James / May 21st, 2011

  • May 21, 2011 at 1:35 am

Your the best james!! Glad to see your still here during the rapture, such a shame so many people believe that.

  • Veio

    May 21, 2011 at 1:36 am

    That’s why torrents rock 🙂

    • June 20, 2014 at 7:16 pm

fuck yes or the digital copy of a movie bought in an online store… fuck the fucking DVDs and BLURAYS and their fucking trailers and cumbersome menus that begs for your gun and fucking shoot the TV even if the TV has no blame i just wanna fucking shoot it … okay im done

  • May 21, 2011 at 1:36 am

Good video James, I think I cracked a xbox 360 disc and some dvds are a pain in the ass that sometimes I don’t even put them in the case all the way for fear they might break. You are right they can be bullshit =)

  • May 21, 2011 at 1:37 am

ps you know what else is BULLSHIT …the rapture

  • lcvolt

    May 21, 2011 at 1:40 am

ia haven’t laughed this hard on any cinemassacre video since i dont know when hahahaha whooops whooops hhaha

i t was really funny, even though some parts look like rough cuts

  • ownflame

    May 21, 2011 at 1:49 am

Did anyone noticed the red word typed “you” in the right corner of video?
And it’s like, you know what’s bullshit? well it’s you

  • May 21, 2011 at 1:52 am

I instinctively snap those stupid lil locking tabs off…I warn people who loan me dvds….I’m totally unaware i’m doing it til it’s too late…lol

  • May 21, 2011 at 2:39 am

I would like to find the person at Universal that thought that pressing down on the fucking blu-rays for the Back To the Future trilogy was a good idea! Seriously, who thought that would be a great idea?

It’s nothing more than a royal pain in the fucking ass!!

The DVD cases that have the flaps on the sides don’t really bother me as much though, and the blu-ray cases as well as the DVD cases that have that protective thing that goes over them doesn’t bother me as much either.

  • buckfutter

    May 21, 2011 at 2:54 am

since you’re on the topic of cases.
Lets talks about how moronic Sony is.
dvd/ps2/xbox/xbox360/gamecube/wii ALL the same sived cases.
PS3…completely fucking different. When I put all my games in chronological order on my shelf the ps3 games look like complete Ass next to their predecessors.
    Fuck you Sony

  • Karate Kid Icarus

    May 21, 2011 at 3:01 am

You did good James. I enjoy these. The editing was quick and served it’s purpose. It turns the world around on its ass for a kicking and helps when people don’t have a soapbox.

The amount of money companies spend in Disc Packaging is ridiculous when we just want the disc half the time. They could use that money to employ people and create better movies and so forth.

If we spend the extra money on a special edition pack then FINE…give us the bullshit packaging, but at least give us the option of just a disc and no extra crap for $5 – $10 and that would be fine.

  • buckfutter

    May 21, 2011 at 3:10 am

    I meant sized Obviously.
    “all the same sized cases”*

  • Karate Kid Icarus

    May 21, 2011 at 3:14 am

I just realized this…that Cinderella dvd is probably like that because of children.

What I said above still stands though.

  • YoshiFtJ

    May 21, 2011 at 3:23 am

Yes, what the above user said.

I used to think the same thing about the latches on DVD cases. I later learned that they aren’t latches, but rather locks. My sister used to destroy DVDs when she was younger, but she couldn’t open the cases to the movies with the latches.

  • Michael

    May 21, 2011 at 3:24 am

I been meaning to ask, just out of curiosity (in case I missed an update or blacked out drunk after reading one regarding this), could one of you lovely fans quickly point out whats happening with the next AVGN vid?

In any case, A ‘you know what’s bullshit’ will keep me appeased any day! Keep up the good work 😀

  • Jel-K

    May 21, 2011 at 3:36 am

i see i’m not the only one who seen Gorgeous; horrible movie but very impressive fight scenes

  • Kimmonator

    May 21, 2011 at 4:00 am

    oops oops oops 😀

  • _Marty_

    May 21, 2011 at 4:35 am

    mild one i must say

  • May 21, 2011 at 4:37 am

I have in my hands quite possibly the worst DVD case ever concocted. James, you really should have had one of these for your video. This is Stuart Little 2. And to get inside this case you have to literally cut the fucking case with a pair of scissors three times. I’m not kidding. There’s even little pictures of scissors and the text “cut here” molded into the plastic of the case at each location to cut. What fucktard thought this was a good idea? Thankfully I’ve never seen this repeated in any other movie so far.

  • RocketeerRaccoon

    May 21, 2011 at 5:04 am

I remember way back when you talked about those weird DVD box clippers, I agree why the fuck would you need them since the box can close well without them. The Blu-ray packaging is definite fail, the instructions on how to take the disks out is hilarious. Why can’t they just keep it simple as a normal box case?

  • May 21, 2011 at 5:11 am

    where’s the nerd episode?

  • May 21, 2011 at 5:12 am

I love that you make these YKWB videos again! And I’m happy I haven’t a DVD player but a classic VHS with all it simple to use cassettes 😀

  • Inkrypted

    May 21, 2011 at 5:48 am

Digital Distribution baby! I usually rip all the DVD’s and Blu Rays I buy and use a media server for two reasons,
    1. They are way too easy to destroy.
    2. So I never have to screw with the packaging again.

  • uncolober

    May 21, 2011 at 6:40 am

This is one of the better, angrier videos. YAY

  • superca.in

    May 21, 2011 at 7:04 am

I used to love this show but that thing about the DVD packages is getting old. Im sure there is plenty other things else to complain about, please forget DVDs for a while. So far the best one has been the one about the shoe laces, i felt like if he was reading my mind, thats the kind of videos we want to see.

  • xdeathknightx

    May 21, 2011 at 7:08 am

At least Jackie Chan knows how to make dvd cases for his movies 😉
And you know what’s bullshit, Mike correcting you in the middle of a rant, what a motherfucker 😉

  • Scab

    May 21, 2011 at 7:13 am

Well, i can only assume that designing a good DVD-case was someones job.
They designed the ordinary DVD-case, and it was perfect, but then what?
If they admit that the design is perfect and final, they’re gonna lose their job, so they’re gonna keep making “upgrades” just to stay busy to keep from getting fired.

I think that is why so much software like Windows and Google suck these days: single guys fucking it up out of self interest.

They should make it a law that anything sold comes with a feedback form.
Cause companies have no clue what their clients actually want.

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:15 am

You forgot the new annoying “eco-Boxes”. The ones that cames with the holes on the front an rear plastic, every time that I order a DVD to my country the cover arrives with holes that to this eco-boxass…

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:16 am

I mean “thank to these” sorry…

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:20 am

American movie.. Over produced crap requires over produced case.

Jackie Chan, the movie is enough awesomeness, ez cases.

Glad motherfucker Mike is there to tell you when you got a blu ray.

  • jiminycracken

    May 21, 2011 at 9:28 am

“I think that is why so much software like Windows and Google suck these days: single guys fucking it up out of self interest.”

Firstly, they would not change Windows, or the way Google searches if it happened like this. It takes a huge amount of work and a huge amount of money to do anything.

The reason they do it is for you: the consumer. If Windows didn’t come up with new OS versions every few years, their stocks will fall, it will become outdated, and more will turn to Mac OS X and Linux. Yes, Linux. In Google’s case, they do it to allow you ease of use. The new instant search was to bring you faster results. Even though people responded with mixed feelings, it had been created with good intent.

