a while, but don’t overdo it.

      • palj

        April 27, 2015 at 11:50 am

I don’t mind guests, but they need to understand their place in the show. Take a backseat, let the people ask you questions, always remember it’s not your show.

    • April 27, 2015 at 12:47 pm

Listening to Doug’s voice is like hearing nails on a chalk board and has completely ruined my past few Mondays. It sounds like he’s always on the verge of crying or something, like a five year who’s mad because someone else in the room talking besides him. I honestly don’t doubt why this is why Mike isn’t even bothering appearing in the same room as him. “I know, let’s see how well I play in a room alone…” That would be my exit plan as well, haha.

    • April 27, 2015 at 1:03 pm

Man i know i dont know the guy or who he really is im sure hes nice in person….but as soon as he came on screen i turned it off, im sorry just handle him talking over mike or james like he is the star of the show ……oh well….keep up the good work i guess? Mike and James rock nuff said

  • Devan Shell

    April 27, 2015 at 1:24 am

Can you please fuck off with that other dude already? It was fun for one episode, now go back to just James and Mike.

    • Kevin McCreesh

      April 27, 2015 at 12:43 pm

Agreed. It hurts to watch him.

    • Kane_Magus

      April 27, 2015 at 10:22 pm

Although it’s not really feasible, I really wish James and Mike could schedule extra weeks with Doug for every comment like this, just to piss you guys off.

My niece and I have played Yoshi and Yoshi’s Cookie quite a bit on Wii. She begged me download both off of Wii Shop. I Love getting my asskicked by a kid! Not!! She is so good at these Yoshi games. While I suck monkey balls at them!! I Hate Yoshi the little green bastard!!

  • April 27, 2015 at 2:01 am

This Doug guy is the kind of nerd that even other nerds avoid.

  • thechrostopher3

    April 27, 2015 at 2:04 am

Why would James & Mike purposefully ruin another James & Mike Monday by having Doug on? It’s like they don’t know that he sucks.

  • April 27, 2015 at 2:16 am

Friggin Candyman is gonna get ya, Yoshi-style!

  • April 27, 2015 at 2:39 am

Please, please stop making videos with Doug in them. He’s too much of a spaz, an is honestly annoying/not funny or entertaining and is ruining j&m mondays

  • Phoenix7786

    April 27, 2015 at 2:40 am

Great puzzle games on the NES and you forget to mention Kickle Cubicle? Blasphemy I say! Blasphemy!

  • Rennie Page

    April 27, 2015 at 2:44 am

YES!!! Bad ass job Doug! Btw to all the douchebags hating on Doug, he’s awesome. You guys are great. Keep the 3 musketeer trio videos coming! Mike, step your game up! Love this game.

    • April 27, 2015 at 3:10 am

Not awesome in any positive sense of the word.

    • palj

      April 27, 2015 at 11:52 am

You’re not hating if you point out something you don’t like. In the same way people aren’t ‘douchebags’ just because they disagree with you.

      • Rennie Page

        April 28, 2015 at 1:01 am

Your opinions don’t mean much tho if you think about it. They are friends with Doug, so they will have him on the show When they feel like it. Doug is a great addition. End of story.

      • palj

        April 28, 2015 at 2:19 pm

“end of story”? You have 90% of people on here stating he’s not good, and 10% saying he is. If you really think that a show/programme will continue feature someone that isn’t winning overt the public then you’re a moron.

It’s a comment section, if you have to bring up that people opinions don’t mean much then maybe the internet isn’t for you.

    • anticlimatic

      April 28, 2015 at 6:27 am

I’m glad the poor guy has a fan or two. From where I sit in consumer-land I can’t see past the dying cat persona, but I have a feeling (especially if someone as warm as James considers him a friend) that there might be a decent human being under there somewhere.

  • Gimpster

    April 27, 2015 at 2:51 am

Please do more Bootsy or Pat, i’m just not a fan of this nostalgia critic guy. Good job though!

