James / January 4th, 2013
January 4, 2013 at 12:32 am
My favorite Metallica song happens to be Enter Sandman. Goes fittingly well with any music video for Nightmare on Elm Street that you can find on YouTube.
I challenge you James to do a Name That Tune – “Weird Al” Yankovic.
May 9, 2016 at 6:36 pm
I agree with everything you just said.
January 4, 2013 at 2:11 am
January 4, 2013 at 2:53 am
Wish Mike would turn the comp away from James more. Not saying he is cheating but the screen is RIGHT there.
January 4, 2013 at 4:01 am
I was yelling DISPOSABLE HEROES at my monitor xD. Great job otherwise James and Metallica rule.
November 22, 2015 at 11:40 pm
I almost read your comment as “I was yelling disposable heroes at my mother
January 4, 2013 at 11:30 am
you guys should do one on megadeth too 😀
January 8, 2013 at 2:54 pm
If they did a Megadeth one, it’d just be listening to news broadcasts about the President being kidnapped over and over 😛
January 4, 2013 at 1:04 pm
Even though i liked metallica before, i have grown to resent them a lot. They got famous because of people sharing their songs on casettes and when they got rich and famous they started suing everybody including the same fans that helped them get where they are. To buy a metallica song or album is equal to sponsoring the RIAA.
January 7, 2013 at 7:19 am
I used to love Metallica back when I was in high school over 12 years ago. I completely lost faith when they started touting the RIAA as the best thing to ever happen to the fucking industry and I completely stopped listening to them. I haven’t bought an album since then. I dabbled in a few other bands like Megadeth, Iron Maiden, etc, but I’ve gotten out of the metal scene completely and don’t listen to any metal anymore. I’m just not angry anymore, you know?
January 7, 2013 at 3:25 pm
Personally, I love Iron Maiden a lot more. Metallica is great to pop in once in a while for heavy riffs and sound, but Maiden is always enjoyable where as Metallica is a type of mood, spur of the moment kind of deal. Great band none the less but I completely agree with you.
January 8, 2013 at 4:02 am
I never did like Metallica even though I do like metal music, and a lot of friends growing up loved them. I have to wonder though if Metallica had something to do with getting all their youtube accounts terminated because of this video.
January 8, 2013 at 3:28 pm
To this day it amazes me that people still perpetuate the falsehood that Metallica sued their fans and that they did it for money. They sued Napster. They sued to get their music off the program, not for money. They presented a list of people who were sharing their music after Napster laughingly told them to “prove it”, like they were untouchable.
January 4, 2013 at 4:10 pm
I knew Leper Messiah! Out of the two videos, I’m proud I got one that James missed…
January 8, 2013 at 12:33 pm
The Youtube channel has been deleted, what a bunch of bull$h!t. Well the only reason I went there anyway was for Cinemassacre. To hell with Google, Youtube, Metalica, the RIAA and MPAA. I hate em all.
January 4, 2013 at 6:02 pm
This is crazy, bro.
January 4, 2013 at 6:16 pm
Does anyone know what James favorite Metallica album is? Or least favorite? I’m curious to know now …
July 13, 2015 at 8:18 pm
He did an audio slaughter on Metallica and in it I believe he said Death Magnetic was his favorite album. If you’d like to know him and his wife’s opinions on different music you can watch Audio slaughter.
January 4, 2013 at 6:55 pm
Great video James.
January 4, 2013 at 10:47 pm
I totally nailed Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes. But you got Creeping Death and Orion.
January 5, 2013 at 12:10 am
this is insane, then again I could probably do the same with Rammstein
January 5, 2013 at 12:25 am
These videos are surprisingly fun to watch. Good job guys!
January 5, 2013 at 12:58 am
There needs to be a Slayer name that tune then shit gets real.
January 5, 2013 at 1:06 am
i was pissed with james missing how many he got wrong. yet again who am i to talk since i know id get some wrong too. i am glad james does like st anger since people overlook that one as to being terrible.
January 5, 2013 at 4:43 am
I could probably do this with RHCP. Rock on James
January 5, 2013 at 5:13 am
why don’t you play at least 30 secs of the respective song after each guess by James? this way people, who are not familiar with the bands, can get an impression of the music.
January 5, 2013 at 5:58 am
I think you should do an AVGN Name That Video Game Tune, with a character Mike has played, or make a new one up.
January 5, 2013 at 10:41 am
Harvester of Sorrow with brass instruments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPMaelOTVb0
January 5, 2013 at 10:51 am
I got all of them right except the all songs involved within load, reload and St. Anger. Just not a fan of there midstuff… But I gotta hand it to you James. You’re a bigger Metallica fan than me. You ARE the fuckin’ nerd! \m/ Oh yeah next one should be either Megadeth or Slayer.
January 5, 2013 at 11:29 am
Why isn’t this video featured? it’s awesome!
January 5, 2013 at 11:43 am
You guys always have the best shirts!