  • Jimbo

    May 21, 2011 at 9:37 am

DVDs, So much bullshit James had to make 3 episodes about them.

  • Kamdan

    May 21, 2011 at 9:39 am

It’s not that hard to get the BTTF Blu-rays out, but those tabs are the most useless things ever!

  • May 21, 2011 at 9:49 am

Nah, I prefer the Box kind ones.

  • May 21, 2011 at 9:57 am

Hate to say it but this was a crap episode of YKWBS? I don’t like the improvised style and frankly we have seen some of these complaints before (The snappy things and the excessive packaging…twice!)

  • May 21, 2011 at 10:01 am

Those clasps have been the bane of my existence for the longest time.

  • Choxgall

    May 21, 2011 at 10:06 am

So excitied to see another “you know what’s bullshit?” expecting another great vid but what a fail this was. I love all the older ones, but did James even try in this? theres no humor, no effort, and hes laughing doing it, like wow, and worse still hes already covered dvds…what a dissapointment. That was perfectic, sorry…

  • May 21, 2011 at 10:10 am

This was funny, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like this was more one of James and Mikes random videos with the bullshit logo slapped on top.

Doesn’t James usually do a pre-written somewhat fast paced voice over?

  • Darkrai1276

    May 21, 2011 at 10:12 am

whats truly bullshit is all this advertising its everywere on the internet before every video and even on microsoft word jesus christ we get the idea

  • Killua Zaoldyeck

    May 21, 2011 at 10:20 am

I didn’t like this one :S very improvised and theres no editing.

  • macs311

    May 21, 2011 at 10:41 am

I do like more this one because it’s spontaneous. I hate it when James makes episodes that sound all pre-written.

  • handsome pete

    May 21, 2011 at 10:45 am

I see you’re a fan of Ashens? And perhaps Spoony?

  • May 21, 2011 at 10:59 am

I have a Spider-Man collection set that is literally all three discs stting on top of each other with no seperation. I’m afraid to watch them because I’m afraid I’ll ruin the discs. I got the Blade Runner collection with four versions of the same movie from Amazon, and the damn plastic pieces in the center that hold the DVDs were all broken and the discs were just sliding around.

  • ben 10 guy

    May 21, 2011 at 11:33 am

that’s just some bullshit don’t buy bluray movies

  • May 21, 2011 at 11:55 am

Omg I have that Back to the future on Blu-ray I fucking hate that design. Why the holy fuck does it need to work that way?

  • jiminycracken

    May 21, 2011 at 12:10 pm

The older Blu-Rays had those flap things too. When I bought one, I got five DVD’s free (this was back when HD-DVDs existed). They all had those flap things. At first I didn’t realize this and made one have its front cover cave in a little while trying to pry it open, now it barely opens at all.

  • May 21, 2011 at 12:30 pm

You know what I love, lol, the AVGN volume 2 and 3 discs being overlapped…kinda like the Back to the fucking future blu rays 🙂

  • TH

    May 21, 2011 at 12:38 pm

I like the fance DVD or BluRay boxes. Its for collection. And the lockers in the Cinderella I think is for children don´t open the box.

  • May 21, 2011 at 1:05 pm

I always loved the boxes! 🙂

  • AnKun

    May 21, 2011 at 1:08 pm

Don’t you just hate some DVD’s that WAAAY to hard to take out? I mean the ones where you press in the middle with ALL YOUR FUCKING MIGHT and the disk still doesn’t pop out. You can easily fucking BREAK it just by trying to pull out!!!! Now that’s a bullshit.

  • GalloogaJoe

    May 21, 2011 at 1:30 pm

Ha I hate those clasps on dvd cases. Whenever I buy a DVD that has those I just rip them off

  • DarkNeonRain

    May 21, 2011 at 1:35 pm

That back to the future blu-ray box is totaly diferent from mine. The one i have is very easy to just pop out and watch. It must be because mine is region 2 or somthing

  • heartofiron

    May 21, 2011 at 1:39 pm

I hate it when you buy a new PC game and it has like 5 or 6 cds. Then they package them in the little paper sleeves.

  • XZero

    May 21, 2011 at 1:57 pm

Love it! But I agree that you missed the biggest offender of them all: Eco-cases. Why oh why do we need holes in our DVD cases? We don’t. The same goes for games and Blu-Ray discs. Do they save plastic? Who cares? The inserts can get damaged more easily, and that’s bull shit.

  • May 21, 2011 at 2:04 pm

few points id like to make in your defense
DVD stands for digital video disc so…in generic terms there is nothing wrong with saying dvd when refering to a blu-ray disc.
second: i worked at a video store a while back and we all had the SAME opinion about the bullshit tabs, so i just started snaping those fuckers off, pretty soon EVERYONE that worked at the store was doing it…the great thing is one of our bosses got pissed about it so we all just blamed it on this dork we all hated and he got fired.
…now granted he was a dick and we were glad to see him go but…firing him over those tabs that do nothing to help the case stay closed…now THATS bullshit!

  • tylerdurden389

    May 21, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Swear to God, they oughta sell 2 different versions of blu-rays/dvds that have all that extra useless packaging. Have a bare-bones that has just the film and whatever special features are on the disc for 1/3 of the price of whatever that mess of packaging that avatar set was.

  • filipepw

    May 21, 2011 at 2:11 pm

ahhhh man, i know whats bullshit:

  • Laughs

    May 21, 2011 at 2:11 pm

Any of you guys ever have to deal with the Curb Your Enthusiasm DVDs? Unbelievably annoying.

  • May 21, 2011 at 2:16 pm

As someone else stated, my Back to the Future blu-ray is very easy to take the discs out. They must have immediately changed the design after realizing it was bullshit.

  • Cleveland Rock

    May 21, 2011 at 2:29 pm

[opening music] You know what else is BULLSHIT? These bullshit plastic disc covers are most likely made by some underpaid Chinese factory workers, AND they’re bad for the environment. Call me a hippie, but considering it’s just a piece of bullshit, it’s really not worth destroying the world to make it. Just give me a shitty cardboard box with a paper sleeve in it or something. They could even make it out of recycled materials, and more importantly, you could actually fucking open it. All that matters to me is that the disc isn’t damaged in the shipping process, but when it comes to that, isn’t that the point of padded envelopes and packages? You know… the ones that are packed with fiber, Styrofoam peanuts, and BULLSHIT. [closing music]

  • Zentu

    May 21, 2011 at 2:33 pm

This was a great Video and all James…. but I just got only one complaint. You already more/less made a video gripeing about DVD Boxes, Come on now, I know you got a million little things going on one of which being that Movie your doing…. But Couldent we of come up with something else? What about those BS Suggestions I sent to you on YouTube? (Iam TheVideoPsychic btw) I mean Vending Machienes are BS.. thats a great one. Or what about Texting? Yea I mean it take so little effort to just call someone then have a conversation via texting.

  • May 21, 2011 at 2:43 pm

Great Scott! yeah the DVD instructions are re-cockulous (yes you can re-use that one)

I think Inspector Gadget would have been a good ad-in for the video when you go to the stupid instructions bit.

    “move your finger…over the BUTTON…and ..”