  • Aedan Clarke

    April 27, 2015 at 5:39 am

Man, the people who comment on here are the bitchest pricks I’ve seen outside of the typical YouTube/4chan/reddit/Twitch circuit. Shut the fuck up. Doug is funny. You don’t agree? Then simply don’t watch. Last I checked, it wasn’t your show. Don’t like that you don’t get to watch for a few weeks? Too bad, the world doesn’t revolve around you, you ungrateful shits.

    • Drew Dubois

      April 27, 2015 at 9:31 am

Here’s the thing – James and Doug have decided to put themselves out there as entertainers, therefore making themselves public figures. And when you make yourself a public figure, you have to accept and expect criticism, and the people watching these videos have every right to express their dislike (or appreciation) for what they see.

I cannot stand Doug Walker. I’m not watching this video. And I have every right to say that, because criticism will ultimately help the creator recognize what works and what doesn’t.

    • Kane_Magus

      April 27, 2015 at 10:43 pm

Yeah, a lot of James’s “fans” here are getting almost as bad as Spoony’s “fans.”

      • greedo

        April 29, 2015 at 7:43 pm

Believe it or not, Kane, it used to be MUCH worse. I used to lurk in this forum years ago, when James merged the Cinemassacre forums with the AVGN site. It… was a mess, to put it mildly. A lot of AVGN fans were clamoring for more vids, and the regular Cinemassacre fans were shouting them down for being entitled brats. (At least, that’s how they thought the AVGN fans were).

Eventually, that all settled down, but it was not a pretty sight, at all. And believe me, you didn’t want to be here back then.

Having said all of this, I wish that the fans here would realize that this website is not a life/death thing. We all are fans, and we all have different perspectives. If we all tried to respect each other a little more, this would be a better place. Just my .02.

  • Treise

    April 27, 2015 at 5:44 am

Yes! I agree Doug, loved the hell out of this puzzle game~

  • April 27, 2015 at 5:55 am

I remember my childhood friend lending me this game for SNES in the late 90’s. That story feature was good πŸ™‚

  • April 27, 2015 at 6:01 am

Can’t wait for the 100th episode next Monday I’m so excited.

  • Drew Dubois

    April 27, 2015 at 6:46 am

James, I like you a lot and I like J&MM, so please don’t take this the wrong way, but I *will not watch anything with Doug Walker in it or anything associated with Channel Awesome*.

Horrible reviewers, run by a moron of a CEO, blatantly lying to people about why they needed the money for their IndieGogo, leaders who treat their reviewers like crap, and a guy who is only doing his character to pay the bills rather than for the love of the character is not something I can support.

Channel Awesome is horrible, and the sooner they disappear from the ‘net the better.

    • Pumphrey

      April 30, 2015 at 8:00 pm

And James and Mike are “good” reviewers???
I like to watch them same as I like to watch any fool muddle with something they know nothing about, it’ll make you laugh for 5 minutes or so.
But when it comes to horrible reviews J&M are KINGS. They don’t read any instructions, they don’t know what a game is ab out, and then when it locks-up on them they honestly think THAT is the end of the game!!!
THAT is not good “reviewing”, but it IS humor!!!

  • adder_doner2

    April 27, 2015 at 10:18 am

Couldn’t finish the video. Could this guy stop talking over everyone? Hope the old format is back next week, sorry, but this guy is insufferable.

    • Pumphrey

      April 30, 2015 at 8:03 pm

Oh yeah, heaven forbid someone who knows something about the game being played be allowed to talk, like when J&M played with Pat The NES Punk…
Playing a game with someone who knows something ABOUT the game means it might actually be revealed how all these “impossibley hard and Br0ken gamez” are just normal games being played by people who know shit-all about WHAT they are playing.

  • Joker83

    April 27, 2015 at 10:23 am

For whatever reason I wasn’t familiar with this game, so I was figuring out how its played as I watched the video.

  • Labyrinth2_0

    April 27, 2015 at 10:45 am

Please! No more Doug in the videos, he isn’t funny anymore due to changes of the Nostalgia critic. It’s starting to show signs in laziness if these kind of videos keep going on.

Either do this or change the name to James, Mike, and Doug Mondays.

