I own a ps3 and a single game… cod5… Although some of the nintendo games are awsome and i really wish they would of remake the zelda series from start so they get the chronological times right and uncunfusing. I grew up with nintendo and i love some of their wii versions, i went for the ps3 cause of the blueray plus the storage! I’d like to see some of my older games though from nintendo such as mario 3, double dragon and Zelda 🙂 PS3 is awsome but i hated the fact that they removed the ps2 backward compatibility. I sold my ps2 to get the ps3, and as soon as i had the money to buy it they discountinued the ps2 backwards models 🙁 therefore i ended up with a bunch of awsome games that i can’t play such as metal slug collection and dragon ball z. If ps3 wants to stay in buisness they need to bring the ps2 backwards even if they raise the price of their units and nintendo needs to bring back some of their old classics back to life. I don’t know too much about the xbox except that they charge to play online and they don’t have a built in wifi… in other words, xbox sucks.

it is kind of happening again in a good way, i don’t know maybe, there have been a lot of things coming out lately, DS, DS Lite, DSI, DSI XL, psp, psp 2000-3000(slim), psp go, ps3 slim, the list goes on I can go on for ever, the only thing that hasn’t really had any re-releases is the Wii, personally I like all three, some day I will get my hands on all the good old and new consoles, slowly but surely

  • April 29, 2010 at 5:25 pm

i love nintendo but xbox and ps3 are getting some kickass games but i want a new nintendo system to come out because there running out of ideas they have uptated the ds like 100 times and the wii sensor dosent work on some tvs very well so i want a branned new system

Yeah, the handheld market seems to be way too full of different versions of the systems. 4 different for each handheld, and way too many PS3 SKU’s, same with 360. That’s what I like about the Wii, same thing the whole time, just not many games I’m too fond of

    May 25, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Nintendo may not win but they can’t really lose. No matter how popular or unpopular FPS’s, the bulk of Sony and Microsoft’s library get, Microsoft and Sony will always be electronic companies, and Nintendo will always be a videogame company. Nintendo will always be able to produce their own content, which Sony/Microsoft can’t, because they have to make every other electronic in existence. Nintendo fans will always love Mario, Zelda, and all the things that make Nintendo great, while FPS’s will eventually die. A whole 2 systems can’t exist just for COD. At some point, the company behind COD will probably make their own system, and then PS3 and XBOX, well…

  • TheWizard

    May 26, 2010 at 4:55 pm

I honestly think the WII concept was awesome, but it was executed poorly. most games could be played without using the motion technology, making the WiiMote just a weird shaped wireless controller. When games did use the technology, they tended to be point and click. The detection has to be placed just right and the D-pad doesn’t do much at all. I’m waiting for the next generation (though I do own a Wii). This is just my opinion.

  • Flared

    June 6, 2010 at 10:58 am

Console wars will go on for as long as consoles exist, but none will ever triumph over the true hardcore player’s system, the Neo Geo AES/MVS =D

  • Remus

    June 13, 2010 at 5:08 pm

Sorry, but the Wii sucks compared to the 360 and PS3. Yes, the motion controls can kick ass in some games (Metroid Prime 3 Corruption is the prime example), it’s cheap and it continous Nintendo’s line of classic games like Mario, Zelda and Metroid.

But if it wasn’t for those A+ games, the Wii would be dead by now. Third-party support is poor, many new games NEVER get a release on the Wii, no HD or DVD-playback and a generally poor implementation of the Wii’s controls.

The Wii is such a success because Nintendo successfully managed to exploit the Wii’s novalty-factor and because it was the cheapest console on the market when it was released.