  • May 21, 2011 at 2:44 pm

Funny that he owns a copy of Cinderella

  • psyonikx

    May 21, 2011 at 2:58 pm

Fuck those tabs on the side of DVD’s. I break those little bastards off.

And Acey Riot, that’s some fucked up shit you guys pulled on that dude at the video store. What if the guy had kids to feed? You just went and got him fired, and now his kids have to suffer. That’s some bullshit right there!

  • dakaarts

    May 21, 2011 at 3:07 pm

hahha so awesome, please james, do more of this! u do like a video per century! so do more of this, cos dis are easy to do 🙂

  • fattoler

    May 21, 2011 at 3:09 pm

Wait…. Why do you own Cinderella?

  • toast3rov3n

    May 21, 2011 at 3:18 pm

The five disc TRON Legacy case had to be modified just to get the discs out. That engineer should be punched in the face.

  • May 21, 2011 at 3:23 pm

The BTTF Blu-Ray case IS a pain in the ass!!!

  • 19Szabolcs91

    May 21, 2011 at 3:34 pm

“Wait…. Why do you own Cinderella?”

Why shouldn’t he? It’s a good movie, and a classic, too.

  • Wesley26508

    May 21, 2011 at 3:40 pm

You already kind of hit on this stuff. It seems to me you slapped this video together just to throw a bone to the fans. But the hounds are barking for thier new installment ot AVGN. I really think you need to address this hiatus. The longer you wait the louder the barks will get. Keep up the good work and stay true to your form.

  • skullking

    May 21, 2011 at 3:41 pm

I can’t stand those little security strips! I take them out immediately, they’ve bugged the shit out of me, since I got one stuck to my shoe at a store, and set off all the alarms. I remove them from all my friends dvds as well, which some of them get pissed about, but, it’s not like they serve any purpose after you’ve bought it.

  • bobo3380

    May 21, 2011 at 3:54 pm

I will have to defend the clips on the side. If you notice most are on childrens movies. If you have kids they help because then you don’t have a child opening them and scratching the DVD. I will add the I hate them personally but they are great to stop kids. It makes there DVD’s last much, much longer.

  • 666drummerman

    May 21, 2011 at 4:10 pm

this is a fucking lovely series jajaja I want moooreeeeeeee

  • ctu

    May 21, 2011 at 4:15 pm

wow I did not know Avatar was that bad for packaging. How messed up are those people?

Also I am another person who hates the Eco-cases, to me they are the worst case in my DVD collection.

  • Zentu

    May 21, 2011 at 4:22 pm

Actually the Clip of “the Nerd Takes over” when he did a review on one of the Games Pat was gona do…WAS Mays AVGN episode… Man that Was an obscure game.

  • rhsxo

    May 21, 2011 at 4:26 pm

I’m glad that you used BTTF as an example of a confusing Blu-Ray case. I thought I was going to break the disc the first time I took it out. Nice concept, poor design.

  • sadlersongs

    May 21, 2011 at 4:41 pm

You make a great point. I have the BTTF bluray and I was baffled when I actually had to read the instructions on how to get the disc out. But your video sucked. Compared to the other Bullshit videos it was lazy. You didn’t type up a script like you usually do and you didn’t do any editing like in the other ones.

  • May 21, 2011 at 4:46 pm

the little hatchets on the cinderella dvd is for kids so they dont go and scratch out the movie and you have to buy twenty copies cuz thats their favorite movie

  • May 21, 2011 at 4:48 pm

  • smjp09

    May 21, 2011 at 4:49 pm

i cant tell ya how many times i almost broke the case cuz of those stupid little latches.

  • TheMantaBluRay

    May 21, 2011 at 5:16 pm

Honestly this one I just find lazy not only it isn’t shot like the previous videos but you already covered DVDs both content and packaging wise twice in previous [You Know What’s Bullshit?]. Also at this point, with an exception of a FEW particular releases, DVD cases are the least of what we need to complain about. A [You Know Whats Bullshit?] on 3D would be more up your alley, anything about the theatre would be interesting to watch, and the paranoid YouTube taking down videos. Come on James there are many things right now that is Bullshit. Just trying to make things fresh (fresh bullshit anyway).

  • GamesForGabe

    May 21, 2011 at 5:33 pm

For the cinderela movie with the tabs, i once bought a dvd with those things and tried opening it, it dint budge, i then realized it had the dumb stickers on the side so i got those off, then forced the dvd opening not knowing of the tabs, and i t bust my dvd like wtf!

  • ProjectGoatse

    May 21, 2011 at 5:35 pm

    You know what’s bullshit?

People bitching and whining like spoiled little girls over FREE entertainment that isn’t up to their irrational standards, set in by an unfortunate sense of entitlement and selfishness.

  • May 21, 2011 at 5:44 pm

So true man… what a load of bull shit…

  • May 21, 2011 at 5:49 pm

God forbid, I made a video without writing a script first. I had a quick idea, so I decided to do it. It was either that or nothing at all. Take it or leave it.

  • May 21, 2011 at 5:56 pm

Oh James… don’t feed the trolls. One of my friends once deleted his Youtube account with over 6000 subscribers because most of those forced him to do stuff he didn’t like anymore and bitched about every video that was different (but better).
Just do what you want to do. Nobody forces you to do this… you do it because you have fun. And that’s the most important thing. That you have fun making these videos. 🙂

  • ProjectGoatse

    May 21, 2011 at 5:58 pm

My only complaint about this video is that I find it difficult to masturbate to.

Otherwise, good work. Fuck the trolls.

  • mczipper

    May 21, 2011 at 5:59 pm

Hey! You should check out South Park’s DVD, they are awful, it wont come out of the cardboard box! You just have to disassemble it if you want it out! Seriously, they are the worst! Or maybe it’s just that all new boxes do it … I don’t know but anyway over packaging is very stupid, we don’t need all this just because we liked the movie!!

  • adenton7

    May 21, 2011 at 6:02 pm

I bout died laughing at the end. woops woops woops lol great I hate those clip things soooo much too

  • teekay007

    May 21, 2011 at 6:04 pm

I felt the exact same way about the Back to the Future Blu-ray packaging. Universal keeps doing this… they use the same shitty packaging for The Office. Fucking. bullshit.

Plus your previous episode with the security stickers… so true. I hate when they have 3 fucking stickers. One is enough… I don’t need three fucking stickers holding it closed, especially when I order from Amazon, and it’s already fucking shrink-wrapped. Seriously. Fuck this.

    Also, this rapture = bullshit

  • Cowboy

    May 21, 2011 at 6:07 pm

I must say I really enjoy the unscripted videos. Feels very casual and it’s still entertaining, and very much so.
You have covered the DVD’s before, but it’s a huge pile of shit and it’s a long way to cover it all.

Don’t listen to the haters on this video. Keep doing the unscripted stuff (and throw in some motherfucking-mike in there too. that’s pure gold)

  • sadlersongs

    May 21, 2011 at 6:09 pm

“God forbid, I made a video without writing a script first. I had a quick idea, so I decided to do it. It was either that or nothing at all. Take it or leave it.”

    OK, I’ll leave it.

  • May 21, 2011 at 6:15 pm

Wow, so much negative reaction. Fuck all you entitled assholes. Go bitch to your parents to buy you a new toy and gtfo.

