The Cyclops (1957)
October 4, 2010 at 3:07 am
yeaaahh!! 1st comment at 3:00 in the morning!
October 4, 2010 at 3:08 am
October 4, 2010 at 3:09 am
I thought the crickets during the campfire scenes were in my room.
October 4, 2010 at 3:15 am
Wish I had background removing powers.
October 4, 2010 at 3:17 am
Another great review. James must shit gold film strip because I haven’t seen one bad video (out of 100’s) yet.
October 4, 2010 at 3:19 am
Ah, good ol’ Bert I. Also, at the risk of sounding like a know-it-all douche, the gila monster from the lizard fight was actually a monitor lizard. He also used the same sort of thing in King Dinosaur, which was a real turd. And I’m really amazed that the creature makeup is so damn similar to the Colossal Beast
October 4, 2010 at 3:34 am
I literally LOLed at the end. Damn, I have to use that trick in my next video! ^^
October 4, 2010 at 3:37 am
Good old cyclops, like it!
October 4, 2010 at 3:38 am
October 4, 2010 at 3:39 am
That was actually 10th.
October 4, 2010 at 4:20 am
LoL @ removing the background. 😀
October 4, 2010 at 5:20 am
James, you are the man
October 4, 2010 at 5:25 am
Is that…”Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead” as the very first clip of this video? (Of the face being sliced in the meat slicer.) What a shitastic movie, ha ha. And I loved it. Well, the musical numbers were lame and the lead male actor looks like someone who’s probably a real asswipe in real life (and that dipshit mentality bleedsthrough in his performance), but really funny and pleasantly gory nonetheless.
October 4, 2010 at 5:26 am
Err, second clip, I mean.
October 4, 2010 at 5:38 am
ROFL!!! Hilarious way to end this one. XD
October 4, 2010 at 5:49 am
i saw this at about 10 and at some points i was scared but ususally i was laughing at the cheesey effects
October 4, 2010 at 5:52 am
every animal was harmed during the making of this film….
October 4, 2010 at 6:04 am
Love your Monster Madness videos James! Keep up the good work and i hope you never stop entertain us! 😀
October 4, 2010 at 6:21 am
I was wondering what that movie was called. It looks very cheezy.
October 4, 2010 at 6:38 am
lolol, another great job!
October 4, 2010 at 6:44 am
No one made a cheesy comment about the producers name? Bert “Eye” Gordon. *insert lame punchline drums here*
I am way to lame this early in the morning. My apologies.
October 4, 2010 at 7:05 am
Man, that has to be the lamest fucking movie other. Fucking slackers! I can’t believe they did that so cheap and with a great actor like Lon Chaney Jr. That was worse than any Ed Wood film. Can’t wait till the next one, James. They’ve been great so far.
October 4, 2010 at 7:08 am
Loll’ed so har at the beer.
@TwistedSpeech over here. Its not really the point to bash these films i think. Just enjoy the cheesy campines that they brought.
October 4, 2010 at 7:27 am
good review! 4 for 4!! A+++
October 4, 2010 at 7:48 am
That is one weird cyclops!
October 4, 2010 at 7:56 am
Oh shit, what was that movie where the dude was getting his face sliced off by the meat slicer? Anyone know?
Ah yes, the 50’s! The age of the atom, where EVERYTHING was huge, Ants, Killer Shrews, Gila Monsters, Leeches etc etc etc.
1957, I wonder if “Beast of Yucca Flats” (1961) will make this shitty, schlockfest..
Thanks for these bro. Love em!
October 4, 2010 at 8:36 am
You’re my hero James!
October 4, 2010 at 8:41 am
I’m thinking James may be in for it at Camp Cult.
As for Beast of Yucca Flats, that’s just terrible. No one should ever be subjected to that more than once.
October 4, 2010 at 9:16 am
LOL at the end.
I also need a beer.
Like the ending.
