Damn, man. That’s impressive. Also, if you do another one do I need to state the obvious? Transformers!!!

    • December 5, 2016 at 3:12 pm

Plus I can’t believe it only took you 6 months, especially with the SNES mouse. Love it.

  • December 5, 2016 at 3:24 pm

    So…uh…how many frames total?

  • Weldin Dunn

    December 5, 2016 at 3:30 pm

Holy shit! This is awesome. The Mario Paint episode of J&MM has always been one of my favorites.

FUCKING AWESOME! You are one talented motherfucker! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • geddon

    December 5, 2016 at 3:38 pm

Wow, I can’t believe you drew each of those frames. Watching you draw a single frame was painful. Why would you do this to yourself Mike?

    • December 5, 2016 at 3:56 pm

I enjoyed doing it. The only thing that bothered me was how bad the SNES mouse is.

      • bud

        December 6, 2016 at 6:34 am

        This is fucking amazing.
How did you have the discipline to stick through it?

      • Don Skiver

        December 6, 2016 at 6:34 am

That was amazing that you were able to animate as well as you did. I used to have mario paint, and the stick figure loop you drew is about as far as I could get. I’m shocked that you managed to do the whole intro.

I’d love to see you do this again. As for which cartoon intro to do next…how about the old legend of zelda cartoon intro in honor of you guys going through LttP again? You know the one with “excuuuuse me, princess”?

      • stewes

        December 6, 2016 at 5:21 pm

That was awesome! Do you know about the pixel sized brush trick? If you create a stamp with a single dot, you can use it to draw fine brush strokes with the Mario tool, giving you greater detail than the standard “small” pen.

      • December 8, 2016 at 4:00 am

that’s what makes it so painful, that snes mouse is awful… would love to make more songs on that game but i can barely operate it… I don’t see how such a useless mouse could be so mass produced like that… it was like the R.O.B. of mouses

    • paulwilson1982

      December 5, 2016 at 11:23 pm

The reason artists do painstaking work like this is for the end result. Crafting every fine detail to create something awesome, and in this instance something unique. Unless there’s someone else out there who re-created the Ninja Turtle’s intro specifically with Mario Paint lol

That was awesome. Would like to see: The Transformers, M.A.S.K., Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Or Robotech. Those would be awesome. Keep up the good work.

      December 5, 2016 at 5:05 pm

Holy LEEE COW, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. I was a weeeeee lad when that show was on, in fact I had such a vague memory of that cartoon, for many years I searched for it based on the toys because I could NOT remember the name of the show. Several years ago I learned that it was Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. I want to find this show and watch it from beginning to end cause, frankly I don’t remember a thing about it haha.

The most epic thing I could think of would be the intro to G.I. Joe: The Movie but that’s pretty long. Another awesome bit of animation to duplicate would be the sequence in the Origin of O-Ren from Kill Bill.

    • Hanglyman

      December 6, 2016 at 12:53 am

I agree with the G.I. Joe idea, that would be great. Or even the intro from the show. Another idea would be the opening from He-Man.

Or not. I don’t know if I want to encourage Mike to waste like fifteen percent of his life making another one of these, though it was awesome to watch!

  • December 5, 2016 at 4:18 pm

Awesome. That was amazing! Sticking with the ’80’s theme my request would be Muppet Babies!

  • darxide

    December 5, 2016 at 4:19 pm

Holy fuck, Mike. I was not expecting it to be this amazing.

    December 5, 2016 at 4:47 pm

    Dam sun.

That is some very impressive work mate!
That damn mouse have given you much pain cramps i imagine!

Knowing you by now for a bit, you’re the kinda guy really enjoying creating these artworks.

I hope you’ll do more of these, i really liked this one.

If you need a suggestion i would love to see the intro done of Wacky Races : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWPw0jEIhVw

    Keep it up MM!

    December 5, 2016 at 5:56 pm

    Good work Mike

  • December 5, 2016 at 6:56 pm

When I was a little kid, I remember dreaming of animating the flying carpet escape from the cave of wonders in Aladdin using Mario Paint. I didn’t even try because I knew how hard it would be.
I might be one of the few people who truly understands how hard what you did was. I used to spend hours on MP and that mouse sucks bad.
    Nicely done. Very very impressive!

