Maybe first, maybe second, i dont care. Greetings from Athens, Greece and happy halloween to all
October 17, 2013 at 5:09 pm
yay, someone who got first and had something to say other than first!
October 18, 2013 at 1:35 am
If you really didn’t care, you wouldn’t have mentioned it at all, you know.
October 22, 2013 at 5:32 am
It’s not about getting first, it’s about sending a message
October 17, 2013 at 3:44 am
Great as always, can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings!
October 17, 2013 at 3:55 am
Great vid james!
October 17, 2013 at 4:00 am

October 17, 2013 at 4:38 am
Go to 52:30!
October 17, 2013 at 10:59 am
That’s fucking gross.
October 17, 2013 at 8:48 pm
I thought the elephant video was gonna be way more gross
October 17, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Same, thought it would be more gross. But given this day in age of our technology for special effects in movies and TV we have seen a lot worse, hell even during the 1980’s era of movie effects were just as graphical.
Guess James didn’t show it because he wanted us to go find and watch it ourselves.
October 18, 2013 at 1:11 am
That’s pretty clearly fake, you can see that it’s something they a slide some sort of rubber thing onto an elephant’s trunk. Look below the lump and it’s pretty obvious were the rubber or whatever meets the real trunk. And the guy is rubbing the top of were the fake lump is to hide the line (his hand is over it the entire time) It hides well because it’s in B/W. When they cut into it, it looks like a the whole shown trunk is fake. The ‘larvae’ aren’t moving, and really just look like spaghetti in sauce or other viscous fluid. So in fact, I think this is an incredibly awesome practical effect that’s looks way better then some crap we see today!
October 20, 2013 at 6:09 pm
The reaction of the people in the movie when watching the surgery clip is hilarious. James could have spliced that in right after he said that it was gross.

compared to stuff like 2 girls 1 cup or 1 man 1 screwdriver, its pretty tame
October 17, 2013 at 4:01 am
These MONSTER FIGHTS get better and better.
October 17, 2013 at 4:29 am
October 18, 2013 at 7:44 pm
What’s funny is that the death ray you mentioned was pretty much copied by Toho for Hedorah the next year.
October 17, 2013 at 4:54 am
Yeah I agree with you in cutting out the segment with the elephant getting its trunk slit open. I don’t need to see that. X_X But man, I love the ending of this year’s Monster Madness: A Haunted House, a Jack-O-Lantern, and a Skull. Badass Halloween 101. =D
October 17, 2013 at 5:10 am
man, another monster with a similar connection with Pacific Rim. while this monster is called Jiger, Pacific Rim has giant robots called Jaeger’s. yeah, this one doesn’t seem all that interesting. I think this is the first of the Gamera films that doesn’t seem all that interesting. overall, nicely done James. I can’t wait to see more.
October 17, 2013 at 7:00 am
Thanks guys, looking forward to Big G vs. Zigra to finish out the series!
October 17, 2013 at 7:24 am
James, THANK YOU for not showing the larvae spilling out of the elephant’s trunk. I was eating breakfast while watching this review, and thanks to your good judgement, I won’t be puking it back up this morning. 😀
October 17, 2013 at 8:55 am
What about the Gamera fun scene :0)
October 17, 2013 at 9:38 am
October 17, 2013 at 10:30 am
“All we need now is to see a monster take a shit!”
James hasn’t seen Pacific Rim yet I take it…
October 17, 2013 at 2:16 pm
I know. it’s strange that a guy who loves to watch monster movies somehow didn’t see this years biggest monster movie. I don’t think the AVGN film is an excuse because he’s been active on the site at his own pace. and if his movie was really that important, then he wouldn’t be posting any recent videos on his site. it’s not like Rob Bottin who actually worked on The Thing 24/7 for almost a year and had to be hospitalized. that’s why Stan Winston came in to help at the last minute. I appreciate James wanting to post videos, but he needs to focus his attention on his film and not get distracted if he intends to get his movie done. as for Pacific Rim, it’s on dvd & blu-ray now James so I strongly recommend you check it out and see what you’ve been missing. Godzilla is coming out next year, so I hope to god that you don’t miss out on that movie too. either way, I wish you luck with the final weeks of Monster Madness 2013.
October 18, 2013 at 7:28 am
He did actually see it. Want proof? You got it, https://twitter.com/cinemassacre/status/356836308494192642
He probably just forgot about the shit part. Or maybe he thought the movie was actally underwhelming. From what I have seen on Mike’s Twitter profile, Mike enjoyed the film but thought that he would probably forget it again soon… and I think working on the AVGN Movie and having a baby is a good enough excuse for not having talked much about the movie yet, or done a review of some kind. He will eventally do it, I’m sure of it 🙂 You’ll see…
October 17, 2013 at 11:05 am
I’ve seen that kinda tiny mustache a lot in various anime. I guess it’s just a Japanese thing. It’s a shame that one insane German guy had to screw things up and make us forever associate the mustache style with him.
October 17, 2013 at 11:26 am
But damn, I wanted to see some elephant gore! Lol.
October 17, 2013 at 12:17 pm
Thanks for not showing the larva scene, I was eating while watching the video.
And the army plane was useful once while dealing with a giant monster, the Super X 3 annihilated destroyah. So the score is Giant Monster: 35212 Army plane: 1
October 17, 2013 at 12:29 pm
As a young kid, seeing this film was actually quite terrifying. The monster itself has an scary roar, the Devil’s Whistle is a cool idea, and the idea of being impregnated with a little Jiger all added up to memorable monster movie for me. Easily my favorite Gamera film.
October 17, 2013 at 1:26 pm
I just watched this one yesterday! Off of the War of the Monsters collection. Which is basically the crappy VHS transfer, and that whole scene with the parasites in the elephant trunk is there!
October 17, 2013 at 1:45 pm
It looks like Jiger is only pissed because she just woke up and everyone’s trying to kill her.
October 17, 2013 at 2:13 pm
I love Gamera. Great reviews
October 17, 2013 at 2:15 pm
poop. that larva in the elephants tusk is already disgusting, but they had to slit it open ON CAMERA (for a film .0000000000% of the world will ever see). goodness. like james’ said, disgusting. but I have an answer for his rhetorical question; who would want to see this? THE JAPANESE. all I know is (by word of mouth mostly, but I’ve seen a ‘few’ clips) they’ve got the weirdest, nastiest porn of any nation in our species’ history. PROBABLY (won’t say it’s a fact, could be tho’z). and so I share a link to counter that deep sickness that has lie within a part of the collective Japanese psyche for many a decade now (maybe we can blame the atomic bombings for their fetishes..). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW3MvrC2YcY glorious (yah that ain’t a link too many people on this forum will probably like all that much).
October 17, 2013 at 2:17 pm
ooops meant .0000000001(3?)%

