    LONG LIVE JASON!!!!!!!

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:00 am

    Great run. Thanks!

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:10 am

Out of space themes…they didn´t work for Hellraiser nor Friday the 13th. :/

    • Larry Hood

      March 13, 2015 at 6:35 am

The worst of them was Leprechaun

    • March 13, 2015 at 7:46 am

      Hellraiser went to space?

      • March 13, 2015 at 3:38 pm

Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996). Part sequel, part prequel, part origin story, all finale.

    • March 13, 2015 at 7:10 pm

Nightmare on Elm street in space.

      • March 13, 2015 at 8:53 pm

“In space no one can hear you dream”

        All yours, New Line.

    • March 13, 2015 at 11:03 pm

Hey man, Bloodlines is actually good. Also, it had Adam Scott in it and that’s awesome.

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:20 am

Awesome finale to the series. Btw, I stumbled upon this imdb page for another Part X. Have no idea what it is and I never heard of it. Has anyone seen this?

Its a fan film from 1995 lol i just did some investigating and you can watch it here on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rb-q8RR5SDk

      • March 13, 2015 at 4:45 am

lol thanks. That looks absolutely terrible. James should review it sometime.

      • March 13, 2015 at 5:07 am

i looked it up too and im totally going to watch it right now lol

        March 13, 2015 at 7:44 am

Thanks for posting this. I respect people that make their own films. I have high ambitions of writing and directing films, but I don’t want to bother anyone or waste their time.

Cool kills in this one. But sending Jason to space? hahaha. I remember when they started to talk about this one and i was young and hyped. And it failed like Jason goes to hell. hehe =( good job Cinemassacre for these great reviews!

  • Kevin McLaughlin

    March 13, 2015 at 5:22 am

After space, where else can they go?

Your Godzilla comparison got me thinking, why not have someone do a science experiment on Jason that turns him into a giant monster. Then we can have Godzilla Vs Jason.

    • Zces

      March 13, 2015 at 9:27 am

Godzilla vs MeckaJason in real lowbudget could be hilarious. Idea to a AVGN The Movie sequel. haha

      March 13, 2015 at 5:59 pm

It was established in the Toho Frankenstein series that the original Frankenstein had the ability to regenerate from the cells of his original heart, which was being experimented on by the WWII Japanese, until the Hiroshima bombing caused it to mutate, and it created a new gigantic Frankenstein which fought Baragon, and was originally also planned to fight King Kong. And in Jason Goes To Hell, they establish that Jason’s heart is being experimented on, and we learn that he can be reborn from it, plus in Jason X we learn that he can mutate into a more powerful form. So maybe someone else had your idea, and was also inspired by Toho Frankenstein?

    March 13, 2015 at 5:25 am

    “Uh oh, somebody’s getting laid!”
That part cracked me up James. I never thought of it like that, Jason being an anti-sex detecting killing machine, lol.

There was that rumor once of Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, if only

They went and did that, but in comic form.

    March 13, 2015 at 6:35 am

Every time I see this movie I just want to call it “Jason in Spaaaace!!” (like the old muppets “pigs in space”)

Such a silly and ridiculous movie..but at least it doesn’t take itself too seriously. I mean, how can you? This is the 10th movie and we’ve jumped the shark so hard we ended up IN SPACE!!

  • Xen11

    March 13, 2015 at 7:41 am

I want the sequels to this film, even though I haven’t seen it yet. I know enough about it to love it and it was supposed to be the f i rst in the trilogy. I tried to go to the theater to see this but I didn’t have a car and had to rely on other people. The one time I attempted I think the theater was out of order or the time didn’t match the times announced on the phone line.

I’ve been putting off watching it so that I can see it for an initial time at the end of a series marathon. Jason X is that mystery in a box that I haven’t opened because I’m afraid that the film won’t come close to my imaginative expectations for it. Everything I know of it, I’m just thinking, ‘How can anyone hate it?’

Oh and something should be done about not being able to use the word: F I R S T in these posts. There’s been MANY times I’ve posted something deep and lengthy on cinemassacre only to have it deleted because that word was used.

  • March 13, 2015 at 7:47 am

Pinhead was suppose to be in Freddy vs Jason at the end.. would have been kind of cool if he had

  • March 13, 2015 at 7:56 am

Hope to see a Nightmare on Elmstreet marathon ;D

    • newwavejunkie

      March 13, 2015 at 9:23 am

James did all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies during Monster Madness in 2011. Check em out 🙂

  • March 13, 2015 at 8:11 am

You know what I think? At the moment all these slasher movie franchises (Friday 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Child’s Play, Maniac Cop, Scream, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hellraiser, Pumpkinhead, Candyman etc etc) are sitting gathering dust because the companies can’t really do anything with them, More sequels wouldn’t work and everyone hates remakes. So one company should swoop in an buy ALL of these franchises for obscene amounts of money and make some kind perverted slasher movie version of the MCU.
I think we can all agree that would be awesome.

