Dark Souls (Xbox 360) First Impressions

James / January 7th, 2013

Description: In this video, Mike Matei gives his first impressions of the Xbox 360 game Dark Souls.

Update: I finished this video a while back. I’m now in the lower level of the undead burg. Just killed some giant rat. I also killed a huge butterfly moth boss that was extremely easy. And the gargoyle fight was easy as well because I had the stone armor on. I have yet to kill the wolf with the sword.

This game reminds me of Faxandu for the nes. But i prefer adventure stradegy guide games like Legend of Zelda. But thanks for the video mike it was interesting.

I’ve beaten demon’s souls, and i played dark souls, but since i have no patience it was really hard for mee, i got up to the point where you ring the second bell and open tge hate and then i gave up, maybe i’ll try again sometime, but on a new game.
The most fucked up part was actually when i’ve beaten quilaag I got something about 40 000 souls, then i died, i tried to retrieve them, but died before i get there, and so i was 40 000 souls lighter

Very excited to see you play this, Mike! I thoroughly played through this game, as well as the first game in the series before it, Demon’s Souls (PS3 only). They’re two of my favorite games this generation, and I absolutely love the challenge they offer. It reminds me of retro games, where you really had to focus and be on top of your game to succeed.

If you enjoy Dark Souls, you should definitely give Demon’s Souls a try. These games are both just fantastic, which is probably why I played through Demon’s 7 or 8 times. I really feel that these games are something special, and stand out among new console titles as something to remember. The levels, the bosses, and the adventures you go on are really special and something I know will provide memories I’ll be sharing with fellow gamers for years to come. For me, they’ve earned a place in my personal gaming history, honorably standing next to the likes of Mario, Goldeneye, Jet Force Gemini, Streets of Rage and many other oldschool classics.

As a side note, there’s also an online ocmponent to both games where you can have other players join you as ghosts, or enter your game as phantoms to try to kill you and steal your souls; it’s crazy exciting.

I could probably go on for hours about these two games, but I’d love to know your thoughts about it further – maybe even James’s too.

    Thanks! 🙂

Interesting video Mike… Good to see you finaly found the goodness that is Dark and Demon’s Souls…

But stop putting points into Resistance RIGHT NOWWWWWW….. Wasted skill points and a build breaker right there. Resistance is useless as a stat in this game… You simply don’t need any…

    • January 8, 2013 at 4:50 pm

hahaha i think i know who you are ! as tu du feux?
Nice job mike ! And listen to James Mason he’s a master of this game!

  • James Mason

    January 7, 2013 at 5:50 am

Oh and another quick tip… You should use lock on more… Really helps with accuracy and dodging. Unlocked attacks are mostly for PVP and to attack very specific enemies. That way you keep facing enemies and you have block incoming attacks with a shield. Otherwise keep experimenting and have fun with this godly game… But no more resistance… You’re gonna regret it when you get to a higher soul level and you have 10 less pts in HP or Endurance than anyone else you meet…

Finally, if you’re interested into plot analysis once you complete the game, check this guy out… He’s like the DS community demigod :

It’s not any better on the PS3 BTW, the frame rate can be a little worse actually. Good on yah for getting the 360 version, should went for the Prepare To Die Edition though

    January 7, 2013 at 6:36 am

Hey Mike, you’re getting a lot of this wrong. Leveling is not worth much, and you should never ever have to spend time grinding. (Upgrading your equipment on the other hand is super useful)
And if you ever do need to grind (a few stats short to use a new sword you got for instance) then help someone beat a boss instead. It’s a lot faster than cheesing it in the forest, and scales with how far into the game you are.)

You might think it’s as hard as you think it is because you’re so heavy. Try to be under 25% of your equipment load (increased by leveling endurance, or by killing the dude in the tower before the first non-tutorial boss. He gives you a ring that gives you +50% equipment load. The gold guy also has a really good ring that gives you +20% every stat. The advice you’re giving here could really ruin it for a new player.

Also, as far as the consoles go, the PS3 version lags more often and worse, but it seems the 360 is more affected by the path-finding bug that makes upper Blighttown lag so much.

Also, while there is a benefit to having humanity on you, what you actually want it for is to go human and thus enable online play. Player invasions and summons. (Also some rare NPC invasions and summons). You didn’t mention the hints at all, so I’ll assume you’re playing offline, which is a damn shame. 50% of this game is PvP.

