Hey James, what do you think of the new Godzilla teaser trailer for the 2014 reboot
October 18, 2013 at 7:55 am
I’m not James but i don’t trust that as a reboot since an american production is involved.
That’s why i don’t think they will use much props but too much CG, that’s what americans do since they discovered it. And it sucks.
October 18, 2013 at 12:41 pm
Wow, have a little faith. The guys in charge of Godzilla 2014 are huge fans of the series who want to do it right, not make a quick buck like the team behind the 1998 one. Who cares if it’s CGI? It’s the 2010s now. Nobody uses props and costumes anymore because for giant monsters it’s impossible to make them realistic enough. It’s all CGI no matter what country it’s from.
October 19, 2013 at 1:00 am
@Dr. Breakfastmachine James has addressed this many times, he still believes that animatronics, puppets etc are better than CGI in most cases take the T-Rex in Jurassic Park for example, It is an animatronic.
October 19, 2013 at 1:42 am
Good news, the Brits are making this one. And if you’re worried at all, check out the director’s first film ‘Monsters.’ Its on Netflix, if that helps…
Its really very good. So much so that I can’t wait to see what he does with Godzilla. In any case, the film is in good hands 🙂
October 19, 2013 at 2:03 pm
Usually when the brits are part of something, it turns out to be good. Ex. Doctor Who, Sherlock, the Hammer Films, and tons of other great movies and tv shows.
October 20, 2013 at 6:17 am
Not all countries fill their movies with CGI or even commonly use CGI.
November 27, 2013 at 7:24 pm
Still wouldn’t be bad to see his thoughts.
October 18, 2013 at 4:40 am
these movies are way too weird i need to get these
October 18, 2013 at 5:08 am
Bad ass video James! No I didn’t expect Gamera to go head to head with a star destroyer
October 18, 2013 at 5:11 am
MST3K introduced me to Gamera..they’re all so great. Great video James, love your Halloween work!
October 18, 2013 at 5:17 am
GO GAMERA GO I LOVE MONSTER FIGHTS!
October 18, 2013 at 5:46 am
Nice to see they got the title right!
It’s a good movie in my opinion, at least worth watching during a Gamera-a-thon!
Go, Go Gamera!
October 18, 2013 at 5:51 am
Great Video James!
October 18, 2013 at 6:26 am
Didn’t know about GAMERa before this series, very interesting information. Great job.
October 18, 2013 at 6:29 am
I registred for one reason: I need to know from which movie this two headed monster in the intro is! I can’t find it anywhere. It also was on an earliere monster madness. I would appreciate any help.
October 18, 2013 at 7:11 am
It’s from the third Evil Dead movie; Army of Darkness.
October 18, 2013 at 12:19 pm
cool thanks 😀
October 18, 2013 at 6:50 am
All the other “ZIG-ras”?
Would that be anything like the one in this film who is ZEE-GOO-RA?
(Japanese sound JEE-GOO-RA)
October 18, 2013 at 6:53 am
That’s too bad that the original series had to go out with a whimper like that…but you’re right, James. Most franchises that last as long as 7 films usually are pretty tired by that point. Even the Godzilla films had a few stinkers after a while.
October 18, 2013 at 6:58 am
Also disappointed that each of the hokey Gamera films got a review each, but the best Kaiju trilogy, the Gamera 90’s reboot is only getting one combined.
October 18, 2013 at 7:32 am
GROOVY ! I LOVE GAMERA !!!!
October 18, 2013 at 9:00 am
The top of the space ship really looks like a ball pit, doesn’t it? These designs are so weird.
October 18, 2013 at 9:47 am
another great review thanks!!
October 18, 2013 at 10:58 am
While I love monster madness, I am not a fan of monster movies like Godzilla and Gamera… I appreciate their role in cinema but hate when you review them. Obviously this is my own opinion but everything else you review is great and even the movies I don’t like so much I can’t wait each day to see the review. Great work.
October 18, 2013 at 12:04 pm
Please play the SNES game Gamera Gyaosu Gekimetsu Sakusen.
October 18, 2013 at 12:34 pm
Not only is Gamera: The Super Monster the worst Gamera movie, it’s also one of the worst movies ever made period. James forgot to mention the scene where Gamera flies past the (animated) ship from Star Blazers. Also, they apparently didn’t have enough money to do proper optically processed blue screen shots, so all of those kinds of scenes were shot on video using a chromakey effect, then transferred to film. Every time there’s a blue screen shot, the picture quality goes way down; it looks like something from a Sid and Marty Krofft production.
October 18, 2013 at 1:26 pm
Am I the only one who is fucking tired of watching the “I love boobies” ad? Ugh.
October 18, 2013 at 2:10 pm
lol Zigra xylophone.
October 18, 2013 at 3:04 pm
Great video James! Can’t wait for tomorrow!
October 18, 2013 at 3:36 pm
what else can I say? great review James, looking forward to tomorrow’s Gamera reboots. as far as this film goes, it looks kind of…meh. the first 5 films to me looked creative and interesting. the last 2 seems to run out of creativity or interest. hopefully the reboots will be similar to the Heisei Godzilla films which are my personal favorites. I’ll have to wait and see.
October 18, 2013 at 3:41 pm
hey you know what whould be awesome
Godzilla vs gamera
October 18, 2013 at 4:50 pm
I don’t think this can happen unless one studio buys the other… It’s kinda like Mario vs Sonic, it was unthinkable until Sega was bought.
October 18, 2013 at 4:48 pm
The 1980 film was recently reviewed here in France in a show called (translated) ‘Welcome to Nanarland’. It’s incredibly goofy and I think it would have deserved its own video – it’s kinda like the Batman and Robin of the Gamera series.