  • Ron

    March 13, 2015 at 9:17 am

It would be nice if we see Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (Evil Dead): The Movie

    • Smokingspoon

      March 13, 2015 at 3:48 pm

That’s so silly that it’s kinda cool! xD

      • Smokingspoon

        March 13, 2015 at 3:52 pm

Although, I heard Predator or Terminator were considered, that would’ve been awesome too.

  • March 13, 2015 at 9:29 am

Corey Feldman and Kane Hodder in Friday the 13th Part 13 would be ideal, wouldn’t it?

  • sev666

    March 13, 2015 at 10:46 am

By far the worst entry of the franchise.

If it were a better film or tried at all. It might’ve worked, but they didn’t. It was boring, the kills looked awful and it just wasn’t overly entertaining.

All the Paramount Fridays were at least watchable and entertaining, but the New Line films are just bleh. Different sure, but different doesn’t always mean good.

I actually loved this movie. One of my favourites.

    March 13, 2015 at 11:09 am

Another great movie series review James, I think what makes your reviews far more interesting than most people you watch on youtube for example, is that you do it off-screen whereas most youtubers (big and small) do it on camera and it gets redundant for the format, it works way better for game reviews with a character like yours. Anyway, great stuff as always! Hope to see more movie reviews and other stuff soon again, your website is like it’s on Tv-Channel, it’s very reminiscent of a good old channel with nostalgia.

Finally, every Friday the 13th. Movie has been reviewed by the genius behind Monster Madness. Thanks for the treat James, and happy Friday the 13th.

    March 13, 2015 at 11:24 am

sigh…i wish had made sequel to Jason vs Freddy 🙂 who watched to end know what i mean.

Who olso must act like prequel to Jason X

  • March 13, 2015 at 12:48 pm

I remember not liking Jason X when I saw it in college. The design was kickass, but the movie wasn’t.

And in a bit of interesting news today, WB Games announced Jason will be in the upcoming Mortal Kombat X.

  • March 13, 2015 at 12:59 pm

I absolutely love these reviews, so refreshing that you don’t slaughter them totally. Slaughter.. eh?
Anyhow, I always loved Jason X, it is as you say, a lot of fun. Some of the best, and best looking kills in the franchise. The whole thing with the android-woman could have been left out, but hey, nothing is perfect. Happy Friday the 13th!

  • March 13, 2015 at 1:02 pm

NetherRealm Studios just confirmed today that Jason Voorhees will be available in Mortal Kombat X!!!

  • March 13, 2015 at 3:40 pm

    Grande comentários.

  • March 13, 2015 at 3:42 pm

Fun fact: Jason X sat, mostly completed, on a shelf for several years before anyone had the desire to distribute it. I remember watching rough cuts of certain scenes years before its release when I had a family member working at ILM. I’m kinda glad it finally saw the light of day.

Before Jason X came out, MadTV did a sketch called “Apollo the 13th: Jason Takes NASA”.

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:15 pm

There’s a tribute to the AVGN in this Jason fanfilm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBj-BEf1eTk

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:42 pm

Hey studios! YooHoo! You listening! You’ve run your slasher films franchises into the ground, heck you’ve run the whole genre in the ground! There is nothing to do them at this point except crossover beat-em-up movies and The one crossover movie that exists (Freddy vs. Jason) made $114,900,000 against a budget of $30,000,000 netting a profit of $84,900,000.
That is OBSCENE money. Enough to split between three companies much less two.

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:44 pm

speaking of jason, HE’S IN FUCKING MORTAL KONBAT NOW! XD

  • March 13, 2015 at 4:50 pm

I still want to punch Rob Zombie in the face for making a crappy reboot of the awesome Halloween. While the fans wanted a sequel to the Halloween Resurrection.

Jason X was my favourite Friday the 13th part.

      March 13, 2015 at 8:24 pm

At last, someone else who loves the film other than me.

  • March 13, 2015 at 5:05 pm

Bravo! Thanks James for yet another Great production. Can’t wait to see your next AVGN instalment!

  • Night-X

    March 13, 2015 at 5:43 pm

I remember watching this in VHS when it came out and I about 13-14 at the time too. Plus one of last VHS format movies watch before start watching DVD format movies.

