I’d love to explore the mysteries of gaming in that treasure trove.
February 29, 2012 at 10:05 pm
@Jingleboy If I just had money to burn, I think one thing I would probably do, is build up a collection like this. Not QUITE like that. I wouldn’t bother with some of the real crap he’s been sent or gotten over the years like the CDi or some of the old Colecovisions or whatever. But I would bulk up my NES and SNES collection, try to get a working old Game Boy and get more games for that, Master System, Genesis, Atari 2600, probably a Saturn, stuff like that. Just to have them. I mean, my friend and I have a pretty decent NES and SNES collection, and even N64 going on. But only a fraction of that. Man…..to say that you pretty much literally own every NES title ever release in the NA, and some even from Japan and EU……crazy.
February 29, 2012 at 10:18 pm
@Devil_Rising @Jingleboy If I had the money I’d probably get a Saturn or Dreamcast, never owned either but they seem interesting
February 29, 2012 at 10:21 pm
@WildFO @Devil_Rising @Jingleboy
I owned both and they weren’t.
February 29, 2012 at 10:19 pm
Wait this is your dream? Umm that can easily be attained for probably a couple hundred dollars at most.
Or you could use emulators and have access to literally any old game ever made on almost any system for free.
February 29, 2012 at 10:46 pm
@Devil_Rising Y U no like colecovision?
February 29, 2012 at 8:08 pm
LOL thats just so bad… the 80’s were like the techno version of the aliens in the 60’s
February 29, 2012 at 8:10 pm
This and the other glasses video were the best extras on the Vol.4 DVD. Glad others get to see them.
It looks like what Doc Brown wears in BTTF part 2!
February 29, 2012 at 8:19 pm
Honestly, I’m all for Star Wars 3D rereleases. I’ve seen The Phantom Menace 3D, and I believe it has plenty of potential with the later entries. At least, it gives me the chance to see Star Wars on the big screen just for the experience.
February 29, 2012 at 8:40 pm
ALL YOUR BASS ARE BELONG TO US!!!! D:
February 29, 2012 at 8:43 pm
Ah yes, the Sega 3D Glasses. I had these as a kid, but the only 3D game I had was Missile Defense 3D. It was pretty cool, you got to use both the 3D glasses and the light gun.
February 29, 2012 at 9:23 pm
@Lady3Jane79 Same here, I think that was the game that came bundled. Don’t remember if the light gun came bundled or if we already had one.
February 29, 2012 at 8:59 pm
That TV might have something to do with it, it works better on older TVs. I actually think this works better than any other 3D I’ve seen. Was way ahead of it’s time.
February 29, 2012 at 9:59 pm
@RetroRepair Kind of like how old Light Zapper type controllers are useless with flatscreen tvs? At first I just thought the old light guns had worn out. Turns out, nope, they were just made to work with round-screened tvs.
February 29, 2012 at 9:15 pm
February 29, 2012 at 9:27 pm
@timtoni nobody cares
February 29, 2012 at 9:28 pm
my friend had these, and i recently purchased a 3d tv. Gaming in 3d is pretty awesome nowadays.
I saw the title thought it was a nerd video and was disappointed :c still pretty nice vid tho
February 29, 2012 at 10:02 pm
3D was a huge fad when it first came out in the 50s. Then it faded out. It became a huge fad again in the 80s, around 86 or so when I went to Disneyland and saw Captain EO. But then it faded out. Certainly there’s something to be said for the new 3D technology being a lot better, and of course IMAX has been around since before this new fad took hold. But I still feel (and honestly kind of hope, personally, that it fades out again. It won’t ever truly make movies “better”, and it will never honestly be anything more than a gimmick. Maybe not as cheap a gimmick as it was in the past. But still just a gimmick.
February 29, 2012 at 10:07 pm
Cool vid, I thought you’d at least let Mike have a go tho, I wanted to hear his take on the 3D…
February 29, 2012 at 10:12 pm
there have not seen a real nerd video in like a year WTF I don’t care about a movie
@oldjohnboy1 That doesn’t even make sense, and speak for yourself.
February 29, 2012 at 10:24 pm
@oldjohnboy1 and no one cares about what you want
March 1, 2012 at 1:12 am
@oldjohnboy1 James is kinda getting tired of the nerd. He wont get rid of it completely but even after the movie is over the nerd may only show once a year. This information VIA James Mailbag
February 29, 2012 at 10:16 pm
Video too short! We want more from you guys, who are the masters of the universe. Or at least the internet.
February 29, 2012 at 10:40 pm
Too short, but thanks anyway =)
February 29, 2012 at 10:41 pm
i can’t find these… dam
February 29, 2012 at 10:52 pm
I used to have a pair of those! Pretty good tech, considering we’re talking late 80’s.