Now I own a Wii and I really enjoy playing with it. But must-have games are sparse and Nintendo takes ages to release new ones. Right now, my Wii is collecting dust…

I think every console are good . I own a Xbox 360 and a Wii . When i first bought Wii , i thought it was fun . But , the library of game is kinda pathetic . And the controls doesn’t work fine all the time . I play with my gamecube controller for Super Smash Bros Brawl , that’s how much i hate Wii controller . My Wii is now taking dust in my closet , one scratch there and there . It’s been 2 years since i used it . I don’t like Wii , and i agree that Nintendo is AWESOME with handheld consoles . They did a great job with the Nintendo DS ,even if there’s so many DS now . I think PS3 and Microsoft got a better chance to win that war . Not only for Call of Duty (Only campaign is worth playing) , but for other games too . One thing i love about Nintendo , is that they have their own chracters , their trademark . Mario , Metroid , Zelda , Kirby and all that . I also grew up with Nintendo , but now , unless they make a new console , i won’t really be in Nintendo . If it’s for the PSP vs Nintendo DS , i prefer Nintendo DS . It’s so fun to use a stylus , that gives so many possibility . That’s my opinion on that ”war” .

  • JackredluM

    August 7, 2010 at 1:46 pm

this whole war thing has been going on for ages like he said, i remember in old magazines there would actually be drawings in there made by fans where sonic was killing mario and vice versa.

the recent war is more between Sony and Microsoft, they have a similar library of games, Wii is like the odd one out and dirt cheap so it will survive.
i own both a ps3 and a 360 and i have to say that my ps3 which i own since the release has never broken down but i don’t like Playstation network, i take Xbox Live over Playstation network anyday.

the whole achievement system is awesome, unlike the trophy system you can actually see that somebody has a lot of games just by the score alone.
i own a lot of ps2 titles like 115 or so but many i have never finished.
but with my 360 where i have 140 games, i actually go back to older games and try to complete them.

i hate the directional pad on the 360, why did it have to be a disc like thing? it’s flipping hard to do a shoryu-ken without doing an hadoken instead. and fatalities in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 are a nightmare to pull off.

Games wise it’s more what you like, Gears of war on 360 or Resistence on ps3.
sure playstation has MGS4 and such, but then Microsoft has Rare, the company that made great Nintendo classics like Donkey Kong Country and Banjo Kazooie.

i think that the wii kicks ass and alot of people say that it wouldnt be awsome if it wasn’t for mario, zelda, metroid or any other of those games but the X Box 360 wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Halo or Gears of War and most people get the PS3 or 360 because of CoD so those systems wouldn’t exist either unless CoD was around and the people i know only get the 360 for Halo or Gears so the 360 only has 2 good games just for it that are only for the system? that is very sad and the playstation is far better. and the Wii can now play movies with netflix so IN YOUR FACE!!! oh yeah and Mike is there any system that you are going for? i’d love to know. and can James perhaps review Atomic Runner on the Genesis it’s good but it cheats!!!

  • superPSWii60 3 Dude

    September 9, 2010 at 7:09 pm

Also can you review TMNT hyperstone heist on the Genesis and maybe do a part 2 review of dick tracy about the Genesis version? i also have this fighting game on the Genesis called eternal champions and it is hard as shit. or TMNT Tournament Fighter on the Genesis or maybe another good game review about the original megaman series or could you at least tell me if James has ever played megaman 10 i’d love to know since i already know that he played 9. or even compare the MK series on the Genesis, SNES, and arcade format and maybe mention the plug n’ play version. please comment back Mike or James.

When the 360 was released i was just about to buy it. But decided that I would buy it until a certain amount of interesting games would be released … i’m still waiting. I mean it has RARE, and rare games were good in nintendo, why not on 360? Halo gets boring after beating it once, as well as gears. The other “Hits” of xbox are also on ps3. A videogame console is about games not about features (which are helpful i know).
I prefer the wii over the other 2 because by now it has at least 16 fun games (good ones and exclusive ones of course). the ps3 has like 7, and the xbox those 2.
online gaming sucks, just full of hackers, and do the same thing over and over again.
i salute the wii for not being the worst and still having a lot of games, and not dying after some months of being bought like the 360 or some old editions of ps3.

You forgot something really important – the PC. It’s not just a simple gaming system, but neither are the Nintendo, PS and XBox any more, though that’s their primal goal.

I grew up with NES, but then I screwed everything else and jumped over to the PC (that was around ’97). Since then I cannot feel total control in a game without a mouse and keyboard. Come on, FPS with joypad? Thats ridiculous!