October 4, 2010 at 9:49 am
the ending is great, as are the mentions of classic Bert I. Gordon movies, which I was exposed to via Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
October 4, 2010 at 9:50 am
I can’t figure out what kind of beer that was… Becks maybe?
October 4, 2010 at 10:05 am
Monster Madness!!! 2010
This man never ceases to amaze me he works so hard to produce the most excellent videos ever.
October 4, 2010 at 10:28 am
“Man, this is too much to take. I need a beer.”
*picks up the background with the beer*
October 4, 2010 at 10:57 am
Haha, weird opening voice, but best MonsterMadnessode yet! Almost a bit AVGN-ish.. Fun stuff!
October 4, 2010 at 11:04 am
Well obviously he couldn’t grab him, he had no depth perception.
October 4, 2010 at 11:47 am
Of course he can’t grab the guy, he has no depth perception!
October 4, 2010 at 11:55 am
Great job James! Entertaining as always. I love Monster Madness.
October 4, 2010 at 11:57 am
That’s one horror that I will pass on.
October 4, 2010 at 12:27 pm
I lol’d at the end
October 4, 2010 at 12:32 pm
the end is great xD
October 4, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Another nice monster madness video James I agree the ending was great =)
October 4, 2010 at 1:17 pm
Holy shit! You cant believe how hyped I got when I saw the clip from Poultygeist: Night Of The Chicken Dead on the intro. Hope to see a review of that and other Troma movies in this years monster madness.
October 4, 2010 at 1:42 pm
Awesome reviews James. In fact I watched Dracula last night with Bela Lugosi, great classic movie. A few scenes in the movie were creepy as hell though, but great.
Hah! The ending cracks me up!!! 😀 The Cyclops looks like Jason Voorhees on Final Chapter!
October 4, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Haha, that movie looks so bad!
October 4, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Hahahahaha! “What happened?! Did he pick up the background too?!” Lmao. Great review.
October 4, 2010 at 2:25 pm
The ending is hilarious.
omg, I saw it when I was 8. Now I know the name of my nightmares))) lol
Awesome job, thanks!
October 4, 2010 at 2:28 pm
That has to be the worst “pick up” scene ive ever seen.
The director got lazy.
October 4, 2010 at 2:33 pm
i thought they moved the camera to the side to show the other characters.. Didn’t notice it was the background…!
October 4, 2010 at 3:36 pm
I’m a tad worried that since we’re already in 1957 therw won’t be many more 50’s B-movies… whatever.
October 4, 2010 at 4:00 pm
“I didn’t know you could DO THAT!” Haha. Thank you James, for another entertaining Monster Madness.
October 4, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Ha! That was hilarious! I love watching these old scary movies just for the crummy effects. Thanks for the clip!
October 4, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Uhhh. are these 20 or 30 seconds of video all there really is to say about these movies. I dont care how short they are compared to more modern films they should have other interesting factors behind them. I mean even a single one of the Edd Wood films (the royalty of cult films) had more to talk about than what you’ve talked about. If it would help, I’ll even help you with research so you can get more off your chest and can better enrich the horror movie retarded. (i mean that in the least offensive way of course)
July 19, 2014 at 7:24 pm
October 4, 2010 at 4:58 pm
Those monsters also remind me of an old movie i saw where some submariners were attacked by a monster and it was just a baby alligator with paper fins on its back and head… let that just sink in for a moment… the directors expected us to be afraid of a baby alligator with paper taped to its back.
October 4, 2010 at 5:14 pm
October 4, 2010 at 5:18 pm
does anyooone know how to change your picture on here like Kituvan_kitos did?
October 4, 2010 at 5:39 pm
This is awesome. I got to tell you man, I look forward to Monster Madness every year. Between you and my father, I’ve really become interested in films and their history, and Monster Madness provides a perfect insight into the horror genre and its best (and worst) films. Great job, man.
