Mike Matei / December 23rd, 2013
To clarify my babbling:
In our lifetime, Godzilla movies released in the states, in theaters:
Godizlla 1998 (the shitty American one)
December 23, 2013 at 12:11 am
A good Godzilla game? FIRST!!
December 23, 2013 at 1:56 am
December 23, 2013 at 7:11 am
No, it’s not the first good Gojira game.
December 23, 2013 at 8:10 am
Actually pretty fucking horrible. About 5 years ago, i bought this game.I was a HUGE Godzilla fan and watched all of James’ Godzillathon, it was what brought me to be a fan of Cinemassacre. I would try my hardest every week going to the library and trying to find a Godzilla film, sadly; they were rare as they are always taken. Not being able to watch all of the films I was led to play Godzilla Unleashed on PS2, on the box it showed Gigan in the Final Wars look, new monsters, King Ceaser (not 100% of the name) and 3 different types of Godzilla. Too fucking bad that all of that was on the Nintendo Wii version of Godzilla Unleashed and not the PS2. Why have the same box of the Nintendo Wii game on the PS2 version!? It’s just tricking people like me into thinking that it has all of this when it really doesn’t, it just bloody flips you off and says “fuck you, you think you have these monsters? Well, go buy a fucking nintendo wii you little shit!” The game was entertaining… For the first few weeks. Storymode was like 30 minutes long! That’s unfor-fucking-givable.
December 23, 2013 at 8:17 am
King of went on an “Angry Video Game Nerd rant” right there but thats what you start to say when horrible games like these come back to haunt you. Control was cryptic, not clear enough instructions, no attack combination lists, not enough monsters, not long enough and slow as controls. I just used cheat combinations to unlock everything, didn’t want to waste my life playing the 30 minute story mode over and over getting money to unlock all of the characters and maps. I can go on a huge rant about this, maybe even make an “Angry Video Game Nerd” video about it, but I think I’ll stop before I get out of control 😛

my neighbor’s mother makes $79 an hour on the internet. She has been out of a job for six months but last month her check was $16733 just working on the internet for a few hours. try this site… http://cpl.pw/OKeIJo
December 23, 2013 at 12:13 am
Looks like I chose a good time to rewatch the Christmas Wishlist videos. 😀
December 23, 2013 at 12:22 am
Awww yeah! I’ve been waiting for you to play this game for real ever since I saw your Godzilla AVGN episode. 😀
December 23, 2013 at 12:47 am
Ahh I love watching the AVGN Godzilla episode on Nico Nico Douga, your japanese fans surely must feel warm inside.
December 23, 2013 at 12:42 am
“Godzilla is back.” Amen to that James.
December 23, 2013 at 12:43 am
Cool! I’m not a big fan of Godzilla, but this was really cool. I plan to go see the new one.
December 23, 2013 at 12:49 am
Great video guys. Incase you’re curious, there’s a Hammer Horror Film set that came out in Australia recently. It has a very odd film listing though. You’d expect them to have all of the Dracula and Frankenstein films but they only have a handful. Instead of the true classics they have The Mummy’s Shroud and one of the Quatermass movies. Bizarre set. Though i’ll link it if you guys are interested. http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/horror-thriller/hammer-horror-collection-blu-ray/693335
December 23, 2013 at 12:55 am
I think that new Godzilla movie is gonna rock, mainly because I know for a fact that not only is he gonna have another monster to fight, but he’ll actually have 2 to fight. It’s rare to see him go into a 2 on 1 fight like that were he’s fighting 2 monsters with no alleys.
What I’m really excited for is the possiblity of a crossover between the new Godzilla movie, and Pacific Rim. That may sound like a streatch but to be honest, we are already half way there. Del Toro and the director of the Godzilla reboot both wanna do it.
December 23, 2013 at 1:09 am
I wish they would make a new Godzilla game like Melee or Unleashed. Would love to play it online myself. As for the movie, mixed feelings. I love the modern look of Godzilla. As a fan, I don’t like it as much as the classic look, but it’s still super cool. It looks like Godzilla will also be a tougher s.o.b. As for the negatives:
– Looks like it might be a bit overproduced. It seems like there’s too much shit flying around. Too much like a Bay flick. It’s just such a cliche for a CGI heavy movie to have. Bunch of dust and shit all over the place. I really hope they don’t plan on keeping Godzilla in a cloud of dust.