Anyway, I’m glad you’re liking it. Enjoy the game.

    • January 7, 2013 at 7:27 am

I don’t play anything online. So consider it my impressions of the game in offline mode only. Maybe it’s different with multiplayer, but I couldn’t get anywhere without leveling up. Also, I talked about upgrading your weapons & armor.

      • Doctor Tyrannosarus Rex

        January 7, 2013 at 9:52 am

I suppose I should rephrase it. The game is balanced such that you’ll get all the souls you need to level through regular play without sticking around and killing extra goons. Leveling helps a lot very early on, but after SL20 or so, you aren’t gonna notice your character getting stronger with every level. At SL80, you’re not gonna notice it even with 10 levels. When PvPing, if you’re pitted against someone SL300 at SL200, it will not feel like an disadvantage. However, that being said, leveling of course helps. I was just pointing out that the game is actually balanced for never grinding, and that gear makes a bigger difference. I know you mentioned it, but you did it in a passing comment, and I wasn’t sure if you realized how expansive the upgrading is.

As for the online: I see. That’s a shame then. I also usually don’t, unless in coop games. But this one gains a lot from going online. I’ll try to explain everything it does with online so you’ll at least know what it’s like and value if you wanna go online or not:

There will be player hints everywhere, telling you about secrets or trying to trick you into certain doom. Random players can also invade your world and try to kill you.

There are 9 “covenants” in the game, which give you a task to do online, and reward you for doing it enough times. For example killing a certain type of player, or placing really hard enemies in other player’s worlds. It adds a lot of replay value, and you stay with each covenant for a long time before getting bored.

For example, the forest where you cheese all the enemies, if you play online and enter as a human, you’ll be invaded almost instantly by a bunch of people, trying to stop you from passing, as one of the covenants is based around protecting Sif, the white wolf with the large sword. The game supports up to 12 players in a world at once, in 4 teams.

If someone else kindles a bonfire set as your respawn, you and everyone connected to it gets a free estus flask. If someone drops an item, there’s a chance of it showing up in your world. If you’re close to a bell, and someone rings it in their game, you’ll hear them.

There’s also coop, where you can summon 2 people to help you with an area or boss. This is the fastest way to get souls, which is why I mentioned it earlier, but you can’t really replay bosses without online, so nvm that.

Being human (enabling online) does also add special events to the game offline, so try to be human as much as possible even if you aren’t gonna play online.

  • Doctor Tyrannosarus Rex

    January 7, 2013 at 6:49 am

Oh, and I might as well mention this. If you like the world, you owe it to yourself to read every item, weapon and armor description. The lore is really well thought out and super fun to puzzle together.

  • January 7, 2013 at 6:53 am

The sword called Zweihander actually just means two handed sword and is composed of the German words for two (= Zwei) and Hand (= guess what, Hand).

The Japanese have an affection for the German language. They even have whole Animes named after random German words. Take “Weiß Kreuz” for example.

  • January 7, 2013 at 6:54 am

Zweihander is a german word. It means “two-hander”. I suggest using it with 2 hands, since that is what the sword is balanced for. If you have enough strenght (you need less with 2 hands), the pictogram will not be dimmed, nor will it have a red cross.

    Also, you pronounced it… wrong.

I just had to comment on how fun this game is, I recently got it from Steam (PC) and I have to say, this is a really unique RPG experience that no RPG fan should miss.

  • January 7, 2013 at 9:25 am

This is one of my all time favorite games. Once you’ve started playing it you can’t stop. Sure you will get frustrated dying over and over again at the same place. And quit playing for a day or two, but you will always come back.

And Mike, you’ve only just started. And trust me, it’s not getting any easier. Good luck!

This game is my GOTY for 2012. I have sank nearly 300 hours into it, and it still hasn’t gotten old.

Great video Mike, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. It brought a smile to my face to see it posted here. 🙂

  • January 7, 2013 at 10:48 am

By the power of Greyskull, what an awesome 360 controller!!!!

I’ll have to check out the game as well. It looks hair-rippingly frustrating, though.

    hair-rippingly? I think I invented a new word.

  • January 7, 2013 at 11:05 am

The correct pronunciation of Zweihänder (as it would be correctly spelled in german) is something like “Ts-why-hander”.

You just reminded me that I have to pick this game up again, I never got far – Capra Demon or whatever he was called.