  • April 27, 2015 at 11:02 am

Doug is so hyper-actively annoying, like hes always WAY to happy to be included

  • palj

    April 27, 2015 at 11:48 am

Can understand some of the complaints against Doug. He is very … overbearing at times, and his humour is passive-aggressive at best (shouting, talking over people). The dynamic doesn’t really work with him in these videos, because it feels like he’s always ‘on’, always turned up to 11 and begging for the attention. Some people find that funny, some don’t. Personally, I haven’t been able to finish a video with him in it, and that’s partly because I liked the relaxed feel of the videos and got use to two friends just playing games together. I don’t watch these videos to see some neurotic guy struggle to fit in social situations.

If these shows were made for TV, I’mm 100% sure the director would have asked him to tone it down by now.

    • greedo

      April 29, 2015 at 7:47 pm

I can understand where they’re coming from, too. Doug is pretty amped up. I think that’s just his natural personality, though. He’s a pretty intense guy, and not everyone can handle that kind of intensity. Not much of a Doug fan, but I do appreciate the intensity and passion he brings to his vids.

  • Jeff Parson

    April 27, 2015 at 12:23 pm

I have a request James and mike should play Rygar 1987!

  • April 27, 2015 at 12:24 pm

Ugh, I really hope the Doug episodes are only a trilogy. I used to look forward to this show but now, I’m probably gonna skip any future episodes with him on it.

  • Kevin McCreesh

    April 27, 2015 at 12:39 pm

Great review, but I CANNOT watch Doug anymore. Sorry J&M. I tried with the last couple of video reviews, I just get a headache from the guy.

    This fucking guy again?

    April 27, 2015 at 1:50 pm

The video and isn’t working right again!

  • Wayne

    April 27, 2015 at 1:57 pm

Wario’s Woods is also a great puzzle game for the NES.

  • horrorshow

    April 27, 2015 at 2:20 pm

why are so many commenting on here like they don’t know who Doug is…are they stuck in a Cinemassacre bubble? Dougs one of the funniest and well known internet reviewers. Admittedly he’s a little geekier out of character and can come across as a little obnoxious but he’s actually a really nice guy!

    • palj

      April 27, 2015 at 3:01 pm

Ask 100 people on the street who Doug is and see how many people know.

    • April 27, 2015 at 3:32 pm

I’ve been a fan of Cinemassacre for a decade now and never heard of Doug till he started appearing in their videos. James & Mike have a very relaxed and dry sense of humor in their videos together and Doug is the polar opposite. You can still be “nice” but completely irritating to most people at the same time. Hell, Weird Al made an entire career out of it. Doug’s personality just doesn’t work for me. As for being stuck in a bubble, I also enjoy reviews from Red Letter Media and Lord Karnage from Classic Game Room. Those are two other fine examples of dry humor as well that isn’t grating to listen to.

      • greedo

        April 29, 2015 at 7:49 pm

I agree with most of what you say, but honestly, I think Mike is intense too, in his own way. It used to show up more in some of the early AVGN vids, but he’s mellowed out a bit in the past 2-3 years.

  • April 27, 2015 at 2:50 pm

I’m really getting the feeling mike and NC don’t care for each other.

I would like to see you review ‘The Untouchables’ and ‘Dirty Harry’ both for NES.

  • Powdered Toastman

    April 27, 2015 at 3:11 pm

Well if anything,Doug got me to make an account on cinemassacre just so I could comment about how amazingly irritating he is in these videos.

    • April 28, 2015 at 12:25 am

agreed stick to review movies wheres hes slightly less irritating

  • Dan021

    April 27, 2015 at 3:48 pm

Really fun to see all you guys at once. Big fan! Tetris Attack (Which has nothing to do with tetris but has all the cool character from Yoshi’s Island) and Wario’s Wood are so much better! Still a very good game and fun video to watch thanks!

    • Topdek

      April 29, 2015 at 12:04 am

Tetris Attack is the best puzzle game ever. In Tetris Attack, a battle between two good players can go on for nearly an hour, with lengthy combo strings yielding massive blocks dumped on the opponent, until the opponent destroys those blocks and uses them to retaliate with a massive combo string of their own, and so on until the match is over or the SNES blows up from processor overload.

