    Playing Mario on a phone does not sound fun to me.

        Didn’t sound fun for me either… Then I played it and was hooked. It actually looks and feels like a real Mario game. Might be the only “run” game I’ll dig.

    Dudes, you have to get the pink coins. If you get all 5 pink coins it unlocks purple coins, and if you get them it unlocks black coins. Every level has 3 sets of coins to get, which is like 3x the replay value per level since you have to replay to get all the coins.

    Also, the purple and black coins are harder to get than the pink coins, with the black coins being the hardest to get.

      Not to mention, the levels change slightly with each new coin type. 🙂

    well, the cartoons, super Mario bros and smb3 both casted Mario and luigi to sound like Italian plumbers from Brooklyn… it wasn’t until 1996 where they turned them into Italians with the Italian European accent

    Reminder Shigeru Miyamoto called the Wii’s casual audience “pathetic” (seriously http://www.techtimes.com/articles/14223/20140827/miyamoto-interview-may-signal-nintendos-focus-away-from-casual-players.htm) and that the only reason projects like this exist is so Nintendo can make a quick buck off of people they hate

    “Infinite runner” games are the most stock, cliche thing to make for phones and it shows just how little respect they have for that audience.

    I hate phone games. They ALWAYS suck…bigtime. Touchscreencontrolling is an abomination. Good ol gameboy or even the shitty tiger games AVGN went after in a episode is far superior to anything ive come across on the phonemarket.

    I thought it was going to be akin to Pokemon Go, in that you had to go outside to unlock the content. For example if you walk a mile you can get like 2,000 steps for the game. They could have collaborated with FitBit so you could upload your data to the site and track your progress.

    The game isn’t going to have micro-transactions, just the one time fee of $9.99 to unlock. I actually think it’s a mistake for Nintendo to take this approach because, like it or not, most people are used to micro-transactions instead of committing to paying a lump sum of $10 to get everything. Nintendo could’ve charged something like a dollar per world and I think that would’ve gone over better with the majority of people (those used to how micro-transactions work these days), but it’s Mario, so I’m sure they’ll make money anyway.

      I disagree. I think we need to break the micro transaction cycle. So glad they are just doing a one time pay thing.

        Yes, we definitely need to break the cycle! However, I do think that with some games, having to pay for larger expansions, like in the case of a game like World of Warcraft, it is fine.

    I can’t imagine that a zelda game would work out well on the phone, but I think this running gameplay style would be perfect for a sonic game. 🙂

    It’s not avaialable to everyone. It won’t be avaialable on Windows Phone and a lot of people have those phones.

    There is a bunch of run games. Temple Run was what started it and Subway Surfers is one that got the most downloaded. There was Temple Run Oz which was pretty good and I seen a Lara Croft run game. This game seems like a better form of running but it’s 2D instead of the 3D ones. They all seem like how Crash Bandicoot was collecting coins and jumping over holes when they come. Why don’t playstation do a Crash Bandicoot game for mobile already.
