Honestly, just in terms of pure shooty goodness, it kinda was quite above the classic Doom–and it kinda should, being over 20 years later. Mike might be wearing nostalgia goggles a little bit. 😉

Seriously man … he said the new doom is awesome and you’re still mad at him just giving his opinion ?
And what’s so surprising about seeing these guys wearing “nostalgia googles” … didn’t you noticed that most of the stuff they review is retro ?

Both the classic episods and the new one are great but honestly you just can’t say one is better than the other. Yeah, some aspects of the new one clearly are … but even though the combats are crazy, fast and fun as hell, the game never goes as far as the original in completely nightmarish combats with hords of demons.
On top of that, there’s multiplayer coop in the original … hum … you see what I mean ? Both have their own qualities.

Yeah that’s true, it felt like they were kinda dismissing the new one just because it wasn’t the original, which is probably an unfair conclusion to come to. Some people can be way more obnoxious with retro preferences and that can color things.

I’ll definitely say this, some people need to give James and Mike less crap for their controller preferences.

Everything has to be a competition with us humans, huh?

  • July 18, 2016 at 1:03 pm

in Donkey Kong Country 2 on SNES, I dare you to give 15 coins to the crocodile (Klubba) at the (K. Rool’s Keep) stage, then play the level that opens! .. I even dare mike to do it!

  • July 18, 2016 at 1:05 pm

I too like to play with my dick in my hand.

Fuck the keyboard? Fuck the controller!
Play Brutal Doom with a keyboard and mouse on at least the medium difficulty, if you don’t i’ll come over there and spank you silly! :p
Oh and “Doom Guy” punches demons in the face because he can. 😉

At 6:43 did Mike say “a green schphere” or is it just me?

    • July 19, 2016 at 3:46 am

Yeah lol… Looks so bad when you look at the asdw+mouse setup, but is actually the best of them all. Wiiu was better, but ONE game made full good use of it… sadly.

Nightshade for NES next please. PLEASE

  • July 18, 2016 at 3:06 pm

I’m just waiting for those two to play Brutal Doom. James’s mouth just drop from the over-the-top awesomeness.

That beatboxing montage killed me xD

  • July 18, 2016 at 5:33 pm

Did mike and james suddenly turned into the gamer version of Beavis and Butthead?

My family had the shareware version of Doom when I was a kid, and then we got Doom II. I played through all of Doom II when I was younger, but I always assumed that Knee Deep in the Dead, which was all the shareware version contained, was all of the original Doom. It wasn’t until years later when I got the BFG Edition for my PS3 that I found out that there was actually more to Doom.

    James, where do you work?

  • July 19, 2016 at 9:46 am

    I don’t know fucking anything.
    I do dramatically question death.

  • July 19, 2016 at 10:13 am

Everytime I see Doom on here I want to scream PLAY THE BRUTAL DOOM MOD ALREADY!!!!!!! You’ll never go back.

Brutal Doom is not Doom, Good Sir. It’s fun and fanservicy, but too far away from the proper Doom experience.

The end screen background looks like a brick of ramen noodles.

  • July 19, 2016 at 8:34 pm

OMG! This gesture James did with his hands in the beginning of the video: “this is work, this is play”. Just made me realize why I’ve never joined the so called “PC master race”. Sadly, being the same age as James, this is one of the cons of growing up. I still play consoles the whole 1-2 hours a week I have to spare. Keep up the good work guys!

Question: isn’t the newer console versions of doom playable in splitscreen co-op and why not?

  • July 20, 2016 at 10:11 am

I love cinemassacre and James and Mike, but old doom better than doom 2016??? Common… I’m sorry but doom 2016 is way better. Just because something is old doesn’t make it automatically better. Doom 2016 blew be away… I like original doom, but the new one does everything the original did and about 1000% more. Sometimes I’m honestly surprised by the ignorant things that they say on here… Oh well still love them!

    • July 20, 2016 at 5:19 pm

They get a bit granddaddy sometimes those two lol
I still enjoy a lot their company on late sundays though.

      September 12, 2016 at 3:44 am

The fact that you call it Doom 2016, instead of Doom 4 demonstrates your ignorance.

Of course, Doom+jDoom or zDoom or Skulltag is better than vanilla. Even the Chocolate purists agree with that.

  • July 20, 2016 at 11:53 am

If you were playing with keyboard, maby the gameplay wouldn’t look so horrendous. It really hurts to watch.

When James asks to play the Cyberdemon, Mike looks pissed 😀

PS.: Can’t wait to see the “Inferno” Video
