Cameo in music video directed by Bear McCreary

James / May 15th, 2013

I was at a party with the wildest assortment of characters and we rocked out to a 16-bit cover of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now by Young Beautiful in a Hurry, directed by Bear McCreary (Composer of Battlestar Galactica and The Walking Dead).Β See it here!

That was amazing! A shame you didn’t come in shaved but true fans still recognize you

James has a beard! nice cover but its hard to beat Queens original version. but most great bands start by doing cover songs of other bands.

LOL that’s probably the first time those kids have ever seen a Sega.

It was alright. The Nerd cameo definitely made it worth watching, but I prefer the Nerd without the beard.

I liked the cameo, and that was typically entertaining from Bear. I really didn’t care for the cover by his brother though.

He did a decent job singing but since no one can match Freddy, I almost would have preferred to hear the entire song rendered in MIDI. It seemed like perfect NES music.

Haha nice, love Aaron Douglas(Chief Tyrol!!!!) of BSG fame in the video…awesome James!

There you see that James is really at his best when he can act with facial impressions and that he doesn’t even need to talk to be funny.

I hate to sound like that guy, but not an ounce of creativity in these guys. Using graphics derrived from old video games (in some cases ripping the sprites directly) followed by covering a song that everyone has being doing karaoke to for the last 20 years already.

    • May 17, 2013 at 8:27 am

Well, it’s a tribute to old games, so its strenght is in citing recognizeable sources, not originality. So I find the fictional game pretty well done. On the other hand I agree on the song, it almost doesn’t even sounds like a cover, it’s just them performing the song. I was expecting, well, a 16 bit cover of the song. The correct title to the video should be “YBH performing Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen, with a 16-bit style video”.

i dont want to be none of those 4 kids on the couch they just look bad trying to make weird faces throughout the whole vid.

  • May 17, 2013 at 1:33 am

i thought it was gonna be a 16 bit cameo for the nerd… but the nerd’s sinister goatee’d alter ego rocking out was way better

The Nerd and The Chief together?!? Worlds are colliding!

  • May 17, 2013 at 8:12 am

I don’t get it. Where are the 16 bits in the song? It sounds just like a regular cover to me :/

Great stuff. I’ve sent Brian May a link to the video. Would be interesting to hear what he thinks. Check him out at

hah the nerd was the best part

  • May 22, 2013 at 7:10 am

That was actually a really fucking great cover and a really great music video. I had to laugh when I saw James come out because I swear he had his hands in his pockets most of the time. You’re so shy and awkward, James, that’s why I identify so much with you. πŸ˜›

Keep up the good work, and I can’t wait for the film!

That was a very good cover by someone with the talent to even attempt Freddy Mercury’s range. It’s shame the rest of the band doesn’t have some outstanding harmony to accompany, but as far as Queen goes, “there can be only one!” πŸ™‚

Awesome video! I loved the visuals, and the homage to Sonic and Sega. I even heard a bit of the Sonic 3 credits in there. Though, I think they would have been better off making the song their own instead of trying to imitate Queen. Still, it was great! Nice cameo, too!