January 5, 2013 at 1:38 pm
Holy shit you are good at this James…
January 5, 2013 at 6:05 pm
It’s hard to believe, but @ Leper Messiah my Bro beat the Nerd. ^^ He says because of the 1,2,3,4 counting 🙂 Well we lost on all other songs ^^
Greets from Germany 🙂
January 5, 2013 at 8:40 pm
Please do a “NAME THAT TUNE – MOTÖRHEAD” so I can try to challenge you! Awesome video btw!
January 5, 2013 at 9:25 pm
Holy Nuts, I thought I knew my Metallica but James would have squashed me in a head-to-head. Need to re-listen to some albums!
January 5, 2013 at 10:09 pm
That is insane.
January 5, 2013 at 11:40 pm
This is awesome. I have the same taste in music. The best Metallica song IMO is Jump in the Fire off Kill em’ All.
James, coninue the big 4 trend, do MEGADETH next time!! \M/
January 6, 2013 at 3:39 am
I agree! Anthrax would be pretty difficult with all the lead changes and such XD. Would also like to see Slayer and Megadeth to 😀
January 6, 2013 at 1:31 am
Even more insane than with Sabbath. Clips seemed shorter, and Metallica has a more consistent sound.
You should be on network television…
Only one that I got was “Am I Evil?” (should’ve had Battery too, but I brain-farted). Before James did too. But it IS my favorite. 🙂
January 6, 2013 at 3:37 am
lol Really shocked you didn’t get disposable heroes 😛 Do an Iron Maiden Name That Tune! (if your a fan that is)
January 6, 2013 at 5:56 am
Maybe Led Zeppelin next?
January 6, 2013 at 10:14 am
I bet I would kill at an AC/DC version.
January 6, 2013 at 2:59 pm
should do the big 4
January 6, 2013 at 6:41 pm
I love Metallica! I have since the 3rd Grade. My all-time favorite band by far. Must say James, you know them better than I do, which is very impressive! Awesome video guys!
January 6, 2013 at 6:47 pm
I thought I was good at name that tune. Play about 5 seconds of a song I can usually get the name and the artist but half a second is insane. I did get a few of them but James kicked my ass. Nicely done sir! Cool idea for a video!
January 6, 2013 at 7:22 pm
crazy shit lol
January 6, 2013 at 10:00 pm
You NEED to do Iron Maiden next!
January 6, 2013 at 10:06 pm
lol, I was hoping you’d play the opening to “Unforgiven II”, only to guess that it was “Unforgiven”. I hate it when Unforgiven II pops up on m iPod. Gets my hopes up.
January 6, 2013 at 11:05 pm
i could Try to to that with King Crimson songs!
January 6, 2013 at 11:35 pm
this was awesome, i pretty much got the ones you didnt except some from saint anger and load/reload but missed 1 or 2 due to i couldnt hear it, very well done 🙂
January 7, 2013 at 1:37 am
That’s a real talent man, kudos.
January 7, 2013 at 1:41 am
You sure know your Metallica. You should do Led Zep next
January 7, 2013 at 1:53 am
Too bad Metallica never put out a song entitled sensory overload. haha. Honestly tho, coulda alternately titled this vid the many faces of James. Btw Mike, you totally played Carpe Diem Baby twice. Just sayin.
January 7, 2013 at 2:14 am
Now you can try with a new “name that 8 bit tune” or maybe songs from video games and old cartoons hehe
Regards from Mexico City
January 7, 2013 at 3:06 am
We have said cyanide at the same time when you guessed it, and i fucken love metallica and i laughed my ass off when you said Metal up your ass i mean James says ass so funny and speaking of james. James hetfield is in the band and didnt you play guitar once james cause i play guitar and i play old nintendo games and much more, loved the video james you are the legend of Humor.
January 7, 2013 at 3:09 am
I love Metallica to death and i love jame’s videos these put together are awesome. Awesome video james i love your acting and what you do.
January 7, 2013 at 4:30 am
I’d love to see these guys do this with video game music….
January 7, 2013 at 6:10 am
Very good vid, sadly I got at least 5 songs wrong.
James, wich ones are your top 3 favorite albums?
January 7, 2013 at 9:19 am
Would have been fun to play James the opening of the AVGN song as the last one. 😀
January 7, 2013 at 10:16 am
Mike should had played To live is to die from the middle and see if he got that song right.
January 7, 2013 at 12:12 pm
PLEASE DO AC/DC!
January 7, 2013 at 1:04 pm
This videos are pretty fun. How about Motörhead next?
Anyway, pretty impressive James!
January 7, 2013 at 3:32 pm
The video isn’t working for me…
January 7, 2013 at 4:31 pm
Of course the track from fucking St. Anger stumps him.