February 29, 2012 at 10:53 pm
February 29, 2012 at 11:07 pm
that was fast…lol i even got some beer and it’s over 😛
February 29, 2012 at 11:11 pm
@Lordslug LOL I got so use to doing the same thing.
March 1, 2012 at 12:21 am
@Lordslug 1 cactus for you
February 29, 2012 at 11:09 pm
Good Vid nice to see more of Jame’s collection can’t wait to see more.
Short but awesome!
February 29, 2012 at 11:16 pm
this is a bonus video, not supposed to be a full length episode, besides james wasnt in character it was just him and mike hanging out. So it doesnt technically make it a angry video game nerd video
February 29, 2012 at 11:46 pm
you’re my hero
You know what’s Bullshit? 3D. Its so pointless and overused. WHAT WERE THE FILMMAKERS THINKING?!?!?
i wonder what avgns babys first word is going to be………..maybe fu**? haha
so when r u transitioning to blu-ray…
i remember those coming with the sega master system. Missle defense 3D was a cool quick game at the time.
SPACE HARRIER! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QfwKqy3LyY
the first 3d glasses for a game system awesome.
Fuck you I love those 3D glasses you piece of shit!!
we need some avgn movie news.
The sad part is that 3D technology hasn’t improved since this.
Yup now show the first online system the Intellevision in 3D lol
I wish this actually talked a little more about the Sega 3D Glasses. There’s a definite need to spend some time on the Sega Master System at some point.
James Rolfe is on Spike? When did this happen? Doing movie reviews “CineMassacre”.
lol you have to plug in those glasses…
I hate that flash video player you and screwattack use, it never works for me unless I use my android phone.
Master System rules, the old shutter glasses rule, Sega rules!
I just watched it perfectly fine on my Droid RAZR…
Coming Soon!! Avatar only on SEGA!!
hes always been a film critic, he was on spike for long time now he doing an avgn movie, i need to buy all the dvd 😛
Ahhh man lucky! I have the master system and the 3D games but no glasses.
February 29, 2012 at 11:47 pm
AND NOW STAR WARS IS IN 4XD!!
February 29, 2012 at 11:48 pm
lol i remember those.
one day those will be out again, but this time most likely a blue tooth? or atleast they will be the same size and shape as regular glasses. really all that needs to be developed is a wireless conection between console/battery/game to the video/audio in the glasses
March 1, 2012 at 12:17 am
I wonder if this works at all like the 3D dvd set I have. There used to be a Japanese Laserdisc format entitled VHD where 3D movies like Dial M For Murder, House Of Wax and Friday the 13th part 3D were released on this format except, instead of stereoscopic Red and Blue 3D it was anaglyph 3D with clear glasses that you would electronically hook up to the player and would digitally pull the two fields together. It worked great on standard televisions but not on flat screens, using the curvature of the screen to its advantage.
Sometime in the early 2000s there were a handful of direct to dvd b movies that were produced specifically for a 3D dvd viewing system that basically used the same technology. I have a rip of the Friday the 13th part 3 VHD formatted to this system and it works great!
March 1, 2012 at 1:25 am
I wish Paramount would spend the money to release a 3D Blu-Ray version of Friday the 13th Part 3. I remember seeing it in 3D in the theater, and NOTHING has ever come close to how awesome the 3D was back then.
March 1, 2012 at 12:29 am
I definitely play Zaxxon with these to this day
March 1, 2012 at 1:20 am
The 3D wasn’t all that bad for the Master system. Blu-ray 3D now is only marginally better. I remember Missile Defense 3D and Maze Hunter 3D were the best 3D games on the Master System. As James said, it’s better than the Rad Racer Red & Blue crap.
March 1, 2012 at 1:21 am
These adds are really getting out of fucking control.
March 1, 2012 at 1:22 am
These ads are really getting out of fucking control.
March 1, 2012 at 1:26 am
3D TV’s are such rip offs! (lol jk)
March 1, 2012 at 1:48 am
they were quite good but even as a kid they crushed your skull!
March 1, 2012 at 2:39 am
To all the people complaining, he is no making New videos anymore, all the stuff you are watchin recently its just the Bonus content From the AVGN DVDs besides from the log & mike stuff offcourse
March 1, 2012 at 3:08 am
Was only available for the ms 1, there was no connection for it in the ms 2
March 1, 2012 at 3:26 am
Do you have the Vectrex 3D glasses?
March 1, 2012 at 3:53 am
It’s funny how Nintendo, Sega, and Sony have all toyed with 3D for YEARS. Now, all these years later, it’s finally all come together in the 3DS.