– I know it’s just a trailer, but I can’t help but question why there are paratroopers going into an already destroyed city. What are they gonna do against Godzilla? Then it hit me. The fucking eggs from the American remake. It’d suck hard if this was a remake of a remake.
– Doesn’t seem like there will be any practical effects. Which is a shame. I always wanted to see that huge hollywood budget combined with a big Godzilla movie. I hope Godzilla legit crashes into a real handcrafted building prop. CGI + practical effects = great in my opinion.
December 23, 2013 at 1:18 am
Also, a complet set of the old West Batman series would be awesome. I’d legit buy that on day one.
December 23, 2013 at 1:44 am
don’t forget to mastuarbate
December 23, 2013 at 2:30 am
I’m in the same boat as you guys. I often see people bashing on Final Wars and I dont get it. I loved that movie, I think its one of the best godzilla films. I love how don frye is such a badass he doesnt even have to speak japanese in the film
December 23, 2013 at 3:37 am
James, the “Family Matters” seasons are still getting released on DVD…just very slowly (like one season per year). Season 4 is due out in early February according to Amazon.
As for all the Godzilla movies being released to blu-ray…I think the perfect time for them to do that would be to coincide with the release of the new movie. If they don’t release them then, I don’t know when they would ever do it.
December 23, 2013 at 3:44 am
You guys are obviously high as fuck…
December 23, 2013 at 3:56 am
I won’t say it but I am. Btw nice Godzilla trailer review lol.
December 23, 2013 at 4:03 am
James and Mike should have gotten the Wii version, which has more characters and better graphics (albeit with a dumber health bar system).
December 23, 2013 at 4:41 am
December 23, 2013 at 5:02 am
This was really cool and i am excited too for the new Gojira movie, but this blip video player sucks balls.
I don’t know if it’s because they don’t support specifically for my country, Italy, but it takes like 1 hour to load a 20 minute video, use the new blip player… pleeeeaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeee. Thank you.
December 23, 2013 at 5:03 am
I totally agree with James and Mike Gdzilla vs Gamera.
December 23, 2013 at 5:38 am
I have Sam&Max and Parker Lewis season 1,2 from Shout Factory. They should release season 3 of Parker Lewis, they are really awesome at Shout Factory!
December 23, 2013 at 6:22 am
I can’t understand prices like 17,46 or 21,83. Why not 17,49 or 21,99 (not to mention that it will be really nice if prices will end on 5 or 0)?
I mean: are prices in US always like that?
December 23, 2013 at 9:04 am
They probably took off a percentage and didn’t bother rounding it up or down when they got the price after removing that percentage.
And the reason they don’t end on 5 or 0 is purely psychological. People are more prone to buy something that is 2.99 instead of 3 dollars. Just like people are more prone to buy 1.49 instead of $1.50. It just gives them an idea that they saved money, that they didn’t pay 3 dollars. Especially with larger numbers. The PS4 is $399.99 because it just looks better than $400, because people see the 3 first.
December 23, 2013 at 10:12 am
Yes, I know about this psychological marketing trick, but it’s just annoying, don’t you think?
December 23, 2013 at 6:34 am
Love the Nerd, love Board James. and I love these videos of you and MuthaFucka Mike “shooting the shit”, gabbing about movies and games and just the random hilarious bunk that comes up when you hang out with great pals. Thank you! Great entertainment.
December 23, 2013 at 6:44 am
They saw the success of Pacific Rim and figured they’d give Godzilla another whirl.. Please don’t inflict the pain again that we all felt in 1998.
December 23, 2013 at 7:03 am
You can take those stickers off with lighter fluid. Just put some on, let it sit and they will peel right off.
