I was 9 years old when i watched this movie, but i only tuned in to the part where Godzilla blows Orga up, so i thought that was the entire battle, Orga came, Orga swallowed, and Orga got blown up. Pretty disappointing then. But godzilla defienantly looks at his best in this movie.
Remember this movie. Remember people were laughing at it in the theater, I’ll admit I was too. lol It was better than Independence Day’98, but that doesn’t automatically make it a good movie….
i personally loved this movie, and the only reason i can think of was because i was 7 when i saw it and knew nothing of godzilla, but even now i still enjoy it. but i agree that it should not of been called godzilla
Oh, and by the way, If he would have seen GODZILLA’S REVENGE his face would have been like: This is the worst nasty shitbomb of a movie I’ll ever see! I thought I did not like american movies (no offense, i’m mexican).
Something not mentioned is that like 10 minutes of the movie was missing from the US release. Also, there was another big problem I had with the DVD (which is why I never bought it). If you look at the language selection, it has English, Spanish, and French. I just remember looking at it and thinking “Isn’t there one missing?” That’s right, the original Japanese isn’t on the US DVD but there’s a grand total of 3 other languages. Who knows, maybe they referenced a cut scene and none of it would have made sense. I remember being so excited to grab this DVD and then immediately putting it down and decided not to buy it.
I hadn’t seen any Godzilla movie until a couple years ago ( the 1998 one). I assumed this was a sequel and skipped it, but I for sure would’ve been like WTF? It’s hard to say that going back to the rubber suit is better, you must have to be a fan.
and as of 2014, it’s not the last. There was another American film which was close to the original canon of Godzilla by having him be as sort of anti-hero and fighting off these bat-like kaijuu.
