Keep up the great work.
August 21, 2016 at 2:41 pm
I just don’t get how AVGN didn’t use Mike in this episode. He looks just like Beavis!
August 17, 2016 at 1:49 am
Oh FUCK YEAH!!!!
August 17, 2016 at 8:24 am
This was a fun vid. I like how you kept getting drunker/stupider as it went on.
It actually seemed like a pretty cool game, aside from the continue/password bullshit that starts you off with no health. The graphics on the Genesis version looked amazing, while the SNES version seemed to have better, more straightforward gameplay.
I know you guys aren’t fans of the point’n’click adventure games, but I remember Beavis and Butthead in Virtual Stupidity for the PC was pretty damn fun. (There was also another one, Beavis & Butthead Do U. Both relied more on puzzle solving and no enemies or life meter to deal with.)
August 17, 2016 at 2:02 am
Just got out of work. Got some chinese food. And a new AVGN episode. Today is a great day!
August 17, 2016 at 2:03 am
Man we are early
great video I love you guys, recently your vids helped me through a tough time after the loss of my dog, love all the content james, mike, and bootsy do.
August 17, 2016 at 2:08 am
Was able to beat this game and get on stage with Gwar, but it definitely took some GameFAQs action to do it.
August 17, 2016 at 2:19 am
August 17, 2016 at 2:20 am
oh I see, only positive comments are posted.
video sucks. worst ever
August 17, 2016 at 2:58 am
The Sega version definitely has a crap-factor you need to adjust to. Once you do though, it’s enjoyable. The “clue” for that door-code is written on one of the bathroom’s (“call Butthead”) but that’s so abstract nobody would guess that. The rest of the game thankfully I was able to beat.
August 17, 2016 at 10:33 am
Impatient motherfuckers be asking James, “It’s been seven hours, when’s the next AVGN?”
August 17, 2016 at 12:20 pm
Hmm…why was there a Math Blasters game burning? I saw that label. Is that a sign of what’s to come?
August 17, 2016 at 1:35 pm
Looks worse than the Super Nintendo game I played.
August 17, 2016 at 2:15 pm
Awesome episode, like always! Btw there’s one more B&B game out there, a P&C adventure for the PC, and it rocks!
August 17, 2016 at 2:19 pm
Oh man, I missed these kinda episodes where it’s more of a mindless skit at the end than an epiphany. Great job as always!
August 17, 2016 at 2:25 pm
Great episode. But the cornholio joke just felt a little forced. Just didn’t seem like it had a setup.
August 17, 2016 at 7:13 pm
Insanity needs no context.
August 17, 2016 at 3:28 pm
Very good episode! I think a lot people don’t, and never fully understood, that the AVGN IS NOT THE SAME person as James. The intent is not for you to only laugh with him, but AT HIM as well. Taking the nerd himself, and everything that he says and does, seems to have forced James to continually modify his approach – and has pushed him to do episodes differently over time: but the original concept is amazing and genius. I think it all really started with the Top Gun “not being able to land the plane”, and people on YouTube went apeshit in the comment section taking it the wrong way – and from there killed a little bit of the original nerd. Still, I have to commend James for how he has been able to deal with it, and satisfy people, while still keeping the original idea intact *although a large amount of people still may not get it. Kind of like his movie. A lot of that movie was taken way too seriously: and I think people too strongly connect James (who they like and agree with) to the fictional character of the nerd. If you see the entire picture, and don’t take everything literally or as too serious… I think you would enjoy and appreciate his work even more.
How the drok could we be so similar as kids, James? We both hated the same games and watched the same TV shows.
August 17, 2016 at 5:23 pm
Does the SNES cartridge switch to math blaster when it’s burning at the end?
August 17, 2016 at 7:16 pm
I guess he doesn’t actually burn his copy. Hollywood magic at work.
My world is crushed.
August 17, 2016 at 5:49 pm
Loved Beavis & Butthead the tv show in my younger years. Living in the UK and without enough money to buy music magazines and have access to tv channels like MTV (when it still played music and wasn’t full of shit “reality” shows), it was a great way in the 90’s for me to experience music I wouldn’t have a chance to listen to on the radio or generally hear through word-of-mouth.
The games sucked ass though.
August 17, 2016 at 6:25 pm
Another great episode. This and Paperboy were the only two I watched day of release. However I’ve seen every episode. Keep up the good work!
August 17, 2016 at 6:30 pm
This is one of my favorite games for the sega i played it when i was like 8 or 9 , the game is not that hard to figure , you need to get items so you can use them to get other items so you can get the ticket , IS AN ADVENTURE game , you are supposed to travel between stages back and forth not go to one stage , discover you need a password and swear because is not handled to you in the same stage…i love you james but this is another video that make me think you just suck at games…
More videos thou please!!!! ♥ ♥
Long time fan of the show but never commented.
That was another nice episode! Thx a lot for your work!
August 17, 2016 at 8:46 pm
Excellent video James! I did catch a glimpse of “Math Blaster” at the end though, gotcha!
August 17, 2016 at 8:50 pm
I don’t think he was angry enough… also… what happened to the music?
August 18, 2016 at 2:49 am
You’ve obviously never watched Beavis and Butt-Head before
August 17, 2016 at 9:11 pm
The SNES version wasn’t that bad. I remember renting it from Blockbuster and beating it in a weekend. The only hard part is the boss battle with Mr. Anderson at the end of the Streets of Highland level. And you can do the levels in any order, like in Megaman, so I usually saved that one for last. You have to wait until he shoots out an apple core, pick it up and just throw it back at him, so if you can dodge the shots, it’s easy enough. Great review.