December 23, 2013 at 7:27 am
I hope the new godzilla film is good.. though i’ll go on record and say that i like the 1998 godzilla movie.. maybe not as a godzilla movie, but as a monster film it worked well… oh and there’s no way i’m waiting for the weather channel box set, cause i’m too busy waiting for the best of CNN news box set bluray 😀
December 23, 2013 at 8:23 am
My biggest gripe with Netflix over DVD/Blueray is the lack of extra content! I need my commentary tracks, damn it! My deleted scenes! The Making Ofs!
December 23, 2013 at 8:40 am
James wearing an Atari E.T shirt lol xD
Great video, I love how you guys suddenly get off track towards the end 🙂
December 23, 2013 at 9:30 am
It’s Jesse and the Rippers. Not Jesse and the Heartbreakers.
December 23, 2013 at 9:58 am
A loved this game back, need to find me a new copy.
James, Mike if you guys want a Transformers movie with no humans watch the Transformers prime(the newest animated series, it’s called Transformers Prime Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising, you need to know about the new series to understand everything going on the movie but is a great movie.
The 60’s batman dosen’t have a DVD release yet because Fox and Warner can’t come to an agreement.
By the way one awesome Godzilla game is on the GBA called, Godzilla Domination!. It’s a fighting game that plays like King of The Monsters.
December 23, 2013 at 10:47 am
I am sure its not going to happen, but i hope the new Godzilla is rated R and a bit violent. Lets just go all out with this, lets fucking destroy and slaughter. If they are going to go the route of making Godzilla the “big bad” then they should just get nutty violent and over the top with it. Lets see people burning to death from his fire, lets see families turned to bloody smears, lets see soldiers losing their minds and blasting crowds of civilians in terror. Lets make it a real, honest to God, horrific vision of a giant unstoppable abomination wrecking humanity. He is a giant monster, a harbinger of nightmares and unspeakable, impossible destruction that is all but impervious to anything man can throw at him. Go all out with it. Make us cringe, make us hate that giant lizard, and when he finally succumbs at the end (if he does, who says he has to?) let show in gory detail hols blown in his hide, furrows of blood running down the streets and drowning people, as the monster is torn apart. When was the last time you saw a movie where at the end, when the bad guy went down, people in the theater WHOOPED and FUCK YEAH’D!!!! out loud without realizing they were doing it aloud. Thats what i want.
December 23, 2013 at 11:40 am
I just saw the trailer yesterday, it looked awesome, can’t wait. I like your ET shirt.
December 23, 2013 at 11:44 am
please do a review of Pacific Rim James. Also, i remember getting this game hoping to play as Biolante, King Ceaser, the original Mecha-Godzilla only to find out that was only for the Nintendo Wii! It was a great game none the less
December 23, 2013 at 12:00 pm
Bottom line: Godzilla’s 1998 version should be renamed Zilla, dammit!
December 23, 2013 at 1:03 pm
The Wii Version is better
December 23, 2013 at 1:15 pm
James get Godzilla unleashed for the Wii theirs 25-30 characters the gameplay is way better and the graphics are varey good for the Wii
Godzilla vs Gamera vs King Kong that would be a grate movie
December 23, 2013 at 1:22 pm
Any love for EDF?
December 23, 2013 at 1:37 pm
I love the base idea of James and Mike Mondays. Games that are generally fun to play and even if they suck (Sonic ’06) you stay generally calm and rational.
But come on guys. You barely talked about the game itself. No commentary on the selection of characters. When you mentioned the stages you are playing, you segued into talks about other shows. Nothing about gameplay. I go back and watch even relatively recent ones like Excitebike and I don’t hear rants about releasing DVDs of Talespin.
If the game doesn’t actually interest you why are you playing it?
December 23, 2013 at 2:36 pm
you can remove the stickers and clean the glue with some WD-40 🙂
December 23, 2013 at 2:43 pm
I’m completely psyched about the new Godzilla film. Loved Final Wars too, but that was quite some time ago now, need another one! Also, I love how you guys went completely off track at the end.
December 23, 2013 at 2:51 pm
Laughed hard at that one, you fella’s got some damn good points!! lol
December 23, 2013 at 3:09 pm
You mother fuckers are so goddamn awesome! I could listen to the two of you bullshit for hours on end. Love you guys! As always, keep up the good work. Very entertaining.
