Funny as allways… but dont say you haven’t seen another movie were somebody rips some balls of what about Sin City?

  • July 8, 2011 at 8:48 am

Man I’d watch a B movie with you guys any day. That was very funny. Especially that spitting commentary and the bit about Mr Miyagi VS Godzilla. ( : Me and my friends occasionally watch crappy movies like The Core or Dead or Alive (The movie based on the game) and laugh all the way through. We still have to watch the Street Fighter movie (based on the game). Yup, I never watch that movie o_O

  • July 8, 2011 at 9:09 am

i dont kno if its me but the audio on the vid seems really really quiet :/

  • July 8, 2011 at 9:10 am

my friend did that to me last week
you guys have to to return of the street fighter. i have to know how it ends

  • July 8, 2011 at 9:12 am

Actually a violent version of the three stooges has been done in South Park! Episode 150 (season 10 ep.11): “Hell on Earth 2006” Check it out!

  • July 8, 2011 at 9:12 am

Why don’t you make that movie with the around the world jump kick?? You’re a film maker!

  • BobJohnson

  • Evan

    July 8, 2011 at 9:39 am

I totally remember the Volkswagen game you guys mentioned, though where I’m from it’s known as “slug bug”. There was also a game involving punching a friend and saying “cockeye” when you see a car with only one working headlight, and one where you karate chop someone in the throat when you see a Hummer H2. The last one wasn’t too popular, probably because it really fucking hurts. You weren’t supposed to declare anything either, it was more about just administering pain.

    Patsploitation. Hahaha.

  • viJilance

    July 8, 2011 at 9:42 am

my god why’d you even waste your time watching this assfuck?

  • Loseirdo

    July 8, 2011 at 10:12 am

James and Mike, have you guys ever considered doing a feature-length commentary, a la Rifftrax? I rather think the two of you are funnier than they are.

  • Dolly Dagger

    July 8, 2011 at 10:39 am

So now the logical next step is for James and Mike to make a Pat-sploitation movie of their own called Enter The Loogie.

It should be nothing but slow-mo scenes of the two of them making spit faces and red Kool-Aid spraying when they finally spit at each other. And someone’s balls being ripped off. Naturally. πŸ™‚

    July 8, 2011 at 10:48 am

Been a while since I’ve logged in and posted a comment, but I come back from time to time to check up in the site, and I REALLY enjoyed this segment you and Mike made. Got a rare copy of that Sonny Chiba “Street Fighter” flick myself, and I bought it for a song at a Japanese accessory department store, hehe! Now that you put this up, I feel compelled to rewatch the thing myself (only seen it once too, and I barely remember it, haha!)! Good job guys, and you still remain funny and an inspiration!;)

    July 8, 2011 at 10:54 am

Hey jim do a commentary on the shitty ass fuck mario brothers movie!!! That would be gold

  • xdeathknightx

    July 8, 2011 at 11:03 am

Oh my god Mike saw Violent Shit… one of the only movies I had to turn off because it was so damn bad. The dubbing was so shit.

This movie looks awesome but looks like it is a riffing movie where you just discuss stuff like mike and james did

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:15 am

    Oh, that’s right!

  • ShadowThePika

    July 8, 2011 at 11:27 am

Looks like this film blew his balls off. (of course the black guy had to die, he’s the black guy. Why else would he be in a japanese movie?)

that was awesome. I say that next you should do a commentary on Masked Rider the First. Why? Why not, it’s f**king awesome. People getting killed all over, a sweet flying kick move like in this film (except it’s actually effective), and it’s KAMEN RIDER! That warrants a commentary!

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:32 am

Wooow that movie was dramatic. Seemed pretty gory too for something in the early 70’s.

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:39 am

Nice commentary! I had to watch it now because I watched all these three films some time ago. We got ’em released here in Europe as three-pack set and even in original language. About that last fight too, the guy’s vocal cord actually is torn out from his throat, it will be mentioned in sequel. Well I don’t know if they say that thing in dubbed version though.

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:47 am

Great use of highlights from the movie though your discussion on the color of blood in movies went a little too long.

I’ll admit the other two Street Fighter movies were pretty boring so I don’t know how you guys can make it better with your riffing unless you can try it.

