Chaney got screwed! I demand a recount. Ah well, at least this means we get Lugosi v. Karloff, right? Poe films.

Wow, this one stretched out for quite a while. I honestly didn’t know who would win.

Clearly I think James is keeping Bela Lugosi for the greatest match up of all, Bela Lugosi vs Boris Karloff. Now that would be the one to watch.

Nice matchup, keep them coming!

Would be great to see the attributes you would give each of the Titans of Terror. I remember playing Top Trumps Horror pack as a kid. The attributes used were ‘Physical Strength’, ‘Fear Factor’, ‘Killing Power’ and Horror Rating’
You can se all the cards here

I think Christopher Lee could cream Bela Lugosi in a vampire fight. Mind you, good on Bela for winning this one!
November 9, 2011 at 11:48 am
Aww.. I feel like Lon Chaney Jr. got cheated a little. I mean, I expected Bela Lugosi to win, I just didn’t expect him to win the way he did. Dang. A lot of tension though. 2 draws, entering sudden death, yet ANOTHER draw! Sudden death x2!
I guess on to the semi-finals!

I think its kind of Bullshit that Lon Chaney did not get credit for the first one although he survived. He might have been cursed but he still lives. Then when Bela Lugosi survives in The Black Sheep its considered a win for him? I think that is a bit unfair to be honest. I understand that maybe the majority of the moves they were in resulted in draws, but I think think that giving one credit for survival and not giving credit for another regardless of the circumstances is simply…bullshit. Now don’t think I am just hating I love all this guys work and been watching his videos since 2006. I’m waiting for the movie and I am really excited. its just this one issue that annoys me, thats all.

Wait a minute he kills Lugosi in The Wolfman but doesn’t count because he gets the disease but Lugosi wins because he swaps brains with him. Sorry but doesn’t that make him blind and lead to is death which would be as equally as bad as the first one. I think you’re playing favorites here if you’re gonna go by deaths and not ailments.

If you say Bella en Lon got a draw in the first movie. Shouldn’t Lon win every fight after that, it was my impression he wanted to die… So when he takes down Bella and himself each time, shouldn’t that be considered as a victory?
November 9, 2011 at 1:35 pm
Come on folks, Bela removed Jr’s brain and took over his body. It’s not survival, but rather that he completely wiped out Jr.

Even if you had considered Chaney the winner of Round 1, with Lugosi winning Round 4, it would’ve been a tie. Bummer.
November 9, 2011 at 4:26 pm
I think there should be a loser bracket 😉
November 9, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Lon Chaney was CLEARLY the winner in The Wolfman. Way too much of a stretch. You obviously just wanted Bela to win, which I understand, but I think a different method should have been used.

I don’t know James. I think this one was too close to call and we need to see Karloff vs Lugosi and Karloff vs Chaney
November 9, 2011 at 7:32 pm
Some people are taking this way too seriously. Just enjoy the video!
James makes up the rules anyhow ;).
I really love this whole idea. Been enjoying those videos a lot.

We are enjoying it. Part of the fun is posting your thoughts. That’s why the option is here, not just to throw love and agreement at him unconditionally.
November 9, 2011 at 7:59 pm
I think this wasn’t a fair fight. Techinally Lugosi didn’t kill Chaney. It was the surgon who we can sorta say killed Chaney by taking out his brain. Maybe Chaney’s brain became the Fiend without a Face. So I think this should’ve been a tie from the beginning.
November 9, 2011 at 8:58 pm
Lugosi… the only logical choice. 😉
Actually though, I expected this one to be a stalemate. Even before I watched it, all I could think was, “didn’t they BOTH die in each movie they were in together??”
I forgot about THE WOLFMAN, though…
November 10, 2011 at 2:33 pm
yeah, i kinda feel like chaney got screwed here. i mean if lugosi gets a win for outliving chaney in the black sleep. shouldn’t chaney get a win for outliving/killing lugosi in the wolf man? and in the ghost of frankenstein…i mean chaney is the one still on screen at the end.
idk in my mind chaney won.
November 10, 2011 at 3:44 pm
Yep, James is definitely playing favorites in this tourney. Kinda sucks. I wanted to see who actually killed who the most and see who came out on top.
November 12, 2011 at 7:09 pm
Nice one, James!
November 14, 2011 at 11:50 pm
I think chaney get screwced over he should have goten a point for the first round. Anyway good fight.
November 17, 2011 at 1:30 pm
Chaney should have won a point for Abbot and Costello for sure. If Bela wanting to die made that one a draw, then Chaney being willing to die to kill Dracula obviously makes him the victor for that one. The whole movie, heck all the movies he is the Wolfman, he hates himself and in some of them wishes he could just die. So if you assume they die at the end of A&C then Chaney wins that one.

This one wasn’t very definitive and very much a stretch, as stated, and it looks like it has even caused a bit of controversy! Haha… well, at the end of the day, this is just for fun, and not saying who is better than the other. Either way, I enjoyed this look back at horror history.