December 23, 2013 at 4:17 pm
I am glad you guys mentioned Shout Factory on this episode. Those guys don’t get noticed too much (I may be wrong).
Seriously though, I kind of want to see all these new movies whenever I got time, including Godzilla 2014!
December 23, 2013 at 5:49 pm
This is one of my favorite James & Mike Mondays. Not for the game but just for the discussion. I demand TV Guide Channel on blu ray!
December 23, 2013 at 6:16 pm
Save the Earth is my personal favorite
December 23, 2013 at 6:45 pm
It would have been nice if you guys talked about the game you were playing, and not spend the entire 19 minutes talking about the Godzilla franchise.
December 23, 2013 at 7:10 pm
Is James wearing a… E.T shirt…?
December 23, 2013 at 7:20 pm
Love the videos don’t get me wrong, but when are you going to address the horrible audio quality? I always have to turn up my volume up all the way to hear everything you guys are saying.
December 23, 2013 at 8:50 pm
It’s kinda sad how some shows still don’t have full DVD releases, or even any video release at all.
Inspector Gadget finally got a full release last October with the “Inspector Gadget Megaset”. This was after Shout Factory released the first 22 episodes, gave up, handed the series to 20th Century Fox who released a few random eps in no particular order before ALSO giving up, then passing the series to New Video Group who finally did it right.
I’ve heard that the video quality leaves something to be desired, and they don’t have the cool extras from the original Shout release, but most people are just happy enough to have the full series in any form.
December 23, 2013 at 8:59 pm
Oh, no, they say he’s got to go
Go go Godzilla
Oh, no, there goes Tokyo
Go go Godzilla
December 23, 2013 at 9:01 pm
Hey guys, “Forever” is a Beach Boys song originally, written by the drummer Dennis Wilson. Also, the Full House band is called Jesse and the Rippers! FER SHAME, lol!
December 23, 2013 at 9:25 pm
OK, James and Mike I think I am going to make your day with regards to full house reunion…kinda
On another note… I have every episode of family matters on dvd. I bought it online. Its one of those unofficial DVDs that someone made based on episodes recorded off tv. It’s awesome! A couple of old commercials even made it in that they forgot to edit out! haha
December 23, 2013 at 10:49 pm
Great video guys, i’m loving these james and mike mondays! btw idk if u gys know but they realesed a box set with a bunch of hammer horror and suspense classics. its only on region 2 DVD cuz of rights and stuff like u guys said. its $200 and i got it 2 years ago on my birthday and absalutly love it i dont have a region 2 dvd player but my computer runs it fine. It is so worth the $200!
December 23, 2013 at 11:03 pm
Second listing for Godzilla in the description is spelled wrong fyi. Great video mike keep up the good work =
December 23, 2013 at 11:05 pm
This may have already been mentioned, but I believe Toho has the Japanese distribution rights to the new Godzilla film.
December 23, 2013 at 11:25 pm
Here you go. xD
It’s not in HD, but yep. LOL!
December 24, 2013 at 2:58 am
My dream Godzilla movie would be Godzilla vs Cthulhu.
December 24, 2013 at 7:13 am
I fucking loved how they changed to so many subjects that wasn’t Godzilla.
Seriously, not being ironical in here. Please do not cut that out from the next videos.
December 24, 2013 at 11:25 am
I love you guys, happy holidays
December 24, 2013 at 12:05 pm
Oh, James, this t-shirt… eew…
Nice to hear that you guys are finally talking about upcoming Godzilla movie. Long live to the king of the monsters!
December 24, 2013 at 12:40 pm
Your reproducer is shit
December 25, 2013 at 1:46 am
War of the Monsters is the best ps2 monster fihgting game, fantastic game. You should have played that.
December 25, 2013 at 8:46 am
Sadly the 1998 Godzilla film wasn’t even meant to be titles Godzilla. Its originally intent was to be called zilla and pay tribute to the Godzilla series but marketing thought they would get more money if they titles and advertised it as Godzilla.
