    Some great stuff

  • May 5, 2014 at 12:23 am

You’re getting input lag because the TV has far too much processing going on most likely. Turn off any tools like noise reduction or motion smoothing if they’re on (they should be off anyway). If the TV has a game mode, turn that on; it eliminates all of that additional processing. The switches shouldn’t be adding much if anything to the lag.

    • Don Skiver

      May 5, 2014 at 2:19 am

^—What this guy said. Turn on “Game Mode” on your TV if you have that option. Otherwise, go with the other suggestions.

    • May 5, 2014 at 5:17 am

That fixed it, thanks! I had no idea there was a “game mode” option in my TV’s settings. I’m used to CRT televisions from the 80s!

      • Don Skiver

        May 6, 2014 at 1:17 am

Same here. The only reason I ever found out about all those options like that was because I read my new TV’s manual while taking a dump one time. 😛

      • May 6, 2014 at 12:26 pm

Also if you’re playing Dark Souls, this option is a must

      • Deathbringer

        May 6, 2014 at 12:49 pm

        Welcome to the future, heh.

      • May 6, 2014 at 3:29 pm

No problem! If you ever want more help with TV set up or calibration, let me know!

      • Smokingspoon

        May 6, 2014 at 8:04 pm

Pff, lol… I didn’t know that! I still use a crt television xD. I didn’t bother switching back then in the better tv gimmick. I’ll wait for, maybe, what will replace lcd.

      • May 8, 2014 at 11:42 am

I also told you two pages ago! *sobs*…. naaah =) good thing you solved it.

      • Marky Johnson 9/30/82

        May 22, 2014 at 8:39 pm

Lol thats right Mike the 80s were awesome now play wizard and warriors on the nes lol.

Gotta love that Techodrome playset. I wish I hadn’t yard saled mine off all those years ago.

  • May 5, 2014 at 1:12 am

Didn’t Nintendo already do this sort of thing with Nintendo World Championships?

    • CaptainViggo

      May 5, 2014 at 10:18 am

That’s exactly what James said in the video.

  • diesel

    May 5, 2014 at 1:19 am

Impressive console collection Mike.I recently started collecting too,my girlfriend not to happy about that though:)I’m snooping for SNES in good condition but is so hard to find decent one for decent price in UK.Great video guys.

I love Italian. And so do you.

  • Tross

    May 5, 2014 at 1:45 am

If I ever get a wii u, I’ll definitely get those games. The challenges seem to range from just plain game stuff, to actual challenges, that are kind of neat. I guess it varies by difficulty, with the extra challenge stuff happening later?

    • May 5, 2014 at 1:58 am

Yes, it pretty much gets harder as it goes. I REALLY love the NES remix games, and I hope Nintendo keeps making them. The possibilities for future installments are endless.

      • IGAmazingBob

        May 5, 2014 at 11:46 am

Did you two play any of the Remix challenge levels? Those are the best and most creative part of the game!

  • May 5, 2014 at 2:00 am

Huh, Craig and Ben from ScrewAttack also played this the other day…

  • MadHitz

    May 5, 2014 at 2:15 am

Hey James and Mike, quick question: Why does the video player on this website always pause several times to load, but when I watch your videos on your youtube channel, they work perfectly?

  • Sammy Schitz

    May 5, 2014 at 3:50 am

NES Remix 3: The LJN Edition

    • Laurits Kristiansen

      May 8, 2014 at 7:40 pm

      I would buy that

  • frostare

    May 5, 2014 at 3:52 am

If they did one with Adventure Island, Megaman, Bubble Bobble, Bomberman, Contra, P.O.W., Pinball Quest, Battle City, Yo-Noid and Asmik-kun Land that would be the shit. Well, not really on those last two.

  • May 5, 2014 at 3:56 am

Interesting stuff. Btw, I have to ask. How does the Wii U game pad compare with, say, the Atari Lynx?

  • May 5, 2014 at 3:59 am

    Hi Mike,

About the delay, you should check the TV’s setup, because if it has a “Game Mode” and you don’t turn it on, the TV is using certain filters and other stuff that makes the delay a lot worse.

Maybe the switches you got are fucking it up too, but just in case, try this =)

  • May 5, 2014 at 4:39 am

Nice compilation. I think it can be done on LUA but i dont know if any emulators support something like that.

  • Putosaure

    May 5, 2014 at 5:25 am

Cool video, you should have split it in two parts, because you didn’t play any of the remix stages, which are the cool part of the game

  • Joshua Flannery

    May 5, 2014 at 5:56 am

Hey guys I have a suggestion for next Monday, the new godzilla movie comes out next Friday so I figured maybe you could play a godzilla game next Monday. Now I’ve got one for you to play I know James mentioned it in his godzilla episode and he said he did not like it as a kid because it wasn’t a fighting style game, but in spite of that it actually was one of my favorite godzilla games of all time and not because of the gameplay it was due to the actually good story like it had, I know it’s been done a thousand times before but they did it better in Super Godzilla. It has a unique monster at the end and plus the transformation at the end of the game you get to see godzilla go through is amazing in my opinion it makes the king of monsters even more bad ass. I wished they would have made this into a movie because as I said it would have been one for the books! So check it out fellas!

