I can appreciate what they where going for in this one. It seemed like a collective of parts 1,2,3 (sorry no Tommy Jarvis) but with the silly violence of the later films . Whatever, seeing Jason kill people is always fun. Except for that space one bullshit…

This movie is laughable. Just about everything in this movie is nonsense. Like how the abandon camp still has electricity for Jason’s underground lair. Who’s paying for that? How about Jason being an expert archer, that’s fucking stupid. Oh, yeah he has a real big problem with all the kids at the lake house. What about the people that built the lake house? Jason apparently had no problem with all the builders and construction. This shit just ruined the whole thing! Oh, and Jason sneaking around? This 7 foot tall monster is a stealthy ninja now? Don’t even waist your time with this piece of crap. Watch the older movies. Minus X and Hell.

As a fan of the Jason Voorhees character and the Friday the 13th films I really liked this movie and it’s a remake or reboot that doesn’t piss me off. Jason was fucking awesome in this movie and a whole lot smarter then in the past films. True, it really wasn’t anything new as far as Friday the 13th films go, but they made Jason a little more faster and gave you a more in depth look at how he does what he does, and there were a few kills in there that threw me for a loop, stuff I never saw or thought Jason could do. People are already shitting on the Nightmare on Elm Street remake(or reboot) and the damn movie hasn’t even made it to theaters yet, I am also a big fan of the Freddy Krueger character, and yes to me Robert Englund will always and forever be Freddy and I love original classic Nightmare on Elm Street and all the cheesy sequels, but I am more then willing to give Jackie Earle Haley and this new Nightmare on Elm Street a chance and so is Mr.Robert Englund from interviews I’ve seen online.

James, are you gonna do a review on the Nightmare remake?

  • May 6, 2010 at 2:26 am

I’ve heard from most critics (However, the users at IMDb disagree) that “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is extremely unoriginal, full of clich├ęs and sucks donkey dick. So prepare yourself!

I have to say, the pre-title sequence for this movie was very effective. The rest of the movie kind of left me wanting, but that opening sequence was awesome.

I saw this in the theatre with my friend and we’re both friday the 13th fans. I thought it was very “Meh” and my friend thought it was great. I’m never gonna see the elm st. remake becuase…fuck Micheal Bay.

HEY original Jason disappeared all the bodies and arranged them so ‘Final Girl’ gets to run into all of them, that shows nouse, not just Zombie what-not-plodding.

But say what you like about THIS remake, the other Supernatural Star’s effort was SOOOOOOOO much worse.

My My Bloody Valentine 3D review: Oh look anotherr pick to the face, the 14th in the past 10 mins…I’m so desensitised now I might start hitting people with picks.

i really am not a big fan of this seris. but when i do watch a friday the 13th movie, i dont care about plot, characters, or anything else. i just want to see people getting hacked to bits and gallons of blood.

Remakes are getting quite old, but I can get into quite a few of them. This film, however, completely messed up the character of Jason Vorhees. At times he reminded me of Batman with his dramatic poses on the roof, at other times he reminded me of Dr. Satan from House of a 1,000 Corpses with the whole underground lair. Also he’s a lot more clever than the original Jason. I can handle the cheese factor with movie remakes, but how in the blue hell do you f___ up one of the greatest (if not the greatest) slasher villain in horror?

I could make a subtitle for that film like FRIDAY THE 13TH FIRST BLOOD( and i’m not trying to rip off the name of the two rambo movies) and if they make another one that’ll be thirteen movies even though it sounds stupid i’m always ready for another friday the 13th film anyday.

Oh yeah “Venom51007” call it Friday the 13th – First Blood…. then the sequel we can call that Friday the 13th – First Blood Part 2…. and the third sequel Jason 3

yeah i agree but jason 3 wouldn’t be friday the 13th part 3 jasons revenge no wait thats not right friday the 13th part 3 jasons return and then part 4 jasons revenge i dont think they should do part 5 because part 5 was weird not to mention they didn’t have the real jason it was a dick head cop named roy pretending to be jason they should’ve made part V friday the 13th part V jason lives the part VI would be new blood and part VII would be jason takes manhatton Jason goes to hell would be VIII and jason x would be jason…IX u know what i think they should stop making space horror films cause then it will just fuck everything up like they did with jason and then what halloweeen x freddy jrueger x chucky x cause well u know what i mean bottom line no more space horror movies cause it just pisses people off

