James / December 15th, 2017
Plus some of my favorite films of 2017 that I never had the chance to review.

Great review guys. Anyone else feel now that Disney owns both Star Wars and Muppets we need a Star Wars Muppets movie sometime in the future?

I can’t wait for the Yoda meets Grover scene. “Mmm! Same voice have we!”

Wait, does Disney own Sesame Street? I guess just substitute for Miss Piggy.

Unfortunately Disney doesn’t own the Sesame Street or Fraggle Rock characters, surprised they haven’t bought them yet. It’s probably on Disney’s to do list of things to buy.

I thought it was really good. The only thing I’m a little unhappy with is how incongruous it is with The Force Awakens. I feel like Snoke and Rey’s parentage were afterthoughts. That’s the bulk of my criticism.
The saddest part about the Leia thing is that Carrie Fisher was supposed to be a big part of Episode IX, same as Han was a big part of VII and Luke was a big part of VIII. It seemed like each sequel was supposed to give an original character a proper send-off and this movie didn’t do that for Leia (Lucasfilm has already confirmed she won’t appear in the next movie).
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Blade Runner 2049, Colossal, The Disaster Artist and Jim & Andy. I love that James Franco inhabited Tommy Wiseau the same way Jim inhabited Andy. This year, I also Mother!, It and A Cure for Wellness. Still looking forward to The Shape of Water and Downsizing before the year is up.

Bud, wit respect, TLJ is a good film, while TFA was a pretty bad film. There was heavy lampshading in TLJ to acknowledge some of the failings of TFA. TLJ actually has character arcs, unlike TFA. TLJ is not simply rehashing earlier plots but is advancing the narrative, giving new substance to the SW universe. TLJ redeems and corrects some of the problems of TFA, which is no easy thing.

I agree that TLJ improved on it TFA in every way, but the fact that we have all been speculating on Rey’s parents/Snoke’s identity for two years and then it was all thrown away (maybe?) makes me feel a little cheated. I feel like they were being set up for some other purpose.

Worst Star Wars movie yet… Episode 1 was better at least it had Darth Maul. Nothing happened the movie was completely pointless. We basically watched the Resistance look for a gas station for two hours. It added nothing to the Star Wars universe but more toys for them to sell, which has been the point of star wars for awhile I’m aware, but at least they were trying. I have officially forgiven George Lucas for Jar Jar after watching this movie.

Were you 2 drinking Rolling Rock before this movie? This movie is disappointing. Pointless subplot with 2 dull characters, dismissed villain, no worthy light saber battle, and Luke was completely wasted. There is literally no fun scene to return to, ala darth maul fight or Anakin on the speeder going after the sand people. There isnt even any touching moments ala Rey calling the saber over Rin or Yoda lifting the X wing. Theres nothing, NOTHING of replay value.

It was terrible. At times I thought I was watching a sequel to Spaceballs!

You’re gonna hate on shitty games and praise a shitty movie?……..There’s nothing about this piece of shit that’s redeemable. They had a golden opportunity to make one of the best Star Wars films ever and they made the decision to shit on it all whether it made sense or not.

@DCHI Thing to keep in mind about James and Mike… they tend to be more forgiving of movies. They aren’t looking through things so much through a critical lens, as through the lens of a fan. So, keep that in mind when watching. As for me… had no interest in watching this movie, so I decided to spoil it. I listened to a lot of fan reviews on this, and they all pretty much said the same thing: this movie sucked. And after hearing about the plot points, I agree with what one commentator said: Star Wars is dead.

Well this is a typical fanboy review! I feel with Star Wars there are two kinds of reviews – the fanboy ones and the realistic independent viewer ones. The two episodes from the new trilogy are so inconsistent that I cannot even describe it! Where the fuck did Snope come from and how did he die like a fucking lamer? Why is Kylo Ren such a total disappointment? I mean this is the worst antagonist in movie history ever! And BOMBERS IN SPACE!!! THE FUCK! You have to draw the line of fiction at some point! I understand it is a fantasy story, but BOMBERS IN FUCKING SPACE! And Lea floating in space and suddenly coming back to the ship! COME ON!

Look how happy they are in the above screenshot. Why do you want to take that away from them? Aren’t people allowed to feel happiness and joy for their own reasons without someone pooh-poohing on them for what they think is “right”? Isn’t feeling like a kid again what Star Wars is all about? I stopped taking it all so seriously after the last film. Like James said, for me, the proper saga ended at Episode VI. I enjoyed this movie for what it was.

Jim Henson magic is what Star Wars is missing now, that’s what.

I don’t understand the evay I’ve comments hear, especially from the guy who admitted he didn’t even see the film and isn’t is basing his opinion just on what other people wrote. I watched the film before reading or watching anything about it and thought it was great. It is a shame others are unable to go into such a film with an open mind. It was highly entertaining and a lot of fun to watch. If you honestly think this was “terrible” you have not seen many movies.

I really hated this movie! Even the prequel trilogy was better.