  • May 5, 2014 at 8:34 am

Since James liked Dr. Mario so much, you guys should review Dr. Luigi on the Wii U.

  • May 5, 2014 at 10:28 am

I’m kind of wincing every time I hear James and Mike say “Ganon” the way “cannon” is pronounced. I always understood it to be pronounced Gah-non. Indeed when I later learned to read Japanese Kana, it phonetically sounded out as Gah-non.

  • MAMEFan

    May 5, 2014 at 10:46 am

You guys didn’t show the remixes. I’m hoping for another video of just those.

  • Johan Öberg

    May 5, 2014 at 11:02 am

Disappointing that you play NES Remix, and didn’t play any of the remix stages!

  • johnpseudo

    May 5, 2014 at 11:09 am

Guys, please normalize the loudness of the videos, it`s usually very low. I bet you can give it a boost with you video-editing software.

  • ezstatic

    May 5, 2014 at 11:56 am

Just so you know there had been a rumor, that the Wii U had originally considered for the name, “Nintendo”. Scary that they had already considered that, lol.

  • Sean Baker

    May 5, 2014 at 12:05 pm

That is very disappointing that you chose not to enable Miiverse features, Mike. It would have been cool to see your guys’ replays in the game.

  • May 5, 2014 at 12:46 pm

TV:s have different amount of input lag. Here’s a british site that measured input lags in tv.

Game Mode is usually recommended, but if there is a PC mode, take that instead.

  • luconator

    May 5, 2014 at 12:51 pm

    Once again nice video guys!

  • Dan Simmons

    May 5, 2014 at 12:58 pm

Idk if it’s an iOS issue, or bandwidth, or what. When I try to watch these on y iPad 3, every few minutes the hd turns into a pixelated smudge, and the audio sounds like I have my hand over the speaker. And it doesn’t come back up either. You have to reload the page and skip forward to where you left off.

  • eric mooney

    May 5, 2014 at 1:48 pm

Mike is right about the MII verse bullshit, i hate it too Maybe it’s got something to do with what generation/age you from/are. i hate onlineprofiles and mulimedia stuff forced down your throat.. Greetz from a 26 year old guy from the Netherlands

  • May 5, 2014 at 4:38 pm

Finally, good Wii games! 😉 Just kidding, the Wii´s shit.
    Good video, though.

  • Orionsaint

    May 5, 2014 at 6:58 pm

Wow Mike, you even have OUYA. You really are committed. Now you just need Amazon Fire TV.

  • Paulballsftw

    May 5, 2014 at 8:20 pm

The Wii U was going to be called Nintendo Ultra but they changed it. I wish they had called it Nintendo Ultra so then it wouldn’t have been recognized as a Wii anymore since that was a failure.

    • Shadao

      May 8, 2014 at 10:56 pm

First off, there is no evidence that the Wii U was going to be called the Nintendo Ultra. Ultra is likely referring to the Nintendo 64 which was going to be called the Nintendo Ultra 64. Second, the Wii was one of the highest selling consoles of all time, and it made Nintendo a lot of money. It is natural from them to capitalize the name.

  • nammm3

    May 5, 2014 at 10:57 pm

LOL! That would be great, to have a NES Remix of all the worse games 😛 Great video you guys, the only game James seemed to be hooked on was Dr. Mario

  • May 6, 2014 at 2:35 am

And NES Remix II includes also a full fledged Championship Mode, along with the collection of Games and Challenges.

Yeah, Nintendo is allowing some great ideas through their indie program.

  • Aaron1375

    May 6, 2014 at 2:47 am

You have a very nice set up Mike, I wish mine looked that pristine. Mine has wires everywhere!

    • May 7, 2014 at 4:11 am

My girlfriend set it up so that the wires weren’t so noticeable. I’m glad she did because it looks a lot better now.

        May 7, 2014 at 10:24 am

        Mighty Bomb Jack(NES)
        Please review this game.

      • Aaron1375

        May 12, 2014 at 12:53 pm

Yeah, it looks awesome, it inspires me to try and make mine look neat. However, that inspiration will probably die quickly after I start trying to untangle wires.

  • Sun-Wukong

    May 6, 2014 at 3:07 am

Woah, guys, I haven’t even played A Link Between Worlds yet. How about a spoiler warning?

    May 6, 2014 at 7:29 am

    Great video, James and Mike.

  • Jonn

    May 6, 2014 at 7:31 am

By the way, the delay on the TV might be fixable if you turn it to PC mode. Might be worth a shot.

  • Dariusz

    May 6, 2014 at 7:40 am

OK, time for some Useless Polish Trivia!