As for the video, I lol’d. It’s so true, dvd/blu-ray packaging has gone WAY too far. It’s so obnoxious. DVD cases work fine, leave the tabs and ridiculous ways of removing a disc out. It’s not necessary and it’s incredibly frustrating. I just want to watch the damn disc, not wrestle with it!

  • May 21, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Dude I was pleasantly surprised to watch an unscripted “You Know What’s Bullshit” episode. It was funny as hell. I think you should do them all like this.

  • May 21, 2011 at 6:26 pm

Holy shit James, THANK YOU. If it’s not retarded packaging it’s stickers all over the damn place. You try to peel some off and they pop right off, others… white shit and adhesive city. Keep up the good work man.

  • adenton7

    May 21, 2011 at 6:28 pm

man don’t listen to these jerks that critique your stuff they just need to just shut up and do something good with their life. . Its like if you did not like it cool you don’t have to say anything about it, and if you don’t like anything that James makes except AVGN 1st thing you are not that big of a fan of James 2nd thing just don’t watch them if you do not like anything but AVGN

  • Overste Hatti

    May 21, 2011 at 6:58 pm

Hahaha, soo fucking funny! At the end I cracked. James is king

  • bealio721

ha love it! that bttf dvd case made me it’s bitch for a while

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:08 pm

man i was hoping james got my email when i saw this about all the other “BULLSHIT” in dvds and blu rays, james, i suggest you find that email lol

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:21 pm

This one was really funny. Only thing it lacks was the bullshit face at the end.

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:23 pm

rofl this were the best few minutes of my day … that bttf blu-ray crap is ridiculous, I often think about how stupid sometimes special editions and blu-ray editions get with the packaging and all the falling crap … right on the spot 😀

  • May 21, 2011 at 7:26 pm

Those latches are child protection devices Disney, Universal and some other studios use to make sure your kids can’t open the case. And, yes, they are bullshit. Also, did you notice that the Back to the Future Blu-ray set is six discs, but only 3 of they are actual Blu-ray discs? The other three are DVDs with the digital copies of each movie on them. They fucking doubled the size of the set for digital copies that will expire in a year or less anyways. You should make an episode about that, because that is bullshit!!!

  • Son_Of_Jack_Deth

    May 21, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Actually, those latches on the Disney DVD are for security at retail stores. You see, thieves take the DVD case and split it open at the top, bottom or sides and just remove the DVD without having to pull off the plastic. They do this so quickly they are rarely caught. So DVD companies came up with the latches to make it more difficult to just open the case. It helps a little, but not as much as one would hope.

  • _JRPGNerd_

    May 21, 2011 at 8:06 pm

I used to buy expensive DVD’s from Japan. And all of em got that back to the future crap. It’s nuts! Fuck! I will prob brake em all someday.

What, your not watching movies on HOLOCUBES yet?

Thanks James for another BULLSHIT moment, totally agreed until the last one, never seen one like that!

  • likalaruku

    May 21, 2011 at 9:10 pm

I also hate the cheap holders in Hong Kong Box Sets; they break so easily & can’t be fixed or replaced. Bulk CD cases have the same kind of holders & are only a little less fragile.

  • ulmuchiha

    May 21, 2011 at 9:22 pm

you never said You Know What’s Bullshit? ;(

  • May 21, 2011 at 9:28 pm

The Simpsons, plastic ‘head shaped’ limited editions have the most horrible packaging I’ve ever seen.

They have a dodgy and pointless plastic O-ring, then the head opens vertically (hinged), and then the inside cardboard opens to the left, where there’s a booklet that’s barely held in place. The lid (or front) cover has a peice of cardboard with a picture on it that’s not held in place at all. & the disks are all stacked inside the back of the head, which way they open seems to be random for each one, but no matter what, you’ve got to bend the plastic head at least a little bit to be able to actually flip through the disks. The disks have those two-triangle locks so you actually have to make an effort to get them out, all the while there’s cardboard falling out, the case keeps wanting to close, and you’ve got other bits to put back together when you’re done picking a disk. It’s fucking annoying.

    End of rant.

  • Paronfesken

    May 21, 2011 at 10:18 pm

Storing pieces of plastic at home is BS, I want all my shit in the cloud digitally. Yeah!

  • raypie

    May 21, 2011 at 11:17 pm

I hate those tab lock things I seen one of those cases be destroyed because the person opening it didn’t know they were there

  • Furypants

    May 21, 2011 at 11:21 pm

Such a waste of plastic and paper! Why can’t we just have simple DVD cases again?

  • Rizzilla

    May 21, 2011 at 11:27 pm

LOL … funny as ever James 😀

  • jasonw131

    May 22, 2011 at 12:05 am

I hate how some dvd cases make you jump through hoops just to get the disc out of it. It makes me feel like a hamster in a maze. And i’ve seen those snap things like the one on the Cinderella case. It’s a dvd! Not a fucking briefcase!

  • May 22, 2011 at 12:13 am

I usually just rip those plastic tabs off and toss them out along with the useless sleeves.

  • Rhetticus

    May 22, 2011 at 12:25 am

    Another awesome episode James ^____^b

I like that it’s in widescreen now, the resolution was nice too. The continual evolution of the Internet amazes me. I did notice the buffer bar lose to the player bar a few times. Wasn’t too much of an inconvience but still annoying. For us Australians such interuptions should end once the NBN is rolled out 😀

  • Michael28

    May 22, 2011 at 12:36 am

You’ve already complained about DVDs twice. It’s not funny anymore.

What’s funny about you going “Oooohh, aaahhhh…It’s so hard to get this DVD out.” Really?

You need to quit rehashing the same stuff over and over. It seems to be a trend lately. Your AVGN material went stale because it wasn’t original anymore.

  • May 22, 2011 at 1:02 am

    Jackie Chan DVDs prevail.

You know what’s bullshit? Movies that are UNRATED on DVD, they’re just basically deleted scenes added in or just some parts cut from the theatrical release!

SEX DRIVE has to be the most disturbing movie to have a UNRATED DVD and I threw it away because it has dick shots. I cant believe it belongs to one of my friends….

  • BernietheShredder

    May 22, 2011 at 1:23 am

I have to admit, this one is the only YKWBS video I didn’t like. First of all, not ALL Blu-Ray discs come with slip cases, nor do they have those fucked-up disc release designs (à la BttF 25th Anniversary Collection).

In the end, yes I DO hate those DVD cases with the latches on them, BUT so do thieves (as others have pointed out above). As someone who works in retail, trust me those cases are a godsend – the way I see it is if you don’t like the latches, just break ’em off once you own the DVD! 🙂

  • May 22, 2011 at 2:08 am

That is bullshit! I agree completely. 😀

  • AlirazaVideoGamesonYouTube

    May 22, 2011 at 2:18 am

well my porn blu-ray discs are easy to get to when i need them for a few minutes after coming home from the gym, seeing those sweaty blonde girls with the big ass…

  • Nintendo_Master

    May 22, 2011 at 4:28 am

Not your best YKWBS episode James, but still kudos for doing it. I’m sure there’s plenty of AVGN goodness to come out of the movie you’re making, and also the new E.T episode. Just get the new episode done when you can, ignore the impatient idiots who would happily see you break down in stress just to get their Nerd episodes.