January 7, 2013 at 11:38 pm
January 8, 2013 at 12:03 am
Holy Shit, James… that’s impressive. I consider myself a huge Metallica fan, but I only knew about six or seven of those songs after hearing a mere half a second of them. (I’m proud to say that I did get Leper Messiah and Disposable Heroes, though.) 🙂
January 8, 2013 at 12:43 am
I’ve got a more obscure music question for not only James & Mike , but to everyone here at cinemassacre commenting. lets see if anyone out there can crack the code and solve this mystery. there exists out there a song used for movies trailers that everyone has heard , but no knows what it is , where it came from , or how to find it even to own as an mp3. the song was used for the movie trailers of Alien 3 , The Howling IV , Gabriel Knight 2 , & Mad At The Moon. no one knows what the name of the song is called even to this very day. what can be heard is clearly a orchestrial score with a choir singing in the background. it’s a briliant song , but because it’s been lost for so many years and no one has yet to finally put to rest what that tune is , it has remained a mystery even to this very day. that’s why someone needs to discover the secret and uncover the name of this song , and finally have it available as an mp3.
here is the trailer to Alien 3 and see if anyone can rewcognize that theme : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wJsw6KmRyU
January 8, 2013 at 4:51 am
I had my Kill ‘Em All shirt on watching this. I actually got a few of the songs too, but James is nuts.
Imagine one of these on Slayer or Coldplay.
January 8, 2013 at 5:57 am
Just realized they banned you from youtube!!!
NEVER USING IT AGAIN!!!
January 8, 2013 at 10:00 am
Its sad that you guys lost you’re youtube account 🙁
January 8, 2013 at 10:20 am
Your YouTube accounts got terminated!
January 8, 2013 at 11:01 am
Thats amazing how he could remember all those songs. True Metallica fan!
January 8, 2013 at 1:56 pm
Next band needs to be AC/DC!
January 8, 2013 at 2:52 pm
At this quiz I would have pwnd James! Tobad Metallica sucks since 2001 when Jason Newsted left.
January 8, 2013 at 6:42 pm
DO NAME THAT TUNE GWAR OR GG ALLIN
January 8, 2013 at 6:58 pm
dude, you should have played I Disappear. That song rules and it’s not on any album … except for the Mission Impossible 2 soundtrack.
January 8, 2013 at 9:53 pm
That’s insane James! I knew a couple though 🙂
January 8, 2013 at 10:04 pm
I think the only band I could beat you in is Iron Maiden.
January 10, 2013 at 12:43 am
this was awesome. i couldn’t get any song off the St. Anger album because, well, i didn’t like that album. anyway, i hope you do Slayer, Motorhead, or AC/DC next.
January 10, 2013 at 9:37 am
I love the videos of James and Mike doing stuff together. You guys should start doing podcasts, I bet it’d be really fun and entertaining.
January 10, 2013 at 10:00 am
Don’t let Metallica see this! They will force you to pay for mentioning them, let alone playing snippets from their songs!
Ps. I’d love to see one of these with Rush!
January 12, 2013 at 4:33 pm
Wow, That is quite impressive. GJ
January 15, 2013 at 11:15 pm
Glad to see James is just about as big of a Metallica fan as I am. They’ve been my fav. band of all time since the mid-90s. I didn’t really listen to metal as a kid, partly because my grandmother didn’t LIKE me listening to “that music”, but I got into it big time as a young teen. That band and it’s music honestly helped me through a lot of hard times. Kudos James!
P.S. Would internet kids please get the fuck over the “Napster” thing? Some of you probably weren’t even old enough to be aware of what happened back in 2000. And they never “sued their fans”, they sued Napster. God forbid someone doesn’t want people getting all their shit for free. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve certainly downloaded my share over the years. But as an artist, I would certainly want people to pay money for my work, as that is how I’d like to make my living, as opposed to just giving it away. We simply do not live in that kind of society (too bad), and since we DON’T, fact is, a band like Metallica usually puts out music worth paying for. At least in this man’s opinion.
January 16, 2013 at 2:18 pm
I couldn’t name a single song from Load on. I listen to Metallica almost exclusively, and I still had troubles with some of the ones I’d know.
January 17, 2013 at 1:36 pm
i’ve been listening to Metallica ever since i watched this video. thanks for reminding me how great a band they are. by the way, just put your iTunes on shuffle and do “Name That Tune” that way. That would be fun to watch. Thanks guys!
February 9, 2013 at 4:41 pm
i would probably know every single one of these right away except the newer stuff because they sucked after the black album

James, please, I want to share your ability to recognize these songs, I love Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Avenged Sevenfold, The Beatles, AC/DC…
January 7, 2014 at 6:36 am
You actually guessed Carpe Diem Baby twice, James 😀
January 8, 2014 at 7:26 pm
Creeping Death was easy!
January 8, 2014 at 7:37 pm
i got slither before him too. and battery and for whom the bells toll
October 21, 2014 at 1:19 am
Hey Mike, NO ONE needs to brush up on St. Anger Sir.
December 24, 2014 at 3:58 am
Oddly enough, I was playing along and I also got “The Cure” right away somehow. I don’t even care for the song much either, lol. It’s probably because the drum beat is so distinct. It’s clearly from Load. And the guitar immediately played in my head after the drum beat.
October 26, 2015 at 11:14 am
I can do this to every Van Halen CD and song from ever Era.
January 5, 2016 at 3:27 am
got 100% 😀 \m/ James really knows his ‘tallica haha
May 19, 2016 at 4:46 am
You really know your Metallica, lol.