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:56 am

This was hilarious! Honestly, the whole thing with the Godzilla fight made this video worth watching. You could have taken out the movie and not called it a commentary and it wouldn’t have mattered, it still would have been great.

  • July 8, 2011 at 11:56 am

I agree with pro1137, the jumpkick around the world would be an excellent film for next time! I totally watch that!

  • July 8, 2011 at 12:02 pm

I mean referencing. I don’t know how that word got changed. I know I didn’t spell conferencing. I have no clue how that changed. Weird…

  • Mr. Vermin

    July 8, 2011 at 12:05 pm

I also remember the “punch buggy” game as “slug bug” but I had never heard of it until I had lived in Wisconsin, I’m not sure if there were different versions depending on area (Wisconsin also calls water fountains “bubblers”) but yeah, I remember the reference as well.

These videos are awesome though. I imagine they must take less time and effort (I would think anyways) than a typical episode of AVGN or something else, but they are awesome to watch so keep them coming! Its awesome to see what comes out organically while just sitting and watching something.

I can speak conversational Japanese anyways, if I could describe how to say “Toei” it would be like, “Toh-ay”. “e” in Japanese sounds like you’re saying the letter “A” and the “i” is like saying the letter “E”. just a fun fact XB

  • TomM

    July 8, 2011 at 12:22 pm

That was extremely funny. I loved the Mr. Miyagi and Godzilla part. Love to actually watch that. I do remember the Punch Buggy game; it was a dumb fad. There was also another game with the same idea. Anyone remember the PT Cruiser game?

  • cheezdoodle96

    July 8, 2011 at 12:27 pm

James & Mike, you should do a commentary on Rikki-Oh or Tokyo Gore Police, so that we can see if they’re more gory than The Street Fighter =)

Please give Return Of Street Fighter a chance, it was significantly better than the first one. Plus it has just as much crazy shit in it…like a a guy getting punched in the back of the head and his eyeball goes flying across the room from the force of the punch.

Also the punch buggy game was definitely around in New York 80’s – 90’s
Whats funny is I was walking down the street and heard a little kid hit his friend and say punch buggy. So I guess they’re still doin it.

  • n3b4

    July 8, 2011 at 12:54 pm

I know punch buggy and I was born in 93. Moved to the US in 2000 and I probably heard it around 2001.. Weird thing is that some guy punch buggyd me a few days ago… crazy

  • Flama

    July 8, 2011 at 1:09 pm

You should watch and comment on “UchΕ« kara no MessΔ“ji” A message from space which has Sonny Chiba as a lead character.
Since you are both fans of Star Wars, you can’t ignore that movie because it’s very similar with a low budget !
I have the series in DVD but the movie sums up everything…

We used to play the same game with VW beetles, but we would say “SLUG BUG!” Now I drive an old beetle, and I’m a little heartbroken that they no longer have the same ability to cause impromptu violence.

  • July 8, 2011 at 5:23 pm

    That was hilarious.
    Lmfao goofiest ending ever. xD

But people do still play that like, “See x car, punch y times”.
My cousins play “banana” where they punch eachother every time they see a yellow car. πŸ˜›

Brilliant comment, Mike. “What kind of hero goes around punching women in the face?”

James’ movie idea, the global jump kick thing, was hilarious.

  • July 8, 2011 at 6:38 pm

James watch the new episode of Futurama! they did the 3d joke! Bendar throws a sandwich at the screen and the message pops up “Put on your 3d glasses one minute ago”

    was really funny

  • The Kaleidoscopic God

Isn’t there a ball scene in Planet Terror? I just barely remember it, but didn’t Tarantino’s CGI balls dropped out of his pants or something? Only thing I remember, that comes close. Still wondering though, did he felt the pulse of the guy during that move?? What an awkward and disturbing way to die, almost mortal kombat-eske..

    July 9, 2011 at 12:05 am

In responce to the “Punch Buggy” game ,in Texas in the late 80’s early 90’s it was called ‘Slug Bug” also with the hittting of the arm. Also there was “Popeye” wher the first person to see a car with one headlight out would call “Popeye” and hit the roof of the vechile ,also with the same result. But if you got five they owed you five dollers:)

  • July 9, 2011 at 12:05 am

My copy of this has Street Fighter, Return of the Street Fighter and Ancient Fistory – yes that is a Popeye cartoon.

