I think an awesome Halloween game (for either AVGN or J&M) is Tecmo’s Deception. Its a PS1 game, a generation later than James usually goes, but its perfect. Its got a lot of unique and fun aspects to it, but it was made, as James put it in his review of Castlevania 64, “During that awkward time between the new and the old.” It has just as much to like about it as there is to hate- perfect for an AVGN episode.
October 30, 2014 at 1:47 am
You’d think with me watching “Munky Cheez” a couple of times I wouldn’t have found that awkward, haha… still funny tho.
Yeah, the music sounds like farts, and not the amazing, rhythmic Conker’s Bad Fur Day ones.
October 30, 2014 at 2:42 am
4:43, don’t you mean Frankenstein’s monster?
October 30, 2014 at 3:30 am
Nice one! The moves totally look like Prince of Persia (1989), even the spikes on the floor and the spikes that spring out of the walls, though Prince of Persia came out later.
October 30, 2014 at 6:59 am
ùWhat are you talking about this game came out in 1994. Of course it copies PoP.
October 30, 2014 at 6:20 pm
This is definitely prince of persia
October 30, 2014 at 6:53 pm
The game is very similar to the old Prince of Persia and Flashback games. I never heard of this particular game (Nosferatu) before. After seeing James’ and Mike’s video, I clicked through some of the longplay for Nosferatu on YouTube. While there are some very difficult-looking sections, it is extremely repetitive and gets boring very quickly. It is good that James and Mike didn’t invest a lot of time trying to play through the whole game.

Magic sword? Fuck that shit. I got fists here bro!

Hi, I have noticed that while blocking “Google Analytics”, your video-player won’t work, if I allow “Google Analytics”. It’s a little suspicious, I wonder if you’re aware of it.
Please consider to undo this connection or ask Google, wtf this is about – I don’t see why it would be necessary to the viewers to allow “Google Analytics” 🙁
October 30, 2014 at 4:45 am
* sorry, mad typo before
-> If I allow Google Analytics, the player works.
If I don’t allow it, it doesn’t.
October 30, 2014 at 6:45 am
Weird game. Reminds me of Prince of Persia.
October 30, 2014 at 7:02 am
It’s kinda disappointing that you guys don’t know Prince of Persia at all, or else you would have pointed out how this game is basically a horror version of it. Same graphics, similar gameplay… Sure it gives it a legitemately different spin, but they were clearly borrowing from PoP. I’m guessing you’re not very used to PC games.
October 30, 2014 at 7:04 am
Bonus video! Sweet! I never played this one, but it kind of reminds me of Prince of Persia, with “grabbing for ledges” game mechanic. The theme looks pretty cool, but I can see where it looks like it may go sour quickly… I think it’s funny that this game may be hard, but not as hellish as Super Ghouls and Ghosts! If you guys are passing this up to play other things, I can’t wait to see what they are! Thanks!
October 30, 2014 at 7:33 am
kinda like a good version of the original Prince of Persia
October 30, 2014 at 7:49 am
You seriously haven’t played Prince of Persia since you didn’t mention it? This is a clear ripoff, only with a horror theme.
October 30, 2014 at 9:14 am
looks like it plays like the original Prince of Persia.
October 30, 2014 at 9:54 am
So Lester the Unlikely is a bad version of this.
October 30, 2014 at 10:28 am
I think the monkeys are a reference to Murders in the Rue Morgue.
October 30, 2014 at 11:11 am
James you are one of my favorite people, I love these videos
October 30, 2014 at 11:21 am
Wow, never heard of this one. The graphics and animation look really nice, but it does come across as a poor man’s Castlevania. Have you guys ever played Clock Tower? That’s a great snes game to play around halloween times. sadly, for some reason it was never released in north america, so you either have to resort to emulation or happen to own a super famicon.
October 30, 2014 at 11:44 am
JAMES!! YOUR FUCKING SHIRT!!! Did you REALLY take THAT image from Gamera VS Viras?? Whyyyyyyyy?!??!!?
October 30, 2014 at 12:03 pm
“It’s side scrolling, it’s puzzle, it’s platform, it’s beat em’ up.”
It’s Prince Of Persia in a horror setting.
October 30, 2014 at 12:24 pm
Would love to see more of this game down the line. Thanks for the bonus video, and Happy Halloween! (tomorrow lol)
October 30, 2014 at 12:52 pm
Reminds me a lot of Prince of Persia 🙂
October 30, 2014 at 1:03 pm
I’ve seen someone beat this game back in the day. Dracula’s the end boss and he picks you up and throws you across the room cool stuff happy halloween!
