This one’s my all time favorite film ever! Nothing beats a Spielberg classic!

  • April 22, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I wouldn’t say that “Jaws” is a horror movie.

When I watched this movie as a kid, i got so scared, I refused to go in the tub for bathing.
And thus I’ve used the shower ever since…

@Ebik_Von_Phail I don’t know if I should be sorry or just laugh out loud.

    1. Jaws was made in the 70’s and of course is pretty tame compared to today’s films.
    2. It is a horror-thriller. ‘nough said.
    3. Horror and Gore are two completely different things and you just can’t compare “Jaws” to “Saw”, or any other gorefest. You just can’t.

    • February 7, 2015 at 1:08 pm

what kind of argument is you saying “‘nough said”?
And what’s with all these genre combos nowadays?
Just the other day I read a description of “Cube” being a *clears throat* horror-thriller-drama-scifi.
Bottomline, if you had to pick just ONE, you’d pick thriller wouldn’t you?

The only scary part I can think of is when one of them dives down into the sea and finds that dead lady.

Jaws wasn’t written with the shark playing only a limited visual role. The mechanical innards of it kept breaking down in the salt water, and Spielberg was afraid it wouldn’t be convincing enough.

Actually worked out 4 the better. The fact you don’t see it as much makes you believe it’s that macho of a predator. Everytime u see it u flip out.

To bad the series was turned into shit by jaws the revenge now people are saying theres a fith one and it has another sub title its called jaws 5 resurface i mean come on they can’t top the first two, jaws 3 was an okay film but jaws the revenge was horse shit they should’ve ended with jaws 3 cause we don’t really need so much sequels like the new nanny mcphee returns it should stop there and be done same thing with halloween now theres seven of them and yes i said seven because Halloween3 really doesn’t count as a halloween film, bottom line no more sequels to horror films that are masterpieces it’s getting ridiculous and annoying.

There was an explanation of why jaws 4 was so crappy when they were filming the part where the shark attacks the banna boat u see while the cameraman was filming the shark a real great white shark attacked him and chewed off his right arm and he died thats why it took a while before jaws 4 was released.

The scene in the beginning with that woman who swims alone at night and the shark bites her and then eats her is haunting. I mean just imagine that. Being alone in the sea at night and realize that a shark just bitten your leg off and in a few seconds he will probably come for the rest of you…

I was 6 years old when I discovered the “JAWS” franchise. They were playing a triple feature, at my local drive-in, and they were playing JAWS, JAWS 2, and JAWS III (and of course JAWS III was in 3-D) I think everything was 3-d back in 1982 lol.

Scared the living shit out of me, but I LOVED it all the same.

This was a staple of my early childhood. I got to see it since my mother loved it and it always terrified me that my friends and I would jump in and out of the swimming pool convinced Jaws was there!

Ever Since I had went to Orlando, Flordia back in 2006 and I had rode the ride “Jaws”. I became really interested in “Jaws” and watched the documentries and own all the “Jaws” movies. In my Opion it’s one of the best movies ever made probably in my top 10.

I still fucking think twice when I enter the sea to take a swim, after I watched this movie with my sister and mother around midnight back in 1992/93 or something, I always check the waters. Great fucking movie! Spielberg really needs to do another horror movie.

  • July 6, 2013 at 1:18 pm

I got a PETA commercial on this one. Ironic, huh?

Ouch, Also I found “THE REEF” one of the scariest movies I ever watched but it’s not nearly in the “camp” territory.

Mos def one of the best movies of all time! No other movie can pull off such great action adventure, great horror, suspense, and actually terrify you. This is the reason I’m paranoid every time I’m in the ocean.

    One of my favorites!

I live in Massachusetts, so the ocean is in my blood. When people who aren’t from around here visit, they are always piss scared to set foot in the water, no matter how much I try to explain to than that you are more likely to die of a vending machine crushing you when you go to buy a bag of chips, but they never wanna hear it. Especially around here, where shark attacks only happen once or twice a year, with only minor injuries resulting.