Sadly this was quite an epic film filled with the ingredients that would sustain it as an American type parody of Asian films, its only flaw was its title and marketing that failed it in the end.
December 25, 2013 at 7:08 pm
You mention the idea of a remake of King Kong vs Godzilla, James–Toho was, according to one tidbit I found, considering that idea around 1992 for their 60th birthday, but found that the rights to King Kong were too expensive, and after PJ’s remake that probably hasn’t changed. Would be awesome to see, but probably never going to happen unfortunately.
December 26, 2013 at 9:34 am
what fucking random prices….. who carries 46 or 83 cents? You know that was before debit cards became so norm
December 27, 2013 at 12:01 am
It’d be hilarious if someone counted the time they actually spent talking about the game instead of derailing into some bizarre vaguely related tangent. That’s not a criticism by the way. I love these videos where James and Mike just sit back and geek out for half an hour!
December 27, 2013 at 12:33 am
LOL, what was this video for again?..Oh right Godzilla. I think James & Mike got way too high for this one. JESSE AND THE HEARTBREAKERS??!!?!?? Come on James it’s JESSE AND THE RIPPERS!!!
December 27, 2013 at 11:07 pm
Great video; yeah, I heard that this company is restoring old news broadcasts and transferring all of them to disk, but the process is so long it may take up to 2 years.
December 28, 2013 at 2:27 am
I would so listen to a james and mike podcast. i could listen to you guys come up with random shit for hours
December 28, 2013 at 4:03 am
Seeing that you are in a Godzilla mood you should make a “Board James” review of “King of Tokyo”, its a great game and if you havent seen it I bet you’re gona love it
December 29, 2013 at 2:48 am
i always played king of the monster on the sega mega drive.
but this looks kinda fun to:P
December 29, 2013 at 10:40 am
goes both ways like a bisexual
December 29, 2013 at 11:05 am
when I wa little a kd at my daycare had all the Godzilla movies every Friday we would watch them
December 29, 2013 at 9:12 pm
James, it just occurred to me that you guys could check out the animated series that continued from the 1998 American Zilla flick; I share your opinion on that film, but the series itself is actually pretty fun, and actually had other monsters for the new Zilla to fight, some of which were surprisingly bad-ass. Hell, they even had a three-partner that was basically a remake of ‘Destroy all Monsters’. And they finally had Zilla breathe fire (sorta).
December 31, 2013 at 10:23 pm
Godzilla 1998 was a descent movie, but it just didn’t have THE Godzilla material nor THE Godzilla.
January 1, 2014 at 2:27 am
This is a possible guess, that Shout Factory will release Godzilla 1985 on DVD & Blu-ray in a collector’s edition set with both the original Japanese version and American Version but I saw Godzilla VS Biollante on DVD from echo bridge home entertainment and it was cool it retains video quality transfers from the 2009 blu-ray from Toho in japan. As I was expecting shitty quality from the HBO Video VHS quality back in 1992, there were special features in the DVD the making of the film, behind the design, options for the setups, Audios: Japanese 5.1 Audio, Japanese 2.0 Audio, English Dub 1.0 Audio (HK
English Dub used on the Toho’s English version would be used on the HBO Video VHS). Subtitles: English Sub #1 Screen text , English Sub #2 matches from the original Japanese Audio, English Sub #3 matches from the HK English Dub. But i am kind of a expert of Godzilla Infos, but as though I saw on the Netflix website is Godzilla VS Biollante but they have it but when do they have it on streaming, have it pay for amazon instant video or YouTube. But it did not had a chance to be involved in it.
January 1, 2014 at 2:39 am
I remember Godzilla 1985, I heard the razzie award nominated Raymond Burr as worst actor but when I saw him in the film he was not worst in the film, as though Burr returns his character as Steve Martin ( a reporter from the 1956 version of Gojira in the U.S), but back in 1956 Steve Martin (Comedian) was not exist until 1985 that Steve Martin was existing as they refer him as Mr. Martin.
