AVGN Movie Blu-ray is here! 10+ Hours of bonus content

James / December 14th, 2014

Get Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie on Blu-ray!
(Distributed by Screenwave Media)

It totals about 10 hours of bonus content, (12 hours including the main feature film), which is insane! That doesn’t even count the audio commentary track, and audience reaction track. It should be noted that half of the bonus content has already been posted online in some form like the trailers, web updates, Q&A’s, etc, now all together at home in one package, but it’s still about 5 hours of DVD/Blu-ray exclusives (9 hours of exclusives if you count the bonus audio tracks).

UPDATE: FOR INTERNATIONAL. At the moment, only the US domestic Amazon has the movie in stock. More stock is being shipped to additional Amazon stores around the world, but is taking longer due to customs. Please stand by. We will let you know when the movie is available in more countries. It is my mission to have it available in as many places as possible. I know I have fans all around the world (especially evident in the beginning of the film itself).

UPDATE: INTERNATIONAL NOW AVAILABLE! Before ordering on the US Amazon page, try searching the movie on your local country’s Amazon site. If it’s not there, then order from the US Amazon link above, and it will ship internationally.

Note: The DVD version is not available yet. We assume most people would want the Blu-ray. DVD will come later.
with Scene Selections and Subtitles (all the same languages currently on Vimeo)

1. Stereo
2. 5.1 Surround
3. Commentary with Sean, Kevin, James
4. Audience reaction track (using the best existing audio from the Egyptian Theater premiere in Hollywood, and New York City)

Just bought my copy! Cant wait

    • ninjabackwards

      December 17, 2014 at 4:28 am

It really wasn’t that bad though. It’s weakest point, in my opening, came from jokes that didn’t really work.

That said, I enjoyed it more than enough. 14 hours or so of extra content/special features is worth the 25 dollar price point if you enjoy any of the previous behind the scene stuff he has done in the past.

    Just bought it. 🙂

Doesn’t ship to Canada. Any way to have this ordered internationally??

    • December 14, 2014 at 1:15 pm

Having the same problem in the UK. Been waiting for this for a long time!

      December 15, 2014 at 12:21 pm

not sure why ur having issues I’m in Ontario and I was able to place an order for it. mine should be shipping today. were ur trying to ship to an address or like a p.o box or something?

      • disrupture

        December 15, 2014 at 2:22 pm

Sometimes they don’t ship in Quebec.

I’m in Quebec and got it.

  • freddyD

    December 14, 2014 at 1:26 pm

C’mon guys. Why can’t we order the movie directly from YOU? I waited all these months, I still haven’t seen the movie, because I wanted to wait for the release. But now it’s just trouble with Amazon and it’s international orders.

I don’t understand it. If there would be a direct ordering option from you, you’d benefit from it more financially as well

    • December 14, 2014 at 1:30 pm

I did the exact same thing man. I’m just not a fan of streaming and I wanted to wait and get excited about getting the physical copy, tearing it open and checking out the movie. I’m sure they’ll sort the issue soon but it is very frustrating.

  • Warrax

    December 14, 2014 at 1:32 pm

Amazon.com doesn’t allow to ship Games/DVD/Bluray internationally, it has to be available in their respective Amazon sites like Amazon.ca or Amazon.co.uk.

Please fix that ASAP! my friend would like to buy a copy but we’re in Canada.

  • December 14, 2014 at 1:46 pm

    No shipping to germany 🙁

  • Forsythia

    December 14, 2014 at 1:59 pm

That’s a big fail if it doesn’t ship internationally. We already missed out on seeing the movie in the theaters, and now I can’t even get a physical copy! 🙁

  • Yanick Brissette

    December 14, 2014 at 2:12 pm

I can’t order it, it says they can’t ship it to my location. I live in Quebec. Is there something I am missing there?

  • Retronomicon

    December 14, 2014 at 2:18 pm

Yes, James. Please, inform us what is going to happen to international shipping of the bluray. Been waiting so long for this.

  • December 14, 2014 at 2:34 pm

And here we were hoping we could order this from your/ScrewAttack’s Merchandise page like all the other episodes. But I’m guessing this couldn’t be done because of the BluRay order. In that case I think a DVD version is needed for that particular place.

Whatever the reason, I’m sure James will let us know… at the end of his 12 days… Which is too late for those who hoped they could order this as a present in time for Christmas.