In Poland Bowser is commonly called Koopa, like in the Japanese version. What’s funny about it is that “koopa” is pronounced exactly the same as “kupa” a Polish word that you in the States also use… it translates roughly to “poop”. So yeah… to me, when I was a kid and playing Mario, Bowser was basically King Shit – and yes, I was 6 and I found that extremely hilarious. 😉

  • Pinball Guru

    May 6, 2014 at 5:04 pm

Very cool to see you guys play a bit of video pinball… Now how about an AVGN? I’m just sayin’… an evolution of video pinball episode would be a hell of a thing! Some day… (I am diggin’ the Mondays in the meantime though, and all kinds of psyched for the AVGN Movie!) #ballsofsteel

  • gluserty

    May 6, 2014 at 6:03 pm

I enjoyed the hell out of this video; I think this was a great concept by Nintendo (otherwise, I haven’t seen anything from the Wii U library that intrigued me).

  • mysterywolf

    May 6, 2014 at 10:44 pm

My only gripe about the game is that “Championship mode” aren’t the three original games. I’d love for them to make that in NES Remix 3, putting out Rad Racer, Tetris, maybe getting the license for Mega Man like it was mentioned…there are hundreds of NES games that could be put up in Remix to serve as a demo for people to buy. The remix is what made me buy Dr. Mario.

  • Keenan Van der Griend

    May 6, 2014 at 11:54 pm

It’s funny how you guys said “wouldn’t it be nice to say let’s go play some Nintendo tapes again” because Sony just came out with that new technology to store like 180TB of data on a cassette tape, so that technology might eventually be converted into a new digital media. That’d be something.

  • May 6, 2014 at 11:56 pm

Can I just say James and Mike Mondays are awesome! I’m so glad this is going on like every single week. I hope you both enjoy them and just put out whatever you guys want. I would love to see you guys play an entire single player game the whole way through… That would be really cool. Def a game that you have never played, but something LENGENDARY.

Thanks James and Mike, whatever you do just keep making these videos!

  • Eric Albrecht

    May 7, 2014 at 6:12 pm

Great Video Guys. I was wondering if you guys have every play a DVD game called Power Hour DVD The Beer Man Says… DVD Drinking Game if not you guys should try it out it’s horrible and I think you guys will be funny making a video of it.

  • skwij

    May 8, 2014 at 9:46 am

    Nintendo tapes!

    • skwij

      May 8, 2014 at 9:57 am

Some old non-Nintendo games for challenges would be great! Rush ‘N Attack, Goonies II, Castlevania, Contra, Blaster Master, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Turtles, Life Force, Final Fantasy… The list could go on… Anyway, thanks, as always, for the video!

  • GamerEX

    May 8, 2014 at 12:11 pm

Sitting here, seeing them talk about Mario and him being bad and now a good guy. These guys haven’t seen the Game Theorists video where they show off how insane and evil Mario is lol

Also. Mike has an Ouya. Awesome.

  • Laurits Kristiansen

    May 8, 2014 at 7:44 pm

An nes remix with just shitty games is something i would buy

  • Dob Bylan

    May 8, 2014 at 9:11 pm

Sorry to break it to ya, Mike, but you’re getting FAT!!! Big time, buddy! Seriously, has all the “fame” gotten to you?

  • May 9, 2014 at 6:01 pm

How did you guys not play any of the Remix stages that whole time? That’s the whole fun of NES Remix—wacky stuff like playing Super Mario Bros. as Samus.

  • May 28, 2014 at 1:36 pm

it is like Nintendo world championships I agree

  • May 29, 2014 at 8:36 pm

I don’t understand why Mike was so disgusted with the question about MiiVerse. I think it is an interesting function and basically simplifies an aspect of what they already do on Cinemassacre. Not to mention how awesome it would be to interact with the Cinemassacre community.

  • Mike Hann

    June 5, 2014 at 10:41 pm

I install home theaters and televisions for a living and every time I set one up for a client I always turn all that smooth motion/noise reduction shit off. It makes a huge difference. Especially on Samsung TV’s–I’m not a fan of them.

  • rydamusprime

    June 26, 2014 at 10:17 am

Great video as always, but would have loved to hear what you guys had to say about the actual remixed levels

  • chris jackso

    July 29, 2014 at 9:29 am

Mike, Tell him what to do, you obviously know. seems like you just enjoy seeing him fuck up.

plus, stop acting like your playing certain games for the first time, when its clear you know exactly what to do and what strategy to use. be real

thats why we like james. hes real. 99%

    November 11, 2014 at 4:44 pm

NIntendo remade Super Mario Bros 2 back in 2001. It’s just called Super Mario Advance and it contains a remake of Mario Bros as well. It’s quite good.

  • gameboynin

    November 11, 2014 at 4:55 pm

Also, WarioWare Inc. for GBA is all minigames,… that includes a full copy of Dr Mario. Also, a number of the minigames are also NES games.

…actually, it’s rather like this NES Remix. WarioWare just, you know, came out in 2003.