  • number363

    May 22, 2011 at 5:10 am

I really like these weird and interesting sorta cases, I think they make a DVD collection look smart and the DVDs gain character from them.
its like I have the Death Note Anime Box-set on DVD and it comes with this neat little Art book, but when you take a DVD out you have to hold it in as it tends to fall out with one case missing and if it falls out you can not get it back in without bending the pages so you have to take out every DVD, put the book in first and put them all back in after, Annoying but I still like it, I can not say I want this changing ^_^

  • sabretooth

    May 22, 2011 at 5:28 am

Nintendo_Master, I have a feeling ET will be covered as part of the movie hence its his big thing that everyone has been waiting for for years. I doubt there will be an actual ET episode but who knows 🙂

ulmuchiha – he did say “You Know What’s Bullshit?” but it was during the opening theme rather than after it 🙂

James – Thank you for this episode. As much as I agree that DVD packaging has been done already and feel that this is more of an afterthought, I still appreciate the work you put into your productions.
Good luck with the AVGN movie, and I’m eagerly waiting for what we will see from you next.

  • MadHitz

    May 22, 2011 at 10:00 am

Didn’t you already do one of these episodes on DVD packaging? And it was much more elaborate too. this one looks like it was all improvised

  • May 22, 2011 at 10:35 am

Third “You know what’s bullshit?” about DVD cases. You must reeaaally hate them.

  • korahn

    May 22, 2011 at 1:55 pm

My copy of Back to the Future blu ray trilogy is less annoying. It’s all 3 in a regular size case (maybe a little bigger) but it has 2 disks situated on either side of a flip-over piece attached in the middle of the case and the third on the back of the case. A small slip cover goes over the case itself. No instructions, no additional disks (digital copies are also bull Shit!).

  • BernietheShredder

    May 22, 2011 at 2:05 pm

“God forbid, I made a video without writing a script first. I had a quick idea, so I decided to do it. It was either that or nothing at all. Take it or leave it.”
I gotta admit, taking time out of your busy schedule to not only make a new video BUT also comment on the problems people are having with it is commendable!

My gripe isn’t the lack of script – if anything it’s a throwback to some of the vibes your older videos had 🙂
My problem was some of the content. Unlike that confusing bullshit Back to the Future case (WTF even the instructions look intimidating), the DVD ‘latches’ – I would argue – are practical due to the efficiency they provide in terms of anti-theft.

However, those fucking ‘security stickers’ man…not only are they a fucking pain to get off, but you know what’s worse? When you take ’em off and half the fucking glue stays stuck to the goddamn DVD case so when you place it on your shelf and pull it out for another viewing it pulls out other DVD cases with it! THAT is freakin’ bullshit. Even CD cases suffer from this problem on occasion. Then you have to go out and buy a glue remover for the case(s)…ridiculous!!! :@

HAHA just having fun man, best of luck with the AVGN movie! 🙂

    May 22, 2011 at 2:28 pm

James: “There’s fucking instructions on how to take a DVD out!”

    Unknown person: “Blu-ray”

James: “A Blu-ray, w/e the fuck it is.”

    ahahahahah yaaaaahhhhhhhhh

dvd, blu-ray, we know what your talking about.

    May 22, 2011 at 2:52 pm

The Avatar dvd is like the BlueRay…I like the shininess of the cover but I’m with you when you say that’s bullshit ^_^
And…Cinderella dvd?I am surprised that you have it…but this amuse me ^_^

  • May 22, 2011 at 4:02 pm

Not showing the Eco Box, the recycle friendly package dvd? Now that thing is bullshit! It has like holes in the back mostly in the shape of the recycle logo, when you grab a dvd to fast or to hard, you can squish right through the cover…

  • GoobZilla89

    May 22, 2011 at 4:25 pm

I happen to like the Avatar packaging and other DVDs/BluRays with special packaging. Its nice to have a film you love dressed up in cool box art. I agree some of it can be annoying but I like a lot of the special packaging that comes with DVDs.

  • SippinCoughee

Cool! bin waiting along time for a new “bullshit” video! Nice work James
Oh about some crappy Blu-ray menus, Terminator 2 is the worst shit i,ve seen, i dont know about your versions in the US but the one i got here in sweden, is INSANE! takes like 10 freakin minutes before i can watch the movie, and on top of that, they have a PASSWORD you have to figure out before you can see the full extended version of the movie, yeez!

  • RetroGamerK91

    May 22, 2011 at 5:41 pm

I agree with everything you said. I was pissed about the BTTF Trilogy Blu-ray box-set. I mean, who’s the jackass at Universal who thought it was a good idea to package them up like that? I just like ’em plain and simple, just like you probably do. Getting a movie out of the case shouldn’t be a chore, task or a project. You just wanna watch the movie!

  • May 22, 2011 at 10:38 pm

Because they didn’t spend enough money making the movie, they had to throw away even more money on wastefull useless Blu-ray packaging

  • 13seb

    May 22, 2011 at 10:45 pm

Great video James! BUT! I think that we should save those useless little covers over the DVD/ BlueRays! my reasoning behind this is that if you wanna sell it (for whatever reason) 20-30 years down the road, people might want that original case! its like with the NES games, people through them out because they just had the NES cartridge as the case so usually the game with the original case’s are rare and that is what is going to happen here because people will through that little case off. It was just a little thing i wanted to say but other than that great video 🙂

  • Lesley M.

    May 22, 2011 at 10:45 pm

THANK YOU for addressing the unacceptable nature of the BTTF Blu-rays. That has seriously been driving me batty since the day I got them.

  • May 22, 2011 at 11:11 pm

LOL..That is some funny shit James..or should i say bullshit..That Back to the future bluray case is fucking ridiculous. What were they thinking?….I love your work James…We just finished a new piece of work ourselves..Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0X5cYG6U7s Keep up the good work James..:)

  • kyle roger

    May 22, 2011 at 11:39 pm

Gotta have the extra casing so that the inner case doesn’t get scratched. Having a more intricate box set helps encourage purchasing a hard copy of a movie, which is not necessary anymore. It’s just something for collectors to appreciate. The Back to the Future blu ray does take it too far though.

  • May 22, 2011 at 11:39 pm

    Yep! Bullshit!

  • May 23, 2011 at 12:31 am

Oh god, that Avatar box is ridiculous! Way too many boxes and crap all over the place. What are these people thinking?

  • Phryj

    May 23, 2011 at 1:12 am

So, is it actually possible to get Back to the Future out of the case? And since they went all out on a fancy package, why the heck doesn’t it have an individual tray for each disc?

  • Calavera

    May 23, 2011 at 2:02 am

You know whats bullshit? This is the same as the older episode about DVD packaging.

    May 23, 2011 at 2:26 am

i have to deal with that back 2 the futre shit on my resident evil collecters edition box on the dvd part and this is how you open the moterfucker
1.open up the back tab so you can get out the case
    2.fuckin open the damn thing!
3.pull out the cd you want without snappin the damn thing in half
    4.close everything
5.take 15 minutes to put the cd holder back in the box
    6.close the back tab
    Minumum time:20 FUCKIN HOURS!!!
now i only deal with this bullshit because im a die hard resident evil fan.
(also i refuse to beat re4,play 5 again, and watch afterlife again)BECUZ NO FUCKIN ZOMBIES!!!!!!!