well James i think that whole “spoiler thing” was just a bad idea, ive seen reviews all the time, its a fucking review! what kind of dumbass decides to see a review of sumthing he or she hasnt seen yet?! and i think ur all wrong, Jason has been alot different through out the whole series, and u think the fact hes been living in that camp for years that hes not going to be a pro archer? and that hes just going to NOT sneak up on his victims? cmon, its called experience, with years in that place hes bound to make creative traps, improve skills like archery and stealth, and ofcourse it has blood and tits, u think Jason is going to kill some1 without leaving blood? and u think a couple of drunk teenagers arent going to have sex and considering its rated R, u think ur not going to see a sex scene? cmon, all ur opinions suck, im sorry -_- and none of u like the ending? i would like to see one of u come up with a better ending thats not “cliche” or simply “bad” as u put it, u gotta remember its reminiscent of the first Friday The 13th ending, and another thing: ur pissed that he runs?! are u kidding me?!! that he RUNS? the stalker-walk was a michael myers thing, go see halloween if u want a slow-killer, Jason is completely capable of running, also things like talking as well, and u guys say they fcked Jason up?! are u kidding me? hes still strong as hell, hes faster, hes stealthier, hes bigger, his aim is perfect, his creativity is awsome, his rage is bigger, hes still invincible, and tons of more stuff, they made him better! the hell are u talking about?! and if ur comparing to the old Jason, well i guess u can say he changed alot, so what? is that so bad? and it rly depends which “old Jason” your talking about, bottom line: your all wrong

I’ve not seen the remake (or reboot) yet, but I’m not sure what to expect from it. First of all, I like the look of this new Jason, he actually runs after his victims so there’s less chance of them surviving (I don’t get why he walked after his victims in the earlier films). I’m glad that Jason was played by Derek Mears in this movie, because he also played the Predator in Predators, making him the first actor to play 2 of my favourite villains.
Also, I don’t think this film should be called a remake since it doesn’t follow the first Friday the 13th in anyway, besides the fact that there’s a psycho killer and a body count. I consider this to be a reboot to the franchise.

one thing the one that must be remade is either is jasonx jason goes to hell (or friday the 13th part IX the final friday as its called) and pt 5 new beginning that one got a zero and i don’t feel that there should’ve been two more sequels after new blood that movie has got the balls in movie history part VIII was good but not as good as part VII.

  • MadGamer

    September 6, 2010 at 11:29 pm

No the new Friday the 13th part 4-5 or 6 would probably be called Jason Voorhees. Oh and how about Jason vs Rocky? I’ll see that! Who wouldn’t? Seriously.Wouldn’t you go see Jason vs Rocky?

    September 10, 2010 at 5:47 pm

for some reason people are saying theres gonna be another remake and said that it will be remade again by who other than ROB ZOMBIE but its just a rumor so it can’t be true it has also been rumored that theres gonna be a remake of HALLOWEEN III coming in either next fall of 2011 or fall of 2012 and that it’s gonna be 3-D but it’s not directed by ROB ZOMBIE so WTF.

  • ThrashKid

    September 23, 2010 at 12:56 am

Everyone who is pissed about Jason running is NOT a true fan of the series. If they were, they would know that Jason runs in the original run of films until he actually dies and comes back from the dead. Watch Friday The 13th part 2, tell me he doesnt run in that movie.
As for the archer thing, watch Friday The 13th part 3 he has a pretty accurate shot with a harpoon gun (I believe) in that film.

Lastly, if you have EVER seen a Friday The 13th film, you know its always just over the top fun. These films arent meant to be taken seriously.

Yea i kind of agree alote with him on this one. So many people i know were up this movies ass when it came out saying its awsome. I dont hate on remakes I give them all a chance usually. The old movies will always be there so having a remake isnt going to make the old version poof into dust. Yea the deaths really sucked. the way jason was suposedly tookin out sucked hard as well. jason himself looked cool. I dont know how i feel about the khaki stuff but egh i dont care. I kinda liked the noes remake tho. cgi bed scene aside…

    October 18, 2010 at 12:09 am

Being a fan of the Friday the 13th franchise, I have to say that I hated this one. They’re doing a reboot of the first Friday, but they have Jason in his hockey mask? First off, Jason wasn’t even in the first film. Well, at least 9/10ths of it. For those that haven’t seen it, I won’t say any more. He didn’t get the mask until part 3, the 3D Friday. So, if this is a reboot, they have completely changed the universe around. That wouldn’t be bad necessarily in more competent hands, but whoever wrote/directed this movie obviously hasn’t seen the entire series. I think a faithful remake of the original, done right, would be fantastic. I can’t say more without giving spoilers for the other films, but yeah, this movie pissed me off more than anything.

