Ah… I hope they soon do an AVGN/Inspector gadget video where they talk about how people who do this are assholes.
Awesome video, though. How about the beat-em-up Batman? (Batman 3/batman returns). This was the one I had a long time ago, and it kicked an unbelievable amount of ass.
Good job killing the Joker, man. That was awesome.

      • punkbikerdude

        August 18, 2014 at 2:52 pm

@- Dude, I’m pretty sure the comment section is meant for playing the “FIRST” game, not for discussing the videos. I doubt James and Mike would call us assholes because they always leave the “first!”, “second!” and even “third!” posts alone — if anything, I think they WANT us to fill up the comment section with them.

      • -

        August 18, 2014 at 4:00 pm

What makes you think like that?
I’m pretty sure they’re not enjoying the ‘first’ comments just because they don’t address them.
And I’m not asking for James n’ Mike doing it themselves, but rather in AVGN/Inspector gadget characters, who kinda have it in their personality, so that wouldn’t necessarily mean they think these people are assholes, they just warn it’s dumb.
I just want them address the problem somehow. It’s annoying.

Now I feel like I’m seriosly overreacting about that.

      • MrBrrumpkins

        August 22, 2014 at 2:49 pm

I guess we have to let the children play. I’m sure James and Mike won’t handle it like other forum sites where your post gets deleted if it has no input into the discussion/post/feedback. Even to the point where their account gets deleted and IP banned. They might not have time to moderate it like that. They can make one of us a moderator for things like this. They can limit your privileges to deleting posts or something. Also, don’t say first and “awesome video” when you didn’t even watch it first.

did you saw the new batman action figure based on the videogame?

      It`s so radical man!

BTW, there is a propotype of the NES batman game with different cut-scenes, and the joker isn`t the final boss

      • Marky Johnson 9/30/82

        August 18, 2014 at 7:16 pm

No I didn’t saw it, but I seen it. Lol

Seriously though, I grew up with this game and was never able to beat the Joker as a kid. I might pop it in after finishing this video.

If you wanna play a Zelda game, try the LTP hack called Parallel Worlds.

    • Weldin Dunn

      August 18, 2014 at 12:11 am

I don’t think they would because it uses and emulator, and I know they don’t like to do those.

      • Andrew Wood

        August 18, 2014 at 12:18 am

True, but there’s actually a SNES cartridge of it available. It can be found on Ebay, although it’s usually pretty pricey, like $50 usually.

  • Weldin Dunn

    August 18, 2014 at 12:08 am

I neve did beat this game, but it’s not currently in my collection. Glad you played a classic like this.

  • Don Skiver

    August 18, 2014 at 12:34 am

Nice fucking work, James and Mike!!! This is definitely one of the hardest games in the entire NES library. You should totally go out for ice cream now to celebrate your victory. 😛

    • Lodmot

      August 18, 2014 at 2:02 am

I think I’d want a fuckin’ COCKTAIL after that one! xD

  • August 18, 2014 at 1:16 am

“I have given a name to my pain, and it is Batman.” You did bring this quote to its utmost potential. That was hearth pounding!

  • Panthour

    August 18, 2014 at 1:56 am

Congratulations James and Mike! I have this game in my collection and this video definitely inspired me to give this game another shot, because I (like many others) have never beaten this. So thanks!

Beating difficult games from childhood must be the greatest feeling in the world. I remember when I first beat Contra 4, and I was overwhelmed with joy, even though it isn’t a nostalgic game. For me, there’s one demon from my childhood that I really want to beat one day, and that is a Biohazard Battle for the Genesis. I haven’t had my Genesis since I got my PS1 back in the day, but I have had the game on my Wii for some years now, and still haven’t beaten it on easy, with the life bar set to full, even with a friend. I want to conquer it, but you’ve been at it longer than I have James, and have multiple such games to get through, so my sympathies. I guess it gives you even more to strive for though.