I fucking love the 3DS btw.
March 1, 2012 at 5:06 am
these glasses are pretty cool lookin. i might wanna get those just to wear them 😛
March 1, 2012 at 5:10 am
Rumors are that George Lucas is releasing episodes 1-6 in 3D for cash for episodes 7-9, so he and/or his nephew can get cracking on creating those.
March 1, 2012 at 6:02 am
@MichealKing he better not!!
March 1, 2012 at 9:26 am
@FrankDoomriderJohansen How do you even begin to create a continuation of that story without it being as shitty as the extended universe is? They’ve taken down the empire. That’s it. Game over, man. Game over.
March 1, 2012 at 9:43 am
@MichealKing george lucas said that the 3d thing with the new trilogy would be the last thing with his older movies. If thats true we should (almost) all good! Infact there are already rumors that he is making a new feature.
March 1, 2012 at 10:45 am
@MichealKing He’d better rewrite and reshoot Episodes 1-3 to make them as good as Episodes 4-6 (although this will never happen)
March 1, 2012 at 5:28 am
[Writing this in the wrong place because you’ve made sure people can’t comment on the blog post at hand.] I’m probably gonna come off as white knighting now, but I seriously don’t care. I just want to say that I feel very sorry Mrs. Nerd. Some of you guys are such fucking assholes. She took what appears to be quite some time to write something to us that she thought would be fun and you guys shoot her the fuck down? Trash her, mock her, degrade her? If you were true fans of James Rolfe you wouldn’t give the person he plans on spending his entire life with so much shit, as if it doesn’t matter. It fucking does. He’s not gonna remain indifferent to something like that. You’re undoubtedly hurting both of them. You aren’t just awful fans, you’re awful people. When someone is trying to be nice to you, bringing no harm to anyone, you don’t give them that kind of reception. You just don’t.

@Kaleidoscopic God So…where’s the related article?
Just wanna be able to follow the conversation is all.
March 1, 2012 at 5:55 am
@EliJeannineDirkx Here: http://cinemassacre.com/2012/02/22/mrs-nerd-talks-about-food/
March 1, 2012 at 4:24 pm
@Kaleidoscopic God Hence I generally don’t give a flying fuck about fandoms.
That people can react so violently to something so…well, not Armageddon at all, just proves to me they have too much time on their hands.
March 1, 2012 at 6:28 am
@Kaleidoscopic God The internet is full of people whom really aren’t worth the air they breathe. It’s sad.
March 1, 2012 at 6:38 am
@JustinShredderWalencik @Kaleidoscopic God Replace internet with “the world” and I completely agree…
March 1, 2012 at 7:05 am
@Kaleidoscopic God I doubt the comments hurt her and she doesn’t really guva a flying fuck about them anyway. She rises above them and ignores them. After her first posting, so many guys were negative to her. In her second posting she seemed to have ignored them as she didn’t address any of the comments and simply talked about the topics at hand. The first post was titled “Mrs. Nerd Speaks” and the second one “Mrs.Nerd Responds”. If James feels that this negativity directed towards his wife is too much I’m sure he would let us know in a video posting.
March 1, 2012 at 7:12 am
@gamez You could be right, but acting like you don’t care isn’t the same as not caring. I wouldn’t take this feedback well, I know that much for sure. Either way, I’m sure James is bothered by the fans seeming annoyed by his wife. Among many other things, he must be thoroughly disappointed.
March 1, 2012 at 7:13 am
@gamez Disappointed in us, naturally. Not in his wife not meeting our expectations.
March 1, 2012 at 7:38 am
@Kaleidoscopic God You’re right about that one. True fans would accept his wife
March 1, 2012 at 8:26 am
March 1, 2012 at 6:35 am
After 3D? Either the holodeck or something in the Style of the Matrix.
March 1, 2012 at 6:42 am
Have you tried the 3D glasses for the Famicom? I have them, int the original box and a Famicom. I don’t own any games that work them nor can read the Japanese instructions
March 1, 2012 at 7:06 am
@Tyler Tiberius Kirk: I’m sorry that you only have one eye.
March 1, 2012 at 7:46 am
Virtual reality induced by stimulating brainwaves is the next after 3D. that woudl be cool if it worked properly ofc.