I only have one big problem with this movie why is it Jason and not his mom, is it a remake of number 2????did they think hey no ones gonna care but that’s like re making the back to the future movies and leaving out one of the movies, Jason wants revenge caused they killed his mom, not cause they tortured him..

I was Lucky when I see this I got too see it for free cause my friend she worked at the theater she seen how bad it was and cut me break and hooked me and girlfriend up but it was okay nothing awesome though I was just happy I got too see a new movie for free lol

  • natethegreat911

    March 6, 2011 at 11:17 pm

I have to say that the remake wasn’t that bad. I’ve seen a lot of remakes that just plain out suck. Yes, I know the original Friday the 13th didn’t have Jason in it but in the beginning of the movie it does explain what happens as far Jason drowning in the lake and his mom’s head being decapitated. But if they came out with a remake without Jason in it, you wouldn’t expect to many people to see it.

  • rex1983

    April 24, 2011 at 8:27 am

I was really disappointed with this movie because it’s a re-make of the original but in the original Jason is nowhere to be seen and his mother MS Voorhees was the killer.

  • ElvisPresley

    April 24, 2011 at 10:04 am

I don’t really care that it’s not exactly like the first one. To be honest, for the most part (of the original), I was like “where in fuck is Jason?” And it was a little bit of a let-down. Also, I prefer when a remake is different. If I wanted the same film, I’ll just watch the original. I suppose they could have changed the title, because this could have happened anywhere in the series.

My main gripe is with Jason. Is he a retard or a ninja? I mean, he does all this commando bullshit throughout the movie – setting traps, cutting phone lines e.t.c. With the smarts he posses in this movie, one wonders how he got stuck at Crystal Lake.

  • connor64

    April 27, 2011 at 7:53 pm

dude wot you on about it was awsome i mean its not the best in the series but it was far better than jason goes to hell or freedy vs jason and i know you might of seen a longer version cus u live in the states and i live in wales but it deserved more than two and a half machetes at the most it deserved four and the ending might of been old its a classic and i went to the cinema to see it and seconds after that ending everyone went crazy for it they loved it

Reading some of the above comments is painful, are you people just plain dumb. Its a reboot, not a scene for scene remake. There are elements from the first three films, it is shown and explained what happened to Mrs. Voorhees, He has the burlap sack, He finds the hockey mask. Theres a few key parts from 1-3. Its a good movie, i hate every character except Clay, and was happy when they all got cut to shit, God i hate druggies. Anyway, good movie, part 2b? is suppose to be made soon, and no you idiots, it wont be a scene for scene remake either, it will have original material as well, while possibly making reference to the originals.

  • hoboman123

    August 24, 2011 at 12:45 am

for all the people who’s big problem is that it isn’t faithful to the original watch the movie the opening credits are the end of the first the first small bit Jason is wearing the sack and then gets the hockey mask they probably did this because most people think of friday the 13th with jason and his hockey mask

This movie felt more like a Drama rather than a horror. It didn’t have that factor most of the films once held, I loved Jason in this film but I didn’t enjoy the gore nor the ways he killed people.
I didn’t mind the Protagonist nor his polar opposite but the death just didn’t feel Friday the 13th. It was ok overall, just didn’t feel like it though.

  • Stefanoragnopazzo

    August 29, 2012 at 10:56 am

James…but in a reboot wouldn’t be appropriate to see Jason’s mom?

  • October 8, 2013 at 10:51 pm

I loved the friday remake. after that piece of shit fvj movie, I was definitely ready for an old school friday movie – and they delivered.

  • PresidentJenkins

    October 28, 2013 at 11:48 am

I think “okay” is the best description of F13-2009. It’s attempt at being realistic (which I believe is the reason why there is no over the top gore) ended up hindering the movie’s quality, more than helping it. I feel like they could’ve just done better and that really what it all comes down to. It just lacks in all departments and besides making Jason smarter, this just ends up being an incredibly forgettable film.

  • February 18, 2014 at 6:04 pm

The originals were some of the goriest scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Like knives through necks. This wasn’t as gory but thats okay. I hated the deer horns kill tho that was lame. I heard Jason was gonna throw a guy in the woodchipper but sadly it was Jason himself.

  • February 26, 2015 at 2:52 am

I didn’t mind this one, I really really thought it was gonna be a terrible Texas Chainsaw Massacre level remake…but I liked it.

Part of it though….was my fandom for Jared Paladecki aka Sam from Supernatural was in it. I thought considering what he does on Supernatural and what he is doing here is kind of funny.