Plus I don’t think anyone can deny that the best games are on PC (except may be for huge fans of console games like James :] )

  • October 23, 2010 at 1:19 am

I like Wii best still, i have an Xbox and a Wii, but Xbox 360s are the most crappily made systems i’ve ever seen, i’m afraid to even touch mine out of fear that it’ll break,i’ve needed it to be replaced twice now, and i’ve only had it for about 3 years, while my super nintendo that was new back in 1991 still works like it did the day i got it, and my snes has been beat to hell through the years. Microsoft has good quality games, especially if you like first person shooters, (seriously at least half of all xbox 360 games are fps) but you gotta pay out your ass for them, pay to play online, pay for dlc, pay for a second controller, pay for a cooling fan, pay for a rechargeable battery, pay to replace your broken systems, its a fucking mess, however the Wii allows me to play old NES and snes games via virtual console, that instantly makes the Wii better imo

  • BleedGreen215

    November 24, 2010 at 3:04 am

My opionion, the best console is the PS3 and then the 360 and then the Wii.
I grew up in the early 90’s and I had a NES, Sega Genisis and a Super NES. I loved the Sega the ost by far, the games looked better and Sonic was so much better than Mario.
Fast forward to today, I’m 21, Sonic licks Mario’s balls anymore and there are 3 consoles to choose from. I have all three and I will say the PS3 is the best available, followed by the 360 and then last but not least the Wii.

I like the Wii but all of its games are shitty unless its brand characters like Mario, DK, Zelda, Metroid. The technology is revolutionary but sometimes annoying having to wiggle a remote to make mario attack and so on. Also the Wii has graphics that slightly edge the Ps2 and1st Xbox. The Xbox 360 is a hassel, no wi-fi so you ahve to buy an adapter or use an ethernet cord, o yeh and pay to play online too, its exclusive games are great but i hardly play mine anymore, the PS3 has built in wifi, free online gaming, and good exclusive titles. only downer is that the trophy system blows.

  • the_hitman86

    January 19, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Let’s be fair here. The X Box and the Playstation 3 are practically the same system. They share the same library of games, with the odd exception, so what it really comes down to in the end is your preference of Halo against Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo against whatever driving game is exclusive to the 360.

Nintendo on the other hand have some really fun exclusive games on the Wii. The Mario/Zelda/Donkey Kong/Metroid games are all fantastic, Metroid Other M being my personal favourite. Goldeneye on the Wii was a lot of fun and I actually had more fun playing that than playing the Call of Duty games. On top of that the Virtual Console for the Wii is epic. It’s given me the chance to play old favourites from the NES and SNES library that I hadn’t played in over fifteen years. On top of that it gave me the chance to play some great games that I missed as a kid.

Bottom line: For me Nintendo dropped the ball when they released the Gamecube. They’ve learnt from their mistakes and look certain to go from success to success.

    Anyway,Go Nintendo!

  • June 1, 2011 at 2:51 pm

You’re right, James. The Nintendo Wii was the best-selling system of all time. And now that that’s died down, Nintendo is planning on releasing their next system next year, while Sony and Microsoft have made an agreement to wait until 2015 before releasing their next generation. I’ve heard that Nintendo is going to focus more on hard-core gamers like us, and that technology is cheap enough now that they can build a system that will outpower the 360 and PS3 for fairly cheap, so they can sell for cheap and still turn a profit, unlike how Microsoft and Sony have been doing it, losing money on every system they sell. The following 3 years will be great for Nintendo, until Microsoft and Sony come back into play in 2015.

  • MikeyNewJin

    July 10, 2011 at 1:38 am

This was awesome James. I have all three systems. Xbox is the best to play online. The Wii is the best to play locally together. PS3 is the most powerful/features. I say the “war” is between Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo will not get pushed out like Sega. The Wii sells the most units but the 360 probably makes the most profit because they charge for everything. The Wii does motion better than any of the other two consoles (Moave and Kinect). I’d say the worst of the three is the Xbox(PS3 does everything it does and more). PS3 and Wii both have good exclusive titles. It’s your preference in GAMES to decide which is better.