October 4, 2010 at 5:59 pm
lol iwas laughing perfectly along with the laugh at then end because of that camera trick joke u did. Great stuff
October 4, 2010 at 6:10 pm
This review is great. best one yet.
Gotta love those awesome-bad cinematic tricks. There’s just so god awful you can’t help but laugh and think, how did people in the 1957 react this movie? This one I’d track down and pay for whatever the price.
The lizard fight is just so amazing and leaves me awestruck with tears of laughter. And that is always the first time I saw that trick, who else done that? He picked up the woman, and the photo strip? Wow, just wow. that just happened?
I look forward to the next review!
October 4, 2010 at 6:18 pm
Definitely going to have to find this one on VHS or DVD and watch it now.
October 4, 2010 at 6:34 pm
Holy shit! The Cyclops stole the frame!
October 4, 2010 at 6:41 pm
i once saw a very similar trick in an old “EL santo” movie (Mexican wrestling actor), viewing the dates the ciclops was shooted first so El santo just copied a very lame scene… u_u …
October 4, 2010 at 6:42 pm
the trick i mentioned before was the pickup-wife escene.
October 4, 2010 at 6:53 pm
Great Ending! And you’re right, the cyclops looks pretty messed up!
Keep up the great work, James!
October 4, 2010 at 7:23 pm
XD at the end,good work!
October 4, 2010 at 7:50 pm
James’ face when they cut back to him at the end lol
October 4, 2010 at 8:04 pm
what’s up with his face?
October 4, 2010 at 8:37 pm
to those who complain the reviews are too short:
who cares?! they’re still entertaining! If you think they’re too short, just wait a few days and watch a few in a row.
October 4, 2010 at 8:49 pm
Haha, nice one. The ending made me laugh.
October 4, 2010 at 9:36 pm
hey, in the Cyclops defense, remember, he has only ONE eye! So his depth perception is off and he’s going to have problems grabbing at guys on a cliff, or accidentally grab the scenery along with the girl.
James, this was a great review. i swear i’m getting a crush on you. Keep up the great work!
October 4, 2010 at 9:42 pm
October 4, 2010 at 10:05 pm
I thought you were being the phantom from The Phantom of The Opera on lsd… oh well. Can’t win ’em all.
October 4, 2010 at 10:15 pm
Haha! Awesome ending James. I wasn’t expecting that.
Gotta love Monster Madness!
October 4, 2010 at 10:18 pm
Mr. junior sure likes punching people in the face
October 4, 2010 at 11:00 pm
Why can’t he grab the guy? Easy! He’s got no depth perception!
October 4, 2010 at 11:10 pm
Can’t wait for the next Monster Madness(loved the ending to this one btw)!
October 4, 2010 at 11:12 pm
October 4, 2010 at 11:29 pm
Excellent work James, excellent work
October 4, 2010 at 11:52 pm
Hahaha, fantastic. And that ending was hilarious. Awesome work, James, you make this month my favorite of all.
October 4, 2010 at 11:58 pm
October 5, 2010 at 12:00 am
Dang, I haven’t seen this movie in years. Probably not since Monster Vision.
October 5, 2010 at 12:09 am
Awesome. This is my first year to be a part of MONSTER MADNESS but been looking forward to it since this is my fav time of the year. Just wanna ask and hope you will read this question, are you a fan of Kevin Smith? Or have you seen any of his films? If so I would love to see you review them. Ive been a “clerk” my whole life so I would love to hear your comments or reviews on his work. lol…..
October 5, 2010 at 12:54 am
Awesome James. The monster’s face looks like a melted candle, it’s very funny.
Good work! I’m waiting for the next episode.
October 5, 2010 at 12:55 am
HAHAHA!!! I did not expect that.
October 5, 2010 at 2:02 am
Hahaha looks like a horrible movie. Love the ending!
October 5, 2010 at 2:07 am
For 1957 that makeup on the Cyclops doesn’t look half bad. It is quite impressive in fact.