  • Kriss Nunez

    August 18, 2014 at 2:09 am

  • pleasetakeabow

    August 18, 2014 at 2:44 am

    August 18, 2014 at 3:05 am

Good job, James! 🙂 Now? Do the Ninja Gaiden Trilogy! 😛

  • August 18, 2014 at 4:02 am

wow it was really intense and exciting. Congratulations to James beating the fuck out of the Joker. I laughed so hard when he said he pretended that the Joker really killed his parents 😀

Where is Sunsoft now, i just feel like they’re another developer gone to apps market, because every information online says they’re alive and kickin’.

I just japanese developers didn’t go the app market route, we need their creativity and difficulty levels on consoles. I mean look at the western market schedule from here till december…brrrr, such ‘murica…

  • Pablo1989

    August 18, 2014 at 4:48 am

  • August 18, 2014 at 5:36 am

Congratulations, that was friggin´ awesome and intense!
    Thumbs up!

  • August 18, 2014 at 6:16 am

congrats on beating the joker James.. and the getting through the game in general.. must have been as hard as a 3 day old turd to do.. James, did you honestly expect you’d be able to beat the game when you and Mike first sat down to play this game for James & Mike Mondays?

  • August 18, 2014 at 6:58 am

Congratulations on your epic win, James. I think this is my FAVORITE James & Mike Mondays so far, and here’s the reasons why. I was actually rooting for you guys to beat the Joker and it felt so cinematic watching you attempt to defeat the Joker and strategizing the whole time and showing awesome teamwork. I think Mike was a good coach. He kinda sucks at this game though. haha no offense Mike and I can tell it’s a hard game. And this is also my favorite because the ending really payed off. James FINALLY beating another game after trying for over 25 years. I was rooting for you the whole time and my heart was racing. I nearly had a heart attack. That line about imagining the Joker killing your parents had me laughing pretty hard. If there’s ever a sequel to AVGN the Movie, you should DEFINITELY put that line in there. I really hope there will be more James and Mike Mondays like this in the future, where you play the whole game and at least attempt to beat them. I think it works with old school games like this best, because this was when games were games. 😀

    • MrBrrumpkins

      August 18, 2014 at 1:29 pm

I agree. These two episodes are definitely up there if not the best. I’d put this with the Contra, Super C, ToeJam & Earl and Atari Jaguar CD episodes.

  • AnyExpression

    August 18, 2014 at 7:07 am

I rarely comment on here but i’m an avid watcher. This is the best J&MM so far. Intense, funny and highly entertaining. I definitely would like to see you guys complete games more often. I prefer the longer 30min 2 part videos to the short 5 minute videos. Keep up the good work x

    Well done, James, congats)))

    August 18, 2014 at 7:38 am

…Reminded me of my own childhood. one of the toughest games i’ve ever played for sure. i never beat this game my self but i remeber the fun i had with this game, bur also the fustration. i mean look at james there on the video, while playing he is clearly sweating and ends up shimmering like a crystal ball =D. i know a nother game that they should play. a game that made me sweat and curse a lot =) Swordmaster on NES. dunno about you but thats another game that i could never beat. might have been because i was young(er) then but i remember it as one of the harder games that i have ever played. do that one james and mike!

  • taykel

    August 18, 2014 at 8:10 am

Wow. That was really intense. I was afraid James wouldn’t be able to beat the Joker but I’m so happy he did. Congrats man.

  • August 18, 2014 at 8:38 am

That was intense. Great vid, guys.

  • August 18, 2014 at 8:59 am

Crazy how after all these years this game can still bring out the rage of an 8 year old… lol. Mike is afraid to laugh or say anything…I was waiting for a “Stop talking!! You made me mess up!!!”

  • Rick

    August 18, 2014 at 9:45 am

YYYYEEEEEEAAAHH!! 😀 I didn’t even know this game was fuckin’ beatable 😛 Just like the Super C video, I was holding my breath right there with ya’!

  • judgen

    August 18, 2014 at 9:48 am

Nerd fail, the Joker did not kill Batmans parents. Joe Chill is the villain who took their lives.

    • Satnav

      August 18, 2014 at 10:36 am

In the Burton film this is based on Joker did kill his parents. Yeah, that was one of the aspects I wasn’t too keen on.

