Turtle Talk

Mike / June 28th, 2011

Originally, an outtake from Generation TMNT. We filmed lots of footage which I didn’t know what to do with at the time.

Loving the huge TMNT series of videos!

  • RichardMontalban

    June 28, 2011 at 1:01 am

I love you James and I love AVGN and I love all things Cinemassacre… but when are you going to stop with the TMNT? Enough! Geez… you should change the name of the site to TMNTmassacre. That’s all you ever talk about anymore. I feel like I’m drowning in a Turtle jizz bukkaki. My God! I can’t wait to see some new AVGN. I can’t wait until Monster Madness.

  • June 28, 2011 at 1:01 am

i liked Bladimir’s speech at the end.

  • Analbag Thats Me

    June 28, 2011 at 1:55 am

One question: is that guy’s name really Bladimir? Not Vladimir?? hahaha

I love Turtle Tuesdays! Always look forward to it right before I go to sleep Monday night.

Don’t hate me for saying this but I have a Netflix account and saw that Power Rangers is on the instant queue. I was wondering if you ever watched PR and if you’d talk about it in a video if you did?

  • June 28, 2011 at 2:16 am

Hey James, what do you use to video capture all your older systems? I really would love to know!

  • Gunflyer

    June 28, 2011 at 2:28 am

I always wanted to see a Transformers vs TMNT crossover… and even though I am pretty much apathetic to both of those factions, I still want to see the Transformers stomp TMNT into the pavement.

  • Davers

    June 28, 2011 at 2:51 am

This is awesome. I had most of the toys shown as well. Really wish my mom never gave them away. This TMNT series has been a lot of fun to watch. Keep it up!

  • June 28, 2011 at 2:54 am

I like Bladimir. Is he still a close friend of yours, James? I totally agree with him about the aspect of why children make up imaginary friends and why they make up imaginary scenarios with toys. I remember when I was a kid I used to take my bicycle and put playing cards in my spokes or crushed coke cans between the frame and top portion of my back tired to make my bike sound like a motorcycle, or at least to my ears it did. I did all that to make myself feel more grown up and in control of what was not always something I could control, my life. Thanks for sharing James. I hope you and Bladimir are still friends and still talk constantly. If you two are and then you should put him in your AVGN movie or an upcoming episode.

  • June 28, 2011 at 2:56 am

This is all we get for Turtle Tuesday?… Seriously, this video blows.

James I love Turtle Tuesdays and I love the original series. However I was wondering if your ever going to give a shout out to the more recent series. I know its not as popular or well known as the original but the first few seasons did follow the comic pretty well. Just a though.

  • Chris-R.

    June 28, 2011 at 5:42 am

@RichardMontalban: rofl mate, your post just made me laugh more than TMNTmassacre has the past few weeks; I couldn’t agree more. Turtle jizz bukkaki, indeed. Although, you must know where James stands in regards to AVGN (film and that) and MonsterMadness (it’s not Oktober yet), so I guess my point is: fuck it, Mr. Rolfe is a genius and can do whatever he wants, and that is that. We may not like it, but many distinguished guests of this site apparently do.

  • June 28, 2011 at 6:49 am

Hey James, i was wondering in your next turtle video if you would talk about the episode of Power Rangers where they meet the Ninja Turtles its not very well known episode but it would be cool to see you talk about it. thanks.

    June 28, 2011 at 6:53 am

    That was pretty boring.

  • June 28, 2011 at 7:51 am

I concur. This video brings back memories… I can’t believe how many of those I recognized…. and what he said at the end there was all so true.

    June 28, 2011 at 8:13 am

Slack video… I sense the nerd video is coming out…Friday 1st July? or 4th July Monday?

  • June 28, 2011 at 9:13 am

The Transformer is pretty random but fitting since the new Transformers movie comes out this week. I’m sure you’ll go see it James and have mixed opinions about it but from what I’ve heard is that it might be the best of the three films!

Turtle tuesday, keep up the good work James!

  • viJilance

    June 28, 2011 at 9:48 am

actually kinda funny, back in 1994 when i was 5, my imaginary friends were all of the turtles. I even made my parents hold the car door open longer for them to come with me.

  • Linearmode

    June 28, 2011 at 10:15 am

simply put, i liked this video.

  • June 28, 2011 at 10:36 am

I have to admit, not being a turtles fan I too am beginning to grow tired of Turtles Tuesday. Though the Board James episode was very welcome.

Obviously James is free to do what he wants, but as a fan I would love to see some other stuff.

  • PorkFrydRice

    June 28, 2011 at 11:21 am

Well I’m glad one of these videos finally pointed out the strangeness of the body on the original Shredder action figure, insanely skinny and muscular at the same time. But I just wanna know how that Transformer found his way into the video???

  • June 28, 2011 at 11:54 am

you guys were such nerds back then lol

but nerds are cool so who cares

  • phoenix_shade

    June 28, 2011 at 11:57 am

I too found the video dull, yet it’s relatable to my childhood so that’s not a big deal.

Am also curious about how you capture your games.

    Tellll usssssssssssssssss

    June 28, 2011 at 12:10 pm

Good little vid. The monologue at the end about playtime was spot-on…that’s why so many of today’s children are so unhappy. Their parents set up “play dates”, when playing is something that’s supposed to be totally spontaneous.

  • cloob1

    June 28, 2011 at 12:38 pm

I want to come over and play with all those…

  • Bamahut

    June 28, 2011 at 1:16 pm

I really like the end, your friend is quiet right kids like to feel like they’re in control of something. I guess toys let them explore this! This is quiet deep.

