Hmmmm Not much of a deal there James. $18 for 2 shorts. I’m hoping this is the rate the Screwattack made you go with and not one you picked yourself. I may not be as popular, but if I had to price this eh maybe $7.99 plus shipping.

@NEORaven667 The bonus features are probably the reason you might want it.

  • May 14, 2012 at 12:49 pm

    high price

  • May 14, 2012 at 12:50 pm

kind of a high price if you asked me… especially because i can watch both of these films on here for free. and i doubt that there are THAT MANY bonus features on this DVD that would make this worth it’s high price. sorry james

NEORaven667 and you know exactly how much money it takes to make the dvds? Go f off jack a

@Kushdc DVDs are typically extremely cheap to make, especially if you have some sort of production deal worked out like ScrewAttack almost certainly does. The expense comes in the production of the actual content of the DVD. Considering what is on the DVD, it probably didn’t cost much to make. That said, the DVD could be worth it if you are interested enough in what’s on it.

Look, neither of those films were made with the ScrewAttack production deal. The Legend of the Blue hole is James’ college film and the Head Incident was made when he was in High School I believe, shot on VHS. Watch Cinemassacre 200 for more details.

$17.98 + S&P? Really James? Come on dude, you’re not that hard up for cash. Knock off $10, or at least down to $10 because I won’t buy it otherwise, and I know a lot of these people won’t either. Heck if I can buy a copy of Home Alone, a hit classic, at Wal-Mart for $7.50 then I know you can too for what you’re offering.

Legend of the Blue Hole alone is worth it! I’m buying it right now in support of Cinemassacre

@Gleeok With the ScrewAttack thing I was talking about actually printing it onto a DVD and making the cases, not making the actual films.

Even james doesnt look really amped about this dvd set….pass.

  • May 14, 2012 at 9:45 pm

@Kushdc Actually I work for a production studio so I do know how much it costs to make a DVD. To be honest it doesn’t take or cost as much as people think with the kinda stuff that he is doing so long as the memory is 4.3gbs you are safe to do it cheap and efficient. Only time it costs more is if you need ways to make more memory fit on small size DVD’s. I can mass produce DVDs fast. 15mins per disc and then an extra 10 for the labeling process. As long as you got the cover made for the case already done you are set.
    Cost Breakdown
100 DVDs at Radio Shack $20
200 set labels $10 (I got a friend so they may cost more other places)
Burning Process: Free (I use Corel/DVD video Burner)
Programs: May cost a pretty penny but if you already have them then what is the problem.

@NEORaven667 – I have to agree with nanofuture. I’ve seen “Curse of the Blue Hole” and it’s really good. It’s easily worth $7.99 with bonus features. “The Head Incident” is pretty good, too. I don’t think $18 is bad at all.

Screwattack are such a fucking JOKE.

They got lucky finding James, because without him they would have NOTHING. What a bunch of talentless losers, I have yet to laugh at a single video of theirs (and stopped watching years ago).

I hope your contract with them ends soon, you would have much more chance selling your DVDs without them hiking the price up so that they can milk you like a pregnant cat.

@snake0 – While I would normally not feed a Troll, I will say that I LOVE Screwattack. They’re a great bunch of guys and I hope they keep turning out content for years to come.

Nice try Craig, better luck next time lol

It’s not trolling its my opinion, which in this case also happens to be fact.

I love the sound of having those two movies on DVD, but I agree with what others have said about the price being high. I was fine with paying roughly that for Vol 1 because it was six films, so about $3 each which is more than fair given the amount and quality of extras.

But this is nearly $9 per film, which would reasonable if they were feature-length. My two cents is, if you want to support James, buy a shirt instead.

Anyone notice that the background music is from the 3DS eshop game “Mutant Mudds”? It’s a modern game that looks like it could have been released for the NES, and I was wondering if James knew about it. I guess this means that he does (or at least someone on his team does).

And if you haven’t heard of it, check it out….

I hate to break it to you, J.J. McSandfarm, but the music is from Mega Man 9. It plays in the in-game shop.

Ah, crap. Well, I played the living shit out of both games, and they sound similar…I think. OK, my mistake

I know Screwattack gets their cut, then James, then production cost. But it still feels overpriced. Like someone else said, you can buy in bulk and mass produce (dvd, case, label, insert) for less than $3 each.

A lot of people have the money and we appreciate the free entertainment James has provided us through the years (even though he does get paid well to make videos, remember that) but gratitude can only go so far when hard earned cash is concerned.

Maybe if there was more content than 2 shorts or if they were autographed it’d be worth it. And I know the old “no one is forcing you to buy it” is on everyone’s mind, but the point is I would like to have this in my collection. I am a fan and would like to support James. But the price simply doesn’t match the desire. We all love the NES, but would you pay $200 bucks for one at a yard sale? Why not sell 1000 dvds at $10 instead of 100 at $18?

You can sheer a sheep many times, but skin him only once…..