    January 7, 2013 at 11:44 am

Seriously Mike do a PVP invasions video. This is really the bane of the games existance lol.
You will be invaded repeatedly by the same person who has maxed out one skill which will do a cheesy one hit kill.
Me ans a buddy on NG+ were playing the demons ruins and we’re two attack builds and this guy must have seriously did the cheese run on his guy and leveled up his magic because his crystal homing soul arrow was going right through our shields and super armor and one hitting us. after 3 rounds of this shit we put on our magic sheilds and my buddy used his faith spell (i sound like such an ass) to negate his magic and that was the last we saw of him after he realized he could be beaten.
This game is littered with cheese bitch invaders who want nothing but to make a dumb character to invade using cheap glitches like that one that was never patched just to seem like bad asses.
Good invaders do dont do that or use lag stabs to win are a lot fo fun tho.
I fought an invader outside sif the other night who was a lot of fun and almost died but ended up with a lucky win.

What a great game… Totally rewarding. And yes The game is more patient than the difficult. Sometimes we forget that if we want something we have to fight for it little by little. Most ames nowadays gives you the whole content and nothing is surprissing. Resulting to be a monotonous game… Other do not show the experience method in a proper way. In some FPS the experience bar are kind of unfair. But games like halo 4 or Super smash brawl tehy teach you not only the basis of how to play the game, but it feels more rewarding as loong as you do… Not to mention mass effect series

    January 7, 2013 at 12:50 pm

Zweihänder is actually German and it means a sword that you have to hold with two hands.

  • January 7, 2013 at 12:52 pm

Mike, thanks for this video and your insight. Dark Souls indeed is one hell of a masterpiece. You are right, its not as hard as people make it out to be. Its very punishing, tho.

For everyone interested in the prequel: Demons Souls is coming to PSN I hear. Can really recommened this one too.

About Dark Souls II: No easy mode. Even though there was a change in directors (which is kinda blasphemy tbh, but ok..) Myazaki still has some supervisor role. While he technically cant decide anything, he promises that it will stay true to its roots.

I suggest EpicNameBro’s Youtube channel if you are interested in Dark Souls Lore. It’s worth it. Even though Dark Souls seems to have little story there is actually tons of background story that is really interesting. ENBs channel is perfect for getting information.

Also, if it gets to easy for you: Check out his challenges. 😉

  • McUnrealT

    January 7, 2013 at 1:41 pm

6:35 it is called a “Zweihänder” ^^ … it is german for “two handed sword”

    • McUnrealT

      January 7, 2013 at 1:44 pm

Sorry I had not seen that already 10 people have written that it should really be called two-handed sword ^ ^

  • January 7, 2013 at 1:42 pm

Your ‘exploit’ is naught but one of many methods for cheesing souls early in the game, and an impractical one at that given the barrier to entry. Dark Souls is all about being as massive of a dick to the game and to other players as possible. I hope that you get sucked further into Dark Souls and must learn what it truly means to be a motherfucker.

Nice review. This game reminds me of Diablo 1 combined with Crusaders of Might and Magic spiced with some cheap deaths and cruel design from the 90s. I think I’ll check it out, thanks Mike!

  • Yellowbastard

    January 7, 2013 at 2:55 pm

I loved both of the games. I guess having played the Demon’s Soul made the clunky interfact of Dark Souls more easy to manage. Upgrading your character and finding all the handy weapons is a must. Always go for the tail of enemies. Usually gives a fun bonus weapon (hint, dragons gargoyels et all).

The online part is quite fun I think. Messages are great and while I usually hate PVP this game makes it fun since you want to defend your souls.

Worst place to be. Anor Londo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5yw0wHQx9A

Dragons got me kind of in the mood for this, but I would love to hear your opinions of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, if you have played it or its predecessors.

  • January 7, 2013 at 3:41 pm

You should try playing online if you haven’t yet.
-You can summon/be summoned and play with other players.
-You can be invaded by other players if in human form and you did not beat the boss in the current area.
-You can see signs that other players left that can help or lure you to death.
-You can see what other players online are doing in your world from time to time by seeing their ghosts. Even see their bodies at any bonfire. They don’t affect your game, just neat to see them.
-You can view other players bloodstains and see how they died.
-Most Covenants (sort of like guilds but not really) affect online. Some ask you to help where most ask you to invade but for a different purpose and method.