March 1, 2012 at 7:59 am
I thought this was a legit video review on the 3d glasses… Instead I got small-talk and an abrupt ending… I am trying to stay away from this site until the movie is complete in the hopes the website will get the attention it used too. This could have been saved and used in a much more worthwhile way in a future “AVGN” but I feel silly even saying that. I feel like ignoring the nerd episodes for so long while working on the movie is going to mean one of two things. The film is not going to focus on the Nerd like we all thought and instead will be more about the actual James Rolfe and his back-story… OR it will be about the nerd as expected, and only the die-hard fans who could maintain an interest in a series that seems dead in the water will be buying the film. (hopefully not the case)
I am not trying to be a little troll and say More AVGN! I fully understand how the project could become tiresome, trite, and overdone to the artist. But I also think it is James’s claim to fame whether he likes to admit it or not. And “AVGN” is in my opinion the best possible viral marketing he could possibly have for his future movie project. It brings in the viewers! I started out with AVGN and later moved on to watch all his horror reviews and indie films. And I enjoyed them exponentially! BUT!!! It is just as disheartening to see that James clearly has a case of “Spock Syndrome” where he seems tired of the one thing that got him his acclaim. That and his tireless work and effort of course!
I am still a fan and still have faith the site will return to its former glory AND I have faith that no matter what. The film will be a vision of James’s. And that alone is worth witnessing. That creative spark is what inspired many of my newer hobbies, and rekindled a few old ones!
If James can just have fun with the AVGN series like he clearly used to… Instead of making each new episode bigger and better than the next just focus on the game and not the video itself. James is naturally talented and now has fame and standards. But that does not mean you have to stop having fun!
Sure us fans are loudmouths and jerks with kind and nasty things to say… But before we were around it was just James and a fun idea that grew and grew. Keep that idea your own and always let it be what YOU want it to be. Not us. It might bring back some of the fun that was lost along the way…
Live Long & Prosper Captain
March 1, 2012 at 8:02 am
I did not realize how wordy my post was… Whoopsie! =D
March 1, 2012 at 8:46 am
@DaveMcGrath This is from the DVD special features. Might as well have a few nice filler bits while James is busy working on the film. Mike is doing a great job with MFM and Game Glitches. Besides, this is Cinemassacre.com, not AVGN.com.
March 1, 2012 at 8:54 am
@DaveMcGrath dude…it was way better than NOTHING, which is what is on right now. I’m happy.
March 1, 2012 at 8:56 am
@DaveMcGrath What the hell are you talking about? James is away, hard at work on the movie so Mike has taken over. In this case they posted some old material that not a lot of fans may have seen.
Get off your high horse.
March 1, 2012 at 9:21 am
@DaveMcGrath 1. James has stated a thousand times that it will be about the Nerd character going out into the world, so saying that it’s gonna be another James Rolfe backstory thing, even though he’s moved out to California and begun casting and location scouting for a feature film about the character makes this option pretty unlikely. He’s also stated that if you want a “cinematic” Nerd episode, reminiscent of the movie, check out the Rob the Robot or Nintendo World Championships episode.
More Nerd episodes would be great marketing if it weren’t for the fact that he’s still got to film the movie, itself, which is both time-consuming and expensive. Maybe he’ll do some small Nerd videos during the marketing phase of the project and make appearances in other videos. That’d be great.
He’s obviously /not/ tired of the character, because he’s essentially putting together an entire film production based on the character, which isn’t an easy thing to do, and to make an entire feature film with a quarter-million dollar budget *funded by fans* is a pretty ridiculous thing to do if you want to get away from said character.
Lastly, he makes his videos bigger and better not because he feels he has a standard to set, but because he wants to make them bigger and better, because he’s always said he’s a filmmaker before a gamer and that’s his passion in life.
Have faith in James, because he will deliver something truly epic 😀
Also, wordy posts for the win? Probably not.
March 1, 2012 at 7:28 pm
@BrandonSmith For the most part I appreciate the input and criticism. But the last line has me scratching my head.
That aside I also hope for the best when the movie is finally finished.
Thanks you for being clever and not just jumping down my throat for posting something other than “I WUV IT” I cant stand when folks rage at a post that is something other than repetitive ass-kissing. I compliment James constantly but I also like to share thoughts on here as well. I make a effort to be kind and offer support as well as criticisms. And any intelligent reader will see this.
March 1, 2012 at 10:10 am
@DaveMcGrath first off, the movie is going to be very much focused on the nerd, not james. the comparison he always makes is wayne’s world from snl to the wayne’s world movie. secondly, it’s a pair of fucking 3D glasses, what else is there to say? and did you not just see that 15 minute long review of the VR stuntmaster? sheesh how needy are you?
March 1, 2012 at 7:24 pm
@KohlDayvhis I actually said I am not on the site often. So no I have not seen the VR review. Thanks for being a butthead about your response though. All that aside I will check the video out.
March 1, 2012 at 10:32 am
@DaveMcGrath You have encountered a very wordy Troll, “Fuck this”