Before that, But Back in 1983 Halloween H20 Director Steve Miner had his idea of doing a remake of Godzilla but when his ideas were approached to Toho, so they let him to do it, but when Warner Bros (The company was first involved on Godzilla raids again’s U.S Release, then 2nd involvement is the American 2014 reboot) wanted to do Miner’s ideas but it was too expensive, years later until 1989 Sony Pictures acquired the rights to do a remake of the original 1954 film and later announced it in 1992, a teaser trailer was released in 1994, Sony had Stan Winston doing the Godzilla model, Sony wanted Jean De Bont (Director Of Speed) to direct the film but declined it because of the film’s budget. As years delaying until 1998 (the worst year with remake craze except for Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker’s Rush Hour it was great, never mind I’m off topic), Roland Emmerich was attached as director and Dean Devlin as Writer, but released in 1998 with CGI graphics but the monster looks bad, I liked it as a kid but now it looks worst. As years my first Godzilla movie I saw was on SC-FI Channel was in black & white but I don’t remember the title but I will say my first Godzilla movie I watched was Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla (1974) on DVD by Sony Pictures.
January 1, 2014 at 2:41 am
If I don’t remember the Godzilla film I watched as a kid, but my first color Godzilla film was Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla.
January 1, 2014 at 9:27 pm
When you guys speak about a movie with ALL the monsters. This Year (or 1-2 years ago in Japan), Power Rangers is going to have one of those season where they show of EVERY POWER RANGER for the 20 years the show has been running. It’s like a great war where every one of them are fighting (but the story focus on a few of them).
What i want to say this, a Godzilla movie like that would be doable.
January 2, 2014 at 1:30 pm
Way to tease us with the ET shirt. You’ll do it someday, I know it…
January 5, 2014 at 3:15 pm
his entire movie is about the E.T. Game (according to the trailer) so he is going to do the E.T. Review at the end of the movie (mabye)
January 5, 2014 at 7:45 am
Nice T shirt james! Where did you get it from?
January 5, 2014 at 3:13 pm
all i got out of that was James and Mike talking about movies XD
January 9, 2014 at 1:35 pm
Another group of seasons that need to be relaesed in a box set is the old dr. who serieses, and they need to finish releasing the king of the hill seasons.
January 10, 2014 at 3:13 am
Wreck the Tanner family home! I think that a Transformers game done like one of these types of games could be cool… Thanks for the video, gentlemen!
January 13, 2014 at 8:45 pm
Great video, guys. And man, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood – that show will always hold a special place in my heart, even if it’s not quite up there with my favorites. And the Prevue Channel – man! I remember the Prevue Channel. (8)Gimme the Prevue Channel, ’cause I don’t wanna get the ‘what-to-choose blues…'(8) Vintage, man… And at 8:50, Mike makes a point I totally agree with, even though I’m not a big Godzilla fan. He said that even if the new movie wasn’t good, he would still be happy. Myself, being a big Animaniacs fan, if Warner Bros. would corroborate with Steven Spielberg, and they get all the old voice actors back, bring back the music and the antics and everything that made Animaniacs great, I wouldn’t care if it’s as good as the old show…I’d fuckin’ love it if Animaniacs came back, no matter what any critics would say.
January 13, 2014 at 8:48 pm
Oh, and for things that aren’t yet on DVD….why haven’t they still released the Animaniacs movie – Wakko’s Wish – on DVD? Hope it happens sometime…seriously.
January 23, 2014 at 7:16 pm
Every time it buffers it just restarts, and this is getting annoying.
January 26, 2014 at 9:00 am
Game looks fun. I have the one for Gamecube and its a blast. Fun discussion, too! I can’t wait for the new Godzilla movie! And LOL WEATHER CHANNEL BOX SET!
January 29, 2014 at 5:35 pm
You mentioned that there’s a decent Gamera collection out in the States. What is it called?
February 5, 2014 at 8:11 am
I just can’t wait until May because of the new godzilla movie!
February 26, 2014 at 6:44 pm
I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT FUCKING OPTIMUS PRIME!!! CUT IT OUT!!
LMAO Mikes crazy.
May 28, 2014 at 1:48 pm