October 30, 2014 at 1:06 pm
Found a longplay video of this game… don’t bother coming back to it, guys. Nothing new in gameplay from what you’ve already shown, and the ending is worthless.
October 30, 2014 at 1:32 pm
Your VCR needs new capacitors for the power supply (judging from the color noise – I have experience with that)
October 30, 2014 at 5:25 pm
Holy crap, this is Prince of Persia but with a vampire theme.
October 30, 2014 at 5:56 pm
This is so cool, and I never heard of it, until I saw this video. Good choice, guys!
Nosferatu´s like Prince of Persia, but way better!
October 30, 2014 at 7:00 pm
It reminds me of “Snatcher”, but with a Gothic feel.
October 30, 2014 at 8:11 pm
There’s no sound on the video. What’s up ? I can barely hear anything. My computer is turned all the way up, but the audio control on the video it’s self isn’t able to be clicked on to turn it up.
October 30, 2014 at 10:33 pm
I thought i’d already seen you guys play this but I was confusing it with Luke Morse’ video on the Super Famicom version, I still got a pile of games to get to going all the way back to my Odyssey 2 🙂
October 30, 2014 at 10:56 pm
Munky Cheez the movie 2015. 100 million dollar budget. In my dream world.
October 31, 2014 at 12:29 am
Mike I love your shirt!!! And nice surprise too guys thank you!
October 31, 2014 at 2:51 am
That game kinda looks like the old Prince of Persias. And I agree on the music sucking.
October 31, 2014 at 6:41 am
No way you guys just did this…
Cinemassacre inspired me to produce game reviews. I only started my channel a few months ago, but Nosferatu is one of the few games I’ve reviewed. Very, very, very strange.
October 31, 2014 at 6:49 am
You guys should play nosferatu the wrath of malachi for pc. Amazing game.
October 31, 2014 at 1:53 pm
This game is not a ripoff of Prince of Persia. PoP would be more likely a rip off of it given that This game was published 4 years before PoP.
November 1, 2014 at 10:39 am
And Prince of Persia was on PC before Windows was produced, so…. Think about it.
November 1, 2014 at 10:38 am
This game reminds me of Prince of Persia.
November 9, 2014 at 9:48 pm
haha your avatar is a weiner
November 2, 2014 at 6:33 pm
i love how at the beginning it was like “this games not so bad” and by the end it sucked donkey dick. its like that when you play games that are semi shit fests
November 3, 2014 at 12:19 pm
Sweet! Monkey cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzz
November 4, 2014 at 8:12 pm
Thanks for wearing my shirt! Glad you got it! X3
November 5, 2014 at 8:57 am
I think what is “off” about it is that you have a movie from the black and white era, and cut scenes which seem to depict the same, yet have a hero who looks like Rowdy Roddy Piper in They Live, rocking the denim vest and rolled up jeans.
November 9, 2014 at 9:18 pm
This game is super cool, I don’t even mind the prince of persia / flashback type controls. but the moves are soooo finicky. maybe I need more practice but to me this fails on controls alone… it’s super frustrating considering the rest of the awesomeness, like there’s a plexiglass wall between you and this great game.
November 17, 2014 at 4:28 pm
It seems like James hasn’t played PoP before? He seems kinda impressed by the rotoscoped animations as if it was a new thing.
November 18, 2014 at 10:22 pm
Reminds me of Flashback. Only because of the character animation and how you navigate the levels. But not the remake. That game is crap.
November 25, 2014 at 12:02 am
This game looked pretty cool. Music did get old FAST lol… enjoyed the video. Good choice. This game looked worthy of at least a play through.
March 5, 2015 at 4:13 pm
As someone who actually has beaten this game, i can confirm that there is no weapon, and the bosses quickly become things you should not be able to beat down with your fists; the Zombie Lord, a ghost, a golem, then the Vampire Lord himself, Nosferatu. The ghost is the hardest of them, I find. If you want to try the others, there’s a level select code, go to options and press LLRRRLLLR. The fight with Nosferatu is fairly epic.
March 24, 2015 at 12:22 am
I bought this game a coupe of years ago and it made me laugh as you punched the monsters in the face to proceed! I like games of this style, the best one I’ve played is Flashback. Out of this World is pretty cool too. Perhaps you could revist this one for like an AVGN Halloween episode?
June 11, 2015 at 1:34 pm
the same company made wizard of oz on snes.