  • July 9, 2011 at 12:20 am

You know who should play Sonny Chiba in James and Mike’s rendition of “The Street Fighter”? Jim Cary. He’s the only one with classic over the top facial expressions that could match Chiba’s XD . At least in my opinion it would work.

  • cylentshadow

  • July 9, 2011 at 3:27 am

I’d really like to see that in a movie. A guy who doesn’t stop kick flying round the world. Hillariously funny!

  • n3b4

    July 9, 2011 at 10:03 am

LMAOOOOO about the part with the 3d glasses… there was a joke just about that in Futurama season 6 episode 17..

  • July 9, 2011 at 10:06 am

There was a ball ripping off shot in Demons 2 when the bodybuilders are fighting the demons in the parking garage. That black guy with the awesome voice gets his balls ripped off by one of the demons.

It is close, but Slave of the Cannibal God has a scene of a guy getting his cock cut off although that might have been lifted from some other movie because I’ve seen it used in a few 70s Italian Cannibal films.

  • July 9, 2011 at 12:10 pm

dawn of the dead used some sort of theater blood from 3M (M3?) and it looked all orange – some say it makes the movie better cuss it adds to the cartoony feel of the movie… some shit like that – i lve the movie anyways πŸ™‚

and speaking of balls – Cannibal Holocaust shows ball being cut off – oh yea I said it!

  • Dolly Dagger

    July 9, 2011 at 2:40 pm

@ STALEPIE – Did you really just correct James’ spelling when you didn’t correctly spell the name of someone you’re insulting (Mike’s last name is spelled M-a-t-e-i).

  • Hangin10

    July 9, 2011 at 10:34 pm

The punch bug thing has been in VW commercials a lot recently. They ruined it by not having any bugs in the commercials (that I have seen, anyway). They just say “red one” and *bam*, no matter what type of VW it was.

As for balls, in the movie The Big Red One, a replacement private ends up needing replacement privates when he steps on a landmine. The Sarge explains the mine is not suppose to kill and pulls out one of the guy’s balls. “That’s why God gave ya two.”

i used to do the “punch buggy (insert color here)” thing with my older siblings. I’m the youngest of 5, so it was the only legitimate way I could get a punch in without facing any sort of terrible consequences.

After a while, it seemed as though “slug bug” took over as the new slogan and get-out-of-jail-free card for punching people after seeing a VW Beetle.

    July 10, 2011 at 5:30 pm

Lol. I remember a few years back I was really in the mood to watch martial arts films, and I ended up watching Street Fighter, Return of the Street Fighter, and Sister Street Fighter (a spin-off that only briefly has Sony Chiba in it) in addition to the my regulars The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, and Enter The Dragon.

There is another film with Sonny Chiba that I know of, Ninja Wars (1984). I’ve only seen part of it, but you may find this and an interesting watch.

James and Mike great video as always,
allow me to explain the whole thing where it looks like he is
trying to pull a loogy . In martial arts its a technique in breathing control to inhale slowly while putting pressure on the diafram is helps to regain your breath and slower your hreat rate. In Kyokushin karate this is refered to as
Ibuki – (Breathing tension technique) We are also instructed that it helps
to center your Ki energy (refered to as Chi on the asian contenent and Ki in japan)

  • tylerdurden389

    July 11, 2011 at 1:37 am

When you guys mentioned Morita fighting Godzilla I immediately thought ‘Hmm. That could probably be done easily with AfterEffects”. And of course you both came to that conclusion a minute later lol. Also, i hadn’t thought of the “punch buggy’ fad in well over a decade even though we all used to do it all the time.

lastly, when I was growing up, my dad would imitate karate moves and he would always make those stupid throat clearing sounds. Seeing as how we have this movie on dvd, I now know where he got it from lol.

Great Commentary…but wheres the BEER? be funny if you guys were drinking too.

  • July 11, 2011 at 2:49 am

Wow, I’ve only commented like once before a long time ago XD Yeah, I have this movie, it was a gift that had a bunch of Sonny Chiba flicks and footage of the early Bruce Lee movies when he was a little kid.

