The AVGN Movie Blu-ray has been completed (with about 10 hours of bonus content). The discs are being manufactured, and we are just waiting to hear a ship date. I’m hoping it will be in time for the holidays, but for the moment, there’s nothing we can do, but wait.

I’ve had some major technical failures, although they won’t affect anything. My computer completely broke. It couldn’t take the pressure of this movie. In the past two years of intensive post-production, I wore out the entire lifespan of the computer. The timing couldn’t have been better, now that the movie is done, so I’m lucky. Everything is backed up on multiple external hard drives, so nothing is lost, except time.

The computer broke a few weeks ago, and has now been replaced. It’s the first time in my life a warranty has ever covered anything! I’ve spent days awkwardly crammed between my desk and wall, reconnecting wires, with plenty of Doc Brown moments. I still have lots of software to re-install, but I’ll be coming back better and stronger with a fresh new system.

I’ve already begun writing the new AVGN Christmas episode.

I hope the old, broken computer will somedays be seen in a museum with a card saying “This is the machine the AVGN Movie has been edited on”

Sorry to hear about the computer, but I’m glad it was under warranty!

I know you use Apple computers; is it a Mac Pro that you use? I’m a computer nerd, haha 🙂

Very excited that the Blu-ray is finished!

YES, the bluray is coming soon. I’ve yet to see the movie because I wanted to wait for the bluray, and soon I will be able to purchase it, will it be online only? Does anyone know?

Today, lots of people are now using Mac. Which means, Mac is not safe to use. Which means you still have to use Antivirus software (like Norton) and still watch out from virus.

BTW, you should do You Know What’s Bullshit about Computers.

What kind of computer did you end up buying? I’ve been wanting to get another one solely for video editing, but not sure what to buy.

Will any characters from the movie return in any AVGN episodes? I think that’d help tie the movie in better with the show, and I’d certainly like to see some of them again. 🙂

  • December 2, 2014 at 2:44 am

Will it have Swedish subtitles? I’ve yet to see the movie, because I want subtitles in my language. Not really nessessary, but helpful since I have quite bad hearing.

I heard James or Mike buyed a PC Windows to play the AVGN video games on the special episode “AVGN games”, why didn’t he use this computer then, it isn’t too ward to change MAC to WINDOWS? I don’t know, I’m just wondering.

Really sucks to read what happened with your computer but hey, tis the season of miracles! Merry Christmas!

  • December 2, 2014 at 11:05 am

at least the warranty wasn’t useless like the projector bulb you talked about in your “You know what’s bullshit?!” video…
just do your best on getting the movie on dvd/bluray.. it’s well worth the wait.

  • December 2, 2014 at 11:34 am

Sorry to hear about your computer. There’s still a fully loaded dvd set coming right? Can’t wait to see the new xmas episode.

Why do I have this uncanny feeling that your old computer breaking down is symbolism for what you might do once the DVDs have a shipping date?

  • December 2, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Glad the timing was good if that had to happen. Can’t wait to own the bluray! and can’t wait for the Christmas episode!

    Can’t wait for the Blu-Ray!!

  • December 4, 2014 at 2:19 am

Awesome! I was wondering how the DVDs were going. Even if they’re late, I’ll definitely take one. =)

  • December 4, 2014 at 12:17 pm

sorry to hear that your computer died…at least everything is safe ^^

    December 5, 2014 at 11:56 pm

Oh, so that explains why we didn’t get an episode in November

  • adder_doner2

    December 7, 2014 at 12:01 am

If the the 10 hours of bonus content on the bluray is similar to the movie script perk during donation, the features for people who buy the blu-ray will be a slip of paper in the case with a link to a Google Drive folder containing the footage.

I hope James will be able to realise someday that Apple is not the way to go. Apple is like a Volkswagen. unexpected problems all the way. whatever might people say, I’ve worked in computer engineering and the only thing I can tell you is that nobody in our profession wants to touch an Apple ”stolen linux ideas” product. For the basic editor it’s ok but it’s time for james to step up in that domain!!
