Thank YOU James. Seriously…you have been an outlet for thousands and thousands of people. Whenever I’m having a rough day or going through a tough time in my life, I can always play a few AVGN videos to make me laugh and get me through it. I know you have some idea of how much all your videos mean to people, but I can assure you that your contributions have made a HUGE lasting impression on many people’s lives, mine included.
Personally, I have shared your videos with many friends to get them hooked, and bought the nerd DVDs for myself, etc… but I feel that your fanbase is very loyal and we’ll always have your back. I hope you & Mike keep up the amazing work, and if you ever need a helping hand or something from us, don’t be afraid to reach out!
Thanks for all that you do.

Well said Eric, I couldn’t agree more.

That’s great Eric. Wanna get on your knees and kiss his ass a little bit more

the nerd is a good example of a common man working his way through life’s struggles. his entire life is actually documented on this website and youtube through videos. amazing. it’s not a story being told by someone who dresses it up. james lived it through videos in front of our eyes.

The fact that you care so much about your fans shows a lot about your character and that’s why I keep watching and supporting you. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Thank you, Mike and James, for so many years of Nerd humor. The videos you two make give me things to laugh about during the day and when I’m playing video games.
Cheap deaths for life.
April 2, 2014 at 4:51 pm
Used to just watch the nerd videos, but now I watch pretty much everything that’s posted on this site. Thank you and your friends to give me some good humour on the internet, and something to look forward too when I go online.
April 2, 2014 at 5:12 pm
Thank you James for making these awesome videos you are the best and keep up the amazing work 🙂
April 2, 2014 at 6:11 pm
awesome video, great insight on what went on behind the scenes early on. I’ve been watching since you posted the “Friday the 13th” video up and it’s a real inspiration to see how far you’ve come since then.
April 2, 2014 at 6:14 pm
wow James i didn’t realised the sacrifice you made just to entertain us back then but in the end it was all worth it and i praise you for that.
April 2, 2014 at 6:19 pm
You’re welcome. (:
April 2, 2014 at 6:20 pm
Thank you James! You’ve not only provided hours of entertainment but you’ve actually inspired myself and countless others to go back and play the systems and games of our youth. I’ll be 37 in a week so I’m definitely your “target demographic”. In fact I have recently started re-acquiring all the systems and games I used to own but sold when I was broke in my early 20’s. The retro gaming scene is HUGE right now and a LOT of that renewed enthusiasm is because of you! Keep up the great work.
April 2, 2014 at 6:57 pm
You are quite welcome, James. I’m glad that you are able to finally live out your lifelong dream of being a filmmaker. I’d say that we, the fans, got the better end of the deal since we get all this wonderful content (for free!)
Just think, once the AVGN movie is finished and released, imagine the exposure you’re going to get, and the recognition you deserve as a filmmaker. Things can only get better for you and family, James. Here’s to living the dream! Cheers!

It’s not only the love you put in the Nerd episodes that makes you my and many other’s favorite internet celebrity, but it’s also that you open your heart and have the courage to let us know more about your personal life and how much it changed, and that I feel is even more of a morale booster; it helps people to try hard to overcome their own obstacles. People from all around the world too! ¡Muchas gracias!

James has helped me through some tough times and especially as a younger viewer, you have been an inspiration to me to do what I love. Thanks for helping me get through some tough times, you are the best and thank you
April 2, 2014 at 8:56 pm
And we thank you, James. My appreciation for your work, and for you as a person, grew out of the Nerd character long ago. A couple of years ago I was unemployed and even considered a career change from IT to filmmaking because of you (thank God I talked myself out of it, though =p).
Today I can hapilly say that I’m not an AVGN fan. I’m a fan of James Rolfe. And not only your work, but yourself as a person.

Thank you James. Thank you for the laughs. Thank you for sticking Mike in front of the camera and pushing him to make his own shows. Oh, and thank your wife for me as well.