The game is a lot of fun offline, but it’s addicting when played online. Especially with the new DLC that has a 2-4 Player PvP arena.

  • Fiore93verona

    January 7, 2013 at 4:39 pm

Mike, I bet my a** that if you ever will be able to finish this game you will make another video saying “Sorry, this game was VERY hard”.. And I stop here because I don’t want to spoil anything.. I Actually think that demon’s soul was way more difficult but this one is really huge and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to finish without having a strategy guide. Tons of items, weapons, magic, covenants, secret areas, new DLCs coming out.. But, I loved it and I’m still enjoying that atmosphere. I finished it about 20 times, and watching this video makes me wanna play it once more. Simply a masterpiece, but a really hard one.

  • January 7, 2013 at 4:45 pm

I cringed right after you mentioned leveling up to “newbies”.

    You motherfucking leveled up resistance.

Resistance is the #1 useless stat in dark souls. If you level up resistance, you can consider any type of build you were trying to go with immediately ruined.

Thanks for the video Mike. Steam was having a sale on this recently and I wanted to pick it up because my computer would probably look better than the XBOX360. I have since missed the sale due to other circumstances and was debating picking up the 360 version at a used retailer but I think I’ll go grab it now.

    Much obliged, sir. 🙂

Awesome Video Mike, now i must try this game out! All my life i have been a huge fan of the Ultima series and this hits home for me. If i might request you try the Ultima series if you havent already, and give your honest opinion on the whole thing in a review? I think it would make a really good review for you because the series has become so historical. I know it sounds tremendously nerdy from me by saying Ultima Online still lives on to this day (my acct is almost 15 yrs old) and with it being somewhat still underground to the masses, it was, after all, the first in many of its kind today. You would not regret the time spent playing through sir. well, not entirley 🙂

The xbox 360 is almost old enough to be retro…

      • sethpintos

        January 8, 2013 at 12:09 am

As if the 360 can be considered retro, that’d be like calling blurays retro and saying it’s digital only now. It’s still current gen and only a few years ago it was considered next gen. It launched just 7 years ago and the first console launched 40 years ago.

Get with the times my friend.

      • patlefort

exactly how do you record game play footage from your tv? i’m still not very keen on the kinds of equipment you can use in order to do such a thing. I’m always familiar with dvd recorder , but I dont think that’s it either. for example , say I wanted to record footage of me playing Bio Freaks on PS1 , but I dont have any mame software on my computer all while trying to avoid using a cmaera pointing directly at the tv screen. how would you go about recording gameplay footage from the tv?

Good to hear you liked the game. The Souls games definitely become easier the more you know about them although I think they both still have their difficult spots. As far as I know the 360 version isn’t really inferior in any way aside from having a smaller online community since most of the fans from Demon’s Souls bought the ps3 version.

great review mike , as always. I think you’ve gotten use to being the other voice on this site for a while. and I find it a rather good thing that we have 2 reviewers on the site for past and present topics. I find myself to be defiantley old school since I personally dont like everything now a days trying to be extremely realistic and more detailed when it comes to story telling and graphics. I dont really like everything to be grounded to reality when reality , as they always say , always kind of sucks. there used to be a time when games , movies , hell even cartoons didnt need to make much sense. it’s fantasy , nothing is suppose to make sense. but now , everything in pop culture is always about trying to look more real. either way , thanks for yet another great review mike. I hope to see more from you two in 2013. new year with a new video. sounds like a great way to start to me.

    • January 8, 2013 at 12:55 am

Oh, I hear that. Even though I’ve been reviewing a lot of new stuff, I’ll always be an old school gamer.

      • LordJason1986

        January 8, 2013 at 1:14 am

glad to hear that. I tend to be one of those kind of guys who would rather play an arcade machine than to pay money for online gaming. recently I beat Super Mario World in just 2 days , less than 24 hours if you count time. I dont have much games in my collection but I am trying to gain more from my best sources like lukiegames and estarland. Bio Freaks and F-Zero are the only other games that I have that is considered new for me since most of the time i’m purchasing dvd’s like Godzilla Vs Biollante. I even purchased The Guyver 2 dvd after watching your review. and that experience was amazing since it was the last copy that the website was ever going to have. you gave me luck on that day mike. ^-^

btw , the logo you see as my icon…I designed it. it’s essentially the logo for my ultimate epic amerime project “Eternal Conflict” and it depicts a white dragon with a blue orb on it’s forhead. the design was heavily inspired by a fusion of the Mortal Kombat Dragon logo and the Queen Alien Chestburster Logo from Alien 3. that’s part of what I do since I have been desigining characters/creatures/vehicles/weapons/& logo’s for officially 13 years.