Maybe an Amazon Bullshit video will be made. :p

  • Shannon Gold

    December 14, 2014 at 2:45 pm

Bought a copy! Yay! 12 days of nerd and the blu Ray dvd! Best Christmas EVER!

    • Anime Freak

      December 14, 2014 at 3:07 pm

Ditto! Now if only we can convince him to avgn the Rocketeer games.

  • December 14, 2014 at 2:47 pm

I hear some people here cant buy it internationally, I’m from Sweden so I hope it can get fixed until the 19th because that’s when I can afford one. I spent 200 on the fund raiser and bought the download too, so you bet I want to be able to order my copy as soon as possible 🙂

  • JayRam

    December 14, 2014 at 2:58 pm

Right on, James! Seeing you follow and achieve your dreams like this is inspiring. Will purchase a copy when I get the chance.

  • Thifurious

    December 14, 2014 at 3:20 pm

    Just bought it. Thanks James!

  • December 14, 2014 at 3:34 pm

VHS version please. I don’t have a Blu-Ray phonograph machine.

  • December 14, 2014 at 3:46 pm

Hopefully the international market is open soon – AVGN has so many fans around the world that this US only thing makes no sense at all. eBay listing or amazon.co.uk ? Amazon.co.uk covers Europe pretty good and should not be a big of a deal to add it there by the distribution company. I was really hoping to order it from ScrewAttackStore…

  • December 14, 2014 at 3:51 pm

Any idea when it might be available on dvd? And will it also have the same bonus content as the blueray?

  • December 14, 2014 at 4:24 pm

As someone who doesn’t have a Blu-ray player, I really hope the DVD version comes out soon, and with all the same content. Anyway, I love bonus features and this all sounds great!

  • Mike Justesen

    December 14, 2014 at 5:05 pm

James, please make it possible for it to ship internationally.

I’ve been dying to see the movie, and owning the physical copy, and this sure is a let-down.

  • December 14, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Wow! Can’t believe you fit FOURTEEN hours of footage on ONE Blu-Ray disc. That baffles me. Only 50 GB of space, yet you fit FOURTEEN hours of footage. You are such a trooper, James… and that’s a good thing!

  • Dylan Sharp

    December 14, 2014 at 6:25 pm

its coming out just in time for christmas!

  • itscmillertime

    December 14, 2014 at 6:57 pm

I would want the blue ray but I cannot play them on my tv 🙁 my tv is 1080i but only takes component cables not hdmi and my PS3 can only play blue ray through hdmi :(. I hope the dad when it comes out has all these features also. Worst case I will buy a bootleg vhs 😉

  • December 14, 2014 at 7:56 pm

Can’t even ship this to Canada? I’ve never seen that for a Blu-ray/DVD before and I bought all my movies from the US Amazon store.(I dislike the bilingual packaging on Canadian blu-rays and the prices are roughly the same, including shipping). I sure this will be remedied in time, so this is not a complaint, just boggles the mind.

  • December 14, 2014 at 9:57 pm

I am planning to buy your movie on GOG.com digitally, but I want to know. does this really supports you in an economic way?

  • December 15, 2014 at 12:23 am

I would like to buy the bluray but I can’t since I can’t order on the Amazon website since Amazon require a credit card to do payment enven thought I can pay with paypal and got the money for it

  • December 15, 2014 at 12:37 am

    Hey James,
thanks for using my fan vid for this (1:12) – makes me happy!
    But no international shipping sucks…!
Just Amazon? What about the Screw Attack store?

  • December 15, 2014 at 6:22 am

can’t to buy a copy and see the movie finally.. i will soon definitely

  • Ben_from_G-town

    December 15, 2014 at 7:23 am

So it’s just the blu-ray? I thought the DVD would be coming out at the same time, or that maybe there’d even be a combo pack. I’m not interested in paying for a download. I want a physical copy. So, I won’t be able to watch the movie until the DVD comes out, because I don’t have anything that plays blu-rays. Any idea on when that will be? Or if it will have all the bonus features as the blu-ray?

    • Joker83

      December 15, 2014 at 8:04 am

Options: 1.download it to watch it now and then buy the DVD when it comes out. (Yeah you spend a little extra cash but it’s worth it)
      2. Get a blu-Ray player, they are fairly cheap now and are even included with playstation 3 and 4s.