  • Stylix

    May 23, 2011 at 2:45 am

You should have mentioned those shitty “push here” kind that always have half the teeth break off, only after using it 2 or 3 times. In turn that renders the case useless.

Or how about those new ones that are trying to save on material cost by putting a shit ton of holes all over the case, which you don’t really see when it shut, but it causes the paper insert to get bent up when someone grabs the case. That and they are flimsy as fuck.

Oh and one of my personal favorites (which I think was more a console game thing and less a DVD/Blueray) were those thick ass boxes that had one spindle in the center meant to hold like 5 or more discs, yet it usually only has 2 at most. Some games only had one disc and it still used that cumbersome box. It gets most annoying if you have some kind of dvd holder built into your TV stand, and the damn thing wont fit because its thicker than a texas steak.

  • Fredward

    May 23, 2011 at 3:05 am

I really enjoyed this video. There’s nothing wrong with unscripted videos – if anything, I tend to like them better because they feel more genuine. Even with the AVGN vids, I know they are pretty much all scripted, but most of my favorite episodes are the ones that don’t feel scripted. I like the ones that seem more off the cuff, like you’re just going on a rant about something off the top of your head.

  • thathy

    May 23, 2011 at 6:04 am

also the packaging is not the worse the menus are the worse thats why i never ever ever buy dvds and get my movies some other way

  • killteck

    May 23, 2011 at 8:46 am

You forgot to mention that the Avatar movie its self is a piece of bullshit. Fuck that movie! Why does everybody act like they like it? Its the same tired story we all seen or hear many times. It has a good message, yet nobody seems to give a shit. Like, yep that’s what mankind keeps on doing, horrible things, but who cares. Let’s all just sit back and do nothing until the world is in complete ruin. That’s some bullshit.

  • MrBill4701

    May 23, 2011 at 8:52 am

  • zbrg1

    May 23, 2011 at 10:16 am

  • SpeedyEric

    May 23, 2011 at 11:11 am

I don’t really have a problem with DVD/Blu-Ray packaging. All I care about is that I have a case to put the discs in. And those sleve covers, I only keep them if the image on them is different than the one on the case’s image.

    May 23, 2011 at 1:29 pm

Wtf is up with that BTTF set? That’s just sad if they have to have instructions on how to take the discs out. And what’s with the excessive packaging on the Avatar set? Thank goodness I just got the DVD + BD combo set when Avatar first came out. It’s simple. Open the case, there they are.

  • Eastline

    May 23, 2011 at 2:22 pm

Why does BTTF needs all this packaging? For the DVD trilogy, you just pull the cover off, snap open the case, and pop the disc out. Seems like these days, movies and games come in pristine packages and limited edition hoping they become very valuable in the future when they’re cheap, flimsy mass produced products. Not like when used to be true collectables as seen on Pawn Stars.

  • Zero Cool

  • juggernautakira

    May 23, 2011 at 6:59 pm

I am not impressed with this one cuz it has already been done and it was done with a script. Cmon James, perhaps a once a week game review with get your mind back in the swing of things.

  • May 23, 2011 at 7:18 pm

juggernautakira is right! Some videogame review twice a month, maybe not AVGN thing (not spoiling the movie), but a la James, just James point of view about some old or new games, like L.A. Noir from Rockstar Games, or a more classic one, the Mega Man series (NES ones)

  • toiletfarm

  • HawaiianKong

    May 23, 2011 at 11:12 pm

Come on guy…we don’t need an AVGN episode with a month’s worth of production behind it. Give us an angry rant about some shitty game and we’re set.

I am happy you’re still giving us fans something consistently. I truly look here multiple times daily for another nugget of info/truth/hilarity from you. For your dedication, I honestly, and sincerely thank you.

    .. meh …

… this was not my favorite video you’ve put out.

  • May 24, 2011 at 1:13 am

I’m tired of all the haters! James isn’t making AVGN episodes right now! Deal with it! We’re getting more YKWBS, more Board James has been mentioned, and we’re still getting lots of quality videos.
Even if this may be somewhat of repeat of a previous topic, it’s still a FREE VIDEO. If you don’t like it, DON’T WATCH IT.

I, like many others, got into Cinemassacre and James’s work through the AVGN videos, and I still love them, but if he’s not making them right now, then that’s his choice! Like I said before, DEAL WITH IT!

James, even though I may not love everything you’ve done, I still think you’re great and I, and many like me, will stick with you no matter what the haters say.

  • TheLostSkeleton

    May 24, 2011 at 4:57 am

I’m surprised you haven’t done a “You know what’s Bullshit?” for “Corner Bugs” on TV. Maybe you just don’t watch enough TV, but I absolutely loathe it when TV networks decide it’s okay to cover the bottom fourth of the screen with animated advertisements for upcoming shows during the show you’re currently watching.

  • May 24, 2011 at 7:09 am

What else is bullshit are the “snap cases.” DVDs that have flimsy cardboard front covers, but with this weird plastic “door” along the right side, that holds the flap in place. Really gives it a cheap look and feel.

  • TheBrambler

    May 24, 2011 at 1:38 pm

Your production values have gone down good sir. That is all.

  • TheBrambler

    May 24, 2011 at 1:42 pm

But, to echo what other people are saying, I know it’s tough to consitently produce content. Just sayin though, the last string of videos (outside of TMNT series review) have been pretty blah compared to the lst two years of your work on here. I’m still a fan. lol.

  • May 24, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I CANT possibly be the only one who thinks we need a “people who bitch about free things” YKWBS..

  • juggernautakira

    May 24, 2011 at 3:37 pm

I only suggest he makes a game review weekly to get back in the swing of things. It is his bread n butter and would be best suited to get him back to form. But. He could do other things he has already been posting, but this YKWBS is clearly flawed. I cant think of one episode in his other ‘series’ that has a repeat.

  • gamer025

    May 24, 2011 at 6:19 pm

All that bullshit packaging for video games and movies. lol

  • Kenshiroh

    May 24, 2011 at 8:24 pm

That Back to the Future packaging was SO STUPID that it need this episode to be made. It doesn’t matter if there already was a DVD episode.

FYI, I’ve heard that you can order the BTTF Blu-Ray from England and it comes in a normal case and will play on US Blu-Ray players.

  • Griff

    May 24, 2011 at 11:12 pm

hahaha, I had the EXACT same problems with the BTTF blu ray, it took me almost 15 minutes to get the the fucking disc out, awful packaging

  • May 25, 2011 at 2:32 am

I hate how everyone is complaining about this. I really enjoyed these segments, so I’m glad he’s doing them again, as well as Board James. It’s nice to have some variety.

  • oblivion328

    May 25, 2011 at 12:16 pm

As I still haven’t upgraded to Blu-ray, I bought the BTTF anniversary collection in DVD format. And the funny thing is that the packaging is nowhere near that awful. It has the nubs holding the discs in and it’s far simpler to open. Why the fuck didn’t they just use the same packaging for the Blu-rays?

  • May 25, 2011 at 6:33 pm

Query to Ocarina654: How would I know I won’t like it if I don’t watch it? Fair question.

As far as the video goes, I felt this was an unnecessary rehash of the first Bullshit video and not as enjoyable. Watching the video, I thought, “Okay, fine. DVD cases are bullshit. Fine, we know that. Next.”