  • March 13, 2015 at 5:47 pm

Cronenberg was possibly going to direct this sequel but instead did a cameo in it instead.

  • Chris Montgomery

    March 13, 2015 at 9:42 pm

Hey James did you hear? Jason Voorhees will be in the next Mortal kombat game. I wanted to tell you!

  • gluserty

    March 13, 2015 at 10:31 pm

This installment just wasn’t for me, but I really liked this video, especially since it included “(He’s Back) The Man Behind The Mask” (the definitive Jason Voorhees song for me) towards the end.

  • March 14, 2015 at 1:11 am

    i like jason

    March 14, 2015 at 2:07 am

    Thank you

  • Hanglyman

    March 14, 2015 at 1:56 pm

Again, as someone who hasn’t seen the movies: How does Jason go from being a cyborg in the far future to being a guy in a hockey mask again so he can fight Freddy? Or does Freddy vs. Jason take place sometime between the other movies?

  • Iron65

    March 14, 2015 at 2:08 pm

Yeah the comparison between Jason and Godzilla was a really good one, Love it or Hate it, we will have fun with those movies

  • March 14, 2015 at 3:47 pm

This movie was just boring to me

  • EmSeeSquared

    March 15, 2015 at 1:09 am

    March 15, 2015 at 5:37 pm

I love this video James but their is one thing that bothered me. You said that they should make a Jason vs. Micheal Myers movie which a lot of people think but it wouldn’t work and not for the reason you think. You stated it wouldn’t work because 2 different companies which is true but even if they did work it out the real reason is Jason is this immortal being were Micheal is more or less a normal guy. Jason as been blown to bits and didn’t phase him were Micheal can get his head chopped off. What I am saying is it would go like this Micheal and Jason meet Micheal comes at him stabs him in the chest Jason grabs Micheal’s arm rips the knife out of him rips Micheal’s arm off then chops his head off with the machete. Although this could work in fact if they took living Jason you know Jason from 2-4 then it would work better because he would me a normal guy more or less as well.

    • fanboyfilms

      March 16, 2015 at 4:03 pm

Well Michael did get shot through the chest multiple times, had both of his eyes shot out, was burned in a fireball/explosion that charred 90% of his body and left him in a coma for 10 years after which he awoke and started killing again. The guy is pretty much indestructible at this point.

And since he never actually got his head chopped off how do we know what would happen to him?

  • evilromero

    March 15, 2015 at 10:14 pm

I’d argue that Jason X is the most entertaining movie in the series. It just has too many classic self-referential moments. I remember going to see it twice in one day when it hit theaters.

  • March 16, 2015 at 11:22 pm

I fucking love this fucking movie better than all he other firday the 13 and all Jason and freddy vs Jason lololo

  • March 17, 2015 at 2:52 pm

The crap hit the fan with this movie. I loved Alien but hated all the following movies. I loved Hellraiser and even thought Bloodline was ok. This movie was a kind of mix. But worthless as shit.

  • March 19, 2015 at 5:07 am

They need a Terminator movie where Skynet is sitting on its win but has its own “most wanted” list of fugitives, including Jason.

  • lotusclown

    March 19, 2015 at 9:19 pm

hate to see this come to an end but thanks James for yet another great series of reviews from some of the coolest movies of all time.

  • March 21, 2015 at 4:58 am

I remember seeing this film on VHS and it was alright. I’ve been watching the series for years and I also hope that they will have good ideas for the upcoming movies.

  • Ben_from_G-town

    March 22, 2015 at 6:19 am

Jason X was so ridiculous. I agree. It looks so bad it’s good, though. These Friday reviews were good. This was fun.

  • M. Ryan

    April 12, 2015 at 10:31 pm

I found that Jason Takes Manhattan is just as ludicrous as this film.

  • Quetzalcoatl

    April 18, 2015 at 11:58 am

Alright, James. You know what has to happen now…

    The Hellraiser series.

  • April 19, 2015 at 11:24 am

Freddy vs jason was way better than that,i am saying that because you mentioned that x had the highest budget. But it is not the budget in those movies that makes them what they are,it is the simple way they making those that makes them keep on coming.

  • Joshua Bradley

    June 11, 2015 at 3:06 pm

You skipped a lot of funny scenes in this one especially that fuckin’ weird guy getting his nipples twisted by that girl for an A. What the fuck!!!

  • Rusty Vinson

    October 22, 2015 at 1:51 pm

I would like to see Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (Evil Dead). It could be a great dark comedy. Or even just Jason vs Ash would be cool.