Mike, the video will no longer work! The Jamesnintendonerd channel has been terminated by youtube!

  • Undertaker91

    January 8, 2013 at 1:41 am

James, what happened to your Youtube Channel??? its gone, it said you were deleted for violating the terms of service?

  • January 8, 2013 at 1:45 am

Why your youtube account was terminated?

  • none none

    January 8, 2013 at 1:59 am

Is it just me, or is this video now displaying a message stating James’ YouTube account has been terminated?

    • Kapere

      January 8, 2013 at 2:04 am

It is not you, His account has been terminated! What the fuck happened?!

  • katakis1

    January 8, 2013 at 2:17 am

Before anyone says that this happened many times before, yes, it did, and he was unbanned every time, but this time both his JamesNintendoNerd and Cinemassacre channels have been terminated simultaneously. Coincidence? I think not.

  • The Game

    January 8, 2013 at 2:20 am

Rather glad I found this video. Gave me some insight into the game before I made a decision. Oh, and it looks like the youtube account was cancelled or somethin’.

  • January 8, 2013 at 2:22 am

why is the Youtube Account banned?!

  • January 8, 2013 at 2:26 am

Yeah i literally loaded a video watched it, went to load another and YouTube says your account is terminated…wtf?!

  • ryon renegar

    January 8, 2013 at 2:28 am

whoa your youtube got shut down? is this because of sega going crazy? or a youtube mistake? im worried for you guys if it is sega

  • January 8, 2013 at 2:46 am

I’m guessing Sega is the one doing this again. They have been banning account of people posting game footage of old game all over the place. Small youtube account have no chance to get there account back. I hope that since your bigger you still have a chance, but I hope that will teach to people that they should try to boycott Sega as much as possible.

Make a video ajd keep us inform too 🙁

    • Kapere

      January 8, 2013 at 3:50 am

But Sega are targeting anything Shining Force related, did any of the videos have footage relating to it?

    • January 8, 2013 at 3:51 am

Sega seemed to only be targeting accounts that had footage of the old Shining Force game, but I don’t think James ever had any footage of that game. There’s no telling why Youtube banned him now, but I can bet it’s really stupid.

  • January 8, 2013 at 2:54 am

Whoa!!! Your Youtube account is gone WTF!!! That sucks! I was having a marathon of AVGN just finished Action 52 and then all your vids are gone what the fuuck!!

  • Rex Warner

    January 8, 2013 at 2:56 am

Expect to see a massive influx of new registered users here thanks to Youtube living up to their pejorative parody name.

Seriously, Mike and James, you guys run the best vidgame show of all time, with few people coming anywhere close. On topic, I still haven’t played Dark Souls, even though I bought it a while back. I don’t want to hate it, so I’m biding my time.

  • buffetboy

      January 8, 2013 at 6:03 am

I think it would be the best if you could host all videos on your own server, if you have enough capacities to do that. Then you could just upload trailers to YouTube like you did when a new episode came up on GameTrailers.com. I know it’s not the first time your YouTube channel got banned, so hosting the videos independently would be the best solution. Hope you’ll fix it soon and best of luck.

    • Kareem

I’ve been looking for something in the ballpark of the Xbox Ninja Gaiden, and this looks like it x10! Steam’s got it (it goes on sale every two weeks), so I’ll nab it there. I probably won’t play it for a while though . . . I can’t afford to get sucked into the vortex right now.

Hey, how many hours have you been at that so far?

    • January 9, 2013 at 10:20 am

If you grab it on pc be careful, You will need DSfix Patch. This will allow the res and graphic to be good. Also allow you to hide mouse. Xbox controller is also highly recommanded, I play with mouse and keyboard, but it takes time to get use to.
For the question you ask him, he’s only a few hours in. I would say 4h max. Except if he’s dragging is feet. The gargoyles are beginning boss 😛

Hey, thanks for the tip! I didn’t know about the patch, but I guess it figures for a console port. I love the 360 controller for pc games. It is by far the best gamepad ever made.

A video on Dark Souls by Mike Matei, Praise the Sun!