Well Nintendo lost the war. woho, fucking piece of shit console. worst game, worst graphics and the worst fucking controller. Xbox 360 all the way. all tho the 360 makes as much noise as a jetplane is still kick ass with the games.

Each system has its own ups and downs, though technically the ps3 is better technologically, followed by the xbox360, then the wii.

Each has their own exclusive games like the halo series for the Xbox.
all of the consoles are unique, but I prefer the Xbox

For one, its american, I’m american, nuff said. second, its a newer console, as in, there was only Xbox and Xbox360, compared to Sony with the ps1, 2, and 3. and finnally, I love halo 😀

      January 19, 2012 at 5:45 am

We have one of each. My family that is.

A Wii, an Xbox 360, and a PS3. They are all great, but honestly, I prefer the PS3. I don’t like the joysticks on the PS3 though. They’re too floppy, and hard to control. The ones on the Xbox feel a lot better to me. Your thumb fits in them, they don’t seem as high, and they’re a bit stiffer. Do I have any options as a PS3 owner, as far as after market controllers that might suit me better?

  • August 20, 2011 at 12:06 am

As it already been said, all that Sony and Microsoft seem to care about are good graphics and whose system is better. To me, it’s like comparing a horse turd covered in glitter and chocolate chips to another horse turd covered in glitter and white chocolate chips.
Personally, Sony’s been around long enough that I’ve learned to accept them as a major console developer. However, Microsoft shouldn’t be making consoles. While in my personal opinion, the 360 is better than the PS3, that doesn’t mean that they should be making another. Look at how Windows is doing against Apple! Ever since Microsoft started putting focus on the 360, it seems like Apple has become more popular than Microsoft. Granted, they may not have much to do with each other, but it seems like more than a coincidence to me.
Now Nintendo seems to be different because they seem to listen to their loyal fans.People complained about the graphics (which really don’t matter that much. The world will can go on without 1080p HD.) so they upped the graphics of the DS when they made the 3DS and are upping the graphics of the Wii with the Wii U. People complained about the “waggle” so they improved it with the Motion Plus and are changing it with the Wii U (At least, that’s what it looks like.).
Not only that but Nintendo also has it’s classic and unique franchises that, while they might fall back on them often, are still great and you know are still going to be great.
I just think that Nintendo’s always going to outlast the competition. They may not out perform, but they will always outlast.

(P.S. Goldeneye (the N64 version) > Halo and CoD put together)

    • Tyler Barker

      January 31, 2013 at 10:54 pm

How did the Wii lost when it sold more units than Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 nearly combined?

  • November 15, 2011 at 2:42 pm

Look, don’t believe what these companies shitty marketing campaigns tell you. Don’t listen to the hype about which system is more powerful or better graphics or whatever. Base it off of the games.
For me, the Wii was the best choice because of the huge gamecube library available (and there were a ton of GREAT gamecube games) the virtual console service, and the fact that nintendo’s big name character franchises almost ALWAYS delivers solid gameplay experiences. I mean, I’m rarely disappointed with a mario game or zelda game or metroid game.
Plus, there are WAAY too many games on the 360 and PS3 that rely on multiplayer. A game should be graded on its single player mode, not multiplayer mode. You know why? Because when you grade a game by its multiplayer, you’re really grading how much fun your friends are. You get a bunch of friends together and you can play a really shitty game and still have a good time, it doesnt mean its a good game. If a game is made BETTER by having multiplayer, then great. If you have an awesome game made even more awesome by having multiplayer, then that’s even better.
Bottom line, don’t eat the shit that the marketing team spoon-feeds you. Think for yourself, play the game for yourself.

I’m done ranting and raving. I’m sure most of this will fall on deaf ears anyways.

Nintendo all the way. I grew up on Nintendo and I still prefer it over other consoles. Sure the PS3 and Xbox have better specs, their games will just never match the love I have for Nintendo. I bought a Wii U not too long ago and I love it. Pikmin 3 came out and it’s fun as hell. But I also have an Xbox. They both make good games, and are both really fun consoles to play. But I have to stick with my roots, and vote for Nintendo.