October 5, 2010 at 2:25 am
October 5, 2010 at 3:42 am
Classic, this year is goin good so far!
October 5, 2010 at 10:38 am

October 5, 2010 at 2:34 pm
Sweet! I’m beginning to love this month.
October 5, 2010 at 4:37 pm
October 5, 2010 at 10:50 pm

October 6, 2010 at 12:59 am
Yea October is here for sure! Love the video’s jameskeep them coming.
October 6, 2010 at 5:09 pm
got the movie and never noticed the background grab ///////////// lol ///////////// good catch !!!
October 7, 2010 at 12:15 pm
This has easily taken the place of MonsterVision for me. All of your stuff is totally awesome, keep it up man!
I’m gonna have to get a new video card and TV so I can watch all your stuff on it. There’s not a damn thing to watch on TV but if this were on I’d watch it religiously.
The background?!?! WTF!
October 8, 2010 at 10:23 am
what no rolling rock?
October 8, 2010 at 11:28 pm
Beginning of the End! They made an MST3K of that one. “Alright, forget giant locusts. How about giant panda bears? And they fly!”
October 10, 2010 at 2:31 am
Wow. I never noticed that engagement ring before.
October 11, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Lol @ the end.
October 14, 2010 at 3:51 pm
why couldn’t he reach her? maybe he doesn’t have good depth perception! ;P
October 19, 2010 at 11:17 pm
Yeah, that is very similar to the Amazing Colossal Man. The effects errors were funny, and when you picked up the background along with the beer I lost it. 😀
October 25, 2010 at 5:06 pm
If you like those reptile cut-in monsters. You should see Journey to the Center of the Earth from 1959 directed by Henry Levin. It’s good! Actually cinemassacre should make at review of it.
January 20, 2011 at 4:39 pm
How delightfully humorous, chuckle chuckle chuckle. Great camera trick at the end.
August 1, 2011 at 10:50 pm
You be screaming all the time too if you were a deformed cyclops with no ability to blink your eye. That creature could really use some Clear Eyes.
August 13, 2011 at 11:50 am
This review has to be one of my favorites. The moving the whole background trick had me laughing so hard. I cannot wait for monster madness 2011!
October 7, 2011 at 4:09 pm
Why the hell is this flagged on youtube!?
January 10, 2012 at 5:28 pm
What’s the movie where the guy’s face is going into the meet slicer?
March 21, 2012 at 4:24 am
Jajajajajaja; this one’s great
January 2, 2013 at 3:34 am
The cyclops was pretty terrifying!
October 5, 2013 at 12:32 am
That effect is just great for being parodied
October 11, 2013 at 7:05 am
Something, something, peripheral vision.
July 19, 2014 at 7:21 pm
As the daughter of the Cyclops (Duncan “Dean” Parkin) at the age of three I remember watching the movie and crying thinking that my dad was dead and would never return home. Teenage years never told a soul who my dad played out of being embarrassed. Now being a grandmother of some horror movie fanatics I had to share what their great grandpa did. I then found myself going in search for his movies. Not only was I shocked to find them so easy but that he actually had a fan base. Over the past few years many have written and asked questions about him and his film rolls, I decided to create a page that all his friends and family can go to lean more about his life in and out of makeup. I hope to have it up and running soon. If anyone has any questions they would like to ask please feel free to post on my facebook and I will get right back to you. Jeannine Parkin
October 29, 2014 at 7:07 pm
When someone jumps on someone else, that’s not a body slam. It’s a body block or a splash. A body slam is when one combatant picks up and slams the other one.
June 27, 2015 at 10:37 pm
LOL that ending. people complaining about less AVGN eps. need to get in here and watch your movie reviews.
March 24, 2016 at 2:59 pm
hahahahha ! that ending !!! X’D
July 1, 2017 at 12:20 am
nice at the end there
