Mike and Bootsy play The Simpsons arcade game! (On Xbox Live Arcade)

Good memories of playing this at Showbiz Pizza. The further you were along in the game the more kids gathered around you.

Heh, someone else who remembers Showbiz pizza before it was bought out by Chuck E. Cheese. 😛

Simpsons, Turtles arcade game, and Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker–games I most remember seeing at the arcade when I was a kid. Nostalgia is thick with this video.
Having said that, a good majority of ’90s games based off of cartoons were absolutely terrible; Ren & Stimpy franchise being possibly the worst of the worst.

9:52 I did… but did not beat Mr. Burns

man. i remember pumping quarters into this as a kid with 3 other kids. we got to mr. burns…..and then we all ran out of quarters and never beat the game

Wait, these guys stopped watching at Season 4?! The renaissance of the series?
January 29, 2016 at 7:42 pm
Eh, I’d say Simpsons went downhill after maybe Season 10 or 11–you guys missed out on a bit. Season 9 has a couple of my favorite episodes, like the New York one. Besides that, since then there’s been an occasional watchable instalment, but even Matt Groening just wants the show over and done with now.
As for this game, it has a good novelty factor and is vibrant enough, but it does pretty much look like a button masher. Oh well, least it’s not Simpsons Tapped-Out.

I recently rewatched all the episodes, and while I agree that they were at their height around season 8-11, I think the later seasons were all pretty solid and very entertaining. Only around Season 23 it started to really go downhill.

I can’t believe neither of you tried pressing jump and attack at the same time. It lets you do a stronger attack (just like Turtles). Don’t get me wrong, I love your play-throughs. But, sometimes it seems like you don’t even bother to learn the basics of the games you play before you start complaining.

I have this on xbox as well but I never played through to the end. This is the kind of game that requires multiplayer to stay entertaining, alone it becomes boring very fast. I have a collection of 700 arcade games and I played through pretty much anything out there, my favuorite to this day remains The King Of Dragons, a real classic.

Dang, sorry for my english, drunk and italian doesn’t make of me a good polyglot.

King of Dragons? A man after my own heart, that’s one of my favourite video games ever. Capcom actually made it not complete bullshit too, as on the easiest setting it’s quite easier to beat with 1 credit.
If you’ve never played Dragon’s Crown, buy that shit now. It’s on PS3 and Vita. Made by the same guy who made all the great beat-em-ups. Absolutely wonderful game.

Buddy and I played through this whole game an a quarter machine at Chuck E Cheese long ago. Cost $3-$4 a piece. Not bad at all.
Can’t believe Mike stopped watching at Season 4. That was right when it was getting great!. 4-9 were solid gold television.

Answering Bootsy’s question: You can team up with the other player for special moves (like in Golden Axe 3). Google it!

yessir. I had the pc version.

Fond memories of playing this at the Jungle Village arcade.

I love Boosty’s hats!

my favorite arcade game of all time!
January 30, 2016 at 2:02 pm
There are combo moves with each character from what I remember. As in each character can do a combo move with each of the other characters. I think you have to stand on top of each other for a certain period of time. Maybe only worked in the arcade?
January 30, 2016 at 2:55 pm
I only made it up to The Simpsons episode 300 then I could not keep up so I only look at the Halloween only those are my favorite episodes out of all of them.
January 30, 2016 at 9:43 pm
There are team combos you can perform, which vary depending on the characters involved. I don’t remember how to do them.

I actually beat this one, but only because I had a birthday party at Aladdin’s Castle arcade and essentially got unlimited quarters. I don’t think I even watched The Simpsons at the time, but this was the era when anyone wearing a Bart t-shirt at school was unbelievably cool and edgy and probably would get suspended.

D&D: Shadow over mystara was cool!
But the one i loved the best were: Cadillacs & Dinosaurs and Captain Commando.

Too bad you can’t download that off of Xbox Live anymore. For some reason they took this, X-Men Arcade, and a few other games off of XBLA. Good thing I downloaded it while it was still on there. I guess that makes those games some of the rarest Xbox 360 titles since there is no way you can access them anymore. Unless you happen to buy a used 360 that already has them downloaded on the hard drive.

This game brings back a lot of memories from my childhood at the arcade. It was true with all the beat em up games that it took a pile of tokens/quarters to get far in the game.
February 1, 2016 at 3:51 am
Not true. I beat it back in the day. with 10 bucks IIRC.
Great game. Still play it to this day.

I actually beat that in the arcade back in the day. Took like $10 of quarters to beat Mr. Burns.

You should have toned it down a little, Mike, you really only spent over 4$, maybe 5$ on the wasted character change.