  • SotaMursu

    January 9, 2013 at 11:11 am

    Mount & Blade: Warband.
Even with a high level character and high quality armor, just one failed block might make you lose almost everything except your character. And it’s impossible to block arrows or two simultaneous swings at the same time unless you have a shield. And your shield will break in about 5 to 8 axe hits or about 20 sword hits or projectiles. Try it out, dark souls is almost nothing compared to this game, especially if you play it online. There’s also the best face customizing i’ve seen in any online game, i recognize most players in the community by their faces online!

    here’s some (online) footage: :

Nice to see your impressions of the game! I have dedicated a lot of time to it so it’s great to hear that you liked it.

I suggest wearing lighter armor or increasing your endurance to not get hindered by it. If you find the Elite Knight armor set, I recommend leveling that since it can go to +10 and is very reliable throughout the whole game.

I’m sure there are thousands of comments gawking advice your way haha. Enjoy the rest of the game 🙂

I been a fan of you and James for a long time, this video is the reason why I created a account. Keep up the awesome work!

    January 14, 2013 at 1:42 am

Yes! Awesome video Mike! This game is amazing. Both Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls are in my top 5. I really enjoy seeing other views on this game since its so difficult. I’m glad to hear you didn’t get frustrated and give up. I wouldn’t expect you to since you and James are always playing the tough NES games (ninja Gaiden, Ghosts N’ Goblins, All Mega Mans ect). Dark Souls really reminds me of those old school NES game. no guidance, hard as freak, and you find your self not giving up b/c the feeling you get after beating a tough boss or a level is sooooo satisfying. So i’ll sum it up with this statement: This game has balls, and you have to have balls to play it. Keep up the great work guys!

  • roklie

    January 14, 2013 at 3:54 pm

I personally prefer Demon’s Souls over Dark Souls. Demon’s Souls is more arcade-y to me than the spiritual successor and the overall feeling was better, I absolutely loved that game.

My friends have been trying to get me to play this game for a while now. I just don’t have the patience, nor the time to dedicate to a game like this. Still, looks like a lot of fun and frustration just like those good ol’ Nintendo days.

  • ben decker

    March 25, 2013 at 1:10 pm

    nice vid mike.
dark souls is a great game i actually like the open world feature as opposed to demons souls. you can go from one area to another without loading screens. each area in demons souls had to load.
after the first playthrough this game gets easier for you, being that you already leveled up and upgraded weapons/armor.

  • April 13, 2013 at 6:29 pm

Don’t know if you figured this out yet, but wield the ZweiHander with 2 hands, might get better that way.

  • Bludman2

    October 20, 2013 at 3:59 am

Not only is it a great game but you missed alot of the systems e.g summoning other players or npcs to help you during boss fights. That scary knight guy you ran into was one of them and if you do his “side story/quest” he can help you beat the last boss aswell as many other tough bosses.

  • Jordan Diehl

    March 26, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Did you ever beat this game?
And now that Dark Souls 2 is out have you tried that? It would be cool to see a review on it. 😀

  • Brian Goodman

    July 18, 2014 at 7:33 am

Great review Mike, I might have to check this out. Should I play the first game first, or can I go directley to Dark Souls? Again, great review.

    • Chris Frost

      July 21, 2015 at 5:57 am

The story isn’t the strong point of this game, the gameplay and the atmosphere is. So just play dark souls. But don’t be casual about this game. Invest your time in it and be patient.

  • November 16, 2014 at 9:03 pm

There is a better glitch to level up. Some bosses when killed drop items that you can use and they give you souls. I just killed the big wolf and he drops one called the soul of sif. What you do is if you are a male character select the item so you can use it with the square button on PS3, or X on Xbox. Then do a roll and in mid roll press B to use the item and immediately bring up your menu and go to your inventory and use the estus flask from the menu. A message will come up and say do you wish to use soul of sif yes/no. Pick yes and you get an immediate 16000 souls. This does not waste the item either. It works with any item that when used make you choose yes/no, so homeward bones, and fire keeper souls can be used infinitely.

  • Chris Frost

    July 21, 2015 at 5:53 am

This is one of the best games ever made. And reason why it’s so great is the hard difficulty. Because when you beat a hard boss or get to the next bonfire, that feeling is indescribably amazing. But one thing that makes this game easier in a good way is when you learn to parry. But because of that, the last boss was disapointing. He was awesome, but wayyyy too easy for the last boss.