The Street Fighter was actually a trilogy, “The Street Fighter”, “Return of The Street Fighter”, and “The Street Fighter’s Last Revenge”. All of them are public domain (though Last Revenge is HEAVILY edited because the only dubbed version was distribuited by Miramax I think at that time in the states, it’s 3am and my memory is fuzzy, and there are no directors cut available, unless Japan has released something, I dunno). Not to mention the “Sister Street Fighter” spin-off that has it’s own trilogy but not at all related to the Sonny Chiba ones (though he does appear in the first one, but not as the same character as his Street Fighter movie…chronologically confusing, I know).

Sorry if I rambled on too long, this is one of my fave flicks and it this was an awesome video XD

Here in Germany we had our own version of the punch buggy red thing when I was younger in the early 2000s. We used to pinch each other when we saw a yellow car but you could really apply it to all sorts of cars just to be a dick.

    Promise Me This (2007)
    Zavet (original title)

Is a movie about a kid who is finding a fiance before his uncle dies. There is a scene in which a guy is like a human canon Ball, and then he keeps flying in the air during the rest of the movie. It’s an amazing movie, you should watch it, James.

  • July 12, 2011 at 5:21 pm

    This movie is….. Sick?
Although it is over the top, it is actually a common practice in Karate to make that hissing noise when tensing your muscles and getting ready to take a punch. You take a deep breath, then tense all your muscles, including your lungs which in turn forces the air out of your strained throat. Or some such. But still, this is over done.

  • July 12, 2011 at 7:28 pm

I have this flick! got it in a box set with a couple of sonny chiba movies and a couple of bruce lee ones too.
the whole box set cost me five bucks!!!!!!!
the thing has about 10 movies all together.

they also made sister of the street fighter.
which is pretty lame compared to the other two movies.
but if you really think about it…they are all pretty lame.
for todays standards at least…good flick if you like old ball tearing martial arts movies.

James you had a question about the Blood.

The only red pigments of the time were either highly toxic, lead based, or would stain human skin on contact.

Its an easy thing to make a viscous fluid that is thick enough and colored right, but it is useless to use on set if it kills or stains the skin of your actor with an effective tattoo that will prevent any pickups for the next 3-6 months.

  • January 1, 2014 at 2:15 am

James, this film was released in America back in 1975 or 1974 but first Toei (the company made the original Japanese Spider-Man TV Series) released the film in japan in 1974, but Before it was today The Hobbit & Lord Of The Rings, the company who distributed lord of the rings and the hobbit New Line Cinema acquired the rights to the film and release it with some edits made for a R-Rated Cut. But for the last many years as New Line continues their journey on Street Fighter films stars sonny Chiba also they would distribute Sister Street Figher (U.S Title), but in 1995, New Line Cinema’s home video division “New Line Home Video” would distribute the first film and the later films on VHS & laserdisc, the first film would be released in a letterbox format or a fullscreen format, or again being released in it’s uncensored version. As years later, I would guess New Line Cinema would lose the rights and a lot of home video companies would release it on DVD, I saw the street fighter DVD from Diamond
Entertainment. This film is public domain and really the internet owns it. But someday New Line Cinema would own the rights to the trilogy again someday.

I just wikipedia’ed punch buggy and apparently it dates back to the 60’s and there are like a million variations on the game. I learned it in the 90’s. Someone should do a survey of the population to see how widespread it is. I bet it’s near 100% in this part of the world.

  • February 23, 2014 at 2:11 am

I totally forgot about punch buggy.

  • May 5, 2014 at 4:03 am

I do actually remember that “punch buggy” thing. Except everyone I knew called it “slug-bug”. Probably just a difference in region. Like ‘pop’ in my area is called ‘soda water’ in other places. And yet despite the name difference the main concept for slug-bug is the same, physically assault someone when you see a certain kind of car. WTF were we thinking as kids lol. I guess we just needed something, nay anything, to do.

What I find really interesting about this movie is that the protagonist is actually a very amoral anti-hero. Yes, he protected the girl (Sarai), but he did also hit a woman (Nachi) and sold her into sexual slavery.