  • December 5, 2016 at 9:32 pm

Wow brother this is MADZ skillZ2payTheBillZ. I absolutely enjoy seing your drawing skills more than avgn nowadays. I respect James and have nothing bad to say about him, its just popularity takes its toll, it is inevitable.. My best part of cinemassacre has become Mike and Bootsy. I think you two are the most charismatic and down to earth on the site. Don’t get me wrong, great work from everybody else, just you two stand out imho. Anyways, I was drifting away here, I would love to see the inspector Gadget intro ๐Ÿ™‚

    December 5, 2016 at 9:34 pm

WOW!!! Mike that was AWESOME!!! You did an excellent job and boy is it cool!! Good job man. Need a suggestion? Thundercats

  • December 5, 2016 at 9:38 pm

Very awesome job Mike! My request is the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, nothing says love like animation on the old Mario Paint game. Maybe Nintendo might see it and get inspired to make a new one on the Switch. I thought we were due another game on the Wii and Wii U. Maybe a Wireless Wii mouse or the Gamepad would have been really cool to use.

  • December 5, 2016 at 10:14 pm

Fucking Epic job, Mike!!! You totally
deserve the title of Mario Paint Master!
    Kudos!

  • December 6, 2016 at 12:29 am

Real quick I want to say I’ve been a fan of the site since 07′, I own VOL 1-5 of AVGN on DVD, and somehow I’ve never felt compelled enough to leave a comment until just now. That was fucking incredible Mike…

    • SavvyE

      December 6, 2016 at 4:41 am

Same here! That’s just too impressive, I felt like I had say something.

  • SavvyE

    December 6, 2016 at 4:39 am

After 10 years of watching videos without an account I just had to register to comment on how impressed I am with your art Mike. I owned Mario Paint, I know this animation was no easy task. The mouse tracking was bullshit, I hated when dirt & lint would stick to the rollers and the ball inside that would need to be cleaned off. I remember being excited for the mouse peripheral but it was only used by a few games, lemmings 2 which I already had on my Amiga and Cannon Fodder are all that come to mind. Well, great job and thanks for everything you guys have done.

  • December 6, 2016 at 7:20 am

Amazing! Maybe you could do MASK Nextel! Or the animated intro to Batman from the 60’s

  • December 6, 2016 at 7:52 am

that is absolutely insane… wow. Crazy to see someone actually doing something cool with Mario Paint that isnt just music.

  • skwij

    December 6, 2016 at 8:58 am

Dude, that’s amazing! Thanks for doing this along with your other videos. Transformers would be a great one to see, but Ducktales or Batman: the Animated Series would be cool, too.

    December 6, 2016 at 10:40 am

I don’t know how you are able to draw so well with the SNES mouse, but I’m extremely impressed! Really enjoy Cinemassacre’s stuff, so keep up the fantastic work you guys! And thanks for the shot of nostalgia, Mike!

  • greedo

    December 6, 2016 at 6:32 pm

Mike, color me impressed. Always knew that you were a pretty good artist, but my respect for you has risen to a whole new level. The amount of time you took, and the level of dedication you have is quite impressive. If I took 6 months to do something like this, I’d probably just toss the mouse into a corner, and just put the game in the closet. Hats off to you, bro!

  • The Wicker Man

    December 6, 2016 at 6:51 pm

Looks like my last comment was eaten by The Glitch Gremlin? I’d like to see X-Men, Thundercats or Defenders of the Earth.

This was absolutely fantastic! Awesome, amazing work, Mike! I’d love to see another one, if you’re willing to put in the massive amount of time required to do it. How about Gargoyles or Dinosaucers? =)

  • December 7, 2016 at 11:56 pm

That was really cool! Could you do Dragonball Z next or one of DuckTales?

  • December 8, 2016 at 3:28 am

    The Real Ghostbusters!

  • December 8, 2016 at 7:43 am

    Really impressive Mike!
    Future suggestion: Freakazoid!

  • Joe B.

    December 8, 2016 at 8:37 am

Wow! Both the animation and the cover of the original theme song are amazing. Must have take a long time and a lot of effort. Well done Mike :D.

  • January 13, 2017 at 3:54 pm

That is damn impressive! How do you manage to have the patience to go through what seems a painstackly process ? I would’ve smashed the snes mouse in hour and call quits!

  • Starfellharrier

    January 21, 2017 at 10:12 pm

Wow, I wouldn’t have thought to do an animation like this in Mario Paint. I’m really impressed with your results, with the limitations of the snes mouse and Mario Paint. That’s coming from someone that has a degree in animation.

Mike that is amazing dude. Hands down one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even think that was possible on Mario paint. Really Mike, that was amazing. Your a great artist man for real. I love your artwork man.

Mike that was an awesome video! You should do the transformers intro next! I would also be cool to see thundercats or he-man

  • March 6, 2017 at 7:13 am

You should do the intro for Captain Bucky O’Hare. I know you’ve talked about the game before, but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you talk about the cartoon. It was always one of my favorite cartoon intros.