      • Joe B.

        December 15, 2014 at 9:31 am

Don’t even need a dedicated blu-ray player. If you have a PS3 or PS4, then that works too. Also, BD-ROM drives for computers are really cheap too.

  • Joker83

    December 15, 2014 at 8:01 am

So happy to have finally bought a Blu-Ray copy of this movie!!

  • Joe B.

    December 15, 2014 at 9:30 am

Bought! Glad they didn’t run out of stock within minutes of going up for sale lol.

  • December 15, 2014 at 9:43 am

Just ordered it from Japan on the US amazon, it worked for me. Plus I payed extra for fast delivery and I’ll get it for xmass.

  • fmdof

    December 15, 2014 at 10:18 am

Well you assumed wrong, I want the DVD version. Actually, what would be sick, is to do a limited VHS version.

  • December 15, 2014 at 11:15 am

I hope the dvd has the same features. Don’t care if its multiple discs, i’d prefer it actually. It makes the set seem grander to me. As soon as that comes… so bought.

  • Shannon Gold

    December 15, 2014 at 11:20 am

Screenwave media replied to my tweet and said the blu Ray is inbound to Canada, the UK and other countries to their respective amazons… Your wishes have been granted!

    • December 15, 2014 at 2:22 pm

Funny thing is that now it can be ordered from Amazon.com as well..? Yesterday it did not work, but like a few has commented before me, the order went through this time (I’ve seem comments made from Japan, Australia and I’m from Finland).

Too bad we have to wait for the Vol. 8 DVD for at least a year.

      • Shannon Gold

        December 15, 2014 at 3:34 pm

It takes a couple of more days to get the dvds to international amazons. M

    December 15, 2014 at 6:34 pm

    Blu-Ray? What about laser disc?

  • December 15, 2014 at 8:36 pm

In the movie, why is E.T. changed to Eee Tee? Copyright, maybe? That would truly suck…

    • Lukas Sprehn

      December 17, 2014 at 11:53 am

Yes, it was due to copyright. But they made a spoof out of it instead. It’s still unfortunate, but that is just how the industry works.

      • December 17, 2014 at 10:51 pm

Yeah, I was watching the bonus features, and they said the game in the movie was named after the alien, not the Spielberg film.

      • Lukas Sprehn

        December 19, 2014 at 12:29 pm

That is not what happened. They were going to use “E.T.”. They tried to get in touch with Atari, but the ownership of the company changed at some point, and they had to start over with contacting them. When they finally got hold of them they got clearance to use all the artwork and names of every E.T. game they needed, except E.T., because when a game company would make a game based on a movie, the rights would go back to the studio. They contacted the studio then, but the answer they got was “I’m not sure if Mr. Spielberg will be interested in this.” So now they had to get hold of Steven Spielberg, which they they realized was quite impossible. They asked their lawyers about it, but none of the lawyers had an answer, since no one had tried to do a review in a feature film. James and co. decided it would be safest just to go with “Eee Tee: The Extra-Special Alien”, and create a sort of spoof alternate universe.

I registered JUST to comment on this. To those complaining about difficulties shipping internationally…did you even read the fucking description?! He clearly said US only right now, and he’s working on making it available worldwide. A little reading goes a long way folks…

just purchased my copy cant wait 🙂 any news on when The AVGN DVD Complete Pack will be back in stock?

  • Keith Janski

    December 16, 2014 at 11:33 pm

    Hello James & Mike,

I sent this to you via email, but perhaps I will more likely get a hold of you through this method.

Glad to see your AVGN Movie Blu-ray is out on the market before Christmas. I just ordered mine. Is the content in 1080p? If it is, I’m surprised you could fit 14 hours+ of content on a Blu-ray Disc in 1080p. Is it 2 Discs?

Did you film the movie in 1080p, 2K, or 4K (2160p)? I thought you decided to skip the DVD version, but it looks like it is still in the works. I thought there wouldn’t be demand for the DVD version, but it looks like there is demand based on the comments I have read.

Some people still don’t have Blu-ray players or they don’t work because their TVs don’t have HDMI etc. I thought it would be considered pretty much standard now for everyone to have them as they have become very cheap. It looks like international people are complaining that they cannot order through amazon. If you haven’t addressed this issue yet, I suggest you check it out.