I thought the first revisit on the topic (Episode 11, I believe) more than covered all the reasonings as to why anything DVD-related (cases, endless splash screens, etc) might be bullshit, but this really added nothing new. Maybe the next Bullshit video was cover something new instead of something old… or is it blue?

Sorry, James. Not feeling this one.

  • May 26, 2011 at 2:05 am

I would like to see one about concession stands at movie theaters…I think it’s about 12 dollars if you want pop corn and a soda now.

  • May 26, 2011 at 2:13 am

I really want to know why James have a Cinderella dvd?? xD

  • May 26, 2011 at 11:40 am

Yeah, I had those annoying tabs on the side of my Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick DVDs like your Cinderella DVD and I just broke them off. It was pretty easy. I hate them, too.

  • cgholds

    May 27, 2011 at 12:35 am

For all those whining about oh boohoo this is just a rehash boohoo, NO morons this might be about the same subject but it is different. In the previous episode he was talking about trying to get dvds open, in this its all the stupid blu-ray packaging that companies put in it to try and make it seem good and collectable and also pricey.

So don’t whine, its a good episode, I think that is BS as well because i really hate those extra stupid closing plastic flaps on dvds, theyre so annoying, infact on a couple of my dvds i busted them off.

On the non-collectable blu-rays the cases are fine i think.

  • May 27, 2011 at 5:29 am

Pretty soon you’re gonna have to rename this series to “You Know What’s Bullshit ABOUT DVDS”!

It’s great that you finally made another, but I have to say I preferred this series back when the clips were shorter. Not only did the editing seem better quality, but my favorite part about the series was that the themes were universal.

This series was like an AVGN I could show to my friends who aren’t interested in video games. Now it just feels like another youtube rant by a DVD collector…

Well, it was still entertaining for me, nonetheless. Keep up the good work.

  • CamTheWoot

    May 27, 2011 at 10:03 am

    you no whats bullshit hippies
all they do is complain the wont let the government use fossil fuels because there bad fore the environment so the government make wind turbines and they complain that they kill birds so the government make hydroelectric damns AND THE COMPLAIN THAT THERE EYESORES it goes on and on will they not be happy until where back in the stone ages if there suck experts on fueling the world THEY FUCKING TRY

  • rug269

    May 27, 2011 at 5:52 pm

this sucked, topic was already more than covered in older episodes, your dialog was choppy uninspired and poorly presented, the single camera angle is bland and the lack of editing or music makes this the worst episode by far.

the reason people like your videos is not because you are the funniest of the most creative guy on the web, but because you know how to properly produce a video, how to balance timing, spontaneity and quality of content. if you keep producing lazy crap like this episode then your going to lose the small amount of recognition you have left since the AVGN started to get stagnant.

  • pivotanimator231

    May 27, 2011 at 8:12 pm

ya know whats bullshit? Camthewoot, what a hypocrite, complaining about how much the hippes complain, i hate how much people troll on the internet and bitch about other people bitching about. if you hate these things/people, why don’t you just ignore them? instead of infuriating your self about them, and thats bull shit

  • May 28, 2011 at 7:02 am

I break those little tab things off my DVD cases. I had that on my Chronicles of Riddick DVD case and I said “Fuck that shit” and snapped them off.

  • May 29, 2011 at 12:38 am

You’re supposed to break off those tabs you hate. They are there to discourage disc theft. They’re pretty easy to snap off actually.

  • Furypants

    May 29, 2011 at 6:24 am

I really miss the simpler DVD cases. No fancy snaps. No extraneous piles of paper. Just the DVD and the scene listing in a basic case.

  • Epic...

    June 1, 2011 at 6:53 pm

You know all of you said that the latches may be for security purposes, but you guys also said they could easily be broken off which would just make it even more pointless and bullshitty. Lay off the guy , so what he didnt make a very good episode he has a lot more in the works right now as it is and he really doesn’t need anymore bullshit to complain about.

thats like needing instructions for how to take a shit. thats bullshit.

  • June 3, 2011 at 1:01 pm

This video is incomplete and unfair: the regular blu-ray cases (these ones with rounded corners) have the same mechanism to remove the disc as the regular dvd cases you’re showing at the second half of the video. As for the BTTF blu-ray box, the same mechanism can be found for dvd boxes (I have this kind of box for dvd!). And the dvd case of Wall-E, made of cardboard, isn’t handy to use. Maybe you’ll tell me you made this video only for humor porpose, but I only see lies and bad faith in it.

3.) Stall in question not working or is so “used” you’re too grossed out to use to it
4.) It echoes…..when you have a headache loud flushing toilets, screaming children or people talking loudly on their phones it makes it worse.

    Y’know what’s BUUULLLLLSHIT!? Birthdays.
Who the fuck decided let’s celebrate the day you were born, every year for the rest of your life? And what are we really celebrating anyway?…Congratulations! You didn’t die for 12 months. If you’re a parent with a new baby, I can understand wanting to do something special to comemerate that 1st year of life…but who cares? Not the baby. They’re the least excited person at the party, they don’t even know they’re having a party. Wanna get an elobrate cake for the baby, go ahead, it’ll be knocked onto the floor of smooshed beyond recognition almost instantly.
If you’re the parent of a young child, that means your house becomes a playground for 10 to 30 kids who’re all hopped up on Kool-Aid, cake, & ice cream. You say you’ve got that problem solved? You’re going to have the party at a fast-food restaurant? Great, ’cause those places won’t cost you an arm & a leg. And when it comes time for their friends birthday parties, there’s a gift you’ve gotta buy. And if they have more than one friend, that’s probably at least ten gifts to buy throughout the year.
Have a “Sweet 16” coming up for your daughter? Dollars to doughnuts you’ll be hearing “Dad-deeeee, I want a carrrrrr”, or at least you’ll be planning a disasterous boy/girl party where everyone’s to shy to dance, or pukes their faces off from underage drinking. It’s my fuckin’ party & I’ll cry if I want to!
And a birthday for a grown adult is a stark reminder that you’re another year older & that your life hasn’t turned out the way you wanted.
    And that’s bullshit!

    September 22, 2011 at 12:14 pm

Those are attempts at theft protection… Believe it or not there are some lowlife pieces of shit in this world that will walk into a store, run a razor blade along the edge of a case like the one you called “gorgeous,” give it a good thump to dislodge the disk and then dump it out of the packaging. Then all they have to do is stick the disk in a pocket and walk out of a store leaving the case and alarm devices in the store looking to casual observers as though they are totally unmolested. The complicated disk holders, side clips and slip covers are intended to prevent this type of theft. FYI you can remove the side clips very easily after purchase.

Yeah the packaging is bullshit. Like what happened to just wrapping it in some plastic that you just pull on the bottom or in the case of those old Disney VHSs you just punctured the plastic with your finger and pulled it off. I have Phone Booth and Eraser on DVD and I don’t understand why all DVDa aren’t like them. By that I mean have fullscreen on one side or flip the disc for widescreen. And for some reason VHSs sold up here in Canada didn’t come with labling in both English and French but DVDs do, that dosen’t make sence why they waited untill the DVD era to start doing that just satisfy the Que’bec people.

The biggest flaw I had ever seen with a DVD case is Ultraman the complete series. I’m telling you, the case is not your standed digipack. Instend, the discs come in these black paper wallets and they are all bundled together. Also, it is a bit of a trick trying to take them out. Guess what, I just got this today in the post from Ebay. Now thats £12 down the drain.