Couldn’t have made yourself be any more loved by your fanbase! It’s great to watch your videos and share the same videogame and movie tastes as you (ESPECIALLY YOUR LOVE FOR GODZILLA!). I hope you’ll continue your success and keep up the great work with everything! Very cool to see you opening up about your relationship w/ your wife when you two were going through tough times.
April 5, 2014 at 2:11 am
You have heard it a thousand times, but thank you! It is always a treat to see anything on Cinemassacre. Always reminds me of the good old days of early entertainment! Seeing how your collection has grown keeps me hunting myself. My old collection use to just be a drawer. Now it takes up half my room! Anyways, knowing you are able to enjoy what you are doing makes these all the more entertaining! You also LEARN a lot from your shows. Never realized that pong systems where THAT old!
Anyways, thank you for keeping up the show. I also love the James and Mike Mondays. Real honest gamer reactions. Keep it up the both of you!
April 5, 2014 at 5:16 am
Wow, I didn’t know anything about this. Your past as a lesser nerd and the financial problems you had. Congratulations, James! It was a nice little inside look into your personal life you don’t always show us.
April 5, 2014 at 7:17 pm
You’re welcome James, and thanks for making so many awesome videos. I can’t wait for the Nerd movie. And no kidding about those full-time wage-slave jobs, they’re a shitload of fuck.
April 6, 2014 at 4:02 pm
Hey James and family/friends,
Thanks for this video. Just got a Little tear in my eye.
I really hear that about being at a tough workplace, been there, really down and stressed out… You who have millions of fans World wide are a human being too. Lots and lots of looove right back at you. And support. Best wishes to family. Looking forward to your videos, Always. So many hours of laughter and Entertainment you have given me. And inspiration.
I also want to tell you thanks especially for the video about Sword Quest. It was really touching, I love the music. This is your gift; the ability of putting together humor, knowledge, nostalgia and touching us. Our childhood, right here.
I doubt I have ever met a person whom I have so much in common with IRL. I guess many others feel that way about you. I know it is easy to think this way of a person ypu never met. You talk about Nintendo Power and I read that same article, translated into my own language, bought by my own local Nintendo Mag, 20 years ago. The same frustrations, the same jokes we used to make at home. You had the exact same E.T. doll I had as a baby. Soo awesome… Hope to see you make new episodes of you reading your fanmail, it was great!
Thanks again from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for all your hard work. We appreciate it and we love you James.
Greetings from Sweden and a happy Easter holiday!

I SUPER appreciate seeing a video like this. For the longest time, I wandered around aimlessly through life not knowing what to do or even how to reconcile my passions with certain things, and even went though a period of uncertainty trying to figure what it was I wanted to do.
James is one of many people that convinced and inspired me to believe having an interest in the arts is good as a career and not just a hobby. Seeing a video like this is really humbling to me, because sometimes I feel as if I may not be doing the right thing in my path and I sometimes have doubts, but to see James describe what his life was like when he began with the Nerd (I’m about the same age now as Mr. Rolfe was in 2006) and how my circumstances right now are very similar (that I’m trying to start an entertainment business with my passion for the arts). It helps me understand that successful internet personalities like James are just people with the same problems as us, but James really believes in expressing oneself through art and that the only things that matter when doing so is having the love for it, working hard at it, and having the desire to entertain people by making them laugh, cry, etc. Thank you, James for helping inspire me and so many others with your work!

Really dude… Thank you!! Cinemassacre for ever!
April 8, 2014 at 1:20 pm
I remember years ago some friend of mine sent me the Friday the 13th episode, I watched it and from that moment on I was hooked. It’s been 8 years now and I still look forward to every new AVGN episode, every year in October since 2007 you have made Monster Madness which has now become the most cherished Halloween tradition I have and my favorite moment of the year. Now every Monday we get to spend time with you and Mike and escape into one of your videos. With the countless other things you’ve done, the Thank You goes to YOU. Thank you James and Thank You Mike. From a forever dedicated fan.
April 9, 2014 at 1:38 am
You’re welcome as always, and we thank you for providing countless hours of free online entertainment. I’m more than happy to watch an ad before one of your videos because your material is for the ages, be it the AVGN or Board James, movie reviews or short series I’m always entertained well above any other level of any youtuber, etc. Even if the DVD of your movie will cost me 30 $ (not saying it will because I don’t know what the final price tag will be) I’ll gladly buy it to support your fantastic and passionate work. You never did out of greed when you were able to make money out of it, you did it for the right reason and that’s very commendable.
April 10, 2014 at 1:00 pm
You’re of course very welcome, James. It’s great to see a situation where there is as much appreciation from the entertainer to the fans, as the fans have for the entertainer. Good stuff. Enjoyed the post.
May 28, 2014 at 2:33 pm

July 30, 2014 at 11:23 am
Angry Videogame Nerd aka James I think you’re a borderline hoarder or a full blown hoarder with all those games not just for Nintendo but for Sega and Sega CD etc. Do you really play them? By the way the Ninja Turtles game for the NES wasnt and isnt that freakin hard
January 13, 2015 at 6:03 pm
Would love if you could do a tour of all your homes :3
January 18, 2015 at 1:44 am