    • MrBrrumpkins

      August 18, 2014 at 1:41 pm

      JUDGEN fail. It’s the Nerd’s turn…

“What’s up you dumb fuck tupple mother humping muppet fucker’s uncle!”

  • August 18, 2014 at 10:31 am

You got this man!!! Dude, you should totaly try to finish Dr.Jekyll and mr hyde.. IT is possible! 🙂 (Y)

  • Dave Harden

    August 18, 2014 at 10:49 am

You need to get to the Joker on the first life “rest” after the continue and farm that damn thing at the end to fill your life meter.

  • adder_doner2

    August 18, 2014 at 10:53 am

Next up – Ninja Gaiden (II or III are the best). It’s great watching you play GOOD games, ones that really test your mettle. AVGN is a hit because it beats us in the head with nostalgia – watching y’all play through this game gives me the feeling those old AVGN videos used to..that childhood magic.

Good job James! I’m definetely gonna play this one again soon!

  • Harsono Ng

    August 18, 2014 at 12:15 pm

keep your range at the edge of joker gun, use boomerang weapon. stay down at firing. after a thunder try to jump straight up to avoid his gun.

or just use tri-gun stay at the left at keep firing from far. if you have enough amunition. remember to jump when joker shooting

  • Grandmasterp

    August 18, 2014 at 12:19 pm

“Wanna get nuts?!! C’mon let’s get nuts!!! ” That made me laugh my ass off. Ha ha. Watching you guys beat that game got me pumped to play it again. I think that Batman for nes just moved back on top of my priority list. One of the best James & Mike Mondays so far, and nice job conquering that hard ass son of a bitch. Oh yeah, one more thing, “Love that Joker.”

  • Oscar Lehtonen

    August 18, 2014 at 12:38 pm

That was some serious gaming! Really intense! Seeing forward to next week

  • Kreta_TX

    August 18, 2014 at 1:56 pm

You should review “the droogs” from A Clockwork Orange, that reminds me of the twisted mind of the contemporary Joker, There are many things that puzzle me in that film, and speaking of which how much diffrent is our contemporary society since then, it’s more of an adult kind of film but stanley kubric made also 2001 space odysee, which from the book you can acquire where Steve Jobs got it’s inspiration for the I Pad, or really the the so called NewPad, not science fiction anymore, but real big cult.

  • maximuscesar

    August 18, 2014 at 2:16 pm

James could not concentrate anymore because he was nervous, he was missing things he wasn’t before.

  • August 18, 2014 at 2:51 pm

Great video and congrats on beating the game! That takes me back to my childhood. I never owned the game, but it would have been more cost effective if I had considering how often it was rented out from the local video store.

Although I beat the game as a kid, I sincerely doubt I could do it now, so, again, congratulations on punching Joke in the face. 😉

  • scott225

    August 18, 2014 at 4:07 pm

I watched this hours ago and my heart is still pounding. Fucking Joker! Good job on finishing it, I don’t know if I would have had the patience.

  • August 18, 2014 at 4:39 pm

Boomerangs work the best on the Joker. Same tactic, up close, but with boomerangs. Your hitting twice for every one you throw at that point.

  • jasonjrf

    August 18, 2014 at 4:57 pm

    Contra 3 SNES please

  • S.Peelman

    August 18, 2014 at 5:35 pm

Nice job guys! I could feel the tention.

Isn’t it the best feeling in the world when you finally beat a hard game you’ve been trying for years. You feel so powerful!

  • kult38

    August 18, 2014 at 5:37 pm

Loved this episode. Felt really intense, like I was playing along with you guys. Great stuff.

  • An Heroic Hippo

    August 18, 2014 at 5:45 pm

You guys need to play Super Meat Boy. Once you do that, then let’s talk about difficult jumping and wall jumping.

    • diegowar

      August 18, 2014 at 6:39 pm

When you miss something on Super Meat Boy, you can retry instantly pretty much where you left off. When you fuck up in Batman, you jeopardize your chances to finish the level, and if you don’t you have to start it all over again.