Ok, this comment is directed at Ben Widman: Sorry, Ben, but you just happened to post your comment about massage therapy for an actual massage therapy student to see, so get ready to be schooled.

First of all, if you don’t want your feet rubbed, you don’t have to get your feet rubbed. You can spend the entire session just working on your shoulders if you want. You’re not even required to get undressed if you don’t want to. This is just one of many common misconceptions about massage therapy. It’s all about what the client is comfortable with.

Second, your hands are much dirtier than your feet. Unless you just have horrible foot hygiene, your feet are covered by socks and shoes all day long. The only thing you do is walk on them. Your hands touch all sorts of stuff, like the door to the public restroom. Some guy went in there and shit and jizzed all over his hands and didn’t wash them, then pushed the door open on his way out. You just touched that same door with your hand. Your feet, however, are completely shielded from that disgusting bathroom floor thanks to your shoes. Plus there’s a whole lot of anatomy in the hand versus the foot that I won’t bore you with, suffice to say, there’s plenty of legitimate and physiological reason to massage the muscles that are found in the foot, including ones that originate up in your leg and insert down in your foot. Conditions like plantar fascitis are just one common problem that people have with their feet.

So, in my opinion, what’s REALLY bullshit are people who make judgments about industries based on second hand knowledge that they haven’t even verified themselves. (and yes, massage therapists wash their hands before and after each session – that should go without saying. most good therapists will tell you upon entering a room “I’ve just washed my hands”)

YKWBS?When people misuse the term “PC”. It means Personal computer, so it’s any computer that isn’t designed to be a public or commercial version. Stop using it to distinguish “PCs” from Macs, a Mac is still a personal computer If you need a term to separate them, why not just “Win” for Windows? It’s even worse when someone does it to separate LAPTOPS from “PCs” as a term already exists for that – Desktop. It makes even less sense that the Mac comparison, as if anything, a laptop is more “personal” as you can take it with you and it’s smaller.I’ve also anticipated the forthcoming trolls as I say – You’re Bullshit.

@gus_diaz There are several valid reasons as to why someone who isn’t a kid would own a G-rated film.

      1. He got it as a kid, and as it didn’t break, he still owns it.2. As a Disney Film, it has a very high collector’s value.3. Maybe, just maybe, he LIKES THE MOVE. Who the hell cares what something was made for if you like it?

    • NEORaven667

      December 4, 2011 at 2:17 pm

@gus_diaz He is married after all so he may just as well have kids. Besides that it truly maybe that he does like that movie. Hell some classic disney movies, no matter what they are, are still good. My friends and I watch the Tinkerbell series cause it has a lot of funny moments in it, that make us weird??

      December 8, 2011 at 9:39 am

@gus_diaz its weird for a filmmaker to have a disney movie, yes you obviously are not doing arts.

Don’t know but Back to the Future and Avatar were well packaged (besides this disc thingy in Back to the Future). I like to have something worthy in my hand, not such a stupid plastic packaging which, as we all know, cost nothing in production and feels just cheap.

Like AVGN says: “What do they thinking?” Sometimes I think they don’t have brains. They kick the gifts of nature with their feet. Too much money behind the scene. Stupid commercial People going to be crazy and spend too much time in inventing such a piece of shit, like that, only because they want to make us believe: OH! Look! We are so original!

I don’t care if you have Cinderella on DVD, James… I have cartoons like Pingu (a Plasticine cartoon series about a penguin) and other peculiarities. 🙂 Never had this packaging/catches/releases problem in the UK, by the way… so it might only affect US/Canadian DVDs/Blu-rays.

What’s with all the people questioning why James owns Cinderella? Are you people honestly that freaking insecure with yourselves?! There is absolutely nothing wrong or weird at all about him owning it…

YOU KNOW WHAT’S BULLSHIT!!?? Bronies. They are nothing more than lazy, sensitive, and overprotective nut cases. They worship My Little Pony like it’s the new Jesus Christ, they ask random people if they are bronies or if they like MLP (what are they, autistic), and they never stop posting pony videos, pictures and other rancid bullshit. These people are worse than Chris-Chan, and they need to get over their OCD. Now that’s Bullshit.

    • Nuketehbomb

      December 31, 2011 at 9:05 am

P.S. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is the worst, most generic, girly ass show in the history of animation. If I were to suggest current TV shows to watch, I would have to go with Transformers Prime, Thundercats, Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Hell, I’ll recommend Squirrel Boy, and that show was painful, but at least it’s better than watching ponies prance around for 23 minutes.

I can think of another disadvantage for Blu-ray Discs: They’re harder to rip than DVDs, not to mention they’re not as widespread.

You Know What’s Bullshit? When you’re trying to watch a simple video online and have to watch an ad that takes up half the video playtime! I get sites need ads to stay operational but do the commercials need to be so long? It’s a 4 minute video and the ad is a minute long. That’s a quarter of the video! That’s a waste of time and bullshit!

I find it funny and a bit depressing that even if “Avatar” has an open message about taking care of our planet, environmental destruction and the way we cut down rainforests, they have to make the packaging contain WAY more paper and plastic that necessary… Double moral, I tell you.

I think he should do one on adverts. They’re SO repetitive and they are stuck on videos so you have to watch them. You know what, advert companies? No one gives a flying fuck about them. THAT should NOT have to happen! THAT is bullshit.

  • omgmrtea

    April 16, 2012 at 8:33 am

Aaah i totally agree James, i hate the Blu Ray cases today. I just want a normal single disc case, but no, they have to do some shitty Blu Ray and DVD combo package stuff, now included with an ultra violet copy!!! Aaaaargh!!!

  • ihelloway

    May 4, 2012 at 1:12 am

I remember days when DVD was priced as Blueray today , I just wonder how much time left for the second change.
Anyway, Because of disks and sd cards we have piracy, I loved days when we had no other choice but to buy cartridge which could not be copied simply by =)

  • Jessyfaulkner

    May 9, 2012 at 11:34 pm

I hate how on DVDs released by Columbia/Tristar (now Sony Pictures) have those FBI Warning messages AFTER you’ve hit play on the main menu and if that’s not bad enough, they also put in up in Spanish and French in separate intervals so it takes forever just to watch the damn movie!

  • PeanutGamer

    May 13, 2012 at 2:47 pm

I completely agree with this. I don’t mind the slip case, but the Avatar box IS a nightmare to open. Same with Back To The Future on Blu-Ray. The latches on the Cinderella one are made to be kid-safe. Kids are not that stupid. One that’s easy to open is The Adventures of Tintin. It has that slip cover, But everything else is normal and stress-free.

  • binaryfruit

    June 17, 2012 at 7:45 pm

  • September 20, 2013 at 6:58 am

i have several anime complete series box set with the dvd discs are stackED together like his Back to The Future blu-ray discs are.. it feels like the discs are gonna to snap every time I pull one off of the stupid plastic thing holding onto it like the jaws of life.

  • October 7, 2013 at 4:48 pm

I agree.most of my dvd cases have those stupid lockouter things.

  • October 9, 2013 at 8:52 am

The point of the tabs on the cases is so that people cant pry them open and take out the discs and steal them. Good episode though.