Whats so bizzare about orchestrated music?
October 17, 2013 at 3:05 pm
I would be interested to know what is happening around 02:50 and just beyond, ‘Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.’
October 18, 2013 at 12:43 am
It’s the Gamera theme song.
October 17, 2013 at 4:31 pm
Another one not featured on MST3K, seems like they would have had plenty of fodder in this one what with Gamera shoving telephone polls in his head. This one is kind of basic, no aliens or anything, just people removing the wrong statue. The monster just looks like a modified triceratops. Still, it looks a bit interesting and I sort of do want to see that scene with the elephant out of morbid curiosity.
October 17, 2013 at 4:46 pm
Nice video James! I’m loving Monster Madness this year!
October 17, 2013 at 5:55 pm
lol the timing on these are perfect for me, I workout during the evening and when I come back home, make my coffee and sit down. There’s a new Monster Madness! Shame it has to end, these are awesome to watch!
October 17, 2013 at 8:21 pm
I think it’s funny how the King of poopy-sauce actually thought something was so gross that he wouldn’t show it in the review. That must have been one nasty scene!
October 18, 2013 at 2:42 am
October 17, 2013 at 8:36 pm
that elephant part sounds nasty so glad you didn’t show it. Great review and awesome Monster Madness.
October 18, 2013 at 2:09 am
I’m actually rather disappointed. I wish you guys would have done another sequel-a-thon with more variety. It’s nice that you’re exploring each series so deeply, but I often use Monster Madness as a catalyst for movies that I will watch during October, and I’m someone who likes variety (and I don’t like giant monster movies, so this entire week has been a waiting game for me).
Did you know, the role of Gamera was originally to go to Mumm-Ra? He was fired on the first day of shooting, when he attacked the producer’s cat.
October 19, 2013 at 7:09 am
Wait was the dad with the Hitler stache Officer Cornjob from Gamera vs Guirion?
October 20, 2013 at 9:42 pm
I love your commentary. Love to see that monster take a sh** 😛
October 20, 2013 at 9:43 pm
Are you going to do the Friday the 13th series for this year?? That would be freaking sweet, especially since you did all the Halloweens and Nightmare on Elm Street in 2011 😛
October 21, 2013 at 10:03 pm
These videos are great, reminds of the “Cinemassacre Monster Madness: Godzillathon”. I loved that series! Lol. I know the video are probably already made, but I would love for them to be longer :D! It would be great if you could make the vids longer, thanks :D!
October 22, 2013 at 12:12 pm
I want to see the Elephant trunk getting sliced open
October 22, 2013 at 8:51 pm
Nice review. It’s too bad that the movie seems to be your typical kaiji film, but it is what it is. And thank you for not showing us the elephant trunk surgery. That’s just weird and gross! I think the film makers just wanted to brag that they knew of this strange documentary that covered this really weird case. I know I’ve never heard of such a thing until now.
October 24, 2013 at 9:47 pm
it always pissed me off when an americanized version of one of these great classics changed the fuckin name.. i mean if you can’t even remember the name of the film why even bring it to the states? its an insult to the original producer..
October 30, 2013 at 9:05 am
Good lord, THE. MONSTER. X. IN. GODZILLA. FINAL. WARS. WAS. CALLED. KEISER. CHIDORAH!!!!!
November 7, 2013 at 12:51 am
I forgot to include into my comment on the last Gamera video about how funny it was when you mentioned Gamera grabbing ice and icing down his wounds. Friggin awesome!
The video reviews for the Gamera series have been so crazy! The Frankenstein series started to feel like they were all the same but this Gamera series involves him shoving telephone poles into his ears, an actual elephant’s trunk getting severed, and a monster’s epic awakening ruined by him naturally drinking water- CRAZY 😀 Keep up the great work James! [i’m still waiting on a ‘Pacific Rim’ movie review]
November 11, 2013 at 4:46 am
They just killed a baby…eh, who cares? No that was not intended to sound evil…or was it?
October 7, 2015 at 3:12 pm
This is easily the worst of the classic Gamera series. The rival monster’s not very interesting, too much science explanation stuff, and it’s just disgustingly gory.
November 5, 2015 at 4:39 am
Why are there so many horrible US/English localization choices in the horror/monster movie genre, especially Godzilla/Gamera? They literally make it WORSE almost every time consistently instead of their intended goal of making it better or more palatable to western audiences. I just imagine some arrogantly idiotic executive every time making these decisions, unable to be questioned by people “below” him who actually do know better, but he can’t admit that for his own business reputation/pride/ego. It happens.