BTW ‘nanar’ is a french word for ‘a film that’s so bad it’s good’. I love that we have a word for that 🙂
October 18, 2013 at 5:41 pm
This is only Gamera film that never made it into the US, but not on any NYC TV station that ran these monster films every week. AIP produced many Gamera films in the US that were distributed for TV back in the 60’s and 70’s, but not this one. The last one he did was “Gamera: Super Monster” which was a ripoff of “Superman” and “Star Wars”. This was first aired on WNEW-TV (channel 5) back in 1986 as part “Drive-In Movie” during late of its run. “Gamera Vs. Ziger” was first issued on VHS by Just for Kids back in the 80’s long after this film never aired on local NYC TV.
October 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm
Here’s all the dialogue spoken by kids in these movies:
“GAMERA! GAMERA! GAMERA! HEY, IT’S GAMERA!! LOOK! GAMERA! GAMERA! HEY, GAMERA! GAMERA!!”
October 18, 2013 at 8:13 pm
LOVE IT BEEN A FAN OF MONSTER MADNESS FROM THE START
October 18, 2013 at 8:31 pm
Leaving my first message just to say thank you for these videos. I’ve been following you on YouTube for a while now, but just recently took a peek at your site and, wow, it is amazing! I was never a big fan of giant monster movies, but your coverage of Gamera, the whole Godzilla-thon and a few isolated giant monster movie reviews you made actually got me pretty interested in watching them. There are also some great b-/c-/z-movies you talked about I wasn’t aware of and now I have a whole list of films to buy. So, sorry for the WALLOFTEXT, and thanks, once again.
October 18, 2013 at 9:14 pm
USE THE FORCE, GAMERA
October 18, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Nice review James.
I got to say though, I’ll be glad when you move onto the next series.
October 18, 2013 at 9:40 pm
On tje “Godzilla” sign was written ドジラ, instead of ゴジラ. That means “Dojira”, or “Dodzilla” xD
October 18, 2013 at 10:01 pm
I was going to say that.
It says “Dojira”. But since “Gojira” isn’t Godzilla anyway, you could see it as “Dogzilla”. 😀
It actually says さらば ドジラ, which is “Farewell, Dojira.”
October 18, 2013 at 9:54 pm
Please no more Gamera movies James! They are so boring! Show some horror movies!
October 18, 2013 at 10:07 pm
I find Gamera movies awesome, please reviewe them all. That xilofono play was funny.
October 18, 2013 at 11:42 pm
Is there any reason why all these Gamera movies have a one Japanese and one caucasian kid in them? Was it just a subtle attempt to appeal to western audiences?
October 18, 2013 at 11:43 pm
Can we please not do Gamera movies for the rest of the month?
October 18, 2013 at 11:52 pm
Can someone please settle a debate for me? Who is saying “It’s Cinnemassacre’s Monster Madness.” Is it James or Mike? To me it seriously sounds like Mike but my boyfriend keeps saying its James. I really want to know! XD

October 19, 2013 at 12:48 am
The highlight to this one is easily that girl in the bikini and then when she is in the skirt chasing the kids. Other than that, this is kind of a light on the action Gamera film.
October 19, 2013 at 12:51 am
October 19, 2013 at 4:17 am
I never noticed until now, Gamera is a really imaginative variation of Godzilla’s best pal Anguirus. That’s brilliant; it’s like they’re ripping off Godzilla, but not really.
October 19, 2013 at 12:17 pm
you didn’t mention gamera dying in gamera super monster
October 20, 2013 at 6:13 pm
Great sequel set! Until you did this video, I didn’t really bump into Gamera when I was kid (or at all really until watching this series.) I think I might’ve saw a Gamera movie once, that or Godzilla fought a very similar monster. Keep Up the Great Work James!
October 20, 2013 at 9:55 pm
4:18 Yeah, play that monster like an xilophone!
October 22, 2013 at 9:06 pm
That’s too bad about the movie being “tired”, as you said. The alien girl is cute, and the monster design for Zigra is cool, plus you’ve got your monster fights with silly moments, but that’s about it, and it doesn’t stand out, as you said. That next movie is mostly clip show, but it seems like fun, nonetheless. I do find it funny that they took a shot at Godzilla with Gamera knocking down one of his movie posters, but if we have to be honest, Godzilla is far superior to Gamera, as far as the movies go. I look forward to your review of the Gamera next gen/reboots/whatever they are.
October 24, 2013 at 12:35 pm
yo dude,u have so many chinese fans u know that? we call u 喷神James(try to google it).u better do some video that have chinese subtitles.cuz i really like u,asshole.
October 24, 2013 at 1:16 pm
When Gamera plays Zigra’s back like a xylophone, he strikes the same part twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones. I mean, what are we to believe, that this is some sort of a magic xylophone or something? Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
October 28, 2013 at 3:12 am
Gamera fun time! MST3K worthy!
October 31, 2013 at 10:10 pm
This is such a cool thing he’s doing! I hope he does it next year.
November 7, 2013 at 1:03 am
The little girl in the beginning with the little boy on the boat is so cute 😛 Anyways, great review James, the Zigra monster looks very ‘eh’ but i’m just as shocked as you when ”Gamera Super Monster” had a poster of Godzilla in it
November 14, 2013 at 8:22 am
3:24…please tell me im not the only one who sees some 69 action going on there 😀
May 6, 2014 at 6:48 pm
I know your creative but how did you make that building in the intro?
October 19, 2014 at 4:28 pm
Love me some giant turtle
