I love Family Matters, and still watch it from time to time on Nick at Nite. Although I do have to say that I like Perfect Strangers better πŸ™‚ Nothing was better than Balki and Larry’s slapstick humor

Man, am I the only person who thought the entire series wasn’t funny? Even when Urkel came on, I thought it was pathetic. There’s only one Nerd I like, and it isn’t this one.

On June 8, 2010, Warner Home Video released the complete first season of Family Matters on DVD for the very first time.

Hopefully the remaining seasons will come soon!

I actually own every episode on DVD that I bought online from some chinese e-tailer. It’s something like 38 dvds but only cost $50! The only annoying part is that the episodes are all the sydicated versions. This means that the theme music may not always be exactly the same as the original (for example, only the 1st episode on the dvds i have features “it’s a wonderful world” compared to the first 3 as originally aired). Also, the episodes recorded off ABC family cut out the little bits that often occured during the ending credits. Oh well, at least I have every episode ever!

    Gotta love the urkman.

@IcyNoodles , no. That a-bomb sequence was just a dream sequence of Laura’s in season 2.

being from germany, i used to watch family matters on german tv a lot in my childhood (the german title translates to “all under one roof” ^^), but i found urkel always annoying, because he had such a silly annoying voice in the german dub. watching his performance in english, i now understand why he has been so outstanding for the American viewers

Yeah, not a bad show, but I was a way bigger fan of Boy Meets World. I can’t believe they’re actually continuing that series. If Full House and Perfect Strangers are on DVD, I think Family Matters probably will be too, considering how popular it still is.

  • Sakenomi

    July 6, 2013 at 12:39 pm

Man, the ending was creepy as fuck, with all the sitcom laughs at the background and music. If it was real, AND if it was the finale, I bet the whole internet would talk about it today.

Family Matters was freaking awesome because of Urkel. Jaleel White is a phenomenal actor in my opinion, he has such incredible range just based on his work in Family Matters.

  • June 20, 2014 at 8:19 pm

  • September 10, 2015 at 6:29 pm

Since no one has mentioned yet, I’ll mention it here. Season 4 of Family Matters was released a year ago. However, they found a way to fuck it up. Somehow, the syndicated episodes were put on DVD instead of the original broadcast episodes. While Warner made a disc replacement program for those who were angry about this, the damage was already done. So far, they haven’t released the remaining 5 seasons on DVD after what happened. Granted, you can get the whole series on Amazon Instant Video Or iTunes,(Which is syndicated mind you.) but I’m more of a physical copy kind of guy.

Shocking to realize this came out almost 6 years ago, i remember when it was uploaded on youtube the very day, I watched it like 4 times, I hadn’t seen Family Matters up until then (I was 11), you turned me onto a great show, James. Now I’m 17 and Family Matters is still one of my all time favorites.

Number 5 is bittersweet. Michelle Thomas died way too young.