  • The Formless One

    August 18, 2014 at 6:21 pm

    Congratulations, James. At last… 😀

  • diegowar

    August 18, 2014 at 6:37 pm

Another Epic video. I love the ones in this style. Here the fact that you cut some of the parts wasn’t too problematic as there was a lot of retries, and you still left the most important moments of the retries.

All in all great, feel free to make more 🙂 !

  • Pasi Kymäläinen

    August 18, 2014 at 6:58 pm

It was nice to hear some of motherfucker Mikes history. I never had NES. I´m a C64 guy.

      August 18, 2014 at 7:27 pm

And JAmes is SO red!…. 😀

  • August 18, 2014 at 6:58 pm

i dont like how at the end of the nes batman game batman kills the joker at the end because batman doesn’t kill and i know it’s the nes there’s only so much you can do with it’s power but i still would have liked to see a cutscene when there on the ledge of the church like in the movie and then you see him fall but that’s just my opinion i do think it’s cool batman throws him off the building but i just don’t like to see batman killing anyone but i do like how the nes game sort of haves an alternate ending that the movie doesn’t that’s cool too! anyway congratulations james for beating the joker for the first time it’s cool to see you and mike use teamwork to beat the games very nice video.

  • August 18, 2014 at 7:11 pm

How fucking high is Mike. He can barely keep his eyes open

  • GameCom

    August 18, 2014 at 7:20 pm

YES! Nice job at the end, that was intense!

  • Big McLargehuge

    August 18, 2014 at 7:50 pm

Yeah! The Joker got his ass kicked! Awesome!

    August 18, 2014 at 10:59 pm

What an intense playthrough, Batman is still an inconquerable classic but I’m glad you got to beat it since Mike already had that glory. 25 years, eh? That is the look I felt on my face when I finally beat TMNT after, yeah, about 20 years. This is how James & Mike Mondays need to be sometimes!

  • Ace

    August 18, 2014 at 11:34 pm

Everything about this vid was awesome, but the look on Mike’s face at 11:49 when he has his epiphany was priceless!

  • Travis McNabb

    August 20, 2014 at 2:09 pm

Fucking epic! So glad you beat the Joker. I needed that closure. I laughed my ass off when you said while you were fighting him, “I was imagining he really killed my parents.”, LOL! That shit was hysterical! Sometimes it takes that type mentality in order to win. Great job! You did awesome.

  • Hypoxic

    August 22, 2014 at 7:30 am

I agree. You guys should play Zelda one day. That would be awesome.

Kudos on finally beating mr. J, James, took you long enough. *jk*
I beat him when I was 12 but I geeked out and did Nothing for like a year before that, so….
Oh, btw… did you see how “easy” it was when you stood “inside” of the Joker? Yeah, that’s the real trick, just like with every other enemy in the game! =)

  • August 27, 2014 at 7:19 am

Wow that was so intense. More videos like this please 🙂

Such a great game, i started to playing the game after watching this episode. It isnt too hard up till last stage, and Joker is pretty random boss, unless your strategy is perfect. But i highly recomend it, one of best NES games for me.

  • September 11, 2014 at 2:54 am

James, you button mashing master! Well done! That is so awesome that we got to see you beat Joker for the first time! Thanks for letting us all be a part of that. Man, I always got items from that drop claw at the top of the cathedral. I think it’s kind of cool that in the last, hardest part of the game, you have all those weapons, and you barely use them. The only way to get through it is to master that wall jump and punch the snot out of everything.
(except Firebug) I know what this one is like, and dear Lord, it isn’t easy… Excellent video and well played! Thank you!

  • September 14, 2014 at 9:01 am

OH MY GOD THEY KILLED JOKER! YOU BASTARDS! Actually james killed the joker that time.

  • November 7, 2014 at 4:38 pm

Just like the real Batman.. took you almost 20 years..

I practiced up a bit and now it’s one of my go to games. Got so good at it that I have had a no death run. Pattern memorization on the last two bosses can be a son of a bitch sometimes.