    • Lukas Sprehn

      December 17, 2014 at 11:52 am

I can answer some of this for you, since I worked on the movie for some time. It was shot in 1080p, on Panasonic AF100 cameras. The Blu-ray is in 1080p, I am sure. It would be unwise not to put a 1080p version on it I mean. Also, it is obviously more than one disc. You can’t fit as much stuff as they did on just one.

      • DaveStation3

        December 18, 2014 at 12:01 pm

It is only one disc actually. Movie is in 1080p, Special Features are 720p. Still impressive that James managed to fit so much stuff on it.

  • WoodSpire

    December 17, 2014 at 12:33 am

I ordered the blu-ray through amazon.com and was able to select a Quebec, Canada shipping address and billing address.
So I think that canada should now be covered by amazon.

  • DaveStation3

    December 17, 2014 at 5:02 am

I just received mine, can’t believe it’s here already. Shipping was fast as shit! Turbo turds.
Ordered from Amazon US on December 15th and arrived in Dublin, Ireland on December 17th. Good job Screenwave/Amazon/whoever manages the shipping!

  • AbacabSmith

    December 17, 2014 at 11:58 pm

I finally watched it on blu-ray after abstaining from the digital release. It was worth the wait. I foresee myself watching this movie over and over again. It’s one of those movies. Congratulations, and thank you. You are a true auteur. God bless, and happy holidays.

Bought & received, very nice work with all the extras! Still going through them. 😛

Kinda disappointed the audio on the main feature is only Dolby 5.1 @ 448 kbps, would’ve been nice if it had a DTS or Lossless 5.1 audio track.

apparently people are already uploading the movie online to watch for free.. I saw it while searching for something regarding the AVGN movie…. I didn’t watch it of course, i wanna wait til i get the Blu-ray so i can support the Nerd but still.. people work fast to illegally upload movies online these days

Some of (most of) the negative reviews are like a Twilight Zone episode. People miss “old AVGN” humor, and admit to the possibility of growing out of it.

People are nostalgic for the entertainment of a critic of nostalgic entertainment.

For the record: I work in the film industry. Making films is really, really hard. They are way more complex than making a web episode in your basement. It is a completely different animal and you get completely different results. 300K is an impressively low amount of money for what he pulled off. Movies like this can’t be compared to the webseries – apples/oranges etc.

And I mean really – would you have preferred a 2 hour AVGN web episode instead? People who complain about the different characters/style of the movie are stagnating creative growth, not embracing it.

Go out and make your own movie – seriously. Once you have gone through (or at least attempted) the process that he has, your respect for the quality of this film will skyrocket.

Bought myself a copy for Christmas. Had it on Vimeo but I’m glad to be able to get it on disc. For Christmas I also got myself a copy of Dr. Jekyl and Mr, Hyde. I just had to see how bad it was after you talked about it so many times.

Just got this delivered the other day. Got the BD version.

The movie is really good, considering it’s an independent movie. The sounds were very good, and the picture quality was superb in glorious HD. The acting was mostly good, but some parts could have been a tad better, but overall it’s quite good. I did detect some graining in the picture a few places, dunno if that’s intentional or not.
The bonus material is mostly good, but some it is a bit meh IMO, but with so much bonus material, not everything can be top grade.

Overall, I’m impressed, and hope we get another AVGN movie in the furture.

Well, no BluRays to be found on either amazon.co.uk or amazon.de… 🙁

How about selling an autographed version here on this site? 😀

I almost didn’t buy this because of all the negative reviews, which seemed legitimate enough, considering I generally haven’t enjoyed the newer nerd episodes as much as the classics. However, I decided to buy the movie and judge for myself, and I’m so glad I did. I loved the movie. It’s just a fun, happy movie. It’s entertaining and cool, in a cult film kind of way. I hadn’t watched any if the bonus content yet, but I plan on watching the movie again soon.

You really shouldn’t cram all that bonus material on to the same disc as the movie, the movie is compressed as shit, why do this to a movie you put so much work into? I won’t even consider buying the Blu Ray untill there is a two disc edition that dosent have crap video.

Dude, what are you talking about? There’s been a DVD version forever. There’s even a link at the top of the page. “Buy Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie On DVD and Blu-Ray (Amazon)”

Now what’s really annoying is that the Blu-Ray was just restocked, but it’s not shipping outside of the US again! Deliver to Canada!