August 17, 2016 at 9:25 pm
There was also a very rare B&B arcade game prototype.
August 17, 2016 at 9:37 pm
The password should be 696969696969.
August 18, 2016 at 1:11 am
Don’t let these people demolish your standards. This was NOT a good episode. Go do something else.
August 18, 2016 at 7:52 pm
I have to agree. Paperboy was a stellar return episode following the anniversary megaman episode, but this was a real step down from that.
August 19, 2016 at 2:26 am
Thanks, TOADROAD. It seems like everyone who comments on any video on this site has nothing but great things to say. James, do not let these people lull you into a state of complacency. I’ve been religiously watching your videos since 2010. Your quality has declined. And stop letting Mike run the show. His ego is annoying, to put it politely.
August 18, 2016 at 3:13 am
He didn’t even get to the part on Sega that virtually requires one of those turbo controllers. You have to fish up a ticket and you pretty much HAVE to use turbo in order to get it.
August 18, 2016 at 8:55 am
I love Mike’s art for the title cards. It always very accurately sets the tone for each video. Great work, man.
August 18, 2016 at 1:59 pm
August 18, 2016 at 2:31 pm
The game boy version was okay.
August 18, 2016 at 2:50 pm
A friend and I spent an entire day beating this game when we were like 8 years old. It’s still one of my favorites to this day and I can’t stand the SNES version.
August 18, 2016 at 2:51 pm
the hardest section is the fucking sewers with two ppl
August 18, 2016 at 3:31 pm
Awesome stuff, you still got it James. I love Beavis and Butt-Head. The snes version actually wasn’t that bad, but the Genesis version sucks !
August 18, 2016 at 4:32 pm
Mike Judge. Long may he reign. This game sucks.
August 18, 2016 at 9:58 pm
Dude, the name on the SNES cartridge on fire at the end is ‘Math Blaster’.
August 19, 2016 at 2:38 am
Please for the love of GOD do an episode of Out of This World.
August 20, 2016 at 4:35 pm
My younger self would agree with you, as that game frustrated me to no end, but replaying it now I realize it’s a good game that requires you to think and react very quickly. It just has A LOT of trial and error.
August 21, 2016 at 12:06 am
I know what game you’re talking about, but holy shit, that just brought back all the memories of the TV show.
“Would you like to swing on a star, whoa whoa whoa, carry moon beams home in a jar…”
Now I’m thinking about Punky Brewster and Small Wonder and Saved by the Bell and how fucking ancient I am. 🙁
August 19, 2016 at 2:45 am
The Snes game is actually a really fun game. I’ve played through it many times. It’s way better as a one player game though. The two player is greatly flawed because both players share the same life bar.
August 19, 2016 at 8:37 am
The game sounds like 1 + 1 = tree.
August 19, 2016 at 1:51 pm
haha oh man passwords with upper and lower case letters….. reminds me of Metroid… ive broken a few controllers over shit like that….
August 19, 2016 at 3:05 pm
Great video james (fuck u mike).
Keep up the good work James.( mike suck ballz)
August 19, 2016 at 6:14 pm
You forgot to mention the creator of Beavis and Butthead Mike Judge is the comedy genius behind the movie Office Space. More recently the creator of the HBO comedy series Silicon Valley.
August 19, 2016 at 6:27 pm
Angriest AVGN ever lol
August 20, 2016 at 7:47 am
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEc-Acqh1SE never gona forget you oderus! yes you maggot filled kids here there was actually a band called GWAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 20, 2016 at 3:16 pm
I hate to say this, but the nerd has got stale.
August 22, 2016 at 9:59 pm
HAha I always thought Mike looked a bit like Beavis or Butthead. That band Gwar had a cool song that I really liked. I think it was called Far Behind. I was a fan of Beavis & Butthead when I was younger but now when I watch it I can’t stand it. I totally think it is so stupid and can’t even see how I did like it.
August 26, 2016 at 3:01 am
Mike looks like butthead
September 1, 2016 at 6:23 pm
I did like the indirect comparison James made at the start, equating B&B with AVGN itself (and J&MM) 😀
I havent seen any of the B&B series though
September 1, 2016 at 9:06 pm
those beavis and butthead games are not all bad. i once played adventure game on computer “virtual stupidity” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INzXO48oh20 …….and that was very playable and pretty funny …..
September 9, 2016 at 2:25 am
You guys should totally do Rocky Rodent for the SNES.
September 10, 2016 at 11:00 am
thank you for created 140 episode for 12 year
September 13, 2016 at 1:10 am
A lot of the characters, like for instance the chef in the hospital. He’s s’posed to be there. I believe the episode is “Bedpans and Broomsticks” or something where both guys are sick.
September 15, 2016 at 9:14 am
I’ve watched every video you’ve ever made, you are a constant inspiration to me thanks for being awesome. Shine on in this life and the next.
September 16, 2016 at 3:56 pm
that game sucks sweaty nutsacks haha the super nintendo ones alright but still shit i remember the frustration playin them as a kid good episode
October 9, 2016 at 1:18 am
On closer inspection, the show was dumb. The game is as bad as the show.
November 29, 2016 at 3:33 am
I regretted RENTING this. I feel worse for anyone who actually BOUGHT it.
April 23, 2017 at 6:13 am
Beavis and Butt-head pioneered review type shows? Hmm, but what about MST3K. They definitely had a hand in it as well.
You know I always wanted to play this game but never got a chance to. It looks like I wasn’t missing much. Unfortunate as well that the game is different on both system but sucks on both systems!
And what is with starting you with no life and items? I thought maybe it saved your progress in those areas, but it looks like they just fuck you over for the hell of it.
