My initial thoughts on the new Castlevania series, Season 1. Lucky for me, it was only 4 episodes, so I was able to watch it all quickly. This is a bonus review, for the week.

Like you said it dosen’t feel like Castlevania. It was an disappointment to see it.

When Dracula’s son turns up, they should totally give him a red trenchcoat, a pimp hat, and two giant honking automatic pistols. Oh, and a Police Girl with a cannon named after that floating fat guy from Dune, because everyone knows that bitches love cannons.

I thought it sucked, mostly. Bad direction, bad screenplay, dull voice acting, ok writings. But the worse was the music, totally bland and uninspired.

Once again your comment section just deletes my comment when I post it for absolutely no discernable reason. I really wish you’d fix that.

It’s annoying, really. Try to not use abbreviations, not do typos, and take your time to post. It seems if your too quick it blocks it. Also, some words are blocked, weird words.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but Boot see , is a name that somehow is blocked for me. Is this linked to his recent absence, though?

I know the word that ends in “irst” triggers it, but everything else is a mystery. It’s a gamble every time posting a comment. Maybe don’t have a filter that blocks half the English language, guys? Please? Or even acknowledge that there’s a problem ever?

I felt the same way, James. It didn’t “feel” like Castlevania. And I think the reason that is (aside from the lack of music) is because it all takes place in this one town. When you think Castlevania, you think marching through forests and cemeteries fighting your way to Dracula’s castle, but here it’s all buildup and exposition.
But like you said, I’ll give it a chance.

I don’t understand the confusion or hate of the Netflix Castlevania. If anything, my only complaints are the missing music from the games, the absence of Grant (so far) and that it’s only 4 episodes.
Besides that, it’s actually very faithful to the series, as long as you understand that it’s based on Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, with it’s backstory fleshed out by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Made over 20 years ago, so yeah, everyone had time to get acquainted with the most cherished Castlevania game still to this day).
I love the Hard-R rating. The animation (Especially the fire effects) and comedy remind me a little of Avatar/Korra (“Where are the Speakers?” Flashes to the Seekers “I think I saw it move!”), but explicitly for adults.
I understand that you may be a little clueless if you’re not familiar with those 2 specific games. Just remember, If this turns out well, then we can proceed to Simon Belmont and his quests (which take place 100 years or so later), which are more recognized by traditionalists.
I would prefer to hear reworked versions of Vampire Killer, Bloody Tears and the rest, but I’m not gonna nitpick on something that’s so faithful. (Cyclops scene? Straight out of Castlevania III)

what I have been waiting for is a serious Mega Man animated series not like the cheesy lame one we got in like ’94 or joke ass one we got in Captain N. something like the cut scenes in Mega Man 8

I was excited to watch it, then realised it was animation and decided not to bother.