I contend that Tetris Attack may be among the best two player games ever made.

  • Evil Rabbit

    April 27, 2015 at 5:57 pm

James and Mike should summon a Meeseeks to beat Doug at Yoshi.

Pretty funny video. Holy crap Dough is greally good at that game! πŸ˜€

    April 27, 2015 at 11:14 pm

Doug is the absolute worst. I have watched nearly every video that has been posted for the past 3 years but I absolutely LOATHE Doug and drunk Jontron, just shave your head already Doug the fight is over man.

  • ikensee

    April 27, 2015 at 11:40 pm

Haha, sorry, this Doug NC guy gets under my skin. I remember trying to watch his videos on YouTube a long time ago and I couldn’t take it. Just that fake broadcaster voice all the time. But at least he’s having fun, just not my kind of tea. I think Mike was getting annoyed so that’s why he threw in the jab at the end saying he didn’t say Yoshi just to screw with him and get him mad haha. Please let this be the last one with Doug for a while…at least three years. I don’t mind threesomes. Bootsy is awesome with James and Mike.

  • Jeffytomato

    April 27, 2015 at 11:46 pm

Please tell me this is the last J&MM with Doug Walker in it…he’s really starting to get on my nerves lol

The girl robot from Small Wonder
The ladder that Sam uses in Clarissa Explains It All
The train tracks from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood
The transmogrifier from Calvin and Hobbes

If you boys rub off on the nostalgia critic, fine, just please god don’t let him rub off on you. Unless you were dropped on your head a few times as a child, no one wants to hear hyper-critical analysis with airs of condescension. It’s like the living breathing embodiment of Mike’s neyrd impression.

  • Kent Gissing

    April 28, 2015 at 2:10 pm

Actually, Levar Burton did the voice of Kwame on Captain Planet. A true Captain Planet-fanboy would know that. πŸ˜› ^^ … btw, it looks like James would win if it was all about tallying the score ^^ thought someone would mention that.

  • April 28, 2015 at 10:36 pm

James, get rid of Doug. I’ve gotten where I cannot sit through an episode with this guy attempting comedy…

    • Pumphrey

      April 30, 2015 at 8:08 pm

At least Doug isn’t as sycophantic. Annoying? maybe, but he has a mind of his own at least.

  • King L.

    May 1, 2015 at 7:09 am

WHAT ARE YOU F*CKING TALKING ABOUT? DOUG SUCKS? This is a Monday small play and I don’t mind if a guest comes along… And since Doug is a master of this game, this is more enjoyable than Probotector & TMNT 3 videos where he didn’t play much. Why should you keep booing against Doug?! ………..AND when is a new AVGN going to come out? πŸ™‚

  • Deathbringer

    May 9, 2015 at 9:23 am

Hey Mike… Doug said “Yoshi!” plenty of times when he won. I don’t know what defensive crack you were smoking at the end of the gaming session when you claimed he didn’t say Yoshi at all.

    • Deathbringer

      May 9, 2015 at 9:36 am

He missed one Yoshi at the end, the very last one. That was it. Guessed perception is kinda funny like that, isn’t it Mike?

  • May 11, 2015 at 1:52 am

Another AVGN J&MM I can’t watch all the way through because turning the sound off defeats the purposes. πŸ™

  • May 23, 2015 at 7:41 pm

Ugh, I hate to say it but – can you stop inviting that guy?

  • Hank Foreman

    June 8, 2015 at 9:31 pm

I’m indifferent on Doug. On one hand, he is funny (for the most part), has a good presence, shares interesting Facebook posts, and is a good film critic in his own right. On the other hand, Doug isn’t as funny as he once was (especially after Demo Reel, though some of the NC reviews in the current run are entertaining), and my trust in him has kinda dwindled, especially after last January (out of respect to both him, his colleagues, and ex-colleagues, I will not discuss the events surrounding that period). But that’s just my two cents on Doug.