Man if April was real… I would totally throw it in her.

  • AnAddictedGamer

    June 28, 2011 at 3:09 pm

PROTIP: James isn’t some miracle multitasker who can make a Board James/YKWB/AVGN/Review/Top 10/OA episode every week WHILE working on the movie and just dealing with whatever stuff he wants to do in his free time. The negative comment guys need to chill out and just enjoy what they get for free.

    Nice vid btw.

I had that lumberjack Ghostbusters figure. It was shockingly bad. Only the arms move and that stupid flip head. Just awful.

    June 28, 2011 at 5:11 pm

Turtle Tuesday! Awesome idea, I used to be a huge turtle fan. These vids really bring back the memories. Like damn my parents for selling all my turtles when I went to college!! Anyway, I’m really glad someone finally mentioned the general oddness of the Shredder figure. Why is he a hunchback? Why is his armor purple? Why is most of it missing? Where the hell is his shirt? These are the questions that kept me awake at night as a kid. Sorry for the rant. Thanks again, love the turtle vids.

  • frankblack666

    June 28, 2011 at 5:19 pm

Also, just noticed that your Shredder has blue armor, I guess I had the gayer model.

  • June 28, 2011 at 5:51 pm

Dont take me wrong i love ninja turtles as well they are part of my childhood like yours, but do some other figure or cartoon review once in a while. They are exist out there many other cool toons like thundercats, silver hawks,gi joe, transformers.do a transformers figure review! the joes actualy have some realy intresting past regarding their toy lines, did anyone knows that they started as big action figures like action man? And stuff like that.Dont get stuck in one thing make other reviews to rich your shows.

My roommate and I always sit down and watch turtle tuesdays. I don’t know who mentioned the power ranger meets ninja turtles episode, but I def hope he covers that in one of these episodes. So bizarre!

  • Dolly Dagger

    June 28, 2011 at 10:46 pm

I agree with Bladimir…everyone does enjoy pretend play, regardless of age.

I won’t say exactly what kind of pretend play, because that could go down a really kinky road pretty quickly.

    June 29, 2011 at 12:10 am

Being a nerd is not at all cool. That is the point of being a nerd. Nerds have just become more accepted by society as people realized that nerds are usually very successful. I am a proud nerd and I don’t expect people to think my video game hobby is cool.

  • Stonen

    June 29, 2011 at 12:57 am

LOL Gak! I remember that ooze stuff. lol

  • The Shamster

    June 29, 2011 at 2:20 am

When I had these toys, I painted the parts that were meant to be silver with the corresponding paint to make them look better…I also painted the Real Ghostbusters proton packs black (and all the colored pannels and buttons with nifty colours).

I did quite a good job. I even drew a very clever ‘painting’ of Vigo that is twice the size of the figurines.

Shame I gave them all away years ago. You should never get rid of your childhood toys, they are part of your youth and bring back good memories.

    June 29, 2011 at 10:10 am

    OMG!!! **True Story***

I had that mutagent ooze in a little trashcan thing for a very long time and it grew some kind of white goo inside it. I would open it once a week to look inside and found that the white (goo? fungus?) had moved to a different spot. Sometimes it couldn’t be seen as in it had shifted to the bottom. Huge gross out factor.

One day a cousin of mine who has down syndrome picked it up and poured it on his head!! I was really mad and not at all concerned for his safety. He was fine anyways after some washing. I never got to find out what ultimately happens to that ooze over years and years πŸ™

    June 29, 2011 at 11:30 am

That was a fun little video. Your friend is probably right, all kids/people have liked toys one way or another.

  • June 29, 2011 at 12:08 pm

the last part of this was like a documentary.

  • June 29, 2011 at 4:38 pm

Oh James, so much videos about TMNT… Do something cool and creative as you can! It’s not already interestingl. I like your works, not some boring kid toys or stories about cartoon that I never liked… πŸ™

  • June 29, 2011 at 8:28 pm

Wow, was not expecting that keen insight at the end. Great video! Watch it all the way to the end, everyone!

  • toxikhiro

    June 29, 2011 at 10:11 pm

I gotta agree with Richard and EvilTKat. This video suddenly felt very insightful at the end. Not the tone I’m used to from Cinemassacre, but not a bad thing at all! Good video!

    @Cyril ViXP

Sounds like your just leaving an asshole comment. YOU never liked tmnt so he should stop making videos about it? Well maybe if you send him a top 10 list of your favorite things he will make videos about those. Maybe he can just rename the website Cyril ViXP.com just for you his best fan.

I’ve been enjoying your TMNT videos, but now it’s getting quite out of hand. They would be vety interesting if you could give us some more information about the show. I don’t get half of the stuff you’re talking about. Remember, the show aired during the 80’s and most of your fans was born during the early 90’s, as myself.
I get it’s a wonderful series of episodes for those who watched the series, because we can imagine how great it would be if you did a series of episodes about PokΓ©mon, but most of us don’t get it.
You can keep making these videos, of course. A lot of people like them. But, just a tip, make them a bit more informative so we who didn’t grow up with the series can understand and enjoy your videos as well.

With that said, I love your work. Been on the site since 2007 and seen every video you’ve posted. Looking forward to the main feature!

    @ Cowboy:

This is an old video he probably just had sitting on an old hard drive somewhere. It’s not like this is taking time away from his other endeavors (which I assume you find more interesting), it’s just a nice short little video he felt like putting up.

  • stevejke

You can buy DVDs and watch them. Can be a little time consuming, though.
Seriously guys, TMNT was like the best thing ever when I was a child.
    Keep’em coming James.
